Okay. For my lovely gen. ed. req. cultural anthropology class I have to write up an ethnography of a microculture.

THIS MEANS YOU, 111.

So answer these questions, pretty please?

1. How did you discover Gaia?
2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?
3. How long have you been on Gaia?
4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?
5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)
6. What was your initial impression of the 111?
7. What is your current impression of the 111?
8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there)
9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there)
10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111?
11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111?
12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?
13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they?

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):
1. What is your age?
2. Where are you from? (state or country)
3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college)
4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.)
Optional namedropping ahoy!:
5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why?
6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why?

Okay that's all I can think of right now~

I FORGOT TO ADD:

If you don't wanna post your answers here (all, or just the optionals, or whatever), feel free to PM them to me instead.

1. How did you discover Gaia? A friend told me about it.
2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum? I honestly can't remember. I think I had gotten bored of the CB and was just looking through the list of forums and was like, "oh hey a forum for writers, awesome."
3. How long have you been on Gaia? Two years.
4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum? Almost two years.
5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate) Since October 2005, roughly.
6. What was your initial impression of the 111? They were nice. Chatty, odd, but not as scary as I had first thought, being intimidated by the number of pages. I looked up to the people who were already well-situated and tried to please them, gain their favor and such.
7. What is your current impression of the 111? Generally still nice, but I have been disillusioned. The 111 is pretentious, elitist, and whiny as hell, and talk more about sex than about writing.
8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there) Small. A little less snobby, but no less whiny.
9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there) Pricks.
10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111? Someone who has stuck around for a long time.
11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111? A willingness to shut the ******** up and not pick fights. General niceness, a good sense of humor, and at very least a speck of optimism and humility.
12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111? Daily or semi-daily.
13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they? It pays to be nice online. You can't see the other person but feelings can get hurt and get hurt badly. It's hard to tell if people are being sarcastic. Cliques are ******** pretentious.

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):
1. What is your age? 18.
2. Where are you from? (state or country) US.
3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college) (Community) College student.
4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.) Parents.
Optional namedropping ahoy!:
5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why? I don't know if I can find it possible to look up to anyone in the 111 anymore. Except Dybael, who is possibly the best, most awesome, most intelligent, and more mature people I have ever met, online or in person. The fact that she is younger than I am, has Lyme, and is going to an official college does nothing but boost the respect I have for her.
6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why? Prairie Fire and Scarlet Jile are the two I can think of right now. PF is just mean. I realize that she either doesn't realize or doesn't care about how rude she is and how much it can hurt others, but it doesn't make what she can say sting any less and I cannot seem to be able to forgive her for that.
Jile used to be a person I looked up to as intelligent and (ridiculously) badass. But when he showed up again, he was little as I recalled; he seemed to be more rude, less silly, and generally not as 'cool' as I had remembered.

1. How did you discover Gaia?
Back in year 9. A couple of my friends were obsessed with it, we had a lot of time to kill in the lantern room (computer room) at school, illicit Gaia-visiting became a mark of our little freakish subculture. Then I forgot about it and buggered off for a year or so. Then I came back and found the Writer's Forum.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?
Random clicking. For a long time I never really went outside of the Original Poetry/Lyricism subforum. Either I'd just begun to write again or I found the subforum then started to write again... either way, yeah, random clicking as I explored Gaia.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?
Four-ish years, with gaps in between where I wandered off.

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?
A year and a bit? I guess.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)
I didn't know what it was for a long time. Then someone in the Minilurve linked me to it, I ran in, posted something, helped to coin and popularise the term 'poetfag', then ran out again. Probably the first time I posted was about a year ago.

6. What was your initial impression of the 111?
Lots of people who ignore me. Some of them seem nice.

7. What is your current impression of the 111?
See above.

8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there)
Weird. It's like a gentleman's drinking club where you have to be a member to join and no women are allowed except on the third Sunday of every month with an 'r'- except minus the sexism.

