~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FEF News Letter! Date of Release: August 22nd, 2008 Hello, members of FEF! The first order of business is our introduction! This is our first newsletter in a long time! We’re going to try sending these by having people actually sign up for it. This way, we have a definite list! We are experimenting with what is going to be easiest for us to do. We are going to try releasing a newsletter every other Friday. Make sure to also keep checking the front page of the guild for major updates in between the letters. FEF Theme SongDJ_Muziq has been amazingly awesome enough to create for us our very own theme song! Nino made the melody, but we would have NOTHING without this skilled young man, Muziq! Go check out our theme and his other amazing works which include remixes of Fire Emblem songs HereThe Guild GameDrama! Mystery! Murder?! It's a bit late to join in if you haven't already, but come watch FEF's guild game, located in the FEF Mystery City subforum! It's loosely based off the game Mafia, so it's sure to be very interesting. I wonder if the killer will get caught, or if they're clever enough to elude all those FEFers until they've all met their demise? We'll find out as the guild game goes on! New CrewmembersPlease welcome our newest cremembers! Our well known and hard working, Huey! (Danni-chan) And also, our skilled musician DJ_Muziq (Who doesn't seem to have a character)! =) Be sure to respect and congratulate these two! Splicing ContestThe Splicing contest is still being judged until Monday, the 18th of August. Go in and vote Here! The next Spriting contest begins the very next week, the 1st of September. Start working on your splices so you can have them turned in to Nino as soon as possible. Vaida's Uber-SpearOur very own Vaida has completed her quest for an Uber-Spear! (Also known as a Demonic Pitchfork!) Better stay out of her way! Or congratulate her. With lots of hugs. And happiness. And then you'd better run. Congratulations, Vaida!! FEF Supports=o Wow you should totally go check out our new subforum, which is a place to look at chats between members of the guild! You can use these like you do in Fire Emblem to learn more about all the interesting people around our guild! That is Here! You can also write some of your own! Goodbye Suggestions Forum?As you know from what happened to the Questions forum, we are getting rid of a few things we don't use. We turned the Q & A Forum into a thread, and we think the Suggestions forum is heading along the same path. Soon it will be a thread. =3 Anime Expo 2009?There has been some discussion about the guild members meeting up at a convention someday! We're thinking we might meet at Anime Expo 2009 in Los Angeles, California! There isn't much information out about the con yet, but we thought we would warn you all so you can start planning and saving. Future Parties?Upcoming events, you say? Well... As usual we are going to have a Halloween party for the entirety of October! Beginning on the first, it's not Halloween night, it's Halloween MONTH!! The same will go for Christmas. If you have decoration pictures you think we could use please send them in. =3 For those of you wondering why we don't celebrate Thanksgiving: Not everybody lives in America, so it would be kinda weird to celebrate the beginning of a country that a lot of people on Gaia don't live in... I hope that doesn't upset anyone!!
Rumors and Uncertainties for the FUUUUTURE There is a slight possibility that the crew is, as we speak, working on a walkthrough guide for FE7, Blazing Sword! We might be planning on putting birthdays and other things in the newsletter in the future. Nino might have a Nino cosplay ready by AX '09! It's ok, we'll help you keep up with us right here! This is our second newsletter! Yaaay! Guild Hangoutside?!It seems that a lot of houses on Gaia have just been... locked up! Nobody can get in! Even to their own house. Well, unfortunately, our guild hangout, FEFGA's house, has been locked up. Nobody can get in! All we can do is sit outside and wait. So instead of going in, we will hang out outside of the house. We hope to see more of you coming and spending time with us. I'm being forced to do their bidding and the Crew is being held captive somewhere! This is upsetting! The odd thing is that they threw a party...? Some members tried to pull off a resistance plot, but Lady Madriana caught them and then took Alihi hostage! So don't forget to visit the Halloween event forum!! Interview With a Member Due to a complete fail on my (Cortesa's) part, July's Interview With a Member will be pushed into August's. I apologize greatly! Interview With a Character (1) Hey, everyone! It's me, Alihi Kaua, one of the tacticians in Learania. I was asked to do these interviews, and I thought, "who better to start out with than our current Captain, Rath?" So, I got in contact with him and, well . . .
