03.20.06 Well... I am behind, but slowly catching up! I thought of an idea for a small journal series to keep my creative wheels flowing... I am so glad I am taking a music-as-part-of-culture course! 02.04.06 I understand I am running behind on entries. I am going to school in Greece for the next 4 months, so I will be trying to catch up on them.  Name: Arrakis Nickname: Arra Means: "The Dancer" (Arabic) Gender: Female Stage: Child Species: Dragon Personality: "A dragon is a beautiful thing to behold, and Arrakis is no exception. She loves everything bright and shiny and has a tendency of hoarding anything she deems hers." Other: There are a few important things that you may want to know about dear Arra. First of all, she loves to sing and dance. So don't be surprised if she just starts singing in mid-sentence. Secondly, Arrakis can sense other Mysterians. More so, she can sense their "Life Song" and she can hear it. For the most part, it is very unconscious. Mysterians that she has not met before and is very close to are the ones whose Songs she hears the loudest. Once she has met them, however, it retreats to the back of her mind. Last of all, because of Arrakis's affiliation with music, if she tries hard enough, and sings the right Songs and dances the right Dance, this little dragon can create "ghost images" of other Mysterians to replay an event. She can only show the Truth though, what really happened. ~*~*~*~*~  Pet: Gianfar Species: ??? Grand Meeting For the first time, Arra met Malice, Malise, Harmony, and Keira Harpy Hunt Arra met Hateya, and together, they discovered the Harpy Heritage Saving Sian A Shop Thread Halloween event. Descriptions of Arrakis's powers mostly started there....! Not-so-secret Secret Santa After getting her own from Hateya, Arrakis sent one to the Harpy...with not as successful results Sian and Jan Wedding Sian and Jan's wedding... what's to say? Although Arrakis met Naida... officially Random Chance On a cold afternoon, Arrakis met the Mysterians Ash and Kohaku, as well as the Guardian Pika. Apsu, the father of the primordial Deep, and the dragon Tiamat (also known as Mother Chuber, the the creator of all), the spirit of Chaos, begetted the gods together: they created the god Lachmu and his female counterpart Lachamu, and more gods were created until there were eight in total (Mackenzie, year unknown). As time went on these gods began to upset Apsu and Tiamat because they planned to control the universe and put it in order. This was contradictory to Apsu and Tiamat who lived to create evil amongst eternal confusion. Apsu finally called upon his evil counsellor Mummu, and together they went to speak with Tiamat- but their conversation was overheard by Ea, who placed an incantation over Apsu and Mummu and the pair were taken captive. Kingu, who was bright and evil, went to the dragon and told her that Apsu and Mummu had been taken. This enraged Tiamat who responded, "on my strength thou canst trust. So let war be waged." Tiamat raised an army for herself including eleven kinds of monsters, all armed with the terrible weapons and without a fear of battle, to fight on her side. These monsters included giant serpents with sharp teeth, whose bodies were filled not with blood but poison; snarling dragons, armed with terror, and of such a size and presence that anyone who saw them was overcome with fear. Vipers and pythons, hurricane monsters called the Lachamu, hounds, scorpion men, tempest furies, fish men and mountain rams made up Tiamat's army. When the god Ea heard of all this, he went to Anshar for help who told him to go beg for mercy from Tiamat, however when he saw the fuming dragon he turned and ran in fear- many other gods tried to do the same but were all gripped with the same terror. Finally Anshar chose Merodach to defeat Tiamat, and Merodach was exalted as the highest of the gods. Taking seven winds and terrible weapons of his own, he beheld Tiamat who said to him, "o Merodach, I fear not thy advance as a chief of the gods. My allies are assembled here, and are more powerful than thou art." Merodach replied, "thou hast exalted thyself, and with wrathful heart hath prepared for war against the high gods and their fathers, whom thou dost hate in thy heart of evil. Unto Kingu thou hast given the power of Anu to decree fate, because thou art hostile to what is good and loveth what is sinful. Gather thy forces together, and arm thyself and come forth to battle." And so Tiamat and Merodach went to war, and Merodach ensnared the dragon in a net from which she could not escape. When Tiamat opened her mouth, which was seven miles wide, Merodach used his seven winds to keep her mouth agape and filled her with all the tempests and hurricanes until her heart began to subside; then the high god plunged a dart into her chest, severing her heart and slaying the dragon. Once this was done and the other evil gods captured, Merodach opened the channels of her blood which streamed forth, taking her blood to secret places (Mackenzie, year unknown). After this, he used Tiamat's body to create the the earth, the heavens and the stars, moon and sun, as well as the living creatures on earth. ~*~*~*~*~

