Danni's shoulders stiffened as Riser spoke. "A prototype." Her voice was clipped, annoyance just under the surface.
But...But if she did this now, that meant Ialo wouldn't have to push himself anymore. Right? He wouldn't have to use...whatever it was anymore, and there would be no more 'curse'.
"Curse...You're putting a curse on me?" She asked, and if she was right, she wondered how she could convince Riser to take the curse off Ialo, put it onto her. Protecting Ialo was the key, she reminded herself.
Nothing else mattered half as much as that single thing.

((For the record, while I do crack jokes about Danni and Ialo, this is a ship that will not be setting sail.))
Ophiuchus nodded, impressed once more with Lin's power. After a thousand years, he clearly must have forgotten what powerful beings they were. And Lin, with her humble yet driven nature - he had no doubts that she would become one of the greatest healers, at least in this era.
He placed his hand over Ialo's heart and it glowed with white magic, as Ophi scanned the Headmaster's body for any poison left.
He sat back, looked at Lin, and clapped. "Adolf, Cook, what do you think? I'd say this student could just surpass her teacher one day. Right Lin?"
In calling her out, he wasn't being malicious or sarcastic, merely lauding her abilities.

Adolf nodded rather slowly. "She shows great promise." He looked Lin over for a moment. She probably wouldn't be able to tell, but he was judging her magical core in that brief look. It was something that he had learned to do years ago, in the Medieval Ages, from some wizard who later gained fame but whose name he could never remember. It had been in Africa, anyways, so it was doubtful that anyone in present times knew of him.

Lin's pale cheeks flushed bright red in shyness and she smiled while tucking a strand of hair behind one of her pointed ears. Her voice was soft and shy as she spoke. She was not used to being the center of so much attention.
"Thank you, Professor Ophiuchus. It is good to know that my studies and hard work are proving well-spent right now. It is also very rewarding to help someone. I do not think that I will ever be able to surpass you, sir, but I enjoy the challenge."
She looked back up at her professor and there was a playful glint there. She enjoyed a challenge immensely, and to her, it seemed as if her professor had just presented one to her.
Lin heard someone else speak, and she turned to look at a man she did not know. She smiled politely and held out her hand. "Hello, sir. My name is Lin Yin and I am an exchange student from Bai Ching."

((Iiii'm assuming she's talking to Adolf. Heh.))
Adolf took her hand, nodding to her. "I am called Adolf." He gestured to Athena. "I am Athena's godfather. I have come to visit her." He did not say that he was thinking of staying more permanently. He would have to ask if there was a position open--perhaps teaching History. Having lived through much of it, he did not doubt that he could teach it well. Perhaps even more efficiently than the textbooks...

{{Yep! wink }}
Lin gasped softly and smiled. "You are Athena's godfather? What a pleasure it is to meet you, sir! I am Athena's roommate!"

He smiled briefly at her. She was very eager. He wondered if she had any idea what he was. Since she was an elf, he did not think that she would be as... excited if she knew. Then again, that was personal experience and a stereotype. It might not reign true. "The pleasure is all mine, young miss. I am sure you are a very good influence on my goddaughter." Not that he heard nearly often enough from her, so he wouldn't know.

Her smile lessened just slightly and she shrugged. "Actually, sir, I believe that it is Athena who has been a good influence on me."

((Tell you what Jun, if you can semi-competently argue religion with me than I'll retract what I said razz ))
"Yes, a prototype. He may still show great promise, but should that not occur, you shall pick up where he left off." He looked at her momentarily, as if questioning whether or not she was aware of their interaction moments before. "Putting? No. I've already planted that 'curse' deep within you. It's not a curse in your traditional sense of the word, there's simply no other word that can come any closer to what it truly is."

((He's half dragon, how much of a person was he to begin with?))
*edit* ((Im actually gonna be an a** and play this card; you split Ialo's self into 3 facets: human, curse, and dragon. Now, that means that a 2/3 majority of Ialo is in fact not a person.))

"Truly?" Adolf asked. It was obvious that this surprised him. "In what way?"
Adolf did not think that Athena could ever be much of a good influence--unless Lin somehow had bad grades, which he highly doubted, even from just this brief meeting.

Lin looked over at her sleeping roommate and smiled softly. "She has been a constant friend to me even when it was hard to be. She accepted me when hardly anyone else would and even when I did not accept her for who she was."
She turned to Adolf and smiled, somewhat sadly. "She helped to open up my mind and heart. She was a person that constantly reminded me through actions that all creatures who are born with dark magic inside of them are not necessarily bad themselves. They had no choice in the matter and can still be very kind people."
