xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!" "The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!" "Ahh... time for some breakfast. Got to have a good start for this day. Meatballs are always good in the morning. And at night. And the rest of the day. Now, where were they.... Ate several yesterday, gave some to Umbriel, lodged one in Tori's gorge, I'm sure she's breathing by now... Hawk Man's wife was looking for cooking recipes and ingredients-.... ....SON OF A b***h!"
Today was the day. The guard was once the proud and mighty force of Learania, led overall by several of the crew, and backed by perhaps thousands of "faceless". When Madriana first invaded, the guard was led into battle, and overcome. Since then, several officers remained among a much smaller number of faceless. However, after more ordeals, almost all of those were gone, as well. The guard was in shambles, an utter laughing stock. There was no way it could literally guard anybody. That's when a woman discovered that the old captain of the guard was relinquishing his command, and decided to take her opportunity. Perhaps it was to relieve the shame of never recovering her command in her own world. In any case, she became the new captain, and began making big changes to the mass of sorry individuals formerly known as the Guard. The guildaversary had helped in reestablishing their name, but it wasn't enough. So, she made plans to further grow. Today was the day.
"WANT TO PROTECT YOUR COUNTRY? JOIN THE GUARD. All those interested, come ready to the castle at noon on the third day after the new moon, by request of the new Captain of the Guard The Guard WILL be restored. Be a part of it."
The shadows vanished, and the heat rose. Clanks resounded from behind the giant door which connected the training grounds to the castle. The clanks got louder an louder, and some could swear they felt the ground shaking, though they were most likely just nervous. As the sounds reached their climax, it suddenly grew silent. Suddenly, the door busted open and banged against the castle wall. Vaida emerged from the opening, and walked forward to face those who wished to join up. A smile's seed sprouted and grew rapidly, but with a menacing tint, as if grown amongst thorns. "Greetings, puny commonfolk" She started "...Let your fate be determined now!"
If crew has an issue with my facts, enlighten me. FEFers who want to join the guard can join this. If you wouldn't show up realistically, as in if you're not in the castle or have business with the guard, then piss off. No n00bs, idiots, assholes, or douches. Bitches are ok, though. What I'm really saying is you better RP at least half decently. Characters of Significance:Vaida- Wyvern Lord Vaida Tori- Soren WiIder(apparently left?!) Joshua stood in the line of guard hopefuls. He hadn’t been in Learania long but needed some way of making money and this seemed as easy as any for at least until he managed to find a way home to Jehanna he ha promised his mother... The Swordmaster banished those thoughts as he adjusted the hat on his red hair nervously when the clanging started. Suddenly the doors burst open someone screamed loudly at this point. The women’s face split into the scariest smile Joshua had ever seen. "I feel sorry for whoever screamed.." He thought as the girl said something about being puny commoners. "Good that’s the way I like it."
Jaren stood front and centre in the line up. As usual he was enthusiastic about being part of the guard. Jaren liked to help people. Not only that but his best friend was beside him.... well his only friend really since coming to Learania he had streaked and come very close to being arrested so he figured he should pay back his debt to society. He really didn't care to go home very much as Jaren liked adventure... the mage beside him on the other hand.
"I don’t see why I have to be here. I hate people." Derrin said, "And if you hadn’t jumped me while I was reading and tied me up I wouldn't have to sit through this drivel my skills are to much for me to join some pathetic force that everyone goes on about how terrible it is."
"Hey! Its good to help people Derrin... And besides if I didn't tie you up you’d just run away. So I-- HEEEE!" At that moment the doors to the castle banged open and the scariest women Jaren had ever seen came out. Jumping back in shock and bumping into the person behind him he shrieked his hands flew to his mouth as he realised what he had just done.
"Good job moron! Attract attention to us why not?" Derrin hissed at the Myrmidon

After being held up in the bottom of that prison, Jaffar was being led into the guards grounds by his parole officer whos name he didnt bother to care for. "Listen here you assassin I'm going to enroll you into the guard to serve out your time. If you make one mistake its right back to jail." Jaffar rolled his eyes at him and replied with a simple nod since Jaffar didn't talk much since only if Nino was around.
"Let your fate be determined now!" Jaffar heard as the parole officer removed his shackles and handcuffs and being bumped into the idiot myrmidon, Jaffar's hands darted for his dagger and quickly held it to the myrmidons neck. "Get...in line....and don't touch me again....," he whispered quietly into the myrmidons ear and joined the line while putting his knife away.