Alihi: Rath! Thank you for giving me the time to see you today. May I ask a few questions?
Rath: That is why you're here. Go ahead.
Alihi: Alright! Let's start out simple. Describe yourself, as if you were trying to tell someone who doesn't know you about yourself.
Rath: ...My impression of myself is unimportant. People think what they will about others. If someone came to me and asked, I would simply tell them that I am the acting Captain of Learania. ...That is the only significance.
Alihi: What kind of things do you do as the Captain of Learania?
Rath: Acting Captain. And I have many responsibilities. Law proposals go through me, I ensure that newly arrived people from other worlds are introduced to the guild, I make sure that peace is kept, and all the small things that keep the guild and the country together are decisions that I have to make. At least... until Nino gets better.
Alihi: I . . . I see. If given the opportunity, would you go back to Elibe?
Rath: ... ...There... is no longer anything for me, there.
Alihi: . . . Alright. Hm. If you had one wish, what would it be?
Rath: For the proof I need to set things right...
Alihi: Set things right?
Rath: Learania has been plagued by a villain for some time, now. I have been unsuccessful in gathering firm proof, to take him down. ...He is not a stranger to most.
Alihi: . . . I see. Moving away from that now. . . . What do you think has influenced your life the most?
Rath: The cruelty of the world. When exposed to it, it breaks us down, allowing us to become stronger.
Alihi: That's definitely true. Hardships can make the heart and mind grow stronger. Along those lines, what would you say is your biggest strength?
Rath: I wouldn't. That's a question more suited to be asked to others.
Alihi: I guess. But personally, what do you think it is? Or one of your strengths?
Rath: ... ...Something the two of us share, I believe. Knowing things.
Alihi: Indeed, that is something that we share.
I think this will be my last question. It's a bit odd and out there, I know, but pretend that you've tied to two people, one by your left wrist and one by your right. And you get to choose who. Who would you choose?
Rath: ...The question is symbolic. Naturally, it would depend on the situation one was in to determine who would be the most valuable an asset. Since no situation was given, it means you wish to know who is most important to me. ... ...Susan. And Nino.
If that is all, then I must get back to work.
Alihi: Yes, that is all. Thank you for your time, Rath. Interview With a Character (2) After finishing talking with Rath, I seek out Fire Dragon for an interview. . . .
Alihi: FD! May I interview you? It won't take too long, I promise!
FD: Certainly. I have no qualms with that. Take as long as you like. And it's nice to formally meet you, Alihi.
Alihi: Excellent! It's nice to meet you, too. -smiles- . . . I heard that you're with Nils, right? How did you meet him?
FD: Yes, I'm with Nils. We recently got married, in fact. Oh, gosh! Well, I'd seen Nils long before I actually met him beyond the Dragon's Gate. You know, where dragons were banished to after the Scouring. He and his sister stuck out for being ice dragons while most dragons had an affinity for fire. But I properly met him here in Eyris when the Host Club was starting up, which we're both members of. We would host as a team and got to know each other from there.
Alihi: That's really sweet. Congratulations on the marriage! I wish I was able to attend that.
FD: Thank you. Sorry you couldn't make it.
Alihi: I'm just happy it happened, even if I wasn't able to see it. -pauses- Let's see . . . how would you describe yourself?
FD: I'd describe myself as... calm, collected, and friendly. I've been told that a lot of people find me intimidating to approach if they don't know me, and I don't know why that is; I think I'm a nice enough guy. It usually takes a lot get me flustered, even during battles. I have no tolerance for racism or botching historical accuracy because someone's in power, though. Either of those can get me angry in an instant. I'm also very loyal and protective.
Alihi: You are quite nice, but I guess the whole "fire dragon" thing just sets people on the edge sometimes. There's no reason for that, though.
What would you say are your strengths and weaknesses?
