Senior Imp - Mutated. Eyes on ears and one on chest. - Colored by Nepsah
Freshling Imp - Mutated. Double pupil mutation in each eye! - Colored by Nepsah
Junior Geist - Mutated. Has a third eye. - Colored by Nepsah

Opens: October 12th
Closes: November 9th, 11:59 PM EST

This year, like any other, the village of Asphodel Gardens is celebrating their annual Haunted Hallow's festival in the Gardens Park! Games are practically littered throughout the grounds, and the sound of children squealing can be heard from quite a distance away. Plenty of juniors and seniors are trying their luck with festival games, while freshlings are being guided by caretakers on an adventure to trick-or-treat throughout the village. Costumes of all sort adorn the Nightmare's celebrating the holiday. Do you care to join the celebrations?

            How to play:
            • Every day you are allowed to roll for each of your Nightmares to receive treats or tricks! You also can end up with a familiar, if you're lucky. However, you must RP your character receiving their prize, or doing something in the festival when you roll. It's suggested that while you can roll for every Nightmare you have, you only roll for the amount of responses you can handle! You can keep rolls in one post, or in individual posts.
            • Roll a 20-sided die per Nightmare you're including in the ORP! Odd numbers give you a trick (which you can grab from the prize list found below). Even numbers give you a treat. If the number ends in a 3, 6, or 9, you can also take home a plushie along with your original prize. If the number ends in a 5, you may also take home a familiar along with your original prize.
            • Rolling a treat not only gets your Nightmare a candy/trinket, but also a point! The three people with the most points (the most won treats) will be able to take a Nightmare home with them (which are pictured above). However, only three of your rolls a day can equal your treat tally. If you roll six Nightmare's and five win treats, only three of those will be tallied. Please keep a list at the bottom of your posts for us to easily manage how many treats you have! Failure to do so will mean you aren't included for the chance to win one of the three Nightmare's!
            • Do not delete posts. We will disqualify you from the chance to win the Nightmare's if you do!
            • You may RP quests! If you lack a Nightmare you are allowed to RP an approved quest within this game! If you have more then one quest, you are permitted three quests to play in this game.
            • While most of the characters will receive prizes through trick-or-treating, you are encouraged to create creative situations if you grow bored of your character receiving a prize through the standard trick-or-treating!
            • Characters may trade prizes! Treats can be traded, but keep in mind the points they give you will vanish and be given to the new person! Keep your logs updated!
            • Only take one prize per each roll!

            Free Candy Buckets!:

Your Nightmare is allowed to take one bucket to help them in their trick-or-treating endeavors!

            Tricks:

This is disgusting, and creepy. Whoever gave you this must hate children.

            User Image
Wow. Not only is the popcorn stale, but the candy is a knock-off brand. Gross.

            User Image
Maybe it's just me, but who gives children out of date candy? And it tastes like sadness.

            User Image
This gum looks old, and tastes like a couch.

            User Image
I wanted candy. Not raisins. This is the one day that eating healthy is actually bad. Geeze.

            User Image
A rock? Are you kidding me....

            User ImageUser ImageUser Image
Wow. Wow gross. This is gummy poo! It's candy, we promise, but ew.

            Plushies:

DSKLJHLKGHKLSD. Where did that come from?! Oh, well, it seems the Nezubat wants to come home with you!

Woah, look out! You almost kicked a Pumpka!

            User Image
It seems that, when you were reaching in your pail, a little Flitterat poked it's head out! Is it... mutated? How cool! Maybe it'll go home with you?

            User ImageUser Image
Who left this cat in a box? Well, guess the Vespercat is yours, now!

User ImageHaunted Hallows had come at last! Homework was a memory, as was the hours of curled up in bed, staring out the window, and wondering what her little brothers were doing at that moment. It was on the other side of the world, so...probably napping? She expected to get a letter tomorrow about what they'd been up to, as well as photos. But that was tomorrow, and this was tonight! With a pair of paper-mache antlers on her head and a big robe covering her, Sara was ready for a bit of Haunted Hallows--Asphodel style. Tonight they were in a park, brightly lit with people everywhere and booths set up. Sara was amongst the first to arrive, from the looks of it. From the looks of it, her partners for the evening were not yet here. She paused by the booth at the entrance--there, a grinning Imp was offering buckets for candy and prizes. Sara's hand hovered over an orange one, but in the end she settled for one of the lavender ones. "It matches mah costume," she said with a laugh. She was dressed as a servant of Eleusinia--a psychopomp. Although she had taken some liberties with the costume--who'd ever heard of a psychopomp with a pet kidden?

