THE OFFICIAL QUIDDITCH RULE BOOK:
-Hard up for a wicked game of Quidditch? You've got to know what you're in for first!-

LadyHealingHands
Well, I'm quite open to it, and I can imagine several ways it could work. I just don't know how interested people are, if we have enough to form 4 teams within Haven, or perhaps ONE team that takes on other Guild's team. How about sharing and asking for ideas in the main forum, with a poll to see what people want. Does it stay in the main forum or should it be in the RP forum?
Do they want it? Will they play? Do you want to rehearse a team, say in the RP forum for a few weeks and then launch a game? Go for it!
I'd love to see your ideas - how it would work, would one thread do?
How the positions are picked, how the action works, etc.

These were the words of one of our beloved, Heads of House when I proposed bringing Quidditch back to Hogwarts on Wednesday, Dec 26, 2007. As soon as I heard that the game fell through in the past, I was determined to bring it back for good! What in the world is Hogwarts without Quidditch!? Through an incredible amount of support from you, the members, and the moderators; this dream has become a reality!

This is our final draft of the rules of Quidditch, and how it will play out. These are still very subject to change/modification, however. Please post your suggestions, ideas and or comments HERE, where they will be considered.

The first thing you'll want to do before reading our Guild Quidditch rules, you must have a basic understanding of JK Rowling's Quidditch rules! Please go HERE to read the basic rules and regulations. MOST of these rules apply, but there are a few that will not apply to our Guild Quidditch. This is the list of non-applicable rules I have so far:

-No substitution of players is allowed throughout the game, even if a player is too injured to continue to play: We have Back-up, (BU), players for this!

-Blatching: No player may fly with the intent to collide: We allow this to an extent.

Thank you all!

It was a combined effort that couldn't have come to pass without you!

Without further adeu, I present: The Official Quidditch Rule Book!

THE TEAMS:

THE PROCESS:

1.) Team Captain Try-outs
2.) Team Member Try-outs
3.) Team Setup

Try-outs for 4 Team Captains will be held first by Madame Hooch in January each year. As soon as they are selected, it is up to the Captains to gather as many players for their teams as they can by the end of January. Depending on how many players the Captains get, determines if there will be four, separate-house teams; or 2 house-meshed ones. Each team must have at LEAST 4, (but preferably at LEAST 7), players in order to have 4 separate-house teams.

It's not required that 7 players are on the pitch at ALL times! The LEAST amount of players you can have on the pitch is 4: 1 Seeker, 1 Keeper, 1 Beater, and 1 Chaser; but Back-ups, (BU's), are STILL available!

In short: Madame Hooch hosts tryouts for Captains, and Captains will hold tryouts for team members. All positions must be tried out for. Try-outs will be explained shortly, but first, let me explain three of the positions themselves: Madame Hooch, Team Captain, and the Back-ups, (BU's). The team member positions will be explained later on.

MADAME HOOCH is the "head-honcho" for Quidditch. She is the referee of the games, and she hosts the try-outs for, and instructs, all 4 team Captains. In order to hold this role, you must know the BASIC RULES/REGULATIONS, and the rules stated in this rule book exceptionally well. She also determines when games will be held. This is the highest position! You also get a pretty ORIGINAL AVATAR to use when portraying her! Observe:

User Image
MADAME HOOCH!
(Only Madame Hooch is permitted the use of this image.)
Position currently held by: xTahirux .

Madame Hooch is also responsible for receiving complaints. If you have problems with ANYONE or ANYTHING involved with Quidditch, you may send a complaint to Madame Hooch at ANY time via PM. Madame Hooch will take these complaints into consideration or to the person they concerned to be discussed.

If it is concerning a person, the name of the person who sent the complaint will remain anonymous; unless told otherwise. If a person receives an ENORMOUS amount of REASONABLE complaints, and fails to comply to stated changes or terms; that person may be subject to elimination from his/her position.

THE TEAM CAPTAINS will be selected by Madame Hooch through try-outs. The role of "Captain," is a job in which you maintain your team. The Captain hosts practices, selects his team mates through try-outs, gathers team scheduling, makes announcements given to him/her by Madame Hooch, reports to Madame Hooch, ect. Madame Hooch will be helping you out. This is the highest position on the team. The Captain can hold ANY position on the team!

