MADAME HOOCH'S OFFICE Good afternoon! Step lively! Don't be shy!
Welcome to my office. Here, is where you can openly present your concerns, questions, comments, and/or suggestions regarding Quidditch for open discussion with me and other members of the Guild. All posts will be put under consideration by me, and responded to as soon as possible. There will be no dilly-dally in here, (or on the Pitch for that matter).
If you would rather send the above stated material to me privately, I would be more than happy to receive the information by owl (PM). Please address all owls to xTahirux, my private secretary, for sorting and delivery to my office.
Then, of course, if you'd rather find the answers for yourself, there are several resources:
-The Offical Rule Book of Quidditch: This is the general "rules of play," for our Guild's Quidditch!
-Quidditch News and Try-out Info: Here's where you can try-out for your house's Quidditch team!
-Oliver's Headquarters: Check here often for the latest announcements.
If these prove fruitless, you can also ask for assistance from our current Quidditch Captains:
Gryffindor: SuperKoolPartyGal101 Hufflepuff: LilyEvansDouble Ravenclaw: Cerbera Dragon Slytherin: Garnet17th
They would be happy to help you in any way possible!
Thank you for coming! Your visit has been a pleasure, but as wonderful as it is to have you in my office, I would love to see you on the Pitch! Any good with a broomstick? Consider trying out, would you?

Hello! I was just wondering when the first game would be. Gryffindor/Slytherin, I believe. It's just that February has passed already, and the little mock games we attempted to have failed...

S e x i i M i s s 1 0 1 Hi. Just one quick question. Where are the games held? As of now, games will be held in the main forum, where they will be clearly seen and easily accessed. Oliver will be posting a game announcement on game day that will have a link to the thread where the current game will be held, so you can look in "Oliver's Headquarters" in "The Quidditch Pitch" subforum if you can't find it anywhere else.turayza Hello! I was just wondering when the first game would be. Gryffindor/Slytherin, I believe. It's just that February has passed already, and the little mock games we attempted to have failed... A date has just been set for the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin game! The game will take place on Saturday, April 5th, 2008 at 6:00 pm London, UK time!
Yes, it's true. All of our attempts at a trial game have been failures. I'm trying to figure out why, but I think it may have to do with calculating the time zone incorrectly mixed with unavailibility and possible lack of interest.
I'm afraid we can't afford to have a Trial Game now, seeing how we are so far behind schedule and will have to hold more than one game a month for a bit! I'm just worried that we won't have enough people show up to the actual games!
To those reading: PLEASE DO ALL YOU CAN TO SHOW UP, and ON TIME! If it's the time zone your having trouble with, that's what the link is for! It's not that hard to calculate the game time! Ask someone else to help you if you can't figure it out! Your parents, a friend, anyone! Just make sure you get there on time!
I've been putting the games on the weekends, and most always on a Saturday! (I tried Sunday, but we'll keep that day off-limits from now on). I'd hope that will help with the availibility problems.
If you can't show up to a game, let your Captain know so he/she can get a BU on the job!

Um...so the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin match is on Saturday, April 19th, 6:00 PM London, UK time. And that would be around 11:00 AM my time, so I can't make it (I've got school)... so you might need to find a new score keeper. I think the Quidditch games might not actually work as planned--each team has people from all over the time zones, so the 3-4 hour game will be rather...difficult. I'd still like to be score keeper, but my classes don't end until around 12:30 (my time zone is 8 hours behind London time) so I can't make it. Sorry. >.>'

Er... Looks like I was wrong. I'm at a math competition the whole day (my time) and will not be back in front of a computer until after 3:00 AM London, UK time. So...unfortunately, I can't make it. Sorry I can't help out the first match of the year...you'll want to find another person to be scorekeeper.

Being scorekeeper doesn't mean you HAVE to be in attendence at the games! (It's nice and all, and I'm not being rude, but the scorekeeper doesn't have to be).
If you are unable to attend, I will simply send you the scores to put on record! :3
As for the game times, this has been undergoing some discussion. For now, just everyone who can show up on time; show up on time. As you may have noticed, there is a small addition to the 'Official Rule Book' under 'Game Play,' concerning 'Game duration.'
It mentions that how long a game lasts is unpredictable, considering it's determined by the Seekers. Therefore, games begin and are played as long as we possibly can using BU's and what-not. When too many people have to leave, the game is delayed for another day (keeping the same scores, progress, etc.). This means a game could progress bit by bit for a series of days. This puts even less stress on players.
I'm glad you've brought this up, and no, I'm not going to get a new scorekeeper unless you really don't want the job anymore. We're trying to make Quidditch as easy as we can, and I'm proud of the patience the members have shown thus far.
Thank you!

That's the player's job to keep track of how many Personal Points they have! It's the scorekeeper's job to keep record of many GOALS have been made, (by individual players, the individual teams, and in the game as a whole.) This is still a hefty task, but it's not too difficult. I'll be helping you out anyway! ^^
I'm glad this cleared things up for you!

A link to the thread will be posted in various places/announcements just in case it's difficult to find!
The pitch for this Saturday's, (April 19th), game is being created as we speak along with a new announcement! Keep your eyes out for it!

Alright I got a pm about quidditch being back up, and I had a few concerns about it. I don't know about the rest of the teams, but I do know that the Hufflepuff house has lost several of the players we had tryout. At least they are not active in the common room. This means I'll need time to see how many team members I have, and I may even need to rehold tryouts. It's the 24th of November, if we plan on holding the first game the 1st of december that doesn't leave much time to prepare and to hold tryouts if needed. I also need to know if it's alright with the other teams if I call in a vice captain because I'll be here for the 1st Hufflepuff game, but the 2nd one starts the day I leave for Marine Boot camp and the last one is while I'm still in boot camp. So are the playoff games, so I'll need a VC to be there while I'm in boot camp.