9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there)
Minilurve went to more extremes, I always felt. There was more bitchiness than in the 111, but more outpouring of salacious, poetical lurve. Also people would reply when I posted. ;_; Even though I can rationalise away my emotional attachment to the place, I still miss it. Sometimes. Like I still click there automatically. Before the 111. ;_;

10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111?
Someone who posts there a lot, or who used to post there a lot, or who comes in occasionally and makes the kind of posts that make you snort milkshake down your nose. If you drink milkshake.

11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111?
I didn't understand this question for a while. ;_; Values? As in, morals and stuff? Umm. I have no idea.

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?
Eh, before this summer, probably most days I would have posted a few times, and lurked for a few hours. I've been trying to grow some sort of life this summer, though, and that sentence calls to mind growing a social life in a vat. Green fluid and hairy bits.

13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they?
No matter where I go, internet or real life, I will always be an outsider. And I kinda like it that way. xD

Oh, yes, and jerks are the same everywhere.

Also that being bored is a state of mind, and that if you're bored, you should get up off your arse and do something about it.

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):
1. What is your age?
Dancing queen, only seventeen~

2. Where are you from? (state or country)
England!

3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college)
Sixth form student (upper sixth). xD

4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.)
My mother.

Optional namedropping ahoy!:
5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why?
Lied. His poetry. It's good.

Very good.

6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why?
Me!

And people who want to be regs/who are desperate to be liked.

And Americans.

I do apologise. I genuinely tried to answer that seriously. ;_;

1. How did you discover Gaia?
A friend of mine had mentioned it my freshman year at highschool, but I didn't check it out until junior year. I was bedridden with Lyme for a few months, was utterly bored out of my mind, and visiting every website I could think of. I didn't think I'd spend more than a few hours on Gaia ever, but once I joined it really sucked me in.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?
I was trying to find someplace I could have intelligent chatspeak-free discussion. I thought I would find it in the ED, but that kind of failed. So I figured the writers would know at least know how to type. That kind of failed too, but by that time I had found the 111 and had no intention of ever leaving.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?
Just under two years. It'll be my second Gaiaversary mid-November.

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?
Since about two weeks after I joined. I kind of flitted from forum to forum at the beginning.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)
Again, about two weeks after I joined. The 111 was one of the first things I noticed in the WF. It took me a couple of days to get the nerve to post.

6. What was your initial impression of the 111?
Everyone seemed to know each other really well. There were a lot of bizarre injokes flying around, which kind of intimidated me, but everyone seemed not only relaxed and friendly but also had this kind of casual scathing wit. I thought it was awesome.

7. What is your current impression of the 111?
We're one, big, sometimes-happy-sometimes-dysfunctional-mostly-bizarre family. I still love the place to death, even though individuals can annoy the heck out of me, and Code Black drama regularly makes me run for cover. But nobody's perfect, and I still find that aura of camraderie present most days. I'm pretty sure you can't have the level of trust and friendship that the 111 has without having to deal with the sour moments as well.

8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there)
...

9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there)
...

10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111?
Someone that posts at least quasi-regularly over an extended period of time, and that fits in with the crazy antics. Sometimes new people come in and post a lot, but they don't seem to really mesh with the community (Feyre, I'm looking at you), but there are also people who don't post all that often who nevertheless seem to get the place and fit right in. And then there are some people who have been around for ages who still just don't fit at all (sorry, sokuja).

11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111?
A sense of humor; respect for others; understanding that they might not find you funny sometimes; understanding that you might not find OTHERS funny sometimes but that you shouldn't make a huge deal of it (I used to give Suiso the stare emote all the time because his 4channery did not amuse me, but now I just halfway ignore it and he's actually become more funny when I stopped being so uptight about it).

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?
ALL THE TIME. Or at least, all my free time when I have access to a computer. The 111 is always in the background, even if I'm just lurking.

