In the tavern called Stronghold Valley, the jolly jester took a gulp of his drink. If there was no performance for him to perform, it would be having a drink and be merry with people. Oh, yes. He enjoyed it well.
The tavern was located in Rostia, one of the popular cities of Estarcia. The city wasn't big or small. However, this city was famous for its drinks and festivities. No one could throw a grand party like this city could. Oh, yes. Indeed, it was.
Pietro placed down his drink and picked up the flyer from the small stack of papers he had placed on the table. The Cheshire smile didn't leave his lips as he looked at the flyer. Unlike any flyer that was usually brown with black letters, this flyer was designed fancy. The paper was pure white and smooth with gold embroiled decorations as the border. Written on the flyer was this:
Hear ye, hear ye! Come one and all!
Gather around and read this flyer in awe!
We, the Gryphon Mercenaries, are hosting a contest.
To give out not only prizes, but to seek those who are the best.
Whether you are the strongest, swiftest, cunning, or all.
Then come to our contest, win and answer our hiring call.
Below the announcement was the date and location of where the contest would be held. In addition, there was a small print of a map with direction in case people had bad sense of direction. The Cheshire jester let out a small chuckle.
For the past month, he had sent flyers in every city of Sentria, Mordache, and Estarcia. He didn't send the flyers to Adliana Plains. Oh, no. Those people would rather be paid to work than joining the mercenaries. As for Learania, he knew he couldn't send out those flyers. The smiling jester was ordered NOT to deliver the message to the country, especially not to the guild called Fire Emblem Forever and the Watch. Oh, no. That would be a no no for him.
Now that the message was delivered, Pietro needed to set up the contest for the contestants to arrive. Oh.... If only these contestants knew what he was up to. There was no prize or a group of mercenaries called Gryphon. However, the contest was partially true. The menacing jester's order was to recruit people for the mission. What was this mission these contestants would receive? Well, only his baroness and her two guests knew.
Pietro shivered at the thought of her guests. One guest, a female servant, looked very interesting. He wouldn't mind playing with her if he had a chance. But the other guest, a tall, dark man with a monocle, sent cold chills down his spine. Never had he met a person who would be more powerful than Baroness Charolais. Oh, yes. Indeed, he didn't. The jester knew he was powerful enough. Why, even if he attacked the man with his most powerful and deadliest attack, Final Curtain, the man would surely survive without a scratch. Pietro sometimes wondered who that man really was.
Placing the paper back on the stack of papers, Pietro clasped his hands together and let out a Cheshire smile. Across from the jester was a mercenary that his baroness had hired months ago, eating his steak. If this man wasn't hired from his baroness, Pietro would fight him. The jolly jester liked to fight strong people. That, and his had a little bet with the head of the Mordachean military army too.
The man across from Pietro was strong with his glaive behind his back. The jester knew he was capable to handle his fight, with or without his wyvern. His wyvern was outside the tavern, eating a tub of meat. Despite the mask covering half of his face, it didn't bother him as he continued eating his dinner. The Cheshire jester spoke out. "So, dear Erik. Do you like to participate in this lovely game I'm setting? Or are you still reminiscing your bitter memory of your Christine marrying to her Raoul? Hmm?"

The Actual Story Now, what is this about, you've asked? Hmm? Why, it's quite simple, my dear audience.
This is the first RP that will have an impact to the FEF canon. Think of this as a pre-event. Oh, yes. Indeed, it is.
Now, in this thread, you my dear audience, are invited to participate in this lovely contest I'm setting. Oh, yes. Indeed, I am. You will devise an OC character that has no relationship to canon characters in Eryis and Learania Especially no relationship to the FEF guild and the Watch. My baroness will skewer me if this message is leaked out. Oh, yes. Indeed, she will.
Even though I've said you can't have an OC who has a relationship to the canon characters, it does not mean they can't be from Learania. Hmm? ^____^ They may come from Learania or Eryis, but just as long they have no ties with the Watch, castle, and the FEF guild. Oh, no. That will ruin the game.