A tall figure walked quietly into the training grounds through the recently-opened door and got in line with the other new-comers. Were it not for the axe slung across his back, he could easily be mistaken for a magic-user. The slightly-insane looking woman was talking, so Sin decided to keep is mouth shut.

xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!" "The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!" Vaida looked over the crowd, her menacing smile still holding firm. She was trying to get a good assessment of what had been brought to her. There was a nice amount of people here, but who knew how many there would be.. afterward.
"There's a lot of you who showed up today! That's good, it means you got some loyalty in you. But I can't ensure complete protection on loyalty alone! I need those who are prepared, those who follow orders, and those who do not fear death. Or better yet, those who do fear death, but fight anyway! That being said... all those among you who came with no weapons, leave now and go home! I have no use for you. If you're here because of some foolish dream of glory, go home! You will only slow us down. But if you are here, because you have something to protect... then stand firm, and make no eye contact with those who choose to leave."
Vaida ceased speaking, and soon afterwards, about ten or so men with no weapons slowly made their way through the exit. They were soon followed by other citizens, and a few more after that. Their heads hang low, as they left, for they knew they did not make the cut. Those that remained all kept their heads forward, most likely in fear of what would happen if they did not obey. Perhaps some understood that it was out of respect, to not look upon those who, though they may posses loyalty, are not suited for the guard. After enough time was given for people to leave, those who remained counted roughly between fifty to thirty men or women at first glance. Vaida smirked. Now she knew the real ones who had potential.
"Congratulations. You have passed test one! For those who do not wish to be here, unless under special circumstances beyond my control, should not be here. From this moment onward, consider yourself contestants for The Guard! If you pass all tests given, you will then have the honor of becoming part of it. Until that moment, those around you are not your allies! Now then, I will give you some time to prepare for the next test. I will not tell you what the next test will be, or when it will be, for true members of The Guard must be prepared for all situations, and be ready exactly when they are called upon. You will find supplies and extra weaponry along the wall behind you. ...Choose your friends wisely... as well as your enemies."
Vaida turned around, her cape swinging behind her, as she turned, and walked back into the castle she had just come out of not but a moment ago. The doors slammed shut, after she had entered the castle, creating two large banging noises. And thus, an awkward silence began.
"U-um...." A timid voice called out from behind the crowd. "Please, use these supplies here. There should be anything you may need, here...." As those who remained turned around to see who was speaking, a girl with orange hair and red armor stood shyly to the side of many barrels and tables, containing various items and weapons. "W-we also have some snacks and some water, so help yourself, please." She said, with a small smile on her face.

Rook The Unbreakable Catapulter Rook stood there at attention, silent as he listened to Viada speak. He was no longer a commander, but he knew that a commander deserved respect. They did not get there by sitting down and doing nothing. The way he knew it, it was a position attainable only by the best. He carried no weapons on him. Originally he wouldn't be suprised if someone caught him and ordered him out, but he didn't care. He had a weapon. It was just a little bulky to carry around. But It wasn't like he could, or that there was a need for him to push a catapult into the castle, instead, he had put it safely away in a corner of the castle. He was reassured now. If they needed someone for every situation, there wasn't anyone besides the commander that could throw him out now. He looked at the door. He contemplated going up to it and Finally he spoke quietly to the timid girl. "Miss, would you tell me how I can meet with the Commander of the Guard?"

Jaren felt the coldness against his neck and came close to screeching again. When the women spoke again....
"All those among you who came with no weapons, leave now and go home! I have no use for you. If you're here because of some foolish dream of glory, go home! You will only slow us down. But if you are here, because you have something to protect... then stand firm"
Jaren gulped as he relized he met none of the requirements. He hadn't bought a sword yet so he didn't have one and he wasnt here to protect anyone... he just wanted a job to make some money. He turned to look at the guy who threatened to stab him... "Uhhh... Hey you wouldn't happen to have a spare sword would you?" He whispered as his eyes met the mans he felt a chill. "Umm ya I didnt think so" Quickly snapping his head back to the front he gulped heavily but remained rooted to the spot...
Eventually after talking a little more the women turned and strode inside.
"Huh Derrin I guess that means we're competeing against eachother?" He turned to where the mage had been standing but his friend was gone.
"Wha?!" He shouted in shock jumping back again and jostling the man behind him... he had no time to think aabout this perhaps fatal error as he noticed that where Derrin had been was now a wooden sword with a note attached to it.
"Dear Fool You left this at home. And I don't trust you with a real sword." Derrin
Jaren picked up the wooden sword and stared at it removing the note and letting it flutter to the ground... he couldn't read anyway so what did it matter to him.
He turned to where a women was offering snacks and water and walked over. Putting the wooden sword in his belt (It would have to do for now) He reached for a glass when a sudden thought struck him. "W-what if its poisened!" Jaren stumbled back away from the water now convinced it WAS poisened. His eyes darted around like those of a captured animal. That women had said that the test could come at anytime! Jaren was almost hysterical by now.
His voice rose shakily above the din of the crowd.
"D-don't w-worry Mam I-i'm prepared for anything!" He shouted out his eyes still darting everywhere.
Joshua listened with barely conceled boredom he gave the leaveing people their dignity and instead watched the women up front. "I wonder if she likes to gamble?" He thought to himself plucking a special coin from his pouch and making it dance across his knuckles.
Eventually the women went back inside and left them all standing there. "Well that was anti-climatic." He muttered turning his head to look at the others. Simply walking up to the nearest person he asked. "Excuse me? Would you like to make a small wager?" He smiled winningly at the stranger as he tossed the coin he had been rolling around into the air and caught it.

Rook The Unbreakable Catapulter Rook looked at the man who had asked him. A swordsman by the looks of it. He glared down at the man with unwavering eyes. "Betting is a waste of time. There is no such thing as luck. Only skill and strength. We are here to do a job. NOT piddle around making polite convesation. I have served for many years and I do not plan on making bets with the likes of you!"
