All of the water familiars she had won she had sent to her dorm, she was scared they would get hurt if she carried them around. Plus she had to keep an eye on her new Vespercat. As she ate she wasn't paying attention to it though and when she realized she hadn't seen it in a while she started looking. After a few minutes of looking she found him under a table with another Vespercat!
She was about to say something when someone backed into her. Turning to see who it was she spotted Arden. She smiled over at him, while they weren't the best of friends she had seen him in class over the years and the two of them were on friendly terms. "Don't worry about it Arden. Having fun? I see you're doing well at the games."
She looked down at her Vespercat playing with the other one for a second and wondered who it belonged to or if it had just escaped from one of the booths. She turned her attention back to Arden though, she didn't want to be rude and she would figure out who the Vespercat belonged to later.
"Um..." That was a question for which Zalir had no prepared answer. The proto-answer that drifted just behind consciousness was that no one wanted to be around someone who was enthusing about something. Enthusiasts tended to damp other people's personalities, and make them feel as if their thoughts and opinions were not welcome. It was something that Zalir tried not to be, even as obsession consumed zem from within. Really, no one wanted to listen to a nerd rant about all of this. "Um, no reason, I guess? Just, um, well, never mind."
"Oh. That's a very interesting term." Zey put it away in zeir memory, to be remembered and possibly used at another time. But maybe not blindly... "Is it an insult?" zey asked. "What I mean is, is it a bad thing to call other people? Or is a personal thing, where some people are offended and other people are not?" Zey could see how it might be an insult to a Litch or a Fallen, though maybe a Demon would not be quite so offended by it. Zey did not comment on the soul imbuement thing. It had been explained to them in broad terms, such that they understood that everyone could imbue a stone, regardless of magical talent or race, and that all races' imbuements were compatible with all other races'. But they had also been told that it was something they would go into more detail about when they were juniors--freshlings didn't need to know about it, but juniors needed to be told about the responsibilities of raising a child before they were old enough to be able to make one.
"Maybe your luck has changed. We could try that game again?"

As Kobe sat by himself and ate his food, he watched the others around. He wondered if anyone else would join their pack or if it'd always be just the four of them. He'd seen very little other grimms around and found it unlikely the grimms he saw didnt have a pack already. The young grimm pouted a bit, setting his almost emptied plate aside. Maybe he should have dragged Keegan or Tobias with him to the party. Maybe it would have been more fun? He shook his head, reminding himself the whole reason why he decided to go alone. Ever since he was awakened from his stone, he'd been the shy, quiet grimm that couldn't.. no wouldn't even stick up for himself! He didn't realized just how bad that habit was till an older nightmare bullied him. He didn't stick up for himself; in fact, he was too naive to realize the other had planned to take him out the next day! Keegan defended him and got hurt. Kobe had no one to blame but himself. Had he just stuck up to the bully to begin with then Keegan wouldn't have gotten hurt.. and... maybe he wouldn't feel like such a burden! So today was all about him sucking it up and trying to be more brave!
Laurel wasted no time in tugging Arcadia over to the ring toss stand, his heart set on playing at least one game with her.
"I'll pay for a round for both of us, okay?" He said, pointing to the stand. "This is going to be so much fun!"