So come one and all to this lovely contest I'm setting. Those who win shall get receive a reward. And those who didn't.... Well, they will have the constellation 'prize.' ^____^
The number of winners will depend on the number of contestants entering. Oh, yes. Indeed, it will. So whether it be a small group or not, it is your choice to decide to participate. However, the question is, will you win? *chuckles*
Now, then. Since this is a pre-event, it shall end before the first of October comes. Oh, yes. Indeed, it shall end. So the sooner we play this game, the quicker we go. However, do not get obsessed with this contest. Oh, yes. Indeed, we don't. Because after all, school year has started for those and education is VERY important for you. Oh, yes. We don't want to fail our fellow audience because of this. Hmm? ^____^[Due to technical problem of finishing the thread before the holidays, this thread has been moved here to finish since this is related to the event. So let's wrap it up.]Now, below is a brief application for your OC to enter. You may enter one or you may enter more. No matter how many OCs you've entered, it does not matter. After all, as my motto always say, the more the merrier. ^____^Player Name: Character Name: Character Class: (No Outlandishly Custom Classes, please.) Weapons: (Two weapons at the most.) Personality: (Keep it brief, please. I'm not hosting a contest for canon OCs.) Backstory: (Again, keep it brief. If you want to make long background, then you're making a canon character.) Extra: (Feel free to place whatever else you want in this spot, otherwise leave it blank.) When you are finished with the applications, kindly sent them to me. Because after all, I am hosting this contest. Hmm? ^____^

The Rules Like every contest, we must have a rule. Oh, yes. Indeed, we must. For we don't want cheaters to be lurking around.
Now, kindly follow those rules. And if I find you cheating, I shall pull the curtains on you. ^____^Rules-Characters will die at little to no provocation. (IE: a random number generator. Good luck! ^_____^) -Follow the ToS. -No godmodding. (You're not like that man my baroness is house-guesting.) -No hit/dodgemodding. (Again, you're not invincible either.) -The characters know what they know, not what you know. -Don't whine and cry if things go sour. (Even if they die, of course. ^___^) -Literacy is love, as long as we can read what you're saying and it's got some eloquence and grammar and all that. You passed English, so act like it, please. -Have FUN. It's all a game, both literally and figuratively. If you start making it not-so-enjoyable for everyone else, your character gets a forceful boot out. -OOC goes in the eventual OOC thread, please.

Characters Like to know who is participating? Hmm? ^____^ Well, here it is!Contestants Player Name: Samuel Alexander Character Name: Samuel Alexander Character Class: Dragonkin (Half Human/Half Dragon) [Half-dragon Monk] Weapons: Holy Magic to attack with, as well as cure pain/illness [Light Magic and Heal] Personality:Shy, formal. Often addresses friends as m'lord or m'lady instead of their names. Backstory: Due to a curse placed on him at birth, he transforms into a small white dragon when low on strength in order to recover. In this form he can't use any magic and talks in a foreign language that few understand. Extra: Appearance Text color = bluePlayer Name:Misuki Marishima Character Name: Nadia Orento Character Class: Valkyrie Weapons: Physic, Fimbulvetr Personality: Nadia is both a prideful and powerful individual. She puts on airs that are of nobility, and strives to be perfect more than anything else. Some have said through her constant use of ice magic, she has frozen her own heart and stopped caring for others completely. Backstory: Nadia is a Valkyrie from Mordache, and a noble heiress to her father's estate. After her father's death, she begun to strive to keep her noble name in tact by going after absolute perfection in both her choices of magic. She doesn't forgive anyone who blunders in the expense of her family's name, and tends to punish them rather harshly. Her mount is believed to be quite mad due to its owners obsession with perfection, and is known to charge towards enemies with the same ruthless bloodlust as its rider. Extra: This is her tektek. AppearancePlayer Name: Cortesa Character Name: Brenda Blakely (prefers the name "Bliss", though) Character Class: Druid Weapons: Flux (which has a crappily-made cover that tries to disguise it as Light), Mend Personality: Bubbly to the EXTREME. Like, to a point where you'd think you're going to suffocate on all the bubbles created. She's also a bit of a ditz. Backstory: She's just an average girl, really. Many would wonder why she chose dark magic when she's so bubbly, but that's because she did it out of love. Except said love dumped her, and now she's going through all of this to try to prove herself worthy of his love. Extra: She tries to hide that she's a Druid by wearing bright colors. However, despite her white robes and cotton-candy pink hair, it's still obvious that she is indeed a Druid. (Bear with me, guys. I'm testing to see if I can play extreme personalities such as this.) Player Name: KuraiKitty Character Name: Acteon Teira Character Class: Pegasus Knight Weapons: Javelin, Iron Sword Personality: Flamboyant, arrogant, snide- a real b*****d. He's tired of putting up with other people's crap about his gender and his class, and it really shows in how he treats other people like dirt. Backstory: Long story, compressed from a Kurai-sized essay into a paragraph? Sure. Acteon is a cross-dressing Pegasus Knight that got into the brigade via his screaming, upon which the Paladins of Ilia no longer wanted to deal with him. They sent him to the Pegasus Knights hoping that he'd be thrashed, but were shocked to find that with some careful tucking and good enough skills with the lance, he was able to pass off as a very ugly but skilled Pegasus Knight. This worked until he grew facial hair, at which time the Knights kicked him out for good. Extra: He's a screamer. 