User Image Alma had successfully managed to make the leaves march in a little circle when the phrase "steal the Internet" came out of Penelope's mouth. She let the leaves fall and tilted her head in a slight confusion.

"Steal the Internet?" Alma shook off the shock before continuing, "Um, no, I haven't heard about that... These past few months involved me diving into my art and avoiding any form of human contact...." She felt heat in her cheeks again. Just how long had it been since she had held normal conversations with people? Well, maybe not so normal. But either way, she felt like some hermit come back from the mountains and it was a strange feeling. That train of thought was interrupted by a thought crossing the tracks and caused the goth to ask a question. "Wait, how do you steal the Internet?"

User ImageLindsay thought for a second about Damien's question. She didn't want to weird the two new guys in town out too much, but any lie would be disproven quite soon.

Then the brunette, who she now knew as Cael, turned around and expressed his interest in the normalcy of the place too. Lindsay sighed quietly.

"First of all, the name's Lindsay. Nice to meet you two! I'd like to say that Delmor is usually nothing like this, but that'd be a blatant lie. There aren't always such explosive situations, but I'd say at least half of the people here on the Islandinsula have some form of abnormal ability, for various reasons... and the number seems to grow every day... which isn't because of people moving, don't get me wrong, I just think a lot of people are discovering, obtaining, or developing abilities recently. I could be wrong, though. A lot of people seem to develop secret identities as well... though there hasn't been too much more than petty crime since The Politician was stopped from stealing the internet. So basically, the short answer is yes, Delmor is quite a weird place," Lindsay explained, hoping that her answer made sense to the two guys and didn't just creep them out more.

User Image"I'm not sure why you'd want to, even," Penelope laughed. "But this guy, he called himself 'The Politician,' was trying to download the entire Internet onto a single server. He almost succeeded, too." She sighed, Josh was so much better at this story. Although, he did have the small advantage of having been there.

"These three kids from Delmor stopped him. Frost, Paramorph, and Captain Cripple. They called themselves 'The League of Special Individuals.' I suppose it just goes to show what people with unique abilities can do."

User Image'When I get home, I'll let my parents know that I'm walking back to Vermont.'

That was the first thought that passed through Cael's brain. The second was whether he would make it home alive to inform his parents of his plan. However the urge to run for his life was surpassed by his desire to understand everything. With a very somber expression Cael said, "So I moved into a comic book? Masked people fighting crime?" His brain had shorted and he just stood there. After a momentary reboot he smiled at the two people in front of him. "Lindsay, Damien, it was a pleasure. It's time that I leave." Turning around and walking off towards the PU club again he thought, 'Where is a hot girl with a guitar when you need one?'

And then...

Damien grinned lightly, amused at the fact that he had stumbled upon this town. Perhaps Tehra had picked it for a reason. "Well that is quite interesting...." he said with his charming smile. "So do you know of any people that actually have special abilities?" the man, who, himself was rather special, was asking these questions only to gather more information. He also was curious about whether or not Tehra's secret would remian secret, or if it would even matter. "And it's a pleasure Lindsay. So do you know anything about B.A.N.D. planning anything here?"

User Image Alma smiled; it seemed the story had ended with a happy feel. Something in the way Penelope said it, however, made the goth get the feeling she knew something more than what she was letting on. A small debate began in her mind; ask about more of the story or let it be. Curiosity won.

"That seems interesting. You don't happen to know more? I really like stories, especially ones that really happened," Before Penelope could respond to that, Alma added with a rush, "You could just tell where to find some news articles or something if you don't want to tell me any more." She didn't want to force herself on the girl, that only caused problems in the past and the results were normally stuff she didn't wish to remember.

User Image"Yeah, I guess you could say that, Cael... Good bye!" Lindsay said in response to the question about walking into a comic book. Pausing before she answered Damien's quite pointed questions, she finally answered, "I know... a few. I can't really say much more without violating several peoples' trusts, so you'll have to forgive me about that... As to B.A.N.D., I know they're playing at prom. I also think I heard something about them at the P.U... Are you a fan or a hater of B.A.N.D., if I may ask? It seems that everyone is one or the other... I think that they have a Splitter account that lists their shows if you're worried..."