Captains may also, if they'd like, select Co-Captains to take their place during absences; either temporary or long-term ones. And, if the Co-Captain is unavailable for a temporary or long-term period of time as well, the Co-Captain may select a Co-Co-Captain, ect.! This may not be necessary, but keep someone in charge to keep things under control!

BU's are the back-up Quidditch players. The easiest term used would be "bench warmers," but they are of much more importance. When a player is taken out of the game, it's up to the BU's to take that player's place! There are an UNLIMITED amount of BU's! It's up to the BU's to replace absent/"outed" players.

Imagine the BU's as sort of the Quidditch "stockpile." During a game, should EITHER team need an extra player or more, they can call on a BU to play ANY position needed! You could be a Keeper, Chaser, Beater, or Seeker for a temporary amount of time, or even the entire game; should you be called on! This will decrease the amount of stress put on players during games, considering we all have REAL lives behind the computer screen.

There is, however, one very important rule: If your team needs a BU, the BU MUST belong to your corresponding house (unless the teams become house-meshed, or we're VERY desperate)! We don't want Slytherin BU's playing for the Gryffindor team, or other houses doing the same! We don't want to have people going all "traitor!" O.o

The more BU's the merrier! We need as many as possible! As soon as main player positions are filled, anyone and everyone are free to try-out for a BU position!

The Team Set-Up:

House Name
-Keeper:
-Seeker:
-Beater:
-Beater:
-Chaser:
-Chaser:
-Chaser:
-BU's (Unlimited):

Keeping up? I hope so, because there's ALOT more than teams to worry about!

THE TRY-OUTS:

The first try-outs necessary are the one's for ALL 4 Team Captains! Without Team Captains, I'm afraid the venture of teams would be pointless. Captains are necessary to host try-outs for the team members, and are, therefore, the first concern.

Madame Hooch is responsible for the try-outs for Team Captains (and BU's.) Instead of necessarily "hosting" try-outs, those interested in the position of Team Captain must send Madame Hooch, (xTahirux,) a form through PMs. A form that would roughly look like this:

NOTE: NONE OF THE FORMS ON THIS PAGE ARE OFFICIAL! THEY ARE ONLY EXAMPLES!

Title the PM: "Captain!" Send the PM to Madame Hooch!
Username:
House: (Slytherin, Gryffindoor, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw)
Devotion: (How often are you online?)
Desired Position: (Chaser, Seeker, Keeper, or Beater)
Why do you want to be Captain?:
Why do you think you deserve to be Captain?:
Broom: (What type of broom do you have?)

Whatever is put under "House" is which team they would like to be Captain for. It is required that the "House" matches the one you were sorted into!

As soon as the 4 Team Captains are selected, they may host tryouts for team members. These try-outs can be done however the Captain chooses.

I, personally, suggest this be done in the same manner as Madame Hooch with forms. Those interested in trying out for team positions could PM forms to the Team Captain of which team they desire to be on. The forms, for example, could include:

Title the PM: "Go Team!" Send the PM to your corresponding Captain!
Username:
House: (Slytherin, Gryffindoor, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw)
Devotion: (How often are you online?)
Desired Position: (Chaser, Seeker, Keeper, or Beater)
Why do you want this position?:
Why do you think you deserve this position?:
Will you accept any position given to you?:
Broom: (What type of broom do you have?)

The details of how the Team Member Try-outs are held is up to the corresponding Captains! This is just what I would recommend!

BU Try-outs are hosted by Captains during the pre-Quidditch season (January), then by Madame Hooch and/or Captains during the season (February - December)! You cannot try-out for/will not be placed as a BU until all the main team positions are filled!

The Team Captains may use whatever try-out methods they would like in order to select BU's, but Madame Hooch will be using forms which may look something like this:

Title the PM: "Back up!" Send the PM to your corresponding Captain and/or Madame Hooch!
Username:
Devotion: (How often are you online?)
Why do you want this position?:
Why do you think you deserve this position?:
Will you accept any position given to you?:
Would you be willing to attend games, even if there's a possibility you would not get to participate?:
Broom: (What type of broom do you have?)