8D Oh, and he whines. Oh, yes, does he whine. Player Name: KuraiKitty Character Name: Elise Character Class: Heron Weapons: None. Personality: Literally retarded, Elise is naive to the extreme- she does not understand the concepts of good and evil, nor does she have a large vocabulary. Talking too fast will confuse her- she just wants to literally smile and be happy. Always nice because it's the only thing she knows how to do, she greets everyone with a kind smile... but little else. Backstory: Elise was born in Tellius nearly five hundred years after the war with Begnion came to an end- the herons were few in number. Inbreeding was inevitable, but with each generation, the blood thinned dangerously- their lifespans cut in half with each generation, leading to nearly three generations passing in the time it normally took one heron to mature. The great-grandaughter of Leanne, Elise is one of three remaining Herons, and thus royalty; however, her mind is stunted due to inbreeding, she cannot fly, and her singing has very unusual effects that do not mirror those of her ancestors'. Extra: Talk too fast, and you'll lose her. Be nice, and she may sing you a song! :3 She got to the tournament by accident, as it were- getting lost through a portal and going to the nearest source of noise might not have been the smartest thing for her to do. Player Name: Queen Melethia DagonCharacter Name:Jen de RamielCharacter Class:Swordmaster Weapons:Silver sword & Wo Dao Personality: A cheery girl who is usually calm untill she gets into battle. She then becomes a Psycho that wants BLOOD (Split personality Yayness!) Backstory: An 18 year old girl who learned the way of the sword at the age of 7. Out of curiosity she tasted the blood of a person she killed at the age of 13. Loving that taste she started to kill just to lick the blood off her sword. Extra: Yes....Melethia would think of something this damn crazy. AppearancePlayer Name: Overlord of Night- Shadow Character Name: Corvus Character Class: Swordmaster Weapons: Killing Edge, Brave Sword Personality: An extremely kind and gentle man, normally. But if angered, he nearly always loses control. Backstory: A man hailing from the mountains between Sentria and Mordache. He's a very large man; on the order of 6' 6", and quite muscular; not the kind of man you would normally find wielding a blade with such skill. But an axe was "too intimidating" and it would "scare the children". So, a sword it was. This gentle man takes on mercenary jobs, but only ones he sees as protecting the innocent. Extra: He breaks swords. A lot. Has black hair and brown eyes Player Name:Overlord of Night- Shadow Character Name:Ein Character Class: Archer Weapons: Elemental Bow (shoots magic-infused arrows) Personality: Adorable and sweet, but a complete klutz. Has no idea what he's doing. Backstory: A young boy from Adliana. Being a nomad, he was required to learn bowmanship, but he is completely worthless at it; he's the kind of person who can shoot one direction and hit something behind him. However, Celera, a girl he'd met before, enchanted his arrows with various spells that ignite on contact; so his aim doesn't affect it so much. Extra: Around 14, under 5' 6", has brown hair, green eyes, and tanned skin. Player Name: Overlord of Night- Shadow Character Name: Celera Character Class: Sage - No staves, all offensive magic. Weapons: Luna, Fimbulvetr Personality: Cold and businesslike. She doesn't like to talk about her past, and makes snap judgments. Backstory: Originally the daughter of a minor noble in Estarcia, a Duchess or something. Things happened, and she was abused, so she ran away. She met Ein at some point during her travels and gained enough affection for him to worry about him. However, she worries about herself more, hence why she's mastered various forms of offensive magic. Extra: Extremely pale, with silver-blue hair and eyes. About 5' 7" tall. Player Name: Phith Leico Character Name: Baldric Character Class: Lion Laguz Weapons: Claws, Fists Personality: Baldric is a commanding, angry man. If he says he's in charge, he's in charge, and those who don't agree get their opinions changed quite quickly. But, apart from the brutal exterior, his passionate side is almost sickeningly obsessive, to the point of smothering the subject both figuratively and literally(bear hugs). Backstory: One of the Lion Laguz in line for the throne, Baldric managed to just miss out on the position, something that filled him with contempt and rage. Luckily for Gallia, he ended up finding his way to Learania, where he managed to float around the continent until finding this challenge, one he took to prove that he can be in charge of whatever he wants, and it'd only take some glares and growls. Extra: Nothing of note, aside from the fact that he's a goliath of a man, like most Lion laguz, and has red hair, like most Lion laguz. AppearancePlayer Name: singin Fighter Character Name:Ruben Liraki Character Class: Hero Weapons: Brave sword and a shield. (Iron axe possible y/n your choice) Personality: A man of few words. He isnt very well educated but has a big heart. Backstory: He basically raised himself in a rural town except for his best friend who taught him how to fight. He