Sara's new kidden was harnessed and leashed, her tongue lolling out. Sara smiled at Pestilence, watching her as she hopped around in excitement. "We gotta wait here, Pest," she said. "We're waitin' fer Neptune an' Maria, remember?" The thought of those two made her bounce on her hooves, nearly as excited as Pest. She couldn't wait to see them, and spend the evening with them...maybe they'd even get to hold hands...?!

She looked around while waiting. There was a game nearby with a spin-the-wheel prize. She juggled her bucket and the leash and spun the wheel. The Demon behind the wheel grinned. "That gets you a candy apple!"

"Thanks!" she said. "Um, caramel, please?"

The Demon nodded and handed her the sticky treat. She looked around--the Imp at the entrance was waving her over. "You're the first one here," he said. "There's a prize for that!" He lobbed something small and fluffy towards her. Suddenly, there were too many things in Sara's hands; she dropped the leash and held up the bucket to catch the object. "Thanks!"

She peered inside. A little green and purple bat plush! So cute! ...Wait....where did Pest go...?

User ImageThis wasn't Quilo's first Haunted Hallows, not by a long shot. Well, okay, maybe by one? He was six, and this was definitely his first in which he was not accompanied by a caretaker. Hopefully. Hopefully she wouldn't notice that he had staged a daring escape. Now all Quilo had to do was hope she didn't find him! In the crowd he expected to find, he didn't think it would be too difficult to avoid her.

Quilo climbed on top of the statue at the entrance to the park and looked around, ignoring grown-ups shouting for him to get down. Where was Tarin? And where was Ella? He sighed and climbed back down. He might as well collect a pumpkin and start playing games. He gave the Imp at the front a big smile. "Please pass me a yellow one, please?" he said. "It's my favorite color."

"It also matches your costume!" she gushed. "Look at you, little firefighter!"

Quilo gave her a jaunty salute and slung his pumpkin over his shoulder. "Don't play with matches!" he shouted to the Imp, and set out on his way. He looked around for the first game to play. Bobbing for apples? Well, that looked like fun! He skipped over there, set his pumpkin on the ground, and stuck his head in the barrel.

User Image

After being corrected on how to play, Quilo was able to snatch up an apple from the barrel with his teeth. He was handed a candy apple in exchange for the original, and with another happy salute, he went back to the entrance to wait for his friends, munching on the spoils of play.

Ella was excited! She hadn't been trick-or-treating without her mother before! Lyra mentioned she'd come by later in the evening, but she was busy at the moment with some of her responsibilities. Her mother had helped her with her costume! Before class that day, her mother had sat down and helped her dress up as a cop, topping it off with a stylish police hat before giving her daughter a kiss on the head. She had started the day ready, and now the sun had finally fallen and it was time.

Normally, Ella would stay beside the caretakers. She never minded being escorted, and she wasn't one of those freshlings who caused trouble 24/7. She was content being led over to the pumpkin pail station and being handed a pail. She was perfectly happy when they began their journey to trick-or-treat. Nothing was out of the ordinary until she spotted Quilo. The hybrid abruptly stopped walking, eyes lighting up and tail wiggling before she made a mad dash into the crowd, oblivious to the fact she was supposed to stay with her caretaker. It was Quilo! She was about to call out his name when an adult cooed out to her, bending over and dropping a bag of candies in her pail, leaving generous compliments for her costume. Flushing a soft teal, the little Imp hurriedly thanked them before catching up with her male best friend, tugging on his sleeve.

"Quilo! You- oh wow, your costume is lovely! Where is Tarin? Ooo, did you win something? Can I see?" Already she was an excited furball, bouncing on her heels as she flashed the brightest little smile. Now the festival was even better!

