Late December, 109

Jashua was exhausted as she crawled back into her dorm from class. Night was starting to fall outside the window and she stared briefly appearing stares as she fell onto her bed with a groan.
"Now would be a good time for you to be here Loche. I don't know how I'll put up with Adrian without you to push his buttons and give the rest of us a break!" She spoke to the open air, knowing no one could hear her. She remembered talking to that younger brown-haired girl about Loche and the DSSG during class today. She missed the DSSG, she remembered being one of the only girls in it and chuckled, Loche would be surprised to know this year it was mostly females! Ahhhh, fond memories of how the DSSG was one of the only things to get her through the tough times after she tried and failed to Bond. And then Loche had turned 23, failing to bond most of the DSSG disbanded after that, most of them had been older recruits that either bonded or had been forced to leave the Academy for being to old. With a snort Jashua pulled herself up and pulled a Mirror from her nightstand, she glanced briefly at her face, with a determined nod she pulled the pins from her bun and let her hair fall down to her shoulders. Brushing it behind her ears she set the mirror down and looked around the room. Making sure no one was near by she reached under her bed and pulled out Loche's old boots, a parting present.

It wasn't until much later she realized what was so important about them, when one day she'd been trying them on and the sole had come away to reveal a key. She knew exactly what that key was for, it was for the old DSSG meeting room, an old storage closet in the basement of the Academy. Now she deftly peeled the sole back and let the key drop into her hands. She never questioned how Loche had gotten the key, wether through bribe of pickpockettry, she didn't care. She reached under her bed again, this time pulling out a stack of fliers that Loche had drawn up for their final meeting, it had been Jashua's job to distribute them to the members. A few pencil scratches later she had corrected the date and time to tonight, in twenty minutes. Hiding the key in her pocket and shoving the boots back under her bed she stuck her head out the door to make sure it was clear. She crept quietly down the hall, sticking the fliers under each door she passed, if anyone was in there they'd certainly see it. As she reached the end of the all she folded up the final fliers and stashed them in her pocket as well, making her way down to the basement.

She knew the way like the back of her hand, and navigated to the hidden location even in the dark. Removing the key she slid it into the lock and smiled at the satisfying click as it turned. She forced the door open and coughed at the rush of dust and stale air, but didn't pause as she plunged into the dark. She felt around the center table until she found the old matches. Striking one she lit the candles clumped into the center, and after that moved around the outside walls where they'd rigged the candles to stick to the walls. The light revealed the old makeshift chairs still in the circle, the whole in the wall that Justin had put there in a fit of rage last spring, the nostalgia that set in almost brought her to tears. Instead she took another deep breathe of the stale air and settled into Loche's old chair, figuring she would be the leader now, she waited patiently for anyone else who had seen her fliers to appear.

Yawning, Keeva flung open the door. "Late?" she questioned, taking a look around the dusty old basement, "Or am I early?"

Her silk brown hair had been pulled up into a sporty tail, and her uniform was replaced with cotton brown pants and a low-cut blue shirt she had obviously touched up with her unique style. Nodding towards the other woman, Keeva collapsed to the floor, sprawling herself across the ground and resting her head on a chair. "Keeva," she murmured, purple eyes hidden behind closed eyelids. "You?"

"Only one to show up so far." Jashua said with a smile, stretching back in her chair. She herself hadn't really bothered to change out of her uniform other than letting her hair down. She was glad someone had showed up, she simply hoped no one got the idea to show the fliers to anyone of authority. She wasn't worried though, they'd had the same worries when they first started it up, and every time they handed out fliers to new recruits. But after a day with Adrian no one ever actually showed him the fliers.
But that didn't mean they never got caught. They got caught frequently, they just waited a month before the next meeting. Adrian was always suspicious of Loche, but he also knew Justin and Jashua were his right hand and woman. And with Justin and Loche gone now he would probably turn his suspicions to her. But Jashua didn't care, she and a lot of other recruits certainly appreciated having an Adrian-Bashing session after Drill.
"Jashua. Jashua Aldon. Good to see we......I've still got one recruit interested." Jashua said, hesitating after being to used to run the official side of the group she was still used to being second in command, and with Loche.

A soft, almost seductive chuckle left Keeva's lips. "You'll get more, the way that @$$ goes on," she said, eyes fluttering open. "Brady, by the way. Keeva Brady."

She glanced at the floor, noticing all the dust. "Just like home, sweet home," she suddenly chirped, wiggling her fingers in patterns in the grime. "The abandoned shack I slept in was always dusty. Wanted to clean it, but I figured an abandoned shack should stay dirty, right?" A slim smile appeared on her face. The girl obviously didn't mind living in such a place. She quickly snapped back to her normal self as a frown filtered back onto her face. "Doesn't that Sergeant have anything better to do than run us ragged? Although, his wolf...," her words drifted off as she fell into thought.