grew up in Jehenna and became a simple mercenary. Extra: Appearance Player Name: ScarletApocalypse Character Name: Scar Character Class: Summoner (Light and Summons) Weapons: Divine Personality: She's loud and dominant and fierce. Backstory: Scar came from a place she doesn't remember. She grew up in a religious family where she learned how to use light magic, but her village was attacked when she was ten and she ran away. She was taken in by a group of spirit channelers, and there she repressed her previous memories and perfected her magic and the ability to summon spirits. Extra: AppearancePlayer Name: Renegade memory Character Name: Kane Meeno Character Class: Assassin Weapons: two silver daggers. Personality: Although he cant speak. Hes a very nice person. He always helps people when he can. He's only doing this to get money for his parents. Backstory: Well..Hes mute. The healers in his village can't explain why he cant talk. But he knows sign language that way he can communicate to others. Extra: Appearance Player Name: Hatori Miharu Character Name: Yula Chase Character Class: Berserker Weapons: Ball Hammer and Chain Hammer Personality: A sassy girl who thinks the world revolves around her. She has a tendency for saying the wrong things at the wrong time. Backstory: A 19 year old girl from a secret clan deep in the forests of Estarcia. At the age of 12, the minimum age to leave the clan, she was kicked out due to her unnaturally white hair. She has since, simply traveled the continent doing as she pleases, when she pleases. Extra: Roughly 4’8”. Appearance

Synopsis Confused of what's going on in this RP? Hmm? ^____^
Well, fear not. This post shall give you a play-by-play as to what happens in the story.Syposis All the contestants were gathered at the designated place, waiting for the contest to begin. Then, Rohan, the Vice Captain of the Gryphon Mercenaries, appeared and gave his speech. What the contestants didn't know was that Rohan was really a dead puppet, controlled by the masked man who was within the group. After the speech was given, all the contestants and the masked man entered the cave. Inside the maze, some of the contestants ran into the traps. Yula activated a trap where snakes fell on her and caused a cave-in. Jen came across a tiger in her path. Nadia fell into a trap that Silenced her magic. Samuel ran into a crow. While some of the contestants fell into booby traps, others decided to think strategically. Acteon decided to follow Jen from behind, watching and listening to the carnage Jen had left behind. Scar decided to team up with Baldric, who changed into his laguz form and charged through the maze and avoiding the traps. Unfortunately, due to his speed, he ran into various characters such as Nadia and Yula. In addition, Elise had became interested with his tail that she decided to follow him. Though all the contestants were in the labyrinth, one of them had fallen to death. Jen happened to see a message on the floor. After ignoring the message, she fell into a pit filled with steel spikes and half-submerged water with eels. With the wall covered with algae, the Swordsmaster was unable to lift herself from the trap and called for help. Acteon came by and gave her his hand. However, he was toying with her and decided to torment Jen by crushing her finger bones and slicing the fingers. After Acteon pulled his javelin, which eventually became Jen's only support, Jen had felt into the pit and met her death. Somewhere in the labyrinth, Yula encountered rats. She created another cave-in. As she was about to wander, Baldric passed her, causing her to tumble down and triggered the traps. Luckily, she was able to dodge the traps and crashed into Bliss. In another place, Kane encountered a trap. Being an assassin, he was able to dodged its trapped. Elsewhere, Corvus encountered a puzzle. Though he was able to solve the puzzle, the Swordsmaster had received an injury from a tricky puzzle trap. And in another place, Ein encountered a tunnel where he crawled through while Celera wandered elsewhere. At another location, Samuel encountered Nadia. Knowing that the Bishop had his magic, Nadia decided to take advantage of him. Unfortunately, their little introduction was cut off when a spiked boulder rolled toward them. They both managed to escape from the boulder. However, they encountered a puzzle that trapped them inside the labyrinth. Their only escape was to solve the puzzle. In the meantime, another victim had been killed in the labyrinth. This time, it was Corvus. While walking in the maze, he encountered one of the "moles." That mole happened to be Pietro. Pietro, pretending to be the contestant, accompanied with Corvus. However, they both entered a huge hallway that was full of traps. Corvus activated the trap, making them ran for the exit. Unfortunately, Corvus had fallen into another trap. This time, his foot was trapped in the floor. When he asked for help, Pietro obliged. However, the assassin was helping himself when he activated the trap and escaped it, causing the Swordsmaster to receive the darts barrage. Being tricked by the assassin, Corvus cut his own foot and attacked Pietro. However, Pietro countered his attack. The attack went on until Corvus could no longer move due to the darts' effect. Pietro gave Corvus the Kiss of Death and tried to leave him to rot. However, Corvus informed Pietro that the assassin would die from his own poison too. This made the assassin annoyed and killed the Swordsman with his own Brave Sword. Elsewhere, Bliss and Yula decided to team up together. However, they both ended up at the fork, deciding which path to take. Not far from