Devotion is a VERY important field which I assume will be put on all try-out forms, (if forms are used.) You will be required to be online at certain times; for practices and games most importantly! Though this isn't a "real life" sport, it requires just as much devotion to play it!

Then, of course, Madame Hooch knows you all have lives! This has been, thus far, made as flexible as possible! Please don't think Madame Hooch doesn't know you have real lives! Please visit MADAME HOOCHS OFFICE if you have any ideas on how game flexibility can be improved.

ANYONE and EVERYONE can try-out for ANY Quidditch position they are interested in!
It doesn't matter what year you are, ANYONE (in the Guild) is welcome to try out for what they want as long as they will actively participate!
(I will say, however, that it helps to have some literacy. . . . This is something Madame Hooch would like to highly encourage!)

Still with me? Good! Then you're doing well!

GAMEPLAY:

Since we are in cyber world, physical game play must be portrayed through posting. This will be done through a series of TRIVIA and PERSONAL POINTS (PP!) This will be difficult to explain, so read carefully. I will first explain the "Trivia" approach.

TRIVIA: In order for a player to "make a move," they must present a multiple choice, or true and false, trivia question to whom they would like to make the move towards. Included with the trivia question, are the outcomes of either a correct, or an incorrect answer and it's affect on the player. The questions may only be related to the Harry Potter books and movies, JK Rowling, or the Haven Guild. “Off-subject” material will be penalized. Here is an example series of move posts preformed:

NOTE: These are NOT official move posts; just basic examples containing the general information required. The official posts which will be used are found by clicking on the attack names farther down on this page!

Chaser1 would like to steal the Quaffle away from Chaser2. (Chaser2 won the Quaffle from answering the previous quaffle holder's trivia question correctly.)

Chaser1 Posts:

Directed Towards: Chaser 2
Attack: Steal the Quaffle
Difficulty: 1
My pp.: 300

What is the name of Filch's cat?

A. Moony
B. Rumpelstiltskin
C. Mrs. Norris
D. Cow

Answer Correctly: You keep the quaffle
Answer Incorrectly: I steal the quaffle. -5 pp.
Hints: (Optional)

User Image

Chaser2 Posts:

Directed Towards: Chaser1
My pp.: 300

(Insert answer here. Example: D. Cow.)

User Image

Chaser1 Posts:

Directed Towards: Chaser2
My pp.: 300

INCORRECT and/or CORRECT! (Depending on the answer.)
(Insert the correct answer here, if Chaser2 was incorrect.)

Consequence: (Insert: "You keep the quaffle," or "I steal the quaffle. -5 pp." here; depending on the answer given by Chaser2. If answered incorrectly, the image of the quaffle is put in this post!)

The consequences are clearly placed at the bottom of Chaser1's first and last post. If Chaser2 answers correctly, he/she would keep the quaffle. If Chaser2 answers incorrectly, the quaffle is taken by Chaser1, and Chaser2 loses 5 pp. (Personal Point(s).) Personal Points will be explained later.

Now, what "attacks" you can perform, like in Chaser1's first post, depend on your position on the team.
Chasers, Keepers, and Beaters have different actions which they can do to other players. (Seekers are a completely different matter, and will be explained later!) This makes it fair, so no one goes about posting: "You get this question wrong, so you're instantly eliminated!" No! No! NO! We've got to keep a system here, people!

With each question comes a difficulty level. In the example above, the difficulty was 1 because it was a VERY easy question. The difficulty is determined by whoever posts the question and ranges from 1-5. (1 being the easiest, 5 being the hardest.) How many Personal Points are deducted is determined by the difficulty level. Notice, Chaser2 would lose 5 pp. (Personal Point(s)) if the question was answered incorrectly, corresponding to the difficulty of 1.

Here is a small chart which will make determining the amount of pp. lost according to difficulty level easier to calculate and understand:

User Image

You lose MORE points for answering an EASIER question incorrectly; and LESS points for a HARDER question. Simple to understand? Excellent!

Before we move on to Personal Points, here are the positions, and their available attacks. ALL TEAM MEMBERS, PLEASE READ ALL OF THE ATTACKS! These attacks are all about interaction! They don’t just involve the player performing them!