"Tell me about it. We fit about fifteen people in this room previously. Though not everyone had a chair. It was funny to watch us try and scatter whenever we got caught." Jashua chuckled to herself at the fond memories. If she couldn't pull her head out of the past there was no way she was ever going to bond to a wolf. "Nice to meet you Keeva, hope you don't mind if I call you that. Like to keep the DSSG casual to escape the rigid military setting." Jashua explained, leaning foward with her elbows on her knees taking her chance to examine the girl.
"Nightwing is indeed very beautiful. But he has a personality, and a rider, I could certainly do without." Sarcasm was heavy in Jashua voice as she brushed her hair from her face and back behind her shoulders where it belonged. This was why she never let her hair down, it never did what she wanted it to.
"Home sweet home? Where did you live before the Academy Keeva? If you don't mind me asking." Jashua asked, smiling down at the girl. She seemed friendly enough, and she certainly had the looks Jashua never would. Jashua certainly hoped the girl wouldn't mind her multitude of questions, and hope she would realized that Jashua herself would gladly answer the same in return. The DSSG was about trust amongst Recruits after all.

"Keeva's fine. Kee would work, too. Some guys I knew called me that," the younger girl replied as she lifted her head from the chair, flicking at a few stray hair wisps absently. "So, who's this 'We' you're always talking about? Boyfriend?" Keeva stopped to gave her a wink, grinning slightly at Jashua.

Her grin faded though, at the mention of home. "Streets," she casually remarked. "And before you try and get soppy on me, it was by choice. No way in Hell was I going to live at that orphanage." She made a face of disgust. "I was better on my own. Picked up a few useful tricks, too. By the way, need anything nicked, ask for me."

She closed her eyes yet again, leaning back into the chair. "What about you? Got a place?"

Jashua blushed, "Oh no nothing like that! Loche and Justin were just friends! It was the three of us that started up the DSSG! Nothing beyond that!" Jashua began to throw out reasons as defense before giving a quick attempt to change the subject.
"Good to know we've got some sticky fingers. Certain occasions always call for certain items. Welcome to the DSSG Kee." Jashua hesitated a moment, fidgeting with her uniform and shoving her hair behind her shoulders again. Some where in the back of her mind she regretted not leaving it up but that really didn't matter right now.
"I lived with my parents actually. Not that they could really take care for me, that's why I'm here." Jashua explained, realizing her life was probably luxury compared to where Keeva had been. But her life was much better here at the Academy. If she had never come here she would never have met Loche, who had convinced her she could make something of her life. She'd have never met Justin who was like a giant teddy bear to her, not to mention the rest of the DSSG that had moved on since then. She hoped the two of them were okay, where ever they were. If she remembered Justin had bonded and Loche had moved into one of the forts some where, she'd have to find out where so she could join him.

When the paper slid under the door, Russ was almost instantly on his feet. Snatching it up, he read the information. He had heard of the DSSG before the leader had been forced to leave due to age. However, he had also been... distracted at the time, free to vent along with a friend and still eagerly avoiding any extraneous groups he could.

Yet, he found himself limping down. Not that he had any hard feelings about what had happened this afternoon, but his feet moved out of a sense of loneliness. At worst, absolute worst, he wound up going to bed tonight knowing that this wasn't his thing. That was a comfort of itself. He had nothing really to lose.

He was still in his uniform, a little dirty, but not as bad off as he could be. Truth be told, he just didn't feel like changing into whatever civilian clothes he might have lying around. Russ was perfectly fine in uniform, not to mention that it made him feel like he belonged.

The voices reached his ears as he neared the door. Two females, but where was the surprise there? From what he'd seen, there were more of them now. Just don't let them get the wrong idea and he might be doing well. The teen paused at the door, knocking a quick rat-ta-tat on the frame. "Can I come in?"

He wondered for a moment if Jashua, who had been here as long as he and might remember that he stayed away from these sorts of groups might think him a rat and deny him access. Boy, wouldn't that be awkward?

Keeva's eyes flashed open at Jashua's quick and most unbelievable stammerings. "Yeah...ok, sure." She let off a soft smile; this girl wasn't so bad. "Any particular talents of yours I should know about?" she questioned, crossing her legs as she rose to a sitting position.

Listening to Jashua, Keeva nodded. "Parents died," she said without feeling. And why shouldn't she? It had been so long ago she barely remembered them. It was Roach who took care of her for so long, teaching her to live her life by her own terms. It was his nudging that finally got the girl to apply to the academy, after all.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a fancy knocking. Tilting an eyebrow up, she called, "Sure thing, as long as you ain't the sergeant."

"Sort of. Spend enough time with Josh and even the most honest can find themselves lieing through there teeth. Especially to Adrian. But mostly I just make sure things stay under wraps and keep it organized." Jashua said laughing, glad Keeva had also dropped the subject. Jashua pulled her legs up underneath her, sitting on her feet and smiling. For a first meeting it was a tad small but certainly off to a good start, her first meeting after all had been her and Loche, they'd been here for a year before Justin showed up. Jashua nodded sympathetically when Keeva mentioned her lost parents, but she could already tell it wasn't pity this girl wanted so she didn't pother to give it.