them was Celera. She had decided to follow them, using the same method as Acteon, letting the competitors dealing with the traps. At another place, Baldric had been running in circles. Not wanted to get lost, he decided to take a different route. From there, he encountered a trap, which he overcame it... And ran into Pietro. Luckily, Pietro dodged it and took a ride on Baldric. Unfortunately for Baldric, Pietro berserked him with some sort of Berserk Bomb. Affected by the powder, Baldric bucked Scar in the labyrinth, leaving the poor Summoner behind. Following his feral instinct, the Berserk Baldric decided to hunt.... And it seemed that his prey was Kane. Back in the trapped room, both Nadia and Samuel tried to figure out the riddle. Both had their own idea of what the answer was. However, as Samuel pulled the "I" lever, it turned out that his answer was wrong. Samuel activated the trapped, which he received a full dosage of salt acid. While Samuel was being burned to death, Nadia had escape from the salt acid. Unfortunately, she met her death when a huge stone pillar fell on top of her and her horse. Somewhere, Bliss had troubled deciding which tunnel to choose. So she did what was obvious to her: randomly pointing the tunnel until she chose the dark tunnel. At another place, Elise had lost sight of Baldric. However, she did ran into Scar. Elsewhere, Ruben was minding his own business until he activated the trap. Not wanted to be crushed, Ruben had narrowly escaped, but he had sacrificed his foot to escape the crushing wall. Nearby, Kane heard Baldric's roar and decided to be cautious. However, Baldric was impatient to wait for his prey that he went and caught Kane from behind. Ruben, hearing the roar, went to the source and went to help rescue Kane. However, this upset Baldric when having his dinner interrupted. Wanted to teach Ruben not to mess with him and also using the weapon, Baldric used Kane as a makeshift club by grabbing him onto the neck. With the force of the swing, Baldric impaled Kane with Ruben's swords. To make good measure, Baldric jerked Kane's neck. Afterwards, Baldric attacked Ruben who was not defenseless. Like Kane, Ruben was instantly killed as Baldric mauled his neck. With both Ruben and Kane dead, Baldric was enjoying his feast. Back to Yula and Bliss, after deciding which tunnel to go to, they went into the dark tunnel. However, the tunnel they entered turned into a slip and slide, leading them to unknown area. Meanwhile, Ein continued crawling in the tunnel when he heard a noise. Trying to get away from the noise, Ein fell out of the tunnel and landed into a spider web. It seemed that the Archer had landed in the nesting area of Bael. Luckily, Ein managed to escape with the use of his arrows and ran. The Bael chased after him. It wasn't long until they stopped, for Ein had fell into a tar pit. In another area, Acteon wandered into the maze. Like Ein, he came across a nesting ground of the wyverns. Unfortunately, unlike Ein, Acteon noticed that some of the wyverns were dead. It turned out that the wyverns were killed by another mole. And that mole turned out to be Siegell, the Daein mercenary. Exciting of having a new player, Siegell challenged Acteon to a flight fight. Both aerial fighters fought, but Siegell had the upper advantage. With his mount down and dead, Acteon didn't have enough strength to battle against Siegell and complained to him. It was then that Siegell went a little insane. We discovered what was the cause of Siegell's disfigured face as he killed Acteon by the Falcoknight's own weapon. The Daein Wyvern Lord let out his insanity laugh. Elsewhere, Elise decided to follow Scar, when she heard something. It was a merry laugh and it reminded her of her homeland. Thinking that she was really home, Elise dragged Scar to the source of laughter. However, what she didn't know was that it was Pietro who was laughing. Laughing from the center of the labyrinth. Nearby the center, Yula and Bliss were the first to arrive the center. And following behind them was Celera. As the duo entered, they encountered someone in the center. That person was none other then Adele. Back to Siegell, the Wyvern Lord was looting the corpse, only to find that the corpse was a man. He then hurried to the center, avoiding the traps. However, he didn't expect to run into Adele. When Adele saw him, she rushed over. She saw Celera hidden in the shadows. Due to self-defense, Celera threw her spell at Adele, which made her injured Bliss. After that, the two moles began to chat. Behind Siegell was his mount. Shatash saw Celera and tried to eat her. However, the Sage cast her spell and committed suicide before the dragon could. Though Siegell and Adele were reunited, their reunion came off bitter. With Adele's order to kill Siegell to pay off her debt and a bit of personal grudge, she went off to attack Siegell. Now, both of the moles were fighting against each other. Meanwhile, Scar and Elise came. However, as Scar approached Yula, the spirits were anxious to kill someone. Therefore, they began to tear up Yula. Not far from where Yula was, Bliss was struggling to get to her. Back to Adele and Siegell, as they parried, Siegell had managed to kill her. But before she died, Siegell informed her that she was fired, ending the battle. With all the contestants here, it contest was now over. Contestants' Status Samuel = DEAD Nadia = DEAD Bliss = Survived Elise = Survived Acteon = DEAD Jen = DEAD Corvus = DEAD Ein = DEAD Celera = DEAD Baldric = Survived Ruben = DEAD/Eaten Scar = Survived Kane = DEAD/Eaten Yula = DEAD

Rules of the Contest The contest is simple. Oh, yes. Indeed, it is.