13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they?
Huh. Not really, but the 111 has served to cement the ideas I already held. People are PEOPLE. Sometimes they're awesome and sometimes they're assholes. You have to tolerate the times when they're pissy if you ever want to see the moments when they're cool to be around. Everyone has bad days.
Everyone has good days, too. And I think it's worth slogging through any amount of crap to see someone when they're genuinely, euphorically happy. Don't hold others to higher standards then you hold yourself, or vice-versa. If you keep a sense of humor and treat everyone with kindness and respect then chances are they won't b***h at you. If they do, then they're determined to make themselves miserable and just aren't worth your time.

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):
1. What is your age?
16

2. Where are you from? (state or country)
Massachusetts. I R TEH MASSHOLE

3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college)
Just heading into college. I skipped kindergarden when I was little, and then was homeschooled for a year for 7th/8th grades.

4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.)
The parental units. I would die if I was presented with my own internet bill! I'm on here all the time.

Optional namedropping ahoy!:
5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why?
Pretty much everyone. I do my best to see the good in everyone. I envy the art skills of the people who draw, and the non-procrastinatorly ways of the people who actually write. Whenever I'm in the mood for anime, someone in the 111 always gives a great suggestion. When I'm feeling crappy, someone is there to cheer me up (and when I feel guilty about being whiny there's always someone assuring me that I'm not bogging everyone down). Everyone in the 111 has at some point said something amazingly witty to make me laugh out loud.

6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why?
I try not to look down on anyone. Some people can really, really annoy me, though. Prairie and Prisma and Moth can all be very caustic with little or no provocation. When Suiso and Tailos and Galv team up for 4channery and pervy antics I get frustrated and x out the window. Jabber is an extremely lazy procrastinator and Mobby lashes out when people anger him and Verne gets huffy when people aren't talking about stuff she finds interesting and so on and so forth and none of it matters because I've been just as crabby or insensitive or lazy or self-serving at one time or another. It wouldn't be fair to get upset at them without berating myself as well. I know I'd like to be given some slack, so I give them a break too.

The only people I really, REALLY can't stand are the ones that make no effort to try and join the rest of the 111, who don't bother with proper spelling and grammar and/or are constantly, consistantly abrasive from the moment they enter the 111. I see Ikaru-Kakou and Sokuja San as members of the former, and Feyre as the latter. I try my best not to be judgemental, but they just piss me off. (I think Feyre broke some sort of internal rage-o-meter... he's been here all of two, three days and already I have him mentally categorized as Unredeemable.)

1. How did you discover Gaia?
My friend and I used to look at the art in the art arena. I think she found out about it from her brother.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?
I wanted to start posting and I was interested in writing, so naturally it was one of the few forums that interested me.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?
A little over four years. D:

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?
Probaby around three years, I took a break for a while because I forgot about it and besides I was an annoying little kid so nobody wanted me around. Bahah I'm kidding sort of.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)
I lurked for a really long time before I started posting regularly, because I mostly hung out in the RR. So I like, remember all the first regs, but didn't actually know them very well. I know I've been lurking at least since the big ban, so that's around page 2300ish.
6. What was your initial impression of the 111?
Well I was like 12, so I was like WHOA THESE PEOPLE ARE SMART!

7. What is your current impression of the 111?
I think people are kind of dramatic, complain a lot, and beg for attention. I think people there take things way to seriously and don't consider the source if they get offended. We forget it's the INTERNET. And that everyone is as interested in themselves as you want them to be in you. If that makes sense.

8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there)
I thought they seem kind of empty and I don't know very many people.

9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there)
The word that comes to mind is snark, but I always sort of thought they were funny. They never offended me in anyway and poetry is definitely not my cup of tea.

10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111?
Someone who posts regularly? I don't know this is where people get pretentious, but I think you have to have been there for a while and have at least a few other regs' respect. Because there are definitely cases where length does NOT play a role in the acceptance from other regs.

