Morin thought he was never going to finish that homework in time. He wanted to surprise Kappa today with a visit since he didn’t get to see his younger brother as much as he would have liked any more. University was a lot more intense than Academy work. So not bothering with a costume, he slipped into some of his more casual clothes, which where admittedly a bit ripped up and ran to the nearest portal that he could.
Only to hear from Kappa’s dorm that he had already gone to the festival, alone. Morin was proud that Kappa had tried to go but also worried at the same time. Kappa didn’t do well in crowds and if he wasn’t with his new friend. No he was being a worry wart and Kappa was probably just fine… probably. He was still searching around for the younger male. He called out a few times but his voice was already low and with this noise….. he didn’t even notice the turnip that was thrown at his head, probably because it hit the bad side.
"It is. We did good this year to not get caught before trick or treating. Maybe we should celebrate by TPing someone's house? A caretaker or..." Their eyes widened as they thought of the ultimate trouble jackpot, "or Headmaster Ava's house." They said, ending their sentence on a whisper. They definitely didn't want to get stopped and yanked out of the trick or treating just for saying something so...so...blasphemous.
"Or we can collect some of the chocolate poop candies and leave them in places for people to step on." Kie continued, using a much less scary prank. It was down to one big huge prank...or a series of tiny ones. The poops would affect more people than TPing one big house.
Kieran turned in the direction of Korv's voice and saw people jumping out of the way of a speeding blur that was honing in on green fur. Kie pointed at the disturbance. "There they are. Lets go say hi, maybe they'll help us out with some pranks." They headed off towards the other three, catching a chocolate poo gummy on the way. It was time to collect some pranking supplies.
Kiessi was having the best day! After spending a lot of time in the orphanage, they had finally been adopted! And if that hadn't been enough, it was Halloween. They couldn't wait! Halloween had always been their favorite time of year, because around that time of year was the one time they hadn't been looked down on for their one eye, everyone always assumed it was a mask of some sort, and for a moment they would actually feel normal.
Kiessi gratefully took the little pumpkin bucket, peering inside to see the candy apple and little cat plushie that had made it's way in there. Kiessi's face turned into a wide grin. Yep! This was going to be the best Halloween ever!
"Spectre Fox?" Frost looked up at the big beastie and raised a hand to pet it on its nose gently. "I'll take good care of him! What do they eat, Mommy?" He had to know if he was going to feed him. Walking it was going to be easy, the long legged fox looked like it would be able to keep up with him just fine.
"It's okay, Mommy, I'm sharing with you. I'm sure I'll get more." Frost pointed out, sure enough another piece of chocolate and another bat plush basically magiced themselves into his pail. "Look, I got one like yours!" the pup cried, holding up the bat plushie that he'd gotten. He gave it a squeeze and put it gently back in his basket for safe keeping.
Ana accepted the plushie and, with a quick look towards the spectre fox, edged out from behind Madla to go to the next house. She skipped off up the drive and proudly held out her basket, "Trick or treat~!" she called, watching the person closely as they plopped something it.
Luckily it wasn't a trick this time. It still wasn't candy, but the bracelet was adorable. Three little pumpkin heads. Ana snatched it out of the pail and put it on immediately. This was the kind of thing she liked. She headed back to her mother, ready to show Madla her new prize.
When she arrived she held up the wrist and the new bracelet and allowed her mother to coo over it. "Isn't it awesome? Much better than old, stale popcorn."
Madla watched her daughter go off and smiled, petting the fox to make it stay by her side. Ana would get over her fear of the animal by the end of the night, the Geist knew it, but for now Madla was fine catering to her nervousness a little.
"Alright, a name for you, sir." Madla said, glancing at the fox before watching her daughter again. Losing her was not something Madla wanted, and children had a habit of forgetting their mothers and focusing on candy. "Mmm. I think Minax would work very well for you." She grinned at the fox before her attention was grabbed by the return of her daughter. Madla dutifully examined and cooed over the bracelet, but what her daughter said made her pause.
"Anastara." She said, lowering herself to Ana's level and using the firm mother voice she'd developed, "There are children right now that would give anything to have stale popcorn because at least they got to come out and trick or treat with everyone else. There are children in the orphanage that don't get to ever come out and enjoy the festivities like you do. We should be grateful even for off-brand candy."
Edited 10/15, Added response Phyre was really nervous as she waited for her new mommy to come and get her, not sure how to deal with all the strangers around her as the caregiver with her tried to keep her calm. This place was strange, and there was so many people! Where was her mommy?
However, as she saw the puffy blue and pink hair with her unique horns, Phyre knew that her mommy was coming this way. She was unable to contain her excitement, leaving her old caregivers side and running over to Candy ", Candy!!! You came!"
"Of course I did," Candy smiled as she rushed over to Phyre, picking up the little hybrid while being careful of her one tiny wing ", You ready to go play some games here for the festival? You can get a lot of sweets and more plushies."
"But I already have you Candy," Phyre giggled some before hugging her new mommy ", And you are the sweetest thing I could have, but more plushies would be nice."
With a nod of understanding, Candy brought Phyre over to a game she thought would be easy for the freshling to do. It was a simple game where a bunch of freshlings would go around a circle made of numbers while some music played. When the music stopped the nightmare in charge would pull some numbers out of his bucket and those standing on those numbers would get a prize.
Phyre nearly squealed with excitement as her number was called on the first try for some candy, causing Candy to let out a small giggle. Freshlings were so cute, especially Phyre ", Can I keep playing?" She asked her as she recieved her chocolate bat and pumpkin bucket to put it in, looking to Candy for an answer.
"How about we go to a game we can play together? That way we can play and both get candy."
Phyre gave a nod, waving goodbye to the other freshlings still playing and rushed over to Candy. Usually she would be too shy to do much of anything, but she felt safe and surprisingly brave when Candy was here with her.