All you have to do is reach the center of the labyrinth. However, there are traps, puzzles, and moles waiting for you. So don't expect it to win so easily. Hmm? ^______^Rules1.) Follow the rules in the third post. 2.) Don't act like you know the labyrinth so well. It's not like you know that area from the back of your hand. 3.) There are traps, puzzles, moles, and dead ends in the labyrinth, so make sure you encounter them. Don't act like every path you've take is clear and trap-free for you. 4.) If your OC character is dead, that character stays dead. 5.) Once the contest begin, you will have few hours to roam wherever your character go. After all, it's killing time. We will not alert you when your character is dead. >3

The sun rose up in the morning sky. The golden rays shined through the thickets and trees, created the paths of light in the dark forest. Near the edge of the forest was a cave covered in moss. In front of the cave entrance were people.
The people were chatting among themselves, wondering what sort of contest awaited them. Some had came to look for job. Others came to claim the prizes. However, one among the group had a different motive. Standing behind from the group was a masked man, looking at the contestants.
Although he wore in black, there were some colors along with some sparkling small gems. He watched each and every one of the contestants, observing them. Then a sly grin appeared on his face. He thought menacing. It's show time.
He leaned his back against the tree and then pulled the knot with his foot that was tied loosely from the root. The man quickly, tied the fish wires around his fingers as he looked up above the cave.
"Can I have your attention, please?" A voice cried out.
The contestants stopped their conversation and turned to the person who spoke. Standing on top of the cave entrance was a dark silhouette of a figure. It was hard to see the appearance for the sun was behind the figure, causing a glare to the contestants. Though the appearance of the figure remained a mystery, the voice was not hard to distinguish.
It sounded that the man was in his mid-life age. The voice was deep and stern, but it also had the hints of patient and wisdom. All eyes turned to the man before them, listening to him. The man continued to spoke.
"I am Rohan, Vice Captain of the Gryphon Mercenaries. I am your host and judge of this contest. You are here today for not only to claim the prize, but to seek hire service from us. I thank you for your cooperation of participating to this contest and I wish you the best of luck.
For centuries, we the Gryphon Mercenaries have thrived throughout this continent, seeking those who are in need of our service as well as getting payment. Now, our number of mercenaries is dwindling into a group of five. Therefore, we've decided to hold the tradition of our hiring service today.
In this contest, you are to enter this cave. Within the cave is a labyrinth. To win, you must reach into the heart of the labyrinth, which is the center of the labyrinth. Hidden within the labyrinth are traps and puzzles. You are to be tested not only your strength and courage, but also your agility, intelligence, and cunning. Those who have passed our labyrinth test shall be rewarded.
Those who wish to participate, wait for my signal. Those who didn't, I shall ask you to leave. This contest is a difficult task to achieve. So if you value your life, then turn around and walk away."
So far, none of the contestants leave. After a minute, 'Rohan' spoke. "Very well, then. Let the contest begin!"
At that word, a puff of smoke appeared from his feet, swallowing 'Rohan'. Those who were impatient ran inside the cave. Others waited to see the host. When the smoke disappeared, so was the host. It was as if he disappeared.
The masked man chuckled as he cut the wires from his fingers. Those contestants were fools. They fell right into the trap. Not only were there traps and puzzles that may prevent them, but there were moles too. Not the furry animals that loved to dig holes, but the type of moles that would sabotage the contest. And he was one of the moles. With nearly all the contestants entering the cave, he got up and walked. Now that the contestants were in, it was time for him to play with them.
As he marched to the cave entrance, he was blocked by two tall, bulk men.
"Hey, Bruce. Check out this fellow. Trying to be a hero?"
"Didn't your mommy tell you that Halloween is over."
Despite the laughter from the two men, the masked man gave a smile. He spoke. "Oh, no. Indeed, I am not. However, it's too bad that you won't be able to participate."
The masked man walked passed the two men and headed to the cave entrance. But after he passed them, there were blood-coiled screams heard. Both man screamed in agony as blood spurted out from their bodies. There were cuts all over their bodies that magically appeared out of nowhere. There were multiples stabbed wounds over their chests, backs, and the heads. Two men fell down and no breath of life came out from their mouths.
The masked man chuckled sinisterly as he pulled the near-invisible string before entering the cave. Something fell from the top of the cave entrance and landed in front. It was Rohan, the corpse of one of the contestants. The menacing laughter was echoed in the cave.