It was then the knock came at the door. Jashua stayed silent for a moment, analyzing the voice in her mind. It certainly wasn't Adrian's of that she could be sure, And it wasn't the other Sergeant of New Eve who had been there.

"Yeah. Come on in." She shouted, just loud enough to be heard on the other side of the door before commenting softer to Keeva, "I recognize the voice but I just can't put a face with it." She shook her head as she spoke, and then shoved her hair back again growling in irritation. Two possibly members already, she was off to a pretty good start as the DSSG's new leader.

There was one invitation, and soon later another. Jashua had been last, but the first? One of the new girls, he'd be willing to bet. He moved in with slightly stiff movements, the body language of an outsider not yet comfortable in a new area. He sat a few chairs away from their leader, continuing on the theme of not belonging, waiting for some sign that he did belong here. He leaned, elbows on his knees, nodding to them both in turn. "Russ," He said simply as an introduction.

Don't just sit there. That's just weird; add something to the conversation. Try as he might, he couldn't come up with anything that didn't make him sound awkward - you are awkward, idiot - so he kept his silence for the moment, stretching the injured leg with a visible wince crawling across his face.

Shrugging at Jashua, Keeva turned her attention to the dark haired boy who entered. He looked about as comfortable as a fish in a frying pan. She watched him sit down; he was pretty cute, but older than her. Not that it mattered. She brushed those thoughts away. Relationships were not on her mind right now -surviving rifle lessons were.

Giving a flicker of her hand, the brown hair girl nodded at the newcomer. "Keeva," she answered, just as casually. "Welcome to the We-Despise-Adrian Club." Giving him a wink and a quick grin, Keeva turned back to Jashua. "Guess you're doing alright without your boyfriends," she teased.

"'Ello Russ. Jashua Aldon, glad you decided to join us." She said with a smile and a nod. As the boy sat down she examined him closer. Her seemed a bit aloof, like he didn't really want to be here but had come anyway. Jashua shrugged and was about to say something when Keeva's words reached her ears.

"Yeah, we're doing surprisingly-" She began to answer the girls statement when the second half of her sentence sunk in, "KEEVA! LOCHE AND JUSTIN WERE NOT MY BOYFRIENDS!" She insisted, nearly defensively. She shot a glare in the girls direction. She hoped the heat rising on her face would be mistaken for anger rather than the blush it was that she could feel spreading on her face.

"ANYWAY! We're not so much the We-Despise-Adrian-Club. We're more the We-Hate-Adrian-With-The-Burning-Passion-Of-A-Million-Suns-Club. And welcome to our first meeting of the year!" Jashua said cheerfully, hoping her attempt to change the subject would be met with some form of success this time around. It was then she noticed the wince as the new comer stretched out his leg, "Something you need looked at? We have a few first aid kits in here."

"Pleasure to meet you outside of Hell, Keeva" his answer was light, intended to be taken as an interest in the topic promised. To be honest, he hadn't found much to complain about. True, it was hard, but the end result was going to be that much sweeter, all the crap they went through to get it, right?

The yell, feminine, defensive, drew a laugh from him. It wasn't meant to be unpleasant, unfriendly. His eyes sparked as he gave a playful wink towards Jashua. "Uh-huh. Whatever you say." After the words left his mouth, his posture became looser, more comfortable, though still on the more unsure side.

Russ smiled mildly at the declarations of dislike for Adrian. "Speaking of him, I missed the first while of drills today. What happened?" It was more of a curiosity question, but it could also lead to venting, which was, on its own, enjoyable to listen to. Not to mention the fact he could feel a bit better that he had missed it despite getting hurt.

At the question, he shook his head. "I don't think so. Just slipped wrong coming down the stairs earlier. It'll take a little while, but it'll get better on it's own; thanks."

Yaz had been sitting quietly at her desk doing some last minute homework she had been procrastinating on. Not that she really wanted to do the homework but rather, there was nothing else to do. Mentally sighing her irritation, Yazmako rolled her eyes and tapped her writting utinsel on the desk a few times. Her thoughts drifting about the room in random bubbles she finnaly blinked at a paper lying by her door, that hadn't been there a few moments ago. Pulling herself off her chair Yaz walked towards the flyer and picked it up. Reading the contents she shrugged. This would at least be far better than the homework she was supposed to do. Crumpling it up into a ball she opened her door and headed down the hallway.

It wasn't long before the cold tempered blond found her way to the basement room that had been incribed on the paper. Tapping on the door a few times she leaned agains the closest wall and folded her arms. She wasn't to interested in the group but it did give her something to do and hopefully an excuse later as to why she didn't manage to finish her homework, to which she had more than ample time to complete.