11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111?
I don't really know how to answer this question. I think I remember this is the internet and that people seem to crave attention here. I try not to pick fights, but I also am not afraid to speak up when I think something's stupid. I just like to please everyone, mostly, though.

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?
More than I should, a few hours a day, anyway.

13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they?
Really that people complain a lot and that they don't really feel the need to pay attention to anyone but themselves, but really the more you pay attention to other people, the more they pay attention to you, if that makes sense.

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):
1. What is your age?
16

2. Where are you from? (state or country)
Washington

3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college)
Yay junior in hs.

4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.) Parents

Optional namedropping ahoy!: What?

5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why?
I look up to Oggie's amazing story writing! And a few other 111ers' originality and fun personalities. i.e. Jabber. Baha.

6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why
I'm not going to name names because I think that's immature and just drama provoking, but there's definitely a few people who consistently complain and only talk about things they want to talk about and don't generally contribute anything interesting. They kind of bore me and annoy me, but yeah. It's okay because I complain too, everyone does, I just wish sometimes they weren't so...whiny? Yeah. I guess.
Also, people who are offended too easily.

1. How did you discover Gaia? -- A guy I was interested in mentioned it to me and suggested I join up, a couple other mutual friends also had it and when they heard I was thinking about signing up they recommended it.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum? -- I discovered the WF via the Books subforum, which is where I used to hang out and stuff for most of my early gaian days. Discussing some of the books that are so popular with the fandoms and making list upon list of books that I needed to read still.

3. How long have you been on Gaia? -- Since January '06 ... I think.

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum? -- Since June '06 ... again, I think.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate) -- Was page 20K-ish. I started posting in the 111 in June '06, didn't post regular like until October or November.

6. What was your initial impression of the 111? --SNARKY BUT INTELLIGENT AND INTERSTING

7. What is your current impression of the 111? -- Slightly less snarky, much more intersting and friendly, still very intelligent, and generally quite awesome.

8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there) -- Never been.

9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there) -- x100 SNARKY, way more sex talk, and of course x10000000000000 poemfag. Highly amusing place, and it has some good folks too. I just didnt get involved in it. Lurked some, but never posted like I do in 111.

10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111? -- Someone who's appearances and disappearances in the thread do not cause "WHO THE ******** ARE YOU?" kind of posts, someone who is recognized by at least 3 people and converses with them on a semi-regular basis.

11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111? -- I didn't realize that the 111 had values.

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111? -- xd Daily.

13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they? --I wouldn't say that my beliefs and opinions are new, but getting to know some of the people in there has made me more open in regards to gay/lesbian/bi-sexuality. Kinda made me realize that they're just normal people like everyone else.

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):
1. What is your age? -- I'm 18 now!

2. Where are you from? (state or country) --CANADA. Lol, I'm in Whitby, Ontario, but you can translate that as Toronto.

3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college) -- I'm a sales associate at the local Winners since October and first year university student starting Sunday.

4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.) -- My parents pay for it, but that might be changing when I move in with my Gramma this weekend.

Optional namedropping ahoy!:
5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why? --Jasper Riddle and Dybael are the first two that come to mind, because they are the least snarkiest most nicest people in there and I like talking to them most all of the time. Also Tailos and Moth because they're just plain fun and I talk to them on MSN and outside of the 111 and stuff.

6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why? -- I don't think I look down upon anyone in the 111, but there are certainly some people with more negative attitudes than others. The ones with the really negative attitudes and the ones who are just plain mean most of the time are the ones I don't enjoy talking to as much. But yeah, I'm still cool with everyone you know?

1. How did you discover Gaia?

I went to this roleplaying forum, Stellmond. The administrator [an amazing and fabulous girl] went to Gaia at the time and referred everyone to it. I signed up but only picked it up after a few months, which is when I began frequenting the op/l.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?

Pretty much I scrolled down on the forum list.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?

About two and a half years.

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?

About two and a half years.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)

Uh, probably about one and like... three quarters years? I dunno.