Click on the attack names for how the corresponding attack post must be laid out! Creating your own actions is uncalled for, and will result in your team's immediate forfeit of the game! DON'T DO IT!:

MOST/ALL PLAYERS:

-Dodge/Take a Bludger-
To successfully dodge a bludger, you must answer an opposing Beater's "Smack With a Bludger" question correctly. Otherwise, you TAKE a Bludger.

-Present a Question-
This is a question which is required to successfully perform the “Hit an Opposing Chaser” attack, and will be in Madame Hooch’s first post!

-Answering-
This is the layout used to answer any question presented to you, except the "Smack With a Bludger," and "Goal" questions!

-Correct Answer-
This is the layout used to give the correct answer to the player you questioned. This is accompanied by the player’s consequences.

KEEPER:

-Catch/Miss the Quaffle-
To successfully catch the quaffle, the Keeper must answer an opposing Chaser's "Goal" question correctly. The "Present a Question" or the "Hit an Opposing Player" move must be preformed immediately afterward! Otherwise, you Miss the Quaffle.

-Hit an Opposing Chaser-
To hit an opposing Chaser with the quaffle, the Keeper must have successfully preformed the "Catch the Quaffle" move! If the opposing Chaser answers correctly, the Keeper loses the stated amount of pp. in his/her own question, and the Chaser catches the quaffle! If the opposing Chaser answers incorrectly, that Chaser loses the amount of pp. The opposing Chaser must “Present a Question” immediately afterward if he/she answered incorrectly. Whichever member of the Keeper's team correctly answers the opposing Chaser's new question first, gets the quaffle! If none answer correctly, the quaffle is kept by the opposing Chaser that was hit! This cannot be done to Beaters or Seekers!

CHASER:

-Steal the Quaffle-
This move is successfully preformed when an opposing Chaser answers this question incorrectly. This cannot be done to Keepers, Beaters or Seekers!

-Broom Hit-
This move is preformed when an opposing Chaser answers your attack question incorrectly. This causes you to deduct some points from an opposing Chaser! If the opposing Chaser answers correctly, then the Chaser loses the amount of pp. stated in his/her own question; not the opposing Chaser! This can be done to Beaters, Keepers and Seekers!

-Pass the Quaffle to a Team Mate-
To pass a question/(the quaffle) to a team mate, the Chaser who has been asked the attack question says "PASS (Insert attacker's name)'S QUESTION TO: (Insert fellow Chaser's name here!)" This can only be done 3 TIMES per Chaser per game, and only ONE pass may happen per question! (Meaning: If a Chaser1 passes the question to Chaser2, Chaser2 can't pass to anyone else!)

-Goal-
To make a goal, an opposing Keeper must answer your presented "Goal" question incorrectly. The "Goal" question can only be asked when the Chaser has answered 3 other questions correctly!

BEATER:

-Smack With a Bludger-
To smack an opposing Chaser with a bludger, the opposing Chaser must answer your attack question incorrectly. Otherwise, the bludger will be dodged. This can be done to Chasers, Seekers, Keepers and Beaters!

-Club Whack-
To whack a club against an opposing player's skull, the opposing player must answer your attack question incorrectly. This can be done to Chasers, Seekers, Keepers and Beaters!

-Whack Back-
To whack an opposing Beater back, the opposing Beater must answer your attack question incorrectly. This can only be done if you've been "Club Whacked" by an opposing Beater. You only get one chance to "Whack Back" in between "Club Whacks." (Meaning: If Beater1 Club Whacks Beater2, then Beater2 can attempt to Whack Back ONCE until he is Club Whacked again!) This can only be done between Beaters!

-Broom Knock Off-
To knock an opposing player off their broom with a bludger, the opposing player must answer your attack question incorrectly. This does not cause the loss of pp., but disallows the hit player to post/present questions for 1-5 minutes depending on the difficulty! (If the difficulty were one, the player would be out for 5 minutes. Difficulty 2: 4 minutes, ect.) This can be done to Beaters and Chasers!