Vaden watched the Litch. It was obvious that they were very self contained and it seemed afraid to express any sort of interest in well...anything. That was kind of sad, why should their interests be any less important than someone else's? "Zalir, your interests aren't any less important than anyone else's. Even if you don't want to talk about clothes, or people you find attractive, or sports, or video games, doesn't mean that the things you do like aren't as interesting. Having an interest in science and magic is far more practical than an interest in the star player on one of the school's athletic teams. Don't be afraid to express your interests once in awhile. I'm sure there are lots of other students around who share your passions and would probably be happy to share their opinions with you." He nodded and smiled. He didn't know if his little speech would help Zalir, but it definitely couldn't hurt anything? He hoped not anyway.
Vaden shrugged, "I think it's a personal preference thing. Some people will get offended, others will shrug it off and not care at all. Honestly, though it's just a word. People get too worked up over simple things."
Vaden looked around. "Hmm...I think I'd rather try that." He indicated a stall in which darts were thrown at balloons. Despite his earlier performance with the disc, his hand eye coordination was not that bad so it was worth a shot.
He made his way over and picked up one of the darts. It was heavier than he expected but it was easy to compensate. He pulled back and threw it towards the balloons.
=================
The balloon popped with a satisfying sound. A piece of paper fluttered to the ground and the keeper of the booth picked it up and read it, showing it to Vaden.
"You get to pick from these." the Falle said brightly indicating the plushies on the shelf.
Vaden frowned a bit...he wasn't much for toys...but ah well, when in Asphodel. He selected out the purple vespercat plush and put it under his arm. "Give it a try, Zalir?"
Better get on with the celebration! Candy for sure knew she was late, but had decided to come anyway despite so. After all, she could still have some fun with the games right? There had to be a few still going strong games she could give a go on.
Heading over to one of the games that had caught her eye, she fixed her necklace and hair ties a bit before getting in line, chatting it up with some fellow nightmares to pass the time as she made her way through the line with them, eventually coming to her turn to play. Taking the ring she had been handed, she looked at the poles she had to get this ring to go on and tried to decide how much strength she should use to throw it. It wasn't long though before she tossed the ring, seeing if she was going to make it.
Seemed she did well with this game, managing to get a little bottle with the first ring. It was a rather nice one too, pink with a small string that was there to help her carry it around or possibly even wear it. However, she still had one more try with this game, taking a hold of the next ring as she prepared to throw this one as well. By now those she had been talking in line with had already left, a sigh of acceptance for them just leaving her escaping her lips before throwing the second ring.
Binhdi was taking a break from the fun and getting to know her new pets. The jelly seemed content enough to siphon away whatever tiny magic it could sense and floated about in it's jar with very little concern for anything else.
The cat on the other hand was a bundle of curious, purring energy. She seemed happy enough on Binhdi's shoulder, watched everything that moved. Occasionally, the imp would hear a soft, purring chuff noise as the cat nosed about in her hair or feel gentle paws kneading away at her neck and head.
"Proper little snugglebum, aren't ya?" she murmured, reaching a hand up to pet the cat. If she was going to stay here, she was gonna have to find some snacks and drinks. Not just for herself, but for the cat as well.
Vaden's response took Zalir completely by surprise. Zey could not help but stare at the Geist as he gave his impromptu speech. It was...a sentiment that zey had heard before, of course, but never addressed personally to zem. It was...incredible. Zalir took off zeir glasses--the world had turned fuzzy anyway--and hid the act of wiping away tears in the cleaning of zeir glasses on zeir sweater. "Thank you for that, Vaden," Zalir murmured. Zeir voice was neutral, but the smile zey gave him when zey looked back up again, glasses replaced on zeir face, was one of pure joy and gratitude. Zey had not realized it, but zey had needed to hear that for quite a long time now.
"I'll keep that in mind, about the word thing," zey added, mentally taking note--any word that could be described as "just a word" was a word to avoid. They always brought out the worst in other people.
Zalir followed Vaden and watched as he picked up the dart and threw it. Zey had never thrown a dart before--zey wasn't really looking forward to trying. But zey had brought Vaden into plenty of games, and Vaden had never complained. "Sure!" zey said, and picked up the dart. It was a lot heavier than it looked. This was a matter of aim, right? How did one aim with this thing? Like...this?
====
Evidently so. The balloon made a satisfying pop! sound and the Fallen picked up the paper to read it. They smiled at Zalir and showed zem the slip of paper. Zalir blinked. "R-really?"
"Of course!" the Fallen said. They pointed to the front of the booth. Closer inspection revealed it was a tank full of tiny aetherjellies with a board set on top on which the darts rested. "Which color would you like?"
Overcome, Zalir whispered, "O-orange?"
The Fallen nodded, and lifted the board to gently grab one of the fiery-colored aetherjellies. "Keep it away from enchanted items, like that necklace of yours," the Fallen said. "It'll eat that magic right up." They handed Zalir a plastic bag with the little jelly inside. "That way, it doesn't get lost," they added.
"Thank you!" Zalir whispered. Zey tucked the beautiful creature into zeir bag and smiled at Vaden. "Thank you!"