Ivy wove in between the stalls peeking in every so often. Most of the games didn't overly interest her and she honestly was more interested in watching others than participating. Everyone was acting so different, almost like a magic spell had been cast on them when they put on their costume. She wondered if she was acting any different too...?
When something caught her eye from a booth she stopped and got the attention of the stall keeper. "Tricks or Treats." she said with a soft smile.
=========
She watched a little bat plushie and a box of raisins clunk into her pail. While the raisins weren't what she'd been after, the plushie was. She gave a little bob and smiled again. "Thank you." she then moved on.
After the nasty gum stop, Coralie had resolved to stick with her family and to be as sedate as Ashlynn. Or at least, that had been the plan. And while she not to out-run the others, she still couldn't keep from wriggling her way to be first in line.
This time, her reward was the cutest little chocolate bat and she grinned as it dropped into her bucket. As they continued on their way, Coralie heard a voice from behind hale the tiny group.
"Miss! Don't forget this! It's part of the prize!"
Pausing, she grinned even more as the cutest little bat plush was handed over.
"Hey, thanks!"

Foras had arrived on the scene a bit late. But Hallowed Haunt was a really fun Holiday and he'd gotten some help throwing a costume together. So he couldn't be wasting the day away! He wandered around to the different events and held out his pumpkin basket excited. At one location he was actually handed a candy apple instead! OH DID IT LOOK SUPER YUMMY.
Adelinde's next stop wasn't nearly so fruitful as the others. As she knocked and called out happily, a truly ancient looking Litch tottered out and smiling, dropped the scariest looking turnip thing ever into the baphomet's bucket.
"Umm... Thank you?"
Left unspoken was the horrified I think.

Resigning herself to Coralie's impetuous nature, Ashlynn walked alongside Gilby and pointed out some of the decorations. Really, the babies were ridiculously easy to entertain at thsi point. Show them pretty, spooky things and they were happy.
Less happy was Ashlynn when the next booth they knocked out dropped a box of raisins into her bucket. Sighing a little, she figured the flitterat or Gilby would probably enjoy them.
Kids were useful like that.

Zahneel hadn't quite seen what had been dropped into her outstretched bucket due to the dim lighting and score of other people milling about. So when she paused to looked, she wrinkled her nose in mild distaste. The hand itself was suitably cool. But she could smell the staleness of the popcorn and just how very gross the candy corn was.
Just... eww.

The tall imp was enjoying herself immensely at this point. As she wandered between booths and rang the occasional bell, she was seeing cool costumes and decorations and cuteness and UNH! So. Much. Fun.
Her next stop did not disappoint either. As she warbled out, "Trick or treat!", she was thrilled to see the prettiest sugar skull dropped into her bucket. Really, it was too pretty to try and eat. Was there a way to preserve sugar like that? She'd have to find out.

As they trotted happily along, watched Momma trick or treat and Momma point out decorations, Gilby barely registered the poor quality of their next treat. The candy didn't look very soft or feel very nice, but the wrappers were pretty.
They would consider this a win.

There seemed to be few trick or treaters tonight, no one had come to her door for awhile now. Eyeing the bowl of candy that sat by the door, she told her self she shouldn't and tried to distract herself for awhile.
Of course that worked for all of about five minutes before she ran back to the bowl and snatched a chocolate bat before scampering away. If no one saw her eat it, the calories didn't count. Right? Right.
Oh who cares, these things were delicious.
Meliza
This. Was. Hilarious. Oh Nine, were these for real? He wasn't about to bite into it to find out, but this was by far the funniest thing they'd seen all night. OH OH. Eli knew just what to do. They'd put it in a toilet. Yes. That was the best use for this. Heh.
Kazim
Wha...? Ugh. Rolling out of bed, his hair sticking straight up on one side, Kaz shuffled for the door. He thought he'd heard something. Not even bothering to stop and put on pants, the tired Grimm undid the lock and looked out to see... nothing. Huh. Ok. He was about to close the door again when a meow stopped him. Looking down, he saw some striped vespercat, with one of those ugly a** turnip things beside him. The cat looked pretty proud, as if he'd caught this all by himself. Kaz stared blankly for a few moments, not sure how to process what he was seeing.
The vespercat shared none of that issue however. Picking up his prize, he carried it past Kaz and into the apartment, as if he'd already said enough on the matter by showing up. For his part, Kaz just kept staring at where the cat had been, blinking slowly before closing the door with a shrug. Ok, whatever. Sure.
Without another thought for the creature that had just welcomed himself inside, Kaz went back to bed.
Tayce
Eyes alight with glee, she squee'd audibly and then looked abashed by the noise, but the embarrassment didn't last for long as she paraded around with her brand new plush. Best present ever. She wasn't even aware of the packet of gum being deposited in her bucket. And frankly she didn't care, she'd already gotten her favorite thing of the night. Now to think of a name for her new green vesperkitty plushie. Hmmm...
Draven
Seemed like these disgusting things were all the rage this year. He could see them being fun for drinking games maybe, but somehow thought even then he wouldn't be able to bring himself to eat one. A much more pleasant surprise was yet another battie plush. One he didn't already have either. He picked it up and lobbed it gently into the air, catching the plush easily. These things were fun to toss around, and Shade had fun chasing them around when she wasn't busy being the laziest bunch of fur ever. Shrugging, he took his prize and poop away, amused.