User ImageHaunted Hallows was an old holiday--that is, it was based on an old holiday. Back home they'd called it the Farewell to Light. But This...wasn't home. And looking at the bustle, and the excitement, at all of the lights and the pumpkins and the lanterns, looking at the joyous celebration of the night, and the feast of candy and good cheer...

...Ustule wasn't sure if it mattered anymore where she was. So she'd done a little research (she'd talked to her caretaker) and she'd done some work, and now she was all dressed up for the festival. She trotted out ahead of her caretaker, occasionally turning and waving to reassure him that she wasn't going to escape, and looked out at the fair. Her own face had been painted with a black skull on it, and she was dressed in black sweater and--gulp--slacks, with white bones appliqued on. A barebones! Perfect! She gave the Imp at the gate a shy smile and pointed out a pale pumpkin when she was prompted. The Imp handed it to her with encouraging words, and the evening had begun! She trotted over to a wheel with numbers on it. "What does thees do?"

She waited for a few seconds while the grown-up deciphered her accent. "Oh! You spin the wheel, and you win the prize indicated!" he said.

Sounded simple. She reached out her hand and gave the wheel a firm spin.

User Image

The grown-up shook his head. "Sorry, sweetie. It's not one of the big prizes.

Ustule pointed to a misshapen object hanging from a hook. "Ees thet one of the wee prizes?"

He looked at the object and nodded. "It is. Are you sure?"

Ustule nodded. "Yes, thank you," she said.

A turnip lamp! Just the thing to keep the ghouls away!

Tarin slipped out of the dorm and sighed at her outfit. Of the trio, she'd agreed to be the paramedic, even though she'd really wanted to be the cop, but Ella had really wanted that one so she'd given in without much of a fight. Least her mom, Rosie, was a nurse so she had an actual first aid kit box slung across her body and her scrubs had been made by her other mother, Sarithiel, from a set of Rosies' discards. Well at least she looked good. She'd even gone so far as to pull back her mass of hair so that she looked more professional. It wouldn't do to have your hair in your face during an emergency after all.

She wandered towards the front entrance but stopped at one of the booths that were lined up on the way out. Looked like a lot of the clubs older students were handing out candy to the students too young or timid to go off campus. Well it wouldn't hurt to lace her bag, Momma Sari was always saying it never hurt to have a little something for the pot to attract more spoils.

==============

Tarin looked over what the Senior had in their hand and took a rather large lollipop and tucked it in her bucket. She thanked them and then made her way towards the gate and smiled when she saw Quilo and Ella. "Quilo! Ella!" she trotted over and smiled at them.

This was the first time Neptune had ever been allowed to celebrate Haunted Hallows. Before, at the Bad Place, he wasn't allowed outside during the celebrations and no one ever came to their house to get treats or tricks-- though Neptune could never fathom playing a trick on anyone... So this was quite the new experience! And with so many people... Thankfully Melisara had helped him pick a costume, he'd been at a complete loss for what to do. Spooky things tended to scare him a little too much, but he wasn't sure going for something not spooky was allowed...

He really should have asked Sara to come with him... Upon seeing the large group of Nightmares headed for the park, he began to grow very, very nervous... But he'd made a promise to go trick-or-treating with her and Maria! So he couldn't back out now... that would just be rude and well... What if they stopped talking to him? Oh no. That thought alone was enough to spur him on to the festival grounds.

It would help if he didn't have to stop and adjust his flower accessories every so often... Who knew that dressing as The Maiden would be so difficult? Still, it was a nice pairing to go with Sara's and Maira's costumes. Just when he was starting to worry that he wouldn't find them, he spotted Sara up ahead playing a game.

He trotted on over, smiling nervously. "H-Hello M--Melisara...!" He couldn't help but wag his tail, happy to see her up close. Oh boy, she looked really nice dressed up like that... "S--sorry I'm l-late. I g-got um... Held up...!" He nodded, then turned his head a bit as the spin-the-wheel booth owner caught his attention. Well, they were there, so why not go for it? "A-ah, excuse me..." He shuffled over shyly and then spun the wheel....

Ah, a candy! His tail wagged excitedly as he picked out a little bucket that matched Sara's, and then a little thing of cotton candy. He then returned to Sara's side, loot in tow. "Ah-- okay, I'm b-back."