PERSONAL POINTS (pp.) As you may have noticed, pp. play a vital role in the game's success. To begin, every person has 200 pp. (As shown in the example post above.) These points are deducted whenever you fail to answer an opposing player's attack question incorrectly! How many points you lose is based on the level of difficulty which I explained before. This should hopefully make sense by now. Should you lose all your pp., you are "outed" from the game. There have to be at least four of your team mates on the pitch, a BU player must be produced, a halt must be called, or the snitch must be caught; or your team automatically forfeits! You must state how much pp. you’ve got in EVERY post you make during a Quidditch game!

THE GAME'S BEGINNING: Madame Hooch is ALWAYS the first person to post. She will give the players a few, brief instructions etc. before the game starts, then say, "ROLE CALL!" ALL players on the Pitch, and ALL BU's must make ONE post each that says "HERE," and states THE PLAYER'S TEAM and POSITION! This will insure that both teams have their players ready and accounted for; and give the players a list of BU's available.

The Captains/Co-Captains of each team will then ensure they have enough players to commence the game. If/When they do, the Captains/Co-Captians will each post "READY," signaling Madame Hooch to start the game.

Without further adieu, Madame Hooch will then “Present a Question” of her own and toss up the quaffle! The first team member to answer it correctly gets possession of the quaffle, and the game begins!

CARRYING THE QUAFFLE: How in the world do you make it to the goals with all this trivia in the way? Well, it's simple. Say you're a Chaser, and you have the quaffle. To reach the Keeper's question(s), you have to correctly answer 3 questions given to you by the opposing team! These will come from opposing Beaters and Chasers. Once you've answered 3, you can ask a "Goal" question to the Keeper.

*An image of the quaffle will be shown at the beginning of the game. If you have possession of the quaffle, this image must appear in all of your post(s) until possession is lost. The Chaser who stole it must follow suit. This will maintain confusion!

REAL-LIFE REQUIREMENTS: In recent discussion, we've come across the problem of what people may use to answer the questions they are presented with during game play. These are only ones we will currently allow:

1.) Your basic understanding/knowledge of the Harry Potter series, JK Rowling, or the Haven.

2.) The Harry Potter books. (Meaning you can have them near your computer whilst you play.)

3.) The internet: You may use the internet to inspire/create questions. Using Google.com, "Googling," to find answers is something we cannot stop any of you from doing, but we somewhat discourage. We understand that some questions may be incredibly hard to find, or the answers may ONLY be on the internet. Please use your best judgment and be fair. We want questions and answers, for the most part, to come from your basic knowledge!

TIME OUTS: These can be called at any time by a Team Captain. Read the BASIC RULES/REGULATIONS for more direct instructions. When your Team Captain calls a time out, you can use Personal Messaging, (PM) or GIM, to discuss game play for up to 6 hours (This is because we will all be online at different times). This halts game play during that time. Madame Hooch will say "ROLE CALL" again when time out is finished, insuring all players have returned. Time outs CANNOT be called when a Chaser on either team has reached the Keeper's question(s).

SCORING: There are three hoops, guarded by the Keeper, which you can shoot the quaffle through. No matter which hoop you get the quaffle through, your team will be awarded 10 points. The game proceeds until the snitch is caught by a team's Seeker! Whichever team's Seeker catches the snitch, instantly wins, and/or ends, the game!

Now, before you get all defensive saying things like: "OMG! What's the point of the game if it's just a race between Seekers!?" Let me explain:

It's really a collaborative score. There are six games played a year so that each house gets to play against each other. At the end of the year, the total points collected for each house are totaled, and the Quidditch Cup is awarded to the team with the most points! The six games will be posted later!

GAME DURATION: How long a game will last is an unspecific subject, considering it ends whenever the snitch is caught, but this is what we'll do: The game will start when there is at least one player of each position there. The game will last until one team's seeker has found all the pieces of the snitch and answered the question correctly for each one. There is no set duration.

LEAVING: If you need to leave during the game and you are the only one there from your position, you MUST inform the other players you are doing so and try to have someone to replace you if you can't get on the internet within the next 24 hours (a BU, preferably). Remember that there MUST be at least 4 players on the field that have checked in that day or the game will be forfeited. (You'll only forfeit should four people not be availible because they leave without letting their Captain know). Captains may apply rules/penalties against such actions however they would like.