Jen lifted her head up once the man started talking. He looked too cheerful for her really. Maybe that's because she was in her killer mindset and not her friendly one.
"A maze eh?" She told herself, "That's not too bad."
Jen took off into the cave. She didn't care much for a prize. She just wanted the blood from people. Before she took off, Jen removed her silver sword from its sheath. She then ran her way into the maze. Being a swordmaster Jen was fast. She took a left then a right, then another right. She stopped, dead end.
"Damn," She cursed before she went back the way she came. This time she took a right then a left then a right. Things looked ok for her, for now.

♪|Yula|♪ ♫Praise my Name always, like now!♫
♫My name is victory!♫ “Oh these contests are always such a drag. Why, oh, why are they so addicting?” Yula muttered, as she made a sorry attempt to keep cool by fanning herself with her hand. She was seated rather comfortably on her ball hammer, which was roughly the size of a large dog. Despite its size, it was a rather light weapon, having been forged in a way that would allow it to be used with speed, while still retaining power. Her second weapon, a chain hammer, was strapped neatly to her back with two small belts that were attached to her armor.
“Hrm, when is this thing going to start?” Her head rocked from side to side lightly, sending her white hair cascading around her shoulders with each movement. Yula wasn’t exactly a patient person when it came to anyone aside from herself, and when she did decided to be patient for others; she expected them to compensate for it. Her honey brown eyes flickered towards the ground as she scuffed her booted feet against the soft green grass.
“Oh, the grass is so green today! It must be green with envy because of… me!” She hummed in delight at the trivial thought that she had just entertained; such things were common occurrences with Yula though. Her attention was stolen away from the very interesting grass and her own thoughts, as some man by the name of Rohan began to speak. On second thought, the grass proved to be more interesting; for Yula turned her gaze back to the ground not a mere second after looking up in the direction of the speaker. “Pff, he’s just trying to steal my spot light because he’s dumb and old. No wonder he needs my help. He’s lucky I have the time for him!”
A content smile reached across her lips as the incredibly short teen stood up and gently flicked her hair to the side out of her eyes in a show or arrogance. She patted her armor lightly as the man finished his little speech, “I sure hope all that talking made him feel good inside, he sure needs it.”
Before departing as others began doing, the berserker reached down as her hand clasped tightly around her favorite weapon’s handle. Depending how strong or weak she wanted to look, she would drag the weapon behind her or support it on her shoulder; today she opted for dragging it. “Time to go kill some cocky conte—oh, no, I mean, uh… make soup. Bleh, now I’m hungry, that stupid man should have gave me some food before he vanished,” she grumbled as she made her way into the cave.

٭I have no use for sentiment. That is a fool's emotion.٭ +Nadia+ Nadia had arrived for a 'contest' of sorts, just listening to the man as he was finishing up his speech. She knew that he would go on, and go forward and succeed all in the name of herself.
Nothing else mattered to her, nothing but winning. She had no compassion for the others, and would not help them, for they were all hindrances for her ultimate goal, to be perfect at the contest like everything else, her looks, her magic, everything. Traps did not matter. Trials did not matter. Nadia Orento would go through it all.
Her horse, just as driven as she was (if not more) by the pull of battle urged itself forward. The steed was rumored to be the reincarnation of a madman, always stampeding into trouble the first chance it got. Not that its rider minded at all, it gave her a chance to show her superiority in magic.
The valkyrie readied the Fimbulvetr tome, the same one that had frozen the parts of her mind and heart that cared for others. She'd use it more... much more. "We shall win this... just like everything else... and we shall be the best." she said to her steed, as they approached the labyrinth.٭All that matters is if one is perfect in everything they do.٭

♥ ~ BLISS ~ ♥ Brenda Blakely, otherwise known as Bliss, kept a bright smile on her face, nodding enthusiastically to every word the vice captain was saying. She was in the right place at the right time. "Oh, how wonderful~!" The girl said to herself with a small giggle, rotating the healing staff in her hand. She was so excited! Her eyes were on a prize, but it wasn't the reward that Rohan was offering; no, it was the heart of her one true love back home! Her heart raced at the thought of him and a delicate, pink blush appeared on her cheeks. Oh, she could imagine him now upon hearing the wonderful news that she won the contest!
He would sweep me up in his arms, tell me how wonderful and beautiful I am, and then... The druid placed her hands against her now-red cheeks, a silly grin on her face. "Eee~!" Bliss squealed happily, her light-blue eyes shutting with delight.
Of course, when she reopened them, she noticed that some people were heading into the cavern ahead of her! "How dare they!" She pouted, resting her hands on her hips. "This will just not do...!" Another giggle escaped her lips and she skipped off towards the cave, Mend in hand and Flux, which was disguised so well as Light, hitting against her hip with each step she took.