Lindsay realized that she probably came off sounding like a crazed fangirl, but in fact, she was not a huge fan of B.A.N.D. They were better than some things on the radio these days, but there were many better bands out there. She only watched the Splitter because she, like countless others, rather worried that there would be one of the famous B.A.N.D. concert riots.

Damien shrugged. "I understand your need to protect trust. It is perfectly okay. And as for B.A.N.D? No I'm not a fan or a hater. A relative of mine just moved her, my cousin- her name is Tehra, she started at the school here. Don't know if you know her, but I'm just curious. Because I want her to be able to live safely here, and I didn't know if she would be with B.A.N.D. here and all." He smiled, deciding the lie would suffice for now. Once Tehra found out he was here, she could easily reaffirm it. He would be staying with her most likely, so it would all make sense.

User Image"Makes sense to me. B.A.N.D. is pretty worrisome," Lindsay sighed, "But with everyone here in Delmor who has some sort of ability, anyone not taken in by the riots should be able to stop them... It's insane as hell here but not all that unsafe unless you get into trouble. And I haven't met your cousin, but DUHS is small, so I'm bound to run into her sometime. Well, Damien, it was nice to meet you, but sadly, I have to go... I hope you don't mind your time on this crazy rock." It was true. Lindsay really did have to go. She hadn't decided on whether she should aimlessly look for what to do, just go home, or see if she could find somewhere secluded to work with electricity because it had been so long since she had used it and done more than accidentally shock herself, but lingering in the park after the end of this mostly-over conversation suddenly seemed like a bad idea.

Damien nodded. "Alright then. Thanks for your help, Lindsay. Maybe I'll see you around." He said with a polite smile as he turned to leave. The last bit of his statement was more for the sake of manners rather than true meaning, and he hoped that was obvious and did not come off as creepy. "Goodbye then." With that, Damien walked away, looking to investigate the town more.

User Image"I'm afraid I can't tell you any more... That is, I don't know anymore," Penelope stuttered slightly, afraid she might have given Alma the idea she knew more than she was telling. It was true, of course, but there was no need to give this girl reason to pry... "I mean, it's not like I'm hiding anything from you. Why would I? That would be silly!"

User Image Penelope's reaction had revealed more than she had obviously wished to, especially with the added on part. It was just as obvious she didn't want to tell Alma. With a groan, the goth covered her red eyes and shook her head.

"From your reaction, you know something but don't want to tell me," Alma began slowly, hoping against hope the girl wouldn't run, "It's alright if you don't tell me anymore, but just know I realize you know something. If you tell me, I'd promise to keep my mouth shut; I'm not an idiot that goes and blabs other people's thoughts, even if I barely know them..." Lowering her hand, she looked up at the girl, "I wouldn't want to cause any problems on anyone, because I'd hate if someone did so to me."

User Image"It's not that I don't trust you," Penelope said, turning a little red and looking away. "I barely know you. I mean, I've never really talked this much with a stranger..." The revelation was really more for her own benefit.

"It just isn't my secret to tell, you know?" Penelope tried to smile. "I wouldn't want to betray that trust."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 23, 2009 3:51 pm

User Image Alma smiled weakly. She could understand completely and knew it was pointless to try and get more from Penelope. Besides, the goth had stated that Penelope could tell her if she wanted to but didn't have to. That, and the blonde also had a secret, well, something she didn't fully understand either. With that weak smile, the goth turned her face to the fading sunlight above.

"It's ok," Alma began, "You don't need to tell me anymore. Just remember, I know you know something." Lowering her head to look around them, she made sure there was no one else around. There was no one within her vision, so she continued. And...." Her voice wavered and made her pause. "Please don't tell anyone, at all? Even if you don't tell them my name? Please?"

User Image"Of course not. If you won't tell anyone about me, I won't say a word about you." Penelope looked up at the trees and noticed the fading light in the sky. "I should get home, my mother thinks I'm at a friend's house." She looked into the park and smiled.

"I think all those unwanted guest have cleared out. Do you want to exchange phone numbers in case anything comes up?"