TEAM INDICATION: In order to cut down on confusion, the players are required to do one or more of the following:

COLOR CODING
Color-coding your text according to your House Team, is probably the most beneficial thing you can do to cut the confusion. These are the colors I recommend:

Gryffindor: Dark Red
Ravenclaw: Blue
Hufflepuff: Orange
Slytherin: Green

Whichever color you decide, make sure it is readable (meaning: NO LIGHT COLORS! Keep it dark!)

GRAPHICS
A House-related picture of some sort, or a massive, glittery word
"Gryffindor," "Slytherin," "Ravenclaw" or "Hufflepuff" put somewhere in your post or signature would be sufficient. Use anything! Just ensure it will let us know which team you're on!

UNIFORMS
We attempted to create official uniforms for your avatars, but expenses and what-not made doing this an unlikely venture. Instead, you may create a tektek "Quidditch Player" of your very own, and place him/her in your posts! NOTE: This may NOT be enough to let us know which team you're on, so please use another one of the options with it.

*Another suggestion is to have your avatar wear some Syaorans Goggles during games to let us know you play Quidditch.

BOMBARDMENT: "OMG! Help! I've got 50 people throwing trivia questions at me!" This is sure to happen at least once or twice during the game. If you get two or more questions thrown at you, ONLY RESPOND TO THE FIRST ONE! Other players who posted afterward are asked to please delete their questions to cut down on clutter.

ASTERISKS: Since we all know and love asterisks SO well, their use during Quidditch games is DEFINITELY allowed, along with a bit of role-playing fun and what-not! BUT, should you do an action which is against the BASIC RULES/REGULATIONS then you will be penalized accordingly! No matter WHAT position you have! Even AUDIENCE MEMBERS! Beware: Madame Hooch is WATCHING you! eek

Oh boy! You made it through this post! You're doing better than I expected! Come along now! There's more to see!

SEEKERS:

Since, again, we are restricted by cyber world, finding the snitch is something a BIT complex!

The snitch is divided into four segments/images. These images will be hidden my Madame Hooch prior to the game inside the guild or on any guild members profile. It is up to the Seeker to find all four segments, bring them back to the Pitch, and describe in detail where they were found.

Now, in order for the Seekers to be subject to attacks from other players, they are required to make regular posts in the current game's thread. To ensure this, Madame Hooch will call out "SEEKER STATUS" at random times during the game. If a Seeker fails to post within a day after the "Seeker Status" call, that Seeker's team must forfeit the game.

When Madame Hooch calls "SEEKER STATUS," there's some specific information the Seeker must provide in his/her post:

1.) Where they have previously searched, and where they are going to search next. This causes both Seekers to share valuable information as to where the snitch ISN'T!

2.) How many pieces of the snitch they've found; if any. DO NOT REVEAL WHERE the piece(s) were found! That would weigh heavily against you!

The Seeker's "Seeker Status" post is open to attack/interaction!

WHERE DO I FIND THE SNITCH?

Segments of the snitch could be in the Guild itself or on a person's profile! Where the snitch is hidden will be accompanied by a trivia question you have to answer! And, if you're lucky, it may come with a bonus clue to the next piece's location! This is not set by any specific rules, and it has no limits! This all depends on the creativity of Madame Hooch!

OKAY THEN, HOW DO I FIND THE SNITCH?

Whenever Madame Hooch calls "SEEKER STATUS," she will provide a variety of hints/clues regarding the snitch's location after 1 or both Seekers have posted in response! This will give you, the Seeker, incentive to check back to the Pitch often, AND post your status!

WHOO! I'VE GOT ALL 4 PEICES OF THE SNITCH! . . . Now what?

As soon as you've collected all 4 pieces of the snitch, you must post at the Pitch to redeem your points and end the game! The post must include:

1.) All 4 segments/images of the snitch.

2.) Detailed description(s) of where EACH of the 4, snitch segments/images were found and what the the trivia questions answers are.

3.) You have to say: "I'VE CAUGHT THE SNITCH," somewhere in your post!