Vaden wasn't sure what to do as he watched Zalir busily clean their glasses. It was fairly obvious the Litch was trying to hide tears in the action, and Vaden decided that the best course of action was to act was to ignore it. No one wanted to lose face after all. He smiled back and nodded to the Litch completely ignoring the still watery look in their eyes. "You're very welcome, Zalir. My room is always open if you want to talk. You might get over my head, but you might just teach me a thing or two."
Vaden gave a non-committal shrug as the ended the discussion about the word and then watched as Zalir took their turn with the darts. "Congrats!" he crowed as his friend...well he hoped they were friends, hit not only the balloon, but managed to win a familiar.
Once Zalir had their new little fried Vaden leaned down just a bit to investigate the jelly. "Looks very healthy...color is good." he stood back up. "There's a pet store right off campus if you want to go later and pick up some things for it. I buy all Charo's things there." he smiled again. "And you're welcome."
He then looked around the room, they were about half way through the booths discounting the ones in the cernter-ish of the room. "How bout we just go over there?" he said indicating a booth behind them. It looked like a simple pick a number out of a hat, get a prize set up.
He walked over and put his hand it and drew out a slip of paper.
============
He withdrew his hand and pulled out...a "one." Vaden was silent for a moment and then sighed. "Looks like I'm back where I started." he said showing Zalir and laughing a bit.
Ash decided to return to the booth she'd won her glowing necklace from, this time determined to obtain one for Chi as well. After all, it was nice to dress up in matching accessories to show everyone how close they were!
This time around, she spent even longer on choosing her cards, but in the end it paid off. Beaming, she picked out a necklace to gift to her 'sister' once she found her, before heading back towards the back of the hall, to find a spot to rest her eyes from all the light once more.
Kobe stretched and got up, wanting to try his luck on some of the games again. He had won one prize already but he wanted to give it to a friend of his... more like a brother. He still had two more prizes to win if he wanted to be able to give his family all gifts. So the little grimm climbed onto a chair and asked if he could play the game. He waited his turn patiently before picking up the ball and tossing it. He had one bottle left after that... And missed with the next ball!!! He bit his lower lip as if to focus then throw the ball..... Hitting the last bottle!
The grimm freshling hopped up and down on the chair before selecting his prize! "Keekee will love this!" He announced happily as he moved to put his prize in his bag with Tobias's. Now he just had to win one for his twin! Feeling good about himself, he looked for another game... considering just staying at this one since he'd won twice already.

He tucked his stuffed toy beside his familiar in his arm, the Vespercat immediately chewing on the ear. The Chimera tilted his head the slightest. "Apparently the Vespercat is a popular prize," Arden chuckled, noticing the two under the table before Sorren's attention returned.
He nodded some though, stepping a bit closer as to not make a roadblock in the moving crowd. "Can't say I've played much, this is all I got," Arden informed, scritching behind his familiar's ears. "Sort of wandered in late I guess."

She laughed. "I didn't realize it was until now." she looked around and noticed that there were many students with the cats. "I won one of them, though I'm not sure where the second one came from." she confessed. "Though I guess now mine has a friend, unless someone ends up claiming it." She didn't want to steal someones minipet, but she wouldn't mind an extra one for her daughter.
"Well if you aren't hungry anymore maybe we could go play some of the games? If you came late you will still have some luck left over, maybe some to lend to me." she teased.
