PastMai was an interesting case. She had been turned over to the orphanage along with her brother’s soul stone only for Vanna to get adopted first. When Vanna started showing more masculine traits, his adopted family went back and got Mai’s soul stone. Mai watched as Vanna started to get shunned and she tended to get the better treatment. She knew there was something wrong and that her family was very feminine based. She realized quickly that was not the norm and tried to help Vanna as much as she could. Mai at the time didn’t know that Vanna was actually her real biological brother but she always felt closer to him as they shared very similar racial traits. When he started lashing out and becoming more mischievous, Mai would try to keep him from being caught.
Then their youngest sister ended up running away and Mai snuck along behind the search parties forcing them to take her with them. It was here that Mai saw Vanna open up and start to become more animated and freer in a sense. She tried to sabotage the search as best she could by disappearing herself and making it so that the search group had to split off to try to find her along with their younger sibling in hopes that that Vanna could be himself for just a little longer. It worked, unfortunately a bit too well. It hadn't been the smartest plan she ever came up with and as such she spent many hours standing in the wet cold weather with non sufficient protection. Predictably Mai came down really sick. In fact her immune system still hasn’t really recovered. However as they were busy taking care of Mai, Vanna used the distraction to convince his clan to send him to the Asphodel academy. The clan didn’t quite trust Vanna though and Mai was also sent to keep an eye on him.
Mai is happy at the new surroundings. She loves how Vanna seems more alive despite some hard patches he went through at the academy and she hopes that getting a new perspective on life will help her grow just as much to be some one that vanna is proud of. She’s also kind of curious and wants to one day take the test to see if she really is related to Vanna.
Presentthe academy is a pretty fun place. Vanna comes by at least a couple times a week and they're always out doing things. She does wish festival goers were a bit more meek and didn't throw things but she is glad to meet new people. Its nice that she gets along better with other Chimera.
Of course life is never just that easy and when Vanna graduated she realized there was going to be a big backlash with her clan since not only was Vanna not going back to the clan but he was now a Mafia boss. Its currently a huge mess and Mai is definitely feeling it. However she was surprised to see that some one else noticed. She had walked into one of her classrooms and noticed a gold lotus clip with a letter. Mai is actually pretty sure who her admirer is and she's going to go find Ren and thank him.
It was ren and the two have started hanging out more, they could almost be considered dating. Ren is also getting along with Vanna which is nice and the two of them dragged him off to the Haunted festival where they met Kingston. Kingston definitely is a character but Mai thinks he's pretty awesome.
Only like the rest of life things turned complicated. Infected attacked Asphodel and Mai was separated from the others. She spent the night making sure that Eilwen's little brother was safe. However during the night both Kingston, Vanna, and Eilwen were infected. She often visted them all in the hospital making sure they had support and knew they had love or friendship. Ren often joined her.
It was after they where all released that she ended up kissing Kingston. Kingston, not knowing she was dating Ren asked her out. Weirdly enough Ren said she should go on the date to figure out her feelings. The date just made her all the more confused. Even worse was her big brother found out about the date. Why does life hate her? Even weirder why is Ren so chill about this all?