Nex pulled his vampire costume delicately, watching the black cape fall behind him. He was dressed as a stereotypical vampire, wearing a black cape with a red inside, a black suit, and fake fangs. He wasn't even sure why he chose a vampire, other than it was the easiest thing to grab at the moment. Sometimes, he'd see others walk by and wonder why he didn't try harder on his own outfit. He looked like he bought his outfit at the dollar store! Pressing his lips together, the quiet boy wandered to grab a free pail for his candy before pausing near the apple bobbing booth.

None of his friends could be found, yet. He had plenty of friends and yet, somehow, none were nearby. His tail flicked idly behind him as he considered that perhaps they had planned a candy outing and he had either not paid attention, or wasn't invited. Maybe they all were out already? Trick-or-treating to their hearts content while he stood empty handed with a pail. Frowning, again, the boy tossed the thought aside before heading over to a nearby booth, where he was handed darts and told to pop balloons. It didn't take long for him to win the game and thus be given a treat, and that was apparently enough time for someone familiar to finally become noticed.

Korvau. The hybrid walked by him without noticing Nex, but Nex noticed. Without thinking, the boy walked up to Korv, grabbed his sleeve gently, and tugged. No words were said, just piercing eyes staring at his his smaller friend.

User ImageAny wondering at his friends' locations ceased when Quilo spotted a familiar face. He waved frantically at Ella, candy coating his mouth. He got up and ran over to her, being careful as he hugged her not to get candy in her hair. "Thanks! Ella, you look super cool!" He stood back to admire his friend's costume. "You did a really good job! Hey, whatdidja get?" He peered into her pail and saw the candy skulls. "Those look neat! Are they chocolate, or are they sour?"

As for their other friend, Quilo shrugged. "Dunno where Tarin is. I was just looking for--her, Tarin!!" Grabbing Ella's hand with the hand that held his own bucket, Quilo ran over to Tarin and gave her a big hug as well. "You're late!" he said. "That's not a good response for an egerancy person. What's the word again?" He shrugged. "It's good to see you, what did you get? Come on, let's get more candy!"

User ImageSara took off across the still-empty grounds in pursuit of her wayward kidden. It seemed that Pest just wanted to make the most trouble she could in as short an amount of time as possible. As such, Sara didn't even see Neptune until Pest had taken refuge behind his knees. The kidden looked up at Neptune with slot-pupiled brown eyes and gave him an affectionate raspberry. Pest's Nightmare, on the other hand was distracted by Neptune.

He looked amazing! Not that she'd ever doubted it. She grinned and threw her arms around him. "Howdy, Neptune! How's yer first Haunted Hallows goin'?" This was his first--they had to make it special. She followed him to the wheel game. "Have y'seen Maria yet? Ah haven't seen anyone Ah know so far. But then again, the event's only just begun, lahk, five minutes'r so ago. So maybe she's just in the crowd?"

"Paramedic." she said and then sighed. "I know, not my fault though. Momma insisted on All the pictures so it took forever to get out of the house and for me to catch the train back to campus." she said. "And the first place I checked was our dorm, but you were already gone, so I had to find you too." she said. "But the important thing is that I'm here now."

She smiled at Ella. "You look good." she offered out her pail so Quilo could see inside of it while she looked over their other friends outfit.

Ganymede figured this would be the best holiday. He'd managed to ditch his caretaker (always so easy to fool that one...) and had found his way down to the main fairgrounds. Finally. Freedom, and access to candy. And maybe some other stuff, he could always put some bugs in Ella's bed. Fake ones. He didn't exactly want the real ones in the dorm room... But if not Ella, then definitely Foras. Smirking to himself he adjusted his costume, a stylish wizard's hat and robes, and then headed down towards the main group gathering at the entrance.

There, he spotted Ella. And her three friends. Lovely. It figured they'd be here, too. With a mental sigh and a roll of his eyes he stomped on past their little group, though Ella would probably know that irritated light show anywhere. Thankfully he was easily distracted by a nearby tossing game. He got into line, watching the others ahead of him play carefully... Hm... this didn't seem too bad.

When it was his turn he only managed to get one of the beanbags into the holes. How terrible. Still, the game master offered him a little pumpkin pail and his choice of a "trick" prize. At first he was going to turn him down, he spotted the turnip. Oh Nine. He needed that turnip.