FD: Well, I consider this substitute human form a weakness; it's so much frailer than my natural dragon form. Honestly I don't know how people can wage all the wars they do without tougher skins - I think it's really impressive. But I need it to communicate with most people and live in the city. Most of my strengths and weaknesses speak for themselves though. My Flametongue can pierce just about anything and make cinder, claws can puncture armor, and scales make most of my body extremely difficult to penetrate - a weapon like Vezra can have difficulty with it. Of course, I also have trouble in tight spaces where I'm not much use, and I have to be careful with Flametongue since it's such a large attack and can (and has) started forest fires, fires in buildings, and fires in other places which can cause problems. I also have to watch for allies with it in a large space. Dragons also tend to be really large targets and there's the weakness to thunder although it takes a whole lot more than the standard mage's thunder to pose a threat. Standard stuff, I guess. I can also understand dragon tongue in either form, which has never been useful for anything, but that could change eventually.
Alihi: I'll keep that in mind for when we find ourselves on the same side of the battlefield.
FD: Good to know you'll bear me in mind. I don't disappoint.
Alihi: I would expect that you wouldn't. Would you go back to your homeland if you were given the chance and you could take Nils with you?
FD: Well, homeland is subjective, isn't it? I mean, technically Elibe is my homeland - not the world beyond the Dragon's Gate. I honestly don't know, but in either case I don't think so. Learania has treated us well. I've never seen so many people from so many different cultures, different worlds even, live in the same place peacefully.
Alihi: I know what you mean. . . . Learania is such a nice place. It's almost like a dream sometimes.
Speaking of dreams, if you had one wish, what would it be?
FD: One wish... if I had one wish I'd wish for no more wars. That's never gonna happen, but I can still want it to.
Alihi: . . . I know what you mean. Sure, I'd be out of the job, but that'd be okay if it meant we didn't have to fight anymore.
What do you think has influenced you the most?
FD: Oh, I'm sure someone of your talents would be able to find a job.
I think traveling back and forth between not two but three different worlds has been a very large influence on me. It's really expanded my perspective to have actually BEEN in that many worlds.
Alihi: Not many have been able to go to two worlds, let alone three. Would you mind describing the dragons' realm to me? I've always been curious. . . .
FD: Oh gosh, the dragon’s realm. Sure, I’ll describe it. Well, a big thing to mention is that unlike when people inexplicably come to Learania, when dragons fled through the Dragon’s Gate to the other side, there was no preexisting civilization in place, so we had to start from scratch. The lack of civilization was very harsh to us given that we came from a world possessing it, and we lost a lot of dragons early on after we arrived there as a result.
In more ways than people want to consider, I think, it’s similar to any other world: there were different environments, fields, forests, mountains – lots of mountains actually. Lots of volcanic activity, too, actually. But it’s not this barren, enigmatic place as some people imagine it is. Probably because of their perceptions of dragons – I don’t know. The world was harsher there than it is here in Learania or in Elibe, though. I will grant that; stronger seasons of Summer and Winter which really emphasized the Fire-Ice dichotomy in the culture.
Also given the long life span of dragons, history is really popular there since we live through so much change. We built a massive temple for where we came into that world from the other side of the Dragon’s Gate, for example, to acknowledge the history we had even before going to that world. I could talk about specifics for days, just as we could for this world if we tried, but those are the big points, I guess.
Alihi: . . . It sounds like an absolutely wonderful place, even with your general overview.
I think I just have one more question. What's one random fact about yourself?
FD: Well, I'm not sure how random this is, but I love a good martini and I'll binge drink them if they're available. I also love really spicy food.
Alihi: Haha! I wish I could drink, but I have, like, no tolerance at all. . . .

First off, I'd like to formally apologize for how . . . empty this newsletter is this time. For most of this month I had limited computer time or a lousy connection, so there wasn't a lot I could do for this. I was home a grand total of eight days this July, and on some of those days I was with friends, and others I was just so physically and mentally exhausted that I was pretty much dead. September's will be better, I promise! But, again, I have to say that I would love more member participation, especially in the Fun Section. Here's what I said for last month's, since it's convenient to copypasta: "Please consider contributing to the Fun Section! I had no submissions for the section at all, so I had to either find things to put in their myself or just cut them out. So if you have any riddles, fun facts, support conversations, or words in another language that you want to contribute, PM me at any time!" Also, a reminder.