6. What was your initial impression of the 111?

I ... forget. Really. xd It was more laidback and idol-worshippy then, though.

7. What is your current impression of the 111?

We're a snarky group of snots. confused We're significantly less xenophobic, however, but considerably less imaginative.

8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there)

9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there)

The minilurve was a lot more mature and not necessarily in a positive sense. They were all sex and snark, and although it was intimidating they seemed a lot more open than the 111.

10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111?

One who has been frequenting the 111 for multiple months and is widely accepted as a-ok. Ikaru was never a regular.

11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111?

Other than the obvious humor, there's always been the sort of distance from personal things and a neutral stance on things like religion, sexuality, politics. It's nice.

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?

Too frequently.

13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they?

WHAT IS LOVE? BABY DON'T HURT ME

DON'T HURT ME

NO MORE

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):

1. What is your age?

15. I always want to answer 13, oops.

2. Where are you from? (state or country)

North Illinois. I can spit into wisconsin.

3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college)

High school student. Also I dance, lol?

4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.)

Mother, I guess.

Optional namedropping ahoy!:

5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why?

This actually kind of stretches across everything. I definitely look infinitely up to a few people -- Latkes, for one, and Galvorte. Latkes because I don't know how he does it, he's too funny and he also knows what the hell he's talking about -- and for standing up to the obnoxious kid who decided to hate Christianity. Galvorte because he's honest and respectable and he cares. It's hard to see that anymore.

A level down, people I just normal look up to: Dybael, Prairie, Tailos and Sui. I count the last two as a unit. Prairie is just crazy respectable, she knows where she stands and what she's gonna say about it and she's smart in an unconventional, awesome way. Tailos and Sui, they make the 111 not suck or be serious. Serious is gay. Serious is for fags.

And Dyb. Well. Dyb. heart She's too forgiving though. Sleep with one eye open, kid.

6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why?

I hate to say it but there's a few people I look down on too. confused I've never really been comfortable with Jasper Riddle because all that comes out of her text is repetitive and annoying, slightly self-centered and childish. Jile because of the idol worshipping. Other people I can't really remember. I'm uncomfortably negative and I also look down upon myself for that because I'm not nearly as cool or impressive or nice or awesome as anyone, say... Latkes. Or Dyb. Especially Dyb.

And I mean, there's always all these people you hate. The stupid ones. Where your idiotdar starts beeping? Them.

I'm so self-conscious. I just wondered if anyone was idiotdarring me.

1. How did you discover Gaia?

I joined Gaia to spite my sister because she didn't want me to.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?

Um. I think I was bored, and was at the library so I couldn't really do anything of my own work, so I checked it out. Also, because of NaNo and wanting to read other people's work, I think.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?

Since mid '04.

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?

About a year.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)

About a year.

6. What was your initial impression of the 111?

4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.)

My parents.

Optional namedropping ahoy!:
5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why?

Everyone, I think. It's more the case of who I see most that I know better. At the moment, Latkes, because he's awesome at picking me up when I'm down. I love Jasper's pixel art, and Mob's writing. Ghostie's been a really true friend to me. Tailos makes me laugh my head off and often prompts me into hyperness. The 111's the best part of my day. I wish I could spend every day there. heart

6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why?

No one. At least, I try not to. Except people that cause drama for the sake of it, or try to incite fighting.

I bet there are people that look down on me~! rofl

1. How did you discover Gaia?
Waaaaay, way back, my girlfriend introduced me to it for an RP group involving pirates and incredible.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?
Being a losernerd writer who wanted to be recognized and a pretty little icon with a quill on it. More or less, I clicked on it and realized I could post my shitty middle-school work.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?
Very nearly four years now, with a big break at one point.

Four sad, long years.

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?
Probably three years, though not actively.

The 111 is anti-values.

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?