Bliss would not accept defeat; her whole future was on the line!

--ACTEON-- Yeah, I DO have a problem with you. Acteon looked up when Rohan spoke, his blue eyes sharp and attentive as he stared into the man's eyes- a man of power, this was, and probably had a stick up his a**, to boot. Wonderful. At least he knew why they were there, and was ready to cut the bullshit and go straight to the chase. While yes, he was a fair bit chatty, all of his words actually meant something, rather than the superfluous fluff that all the dignitaries seemed to use when addressing mercenary forces.
With a grin, he tugged the reigns of his pegasus, who snorted in turn- he furrowed his violet brows and jerked them again, leading his lazy steed forward. Bellerophon hadn't tolerated having a rider astride his back if all he was going to do was sit there, so he now stood just behind his master, huffing and pawing at the ground. He despised being surrounded by units of all types, and the stallion could even see a quiver of arrows, held by a young archer.
He stretched his wings, letting his master pull him forward and accepting the weight when he felt those familiar armored feet clamber into the stirrups. For however much his transvestite rider lacked in feminine charm, he made up for it in skill, slinging himself over the saddle in one easy motion despite his mount's movements as they trotted confidently into the maze's twisting halls.
His gloved hand flexed as he directed his steed down the first set of halls, turning to follow Jen and keeping at a fair distance back. All she would hear would be the ominous, echoing clopping sound as Bellerophon's hooves struck the ancient stone that paved the floors. With the corridors twisting as much as they were, determining the location of anything was all but impossible in this echoing maze.
His hand gripped on his Javelin, and he kept it close, feeling his steed shake his head at the close quarters. While straightaways allowed him the opportunity to use altitude to his advantage, corners were another element altogether.
Let's see what they think an Ilian Pegasus Knight can't handle.

Corvus was a huge guy, standing at around 6' 6". He towered over most of the contestants; in fact, he'd hit his head on a branch on the way in. That'd hurt. He listened to the man talking; that guy didn't really sound like a real Vice-Captain. Probably a figurehead of some sort. But then he was done, and Corvus went off into the maze.
Ein was an adorable little shota-archer that everybody liked because he was so cute. But he was like really worthless, which sucked. He tripped all over himself and spilled all his arrows and then started picking them up before someone stepped on them.
Celera the albino-ish mage girl came over to help him, because he was her friend and one of the very few people she kinda almost liked and she'd enchanted his arrows with magic for him. She told him he should be more careful, except he ran into the maze and hit his head on the wall while running. Celera sighed and simply walked in after him.

I wonder, I wonder...♪ Elise ♪ I wonder why each little bird has a someone... To sing to... Elise had wandered in. No, quite literally wandered in, quite accidentally, at that.
It all started merely an hour ago, with quite the odd experience of passing through her guardian's closet- whoever knew that someone had thought of installing some weird contraption in the closet, of all places? Falling through after trying to see if Mr. Buns knew why the closet shook after a hawk 'cousin' of hers put weird pieces of paper on it, it was all Elise could do to try to wrap her very limited mind around the situation.
All she knew were the following things:
One. Whatever this place was, it wasn't warm. It felt... ah, what was the word? Cold.
Yes! Cold!
She felt a little proud of herself already.
For another moment, she paused before trying to figure out what she was thinking about before. Oh, yes! It was dark. Quite dark. It wasn't light, like back in her home forest. And though there were dark, leafy green trees here, too, it just seemed... off. She couldn't place it!
Holding her stuffed rabbit close to her, Elise looked up at the unfamiliar surroundings and listened, her sensitive ears immediately honing in on the sound of voices. Maybe her brown-wing and black-winged friends were here, waiting for her! She was always told not to wander away, but she liked to! It was just that she did it so often...
She let out a little sneeze, following Rohan's voice to the source and walking straight to the middle of the group, not really understanding that all the poky gray things that made her wings uncomfortable were in reality quite dangerous; all she knew was that someone was talking! She always had to listen when people were talking to her.
When people started moving into the labyrinth, she instinctively followed, not knowing where she was going but knowing that inside would probably be better than outside, if everyone was going in!
After all, these people must have been very smart.
...Right?To sing to...Sweet things to... A gay little melody?

Kane was sharpening one of his knives then heard a voice announcing what the contest was going to be. Thinking to himself, "A maze huh? Boy thats going to be tricky. I was never good at puzzles either. Might as well go through it for mother." as he walked slowly into the cave infront of them.
At First Kane took a left then a right then another left and ended up at a dead end. "Damn it! Why did it have to be a maze. Why couldnt it be a fight." he thought to himself as he back tracked the way he came and went the opposite way he came and trekked forward.