"That one." He pointed, and then held out his pail. Once it was safely deposited inside, he turned to look around... what to do next... Too bad Vaden wasn't here....

Oh! He blinked, and looked down at the kidden hiding next to him, just in time to get that affectionate little pbbbt. He smiled a little, and then carefully reached down to pat Pestilence's head. Good kidden. He looked back to Sara, once again thinking to himself that she looked really nice like that... No, stop that. Bad Neptune.

"I--It's going okay...! I-- I um, got a little o-overwhelmed at f-first but I think I'm o-okay." He nodded and then shifted a little closer to her as a group of Nightmares passed by. "Oh, um,... n-no, I haven't s-seen Maria yet." He shook his head, ears flopping a little. "D-did they? Oh I was s-s-so sure I was late... really late... ahaha... Despite having graduated, Candy still enjoyed coming to festivals that went on in Asphodel Gardens, her favorite being Haunted Hallow's Eve of course! After all, her name was candy. Treats were by the plenty, and Candy found a lot of irony in the fact she liked sweets so much.

Looking for something to do, Candy made her way to one of the games and waited for her turn to try it out, receiving a few darts and being told to pop as many balloons as she could in the time limit.

User ImageUser Image

It felt nice to receive a piece of candy for her rather terrible throwing she had displayed here, putting the lollipop in her pumpkin bucket before leaving to head to to another game.

User Image
Halunted Hallow's Eve was an amazing time of the year, Lazarus deciding to go and enjoy the festival. He hoped there would be some good music that he could listen to, or perhaps a few skits going on he could watch. Then again, he would prefer to be actually on the stage performing and not watching, but that was okay.

Making his way around the place, he found one of the games rather interesting to say the least. It had something to do with playing a game similar to tic tac toe with another nightmare, but instead to choosing where you wanted to put your x or o, it was chosen by trying to throw your color ring on the spot you wanted. It didn't take Lazarus long to make it through the line, ready to start the game.

User ImageUser ImageUser Image

His aim had been terrible this time, him quickly losing and receiving his trick. A rock? Why did he get a rock?! You couldn't do much with a rock besides skip it across a pond, paint it, and have it as a 'pet'. Well, next game he wanted to try was where you knocked the tower of bottles over with a ball. Maybe he could practice his aim a bit more with that game before going back to the tick tack toe game?

As he left the game stand though, he noticed a little creature hiding behind a barrel, shivering in the growing cold. Stepping closer slowly, he got on his knees and offered his coat to the little one ", It is okay. I will keep you warm," turned out it was a Flitterat, a mutated one with two wings at that. As he offered his coat to the creature, it ran to him and curled up in his pockets, refusing to leave.

"I promise to keep you warm," Lazrus smiled, making his way to the bottle tower game to play.

Yihad despite hus better judgment had made the decision to come down to the festival, wearing a costume that covered hus face so no one could figure out it was hum. That way if hu embarrassed humself her then hu wouldn't be recognized and made fun of in school.

Coming to a game that seemed rather calm, Yihad looked on as some played, getting familiar with the game before getting in line to join. It was a pachinko game from the looks of it, one putting their pieces in at the top wherever they wanted and watching to see what it landed on at the bottom.

Had hu really won something? At winning the sweet, Yihad couldn't help but gleam with excitement, gladly accepting hus bag of candy corn and snuggling it some ", I won something. I actually won something."

It was the first time that they were able to go out trick or treating having pulled a prank the year before that landed them in time out for the whole event. Pherein even had the cutest bag ever to collect candy with. She had really wanted the black one but then the pale one kind of looked like Kepi. So obviously she had to take that one. Swinging the pale back and forth she waited and waited and waited for Kieran but her twin didn’t seem to be showing up. In fact she couldn’t find any of her friends.

To make matters worse a passerby dropped a rock of all things in her pale. In her frustration she kicked out and her foot almost came into contact with a pumpka. “Oh I am sooo sooo sorry. I didn’t mean it, it was dark and you blended in with the scenery and that wasn’t an excuse. I’ll just go wait over there” and to her surprise the pumpka followed her as she sat on a nearby bench. In fact in levitated into her lap. Welp looks like Kepi was getting a friend.