1. How did you discover Gaia?
Used to read a webcomic ages ago that I can't remember the name of. Similar to MacHall; it had an advertisement to Gaia which was only a few months old. I joined for the lulz.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?
Been a lurker since I joined.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?
Uh, July '03 I think. Just over four years nao.

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?
Same answer as above, although I lurked ED at the time and still lurk Science and Technology in ED.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)
Probably about a year and two months or so?

6. What was your initial impression of the 111?
Fun banter between writers, a place of collective learning and techniques sharing, helping others when they're in a rut, that sort of thing.

7. What is your current impression of the 111?
Anything and everything else besides the above.

8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there)
Too slow for my liking, not enough regulars, and I sort of get sick at seeing all the whining.

9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there)
Elitist, self-righteous poetfags. At the same time, about 33% more intelligent than 111ers when they want to be. sad Depressing, really.

10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111?
Someone who posts regularly.

11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111?
The open-mindedness to argue over petty things and flame the everloving s**t out of newbies? Or, uh, the patrons I figure are more important than the collective values.

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?
Much too frequently. I'm nearly always lurking. ninja

13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they?
There are actually some decent Amerifags out that side of the Pond, south-ways of Canadian borders. And a belief that being a chronic procrastinator isn't entirely a bad thing.

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):
1. What is your age?
20.

2. Where are you from? (state or country)
The Great (and small) (is)Land of Britannia.

3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college)
University student.

4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.)
I do.

Optional namedropping ahoy!:
5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why?
As in, admire? I admire Pan's dedication to his learning-Moonspeak. Sui for being a track-f** (because I haet running). I don't admire many others, but I do consider them great in their own rights. Especially most of the Australians.

6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why?
Mobster Lobster, just because I can't bring myself to find any good side of him that I agree with, and Prairie's "clique" when gathered together. Individually, they're alright; together they irk me so much. With the exception of Rum.

Also Sui for major hate because of his Amerifag patriotism.

When Britain first, at Heaven's command
Arose from out the azure main;
This was the charter of the land,
And guardian angels sung this strain:

"Rule, Britannia! rule the waves:
"Britons never will be slaves."

Why?

1. Some nerds told me to make a character so I could get in touch with them (this was before everyone had a cell phone apparently).
2. I scrolled down.
3. 4 years this November
4. Same
5. Probably since late '04
6. Poor
7. Mediocre (there were ups and downs in between then and now)
8. Circus has more bears
9. About the same, but a slightly more mature subject. Slightly.
10. Anyone who makes an effort to assimilate via bad jokes.
11. Haha.
12. In a normal situation I'll log in on perhaps Friday or Saturday night to check messages and see what drama is in store for the 111. No more than 20 minutes a week unless I'm away or have time off (such as now).
13. Nah, nothing profound at least.

1. Old enough to be suspicious on a kid's Web Site.
2. Maine
3. Ransom fees pay the bills.
4. Me, $45 a month, all for Warcraft.
5. Arddunaid, Heidi no Lux, Destruction Kitty, Doll76, Oxxidation. All for very different reasons, but the one unifying factor is a level of common sense that so many other people seem to lack.
On a different level, Omgtehsuiso, Prairie_Fire, Ogdred Rum, Birdbrain. These guys are just good people and have that same air of realism that's hard to find; you know that when they make a point to be something other than facetious it's genuine.
6. Haha, nobody really. There are some pretty sad people around, but that's the Internet for you, and a lot of them that just want some attention, but you have to be a pretty pretentious b*****d to actually look down on someone over the Internet. Right guys?

1. How did you discover Gaia?
My friend Chas. She told me about it, and I just... took to it more than she did, I guess.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?
I was looking at the forums. The Chatterbox was boring, so was everything else. I saw the word Writing. It made me happy.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?
I have no idea and personally, it has never mattered to me before. (Aka, I'm too lazy to go check.)

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?
Since the creatation of this account.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)
Um... A year. Maybe a year and a half.

6. What was your initial impression of the 111?
It seemed like a cool exclusive club. And way back then, I was kinda lame and wanted to be part of the cool exclusive club.