As soon as all of this information has been given, your teams wins, and/or the game is over!

We've made this as fool-proof as possible! If you've got any further insight as how we can eliminate possibilities of cheating, then let us know HERE!

PRACTICES:

Practices are times called by Team Captains in which you gather the toughest questions you can find to fight the other team with! It's up to the Team Captains how they want to organize these exactly, or even if they want to do them at all. Just hope you've got a team full of brainiacs if that's the case!

HAVE REGULAR REVIEWS OF THE RULES! Quiz and drill your team mates, and each other, regularly on the rules/regulations of the game! The better you know these, the better you can use them to your advantage! Quizyourfriends.com is an easy way to create online quizzes, if it helps!

Another option would be playing some of the "Ancient Games" mentioned in the BASIC RULES/REGULATIONS. How you'd play them is up to you, but I'm sure you can be creative! 3nodding

CHALLENGE YOURSELVES! Think: What will make me a better online Quidditch player? Become a Harry Potter guru! Memorize the names of everyone in the books! Do whatever it takes!

THE GAMES/DATES:

Again, it is Madame Hooch's responsibility to assign a date for the big game every month! Madame Hooch will post a game week and start time and the game will commence then unless there will be NO ONE there!

SCHEDULING will be figured between Madame Hooch and the Team Captains. It is the Team Captains' responsibility to present Madame Hooch with a series of days during the month that their team would have the highest amount of players available.

*It's not VITAL that the dates given are only ones when ALL team members are present. Remember: The least amount of players you can have on the pitch is 4!

EXTRA CHARACTERS:
-Here's some other positions we would LOVE to have!-

An Announcer: This person keeps tabs on the game, yelling out the latest actions preformed like players hit, and points scored! This person is not absolutely vital at the games, but it would be VERY helpful to know what's going on for the players AND the audience!
Position currently held by: Empress_Cat

Score Keeper: This person is responsible for keeping a detailed record of ALL THE TEAM'S, and TEAM MEMBER’S, scores for every game throughout the ENTIRE year/season! This person must be honest and reliable! Madame Hooch will assist this person whenever necessary.
Position currently held by: turayza

*Editor: This person is in charge of the Quidditch Newspaper: "The Broomstick Bugle." This person is responsible for the reporters and giving them jobs/tasks to do; such as interviewing Team Members, getting game statistics, writing articles, etc. This person may, if he/she chooses, write articles as well; but is under no obligation to. The main jobs of this person are to organize the paper, check for spelling/grammatical errors, maintain the staff, and so on.

*Assistant Editor(s): This/these person(s) serve as aid to the Editor in any way the Editor requires. They have a bit more authority, but report to the Editor.

*Reporters: Reporters are responsible for informing the public about all things "Quidditch!" They will be asked to research, interview, and write articles. Their articles will be posted HERE after they’ve been looked over through PM by the Editor for approval.

*Delivery Boy(s)/Girl(s): These persons deliver newsletters, through PM, to those who subscribe.

*Photographer(s): It's the responsibility of these persons to collect images that the Editor can put into the paper. (This is not at all necessary, or a necessary position, but will definitely add some spice should it be so).

*The newspaper will not be put together until the Quidditch teams are organized!

Audience Members: Whoo! These are the coolest people of all! As much as we'd LOVE to have you on the Pitch, it's great to have moral support for those on broomsticks! These people are welcome to root for their favorite team/team member(s). No hassle, no fuss, just pure entertainment! Whoopie! 4laugh There IS, however, member edicate Madame Hooch would like to make quite plain:

1.) Do not post in excess! It will be very crowded/confusing enough! Keep your chat limited PLEASE!

2.) Don't be Noobish . . . stare That's all I can say. PLEASE don't be like: "*Flyz on 2 pitch* DIE, Billy! *Killz Billy w/Avada Kedavra!*" That's just as bad as spamming, and bloody annoying!

3.) Don't diss on another team/team(s) member(s)! You can do this to an extent (I mean, we all flip out at games once in awhile,) just don't be horribly rude or profane! Show some respect, and please be courteous!