 On 08.19.05 ELF Elf had just gotten home from work when she saw the note posted on her door. The woman glared at it at first, thinking it was a soliciter's note or a Repot notice. She was ecstatic when she read it and ran to the announced location: "Mysterian flatsale at 96032 40th Av, four doors down from the original shop
p.s. Sian is sexy!"On the way, she hummed to herself and laughed when she read the note again, "I'm sure Sian wrote this...and probably had Nadia deliver it, poor thing!" She arrived, and just in the nick of time. She entered the temporary shop, set up like a coffee shop. Elf made a strange face as she waited in line, the smell of coffee messing up with her concentration. When it was finally her turn, Elf sat at the table and looked expectantly at Sian. Sian smiled and asked the first question, "If you could have any Mysterian what kind would you have and why?" Elf stared at her hands on the table, contemplating the question, " Well... any Mysterian would be a dream. If I could chose any, however, I would choose either a dragon or a quetzal. The dragon is because I am a dragon-freak and I can imagine the loveliness of such a Mysterian as such. Dragons are such care-free creatures. They love to fly and stay a little secluded from others but are so wise and knowing. Dragons are said to be the first creatures and protectors of the world. My other choice would be a quetzal. While quetzals are not pure mythology, they do exist, they are incredibly rare and shy. However, they play a major part in Aztec and old central American legends. They are amazingly gorgeous birds and have much the same myths about them as dragons. Not only that, but they are brightly colored like other types of birds-of-paradise." Elf smiled for a minute then added, "And they both have tails and wings I can play with!"Sian nodded occasionally, taking notes. When she finished she looked up again and asked another question, "If you could dress your Mysterian how would you dress it?" At that question, Elf chuckled, "A rubber chicken suit!" At Sian's look of inquiry, the woman shook her head, "No, I'm just kidding." Again, she paused in thought and then started on with her next answer. "I guess it would depend on the Mysterian... I definately would want the clothes to compliment the dear and not overpower anything. The colors would definately have to match, if that is the purpose the Mysterian's look. Honestly, though, I wouldn't want to dress my theoretical Mysterian in anything that is didn't want. I would let it decide...."Sian frowned a bit, "What kind of answer is that!?" Elf shrugged seriously but waited for more. "Oh, you can go now... stick around!" Elf stood up and bowed to Sian with a smile, "Thank You! And good luck!" She walked back to the waiting area to "mingle". ~*~*~*~*~

 Arrakis's journal!!! (From ELF)  A gift for Arrakis from ELF on her 1 month birthday. Was given to her during the party... or more so, she found it.  WTF! It's a PURPLE rubber chicken from ELF, commissioned by youlootamax. Another plushie, and although Arrakis loves it, it usually stays in her room. ~*~*~*~*~
Arrakis's Hoard  A backpack that is was used as an egg carrier, so Arrakis never left Elf's side! Now, it is just a backpack for Arrakis's hoard.  A fairly large pebble of Mawsitsit that enlodged into Arrakis's egg when she went to the Renaissance Festival  A lock of Daemon's, Arrakis's Akh ("Brother"), hair bound with a purple band  A small piece of glass. Elf actually found it when she was walking home with Arrakis's new journal. The dragon ripped the bag open, though, and had to hunt it down.   Two charms that Arrakis found in the "Saving Sian" plotline. The Hamza Hand she found on her way to the Shop from Elf's house. The Lotus was found in Mysteria, and stolen for a short period of time by an evil Mysterian (One Arra killed to get the next item)  A "ball-sized" pumpkin Arrakis got from killing an evil Mysterian in the "Saving Sian" plotline. It's kinda kute! ~*~*~*~*~

 Daemon ~ (Centaur) Like a big brother to Arrakis, he's always looking out for her. Arrakis calls him "Akh", which is Arabic for "brother".  Ceres ~ (Gorgon) Arrakis has only met her for a short period, so they haven't really talked much yet.  Malice ~ (Demon) The first demon Arrakis met, she thought he was just another dragon and wanted to add him to her hoard. I think she freaked him out a little.  Harmony ~ (Simurgh) When Arrakis met Harmony, she liked the Mysterian, even though she was a bit shy. Harmony's heritage -simurgh- truly amazes Arrakis.  Malise ~ (Demon) When Arrakis first met Malise, the demon was telling Sian that she had set a cat on fire, which intrigued the dragon. Right away, Arrakis enjoyed talking to the demon.  Keira ~ (Dragon) Not Arrakis's sister, but definately a good friend. They both share a dragon's thirst for knowledge and get along quite easily.  Hateya ~ (Harpy) Arrakis feels a strong connection to Hateya. It may be as strong as her connection for Daemon, although it's roots lie somewhere else, for Arra had never known Hateya as an egg and was actually quite shocked when she met the young Harpy. Note: all images are from the child stage, regardless if the Mysterian is a child or not