7. What is your current impression of the 111?
After I got to know the people, it was great. I loved hanging out with people who were actually intelligent. After my “temporary leave of absence” it’s been a little difficult to get back in the 111 groove, but I really hope I can. =]

8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there)
9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there)

10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111?
A regular is anyone who frequented the 111 before or during my time there. Which is slightly biased, I know. I missed a lot. XD

11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111?
I value people who are funny, not totally asshats, and generally fun to "be around".

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?
It used to be every single day. Now it's very seldom, whenever I'm not sleeping or reading.

13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they?
Well, yeah, but nothing that will affect the 111 or this survey.

Haha, I wrote about internet culture in my anthro class and got an A+. razz Sure I'll help.

1. How did you discover Gaia?
Another internet friend introduced me. I left for a few months, re-discovered the site and first-time discovered the Writer's Forum, then decided to stay.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?
Compleatley by accident.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?
Two years, going on three.

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?
Same.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)
About the same ammount of time as I've been on Gaia, although my activity has dropped off recently.

6. What was your initial impression of the 111?
Cool peeps! I hope they like me.

7. What is your current impression of the 111?
Where have all the cool peeps gone? Why can't I think of anything to say anymore? Basicly, I feel like I've outgrown the 111, or something like that. Maybe outgrown is too pretentious. Maybe I just moved on or got bored. I dunno, I still come back from time to time.

8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there)
Slower, conversation slightly more predictable but also more intellectual.

9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there)
A lot of cool 111ers came from Minilurve, but it never felt like the place for me.

10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111?
Posts often, has a prominent personality, liked by most.

11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111?
Um... values? I don't think we have any, honestly. I have my own values that I try to support in the thread, but if the 111 has any values they are be random, have fun, and be comfortably elite. Most of the time people are respectful to each other, but we have weird ways of showing affection.

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?
Up until a few months ago I posted there almost every day. Now I drop in once in a while to spy on the conversation, see who's on, then go back to playing WoW or whatever else I was doing before.

13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they?
I've learned that most people have something amazing to say if you ask the right questions. Prair, Dozer, Jaho, Doll, Jile, RA, Jabber, Sui, Latkes, and a many others I can't name have all experianced things in their lives I find incredable. Basicly, at one point or another, everyone in the 111 has said something that made me sit back and go, "Wow, so this is what life can be."

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):
1. What is your age?
20. =)

2. Where are you from? (state or country)
California.

3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college)
College student looking for work.

4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.)
My mom. sweatdrop

Optional namedropping ahoy!:
5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why?
There are a lot of people in the 111 I've looked up to over the years. Prair is amazingly strong, though she sometimes comes off as a b***h. Latkes has always been an inspiration to me. As a writer and person I've always imagined him to be playful and sometimes overjoyed at life, but he also seems a lot more responsible than me. RA, I look up to you for having written so much, where as I haven't written much at all.

6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why?
When Priar and Rum are together I tend to avoid the 111, mostly because I feel like I'm interrupting something. I don't look down upon them, but the combination of the two of them makes me think twice about entering. Looking down on someone requires me to believe myself their better. I don't think there's anyone in the 111 I can call myself better than.

1. How did you discover Gaia?
A friend of mine told me about the site and bugged me to get an account.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?
I like writing, so I decided to post in the forum.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?
All together on two different accounts I have been on Gaia for about five years.

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?
About three years.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)
Since the summer of 2005

6. What was your initial impression of the 111?
I was pleased with the group, for its literate chatting on random topics.

7. What is your current impression of the 111?
Insane and in the midst of some minor discord.

8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there)

9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there)

10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111?
Someone who posts on a fairly regular basis and is relatively well known by the people in the topic.

11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111?
Tough question. I keep my personal values very strongly in the 111, but I try not to impose any beliefs on them. The 111 is not a place dedicated to anything but the occasional belief war. It is for fun.