The idea of having seperate team locker rooms is very important! It would be conduct that no one from any of the other teams can go in there, so-can they be locked to other team members somehow? I know some places are locked in this guild, all except for 6th years and stuff like that, that is a thought. A common room for each of the houses where we can meet and discuss the latest dates and such.

I also think that YOU should BE the Madame Hooch who starts them all up, and takes the donations to start this whole thing...but then again if you really want to be a PART of the Quidditch team, then would that still be possible?

I like how you've thought all of this out so that there is practically no place that isn't explained or perfected! ^-^ The trivia thing is way cool, the one thing that I think needs some more work is the Seeker part...the problem is-I have no idea how it should be done either. It's kind of a race to the two seekers, and they do have to SEEK but I don't know how you'd do it. The thing about hiding the snitch is an excellent idea-but you are right that someone might "rat" it out. Meh! If I were the seeker, I would have where at a certain time the snitch is POSTED in the actual forum and the first person to write up the most creative way of getting the snitch would win! (this is more of a literature thing, and I am joking, and am not at all serious about putting it in here, lol-don't think I'm a complete nerd, please) You KNOW it is funny! I think the seekers should have to be observant and FIND the snitch...somehow. Or!...okay-here's a thought (and I REALLY mean this one!)

***Madame hooch could give out clues about different sites or guilds on gaia or what not. I don't know how this would be done-but let's use a VERY simple example. Let's say that she says a MEETING house where one celebrates bands. Then you could gain from that that MAYBE it is a guild taht talks about bands all the time. (of course madame hooch would have talked with the guild officials and would have gotten permission to hide it there) THis way the Seeker would have to FIND the snitch, put the clues together (I only gave one on saving of time...) and copy it, and bring it to the forum, and post EXACTLY where they found it to prove that they weren't cheating in finding it on photobucket or something. I think that that would be a fun idea-but then again, it's only a thought, and I know it isn't perfect-or exactly like everthing else...but I think it would be kind of fun. You'd have to use quick thinking skill and hurry to that place to find the snitch whether it is on their home page, or in some random post-the clues could lead them there. That's my only suggestion I guess.

I really DO think you should be the madame hooch character, after all you DID think it up, and you would know how best to do it. I hope everyone else likes this idea. It is fresh, new and I really think it would be so much fun. I vote that if we get enough people that I would gladly help in donations to make this subforum.

Also, to keep the counting even so that you know how many people from different houses you have got, then count me in!

+ 1 RAVENCLAW!
((but I WOULDN'T be in one of the teams, I want to be the announcer!!! ^-^ like Luna!!! but I think that we should start making a list of who from different houses wants to be a part of this "shabang" so there's my vote!))

OMG! Empress_Cat, you have made an EXCELLENT suggestion for the Seekers! I'm going to add it to the suggestions! I don't REALLY like to Professors/Original's Bartering bit too much either, but I'll keep it up for people to consider.

Me? Madame Hooch? . . . Really? Well, I guess that would only be reasonable. If no one else disagrees, and if it's alright with the Guild moderators, I'd be happy to accept her role!

If it's ALSO ok, I'm going to have Oliver pop up now and then to help out Madame Hooch give announcements! If you haven't seen Oliver Wood, he's payed a couple visits to the Yule Ball!

Ooo! As for Empress_Cat's request to become the announcer, I'll keep that on tabs! That, too, would be fine with me!

That would be very fun. But there's also the problem of availability--the people on the team would probably switch around for the different games throughout the year. Finding the snitch would be very complicated though. You can't search for content--if it's in this guild, it would be a bit too easy while if it were placed in another guild, the search might take a long time. Also, the snitch couldn't be placed in a private guild...I don't know, maybe the snitch could be hidden in our guild, and moved once a day by someone who isn't playing in the game. (But placed somewhere starting on, say, halfway through the month?) If we get this to work, I'd love to keep the score. Though if we didn't have enough people on the team (I'm a Ravenclaw) I'd be willing to be a beater...
Oh yes, for the chasers, how would we measure advancement accross the field? Possibly by the moves (of the other players, passing the ball/trying to steal the quaffle)? How big should our online field be?
Also, unless there is a lot of activity and the players can actually go to gaia every day, the Quidditch matches might last...a very long time.