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?
Everyday or every few days depending on my schedule.
13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they?
Sure, some really random ones. I've gained the opinion that you don't have to agree with someone to get along with them. There are several people in the 111 whose beliefs differ so much from my own, but I still like them... for the most part anyway. sweatdrop

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):
1. What is your age?
17

2. Where are you from? (state or country)
Washington

3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college)
Student at both high school and college level.

4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.)
The government.

Optional namedropping ahoy!:
5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why?
I think I look up to a lot of people on the 111. I especially respect Jasper Riddle, RA, Eve, and Dybael. They are, for the most part, both mature and funny. They usually take the time to notice me and that makes me glad I came to the forum, so I try to return the favor. I also really like RA's stories.

6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why?
Ah, the easy question. There's always someone to be looked down upon. Mostly I look down on people who don't strike me as being all that Serious about writing (and I don't mean fanatical either. I'm upset by the people who enter the forum, and sometimes the 111, who don't even seem to show an interest in writing even as a hobby). As far as specific persons, there is one person in the forum who I greatly dislike being around. Every time she and I are in the forum together it seems like she does everything she can to be VERY mean. Her attitude in the forum disappoints me.

1. How did you discover Gaia?
I heard about it from my sister's friend and decided to look.

2. How did you discover the Writer's Forum?
At first I went to the ED, but it was just too crazy and fast. So I looked for a different forum and found the WF.

3. How long have you been on Gaia?
A little over three years.

4. How long have you been in the Writer's Forum?
A bit over two years.

5. How long have you been posting in the 111? (if you don't know when you first posted, just guesstimate)
Again, a bit over two years.

6. What was your initial impression of the 111?
It was intimidating. Everyone knew each other and seemed fairly internet-cool.

7. What is your current impression of the 111?
Meh. A bunch of punctuation-crazy kids that happen to be online all the time and that share a general like of writing and have zany senses of humor.

8. What is your impression of the Circus compared to the 111? (leave blank if you've never been in there)
Blank

9. What was your impression of Teh Minilurve compared to the 111? (leave blank if you never went in there)
The MiniLurve is a bit more sexual, a bit more angsty. Just more extreme. Often more serious, often much less serious.

10. How would you define a "regular" of the 111?
Someone that recognizes and is recognized by other users. Also someone who conforms to the basic rules of good punctuation and plain text, and stays around for more than just a day or two.

11. What values do you hold important in regards to the 111?
Humor, intelligence, and an open mind.

12. How frequently would you say you post/lurk in the 111?
Sometimes daily, but generally once or twice a week.

13. Have you formed any new beliefs/opinions since joining the 111? What are they?
Um, people often aren't as scary as they seem. And I learned that it can be really fun to be part of some sort of club or group or whatever. And that internet friends are real friends. Mostly.

Optional Questions (but I'd like it if you answered them!):
1. What is your age?
Eighteen.

2. Where are you from? (state or country)
California.

3. What is your occupation? (if student, specify high school or college)
College student, retail.

4. Who pays for your internet connection? (you, your parents, etc.)
My parents.

Optional namedropping ahoy!:
5. Who in the 111 do you look up to? Why?
Hm... This is a fun one. Scarlet Jile and MajKai Nis, for being freaking intelligent people that can really liven up the forums with their sarcastic and ironic humor. Neither of them come around often anymore, though, and that makes me sad. There are other people, of course, but these guys just stand out.
(And Dozer and Doll, because together we form the 111 Illuminati.) ninja

EDIT: I forgot to mention Kali, who has been relentlessly kind to me pretty much since she got my IM screen name. She can be silly, but in the end she's probably one of the kindest, nicest, and most patient 111ers. Period.

6. Who in the 111 do you look down upon? Why?
Oh, no. Um, really new people. Just because I'm a stodgy old person that hates change. People that post excessively without really contributing to the conversation, and people that don't try to get to know people before declaring that they're king or queen of the forums.
