Between the tiny, curious cat and the equally curious jelly, Binhdi was beginning to wonder if someone had decided to curse her with interesting times. But that was a silly, idle thought and she quickly dismissed it. Turning her head slightly to rub her cheek against the side of the cat perched upon her shoulder, she stopped at a new table.
One without pets as prizes. She was fairly certain that she'd won more than enough of those for the moment.
Fortunately, this was a simple shell game. Watching carefully as the nightmare running it moved cups around with blinding speed, Binhdi quickly lost track of which cup the pebble was hidden under. When it was time to guess, she closed her eyes and pointed blindly. A chuckled, "Congratulations, my dear!" caused her eyes to fly open. There was the pebble. And a small basket full of cute trinkets was offered for her to choose a prize from. Selecting a glow necklace, she smiled, thanked the other nightmare and after tucking the trinket into a pocket, continued on her way.

It took a long while for him to complete his circuit, but he finally found a booth with a prize to draw him out. He looked at the table, the cages of familiars behind them. The game looked complicated and Arden figured he needed a good amount of luck, but they were calling out to him. He always loved his friend's companions - why didn't he have one of his own yet?
Grabbing the dice, he tossed them three times in succession as instructed. Not really getting the scoring, he waited on the results with wide eyes. The familiar turned, pointing to the cages. He had to keep from jumping with excitement, clenching his fists slightly. "The cat please," he grinned, stretching out his arms to accept his new familiar.
Zalir nodded. "Sometimes the older Geists would call the younger ones together for a meeting to teach them how to control themselves, and the Chimeras, too. But yeah, um, no real magic until junior year." Thinking about that sent a rush of excitement up zeir heart and into zeir head and tongue. "That's actually something I'm really excited about junior year--this year, we get to start learning magic, and I've been looking forward to that for a really longtime, now." Zeir voice was picking up in excitement, speeding up and growing just a tiny bit louder--Zalir loved the subject, and didn't get much opportunity to talk about something zey was excited about. The excitement soon faded and was replaced by embarrassment. "So yeah, um, you're right, not until this year. But, um...yeah."
Zalir turned back and peered at the jar. "Rigged?" Zey hadn't thought about that before! "I guess so. S-sorry, I thought it would be simple!" Zey looked around desperately for the next game. "Um, how about that one?" Zey pointed to a table on which a variety of small paper-mache sculptures in the shape of flitterrats sat. What kind of game it was, zey had no idea, but the purpose behind the sculptures aroused zeir curiosity. Zalir walked over to the table and peered at the sculptures. There were thirty of them, arranged haphazardly around the table.
"There are ten different markings on these flitterrats," the Demon behind the table said. He pointed to a sign behind him that showed the ten different markings--stars, suns, triangles, as well as numbers, ranging from two to five. "Pick two flitterrats. If they have the same marking, you win a prize! If they're one of the rare ones, you win a special prize."
So it was another game of chance. Zalir shrugged. "Okay..." Zey reached out towards one of the rats at random.
===
The first flitterrat Zalir picked up had a square on the bottom. That was one of the more common markings. Zey frowned, hand hovering over the table, before selecting one at random. Hand shaking, zey flipped it upside down to reveal...another square. Zey showed the rats to the Demon, who nodded. "Congratulations, young Litch!" He smiled and offered Zalir a box full of small triinkets. Zalir picked the bag of brightly colored candy. "And you, young sir?" he said to Vaden.

Vaden was a little surprised by the sudden burst of enthusiasm from his companion. It was a nice surprise though. While he didn't mind Litches in general, it was just...strange when you couldn't invoke some sort of strong response from them. He knew it was just the nature of their race and culture, but it was still unsettling at times. "It's fine! It's nice to see you get excited about something." he said with a nod. "I wish you the best of luck with it." he reached up and tapped the side of his head. "I am for the most part, head blind." he chuckled at his self derision.
He shrugged. "I could be completely wrong and there was just something I didn't account for, but it's also possible that while an Imp is minding the table, a Geist set up the jar. It's the kind of challenge I would have been presented with at home. A lesson in things not always being what they seem, and that nothing is ever as simple as it looks." he considered and then put a hand on the other's shoulder. "Don't worry, Zalir. I thought it was simple too." he have a small reassuring squeeze then returned his hand to behind is back.
As they approached the table with the flitterat statues, Vaden's interest perked a bit. He liked flitterats, maybe that love would be of aid? But no a game with rather horrible odds of him winning anything again. At least Zalir had gotten lucky.
"Yes, I'll try." he said when the Demon asked.
===================
Vaden considered and then picked up one of the rats. On the bottom was a circle. Okay, now where to find a match. Would it do any good to try and quadrant the table? Hard to say...they weren't exactly arranged neatly so it seemed blind luck was the only option.
Vaden closed his eyes and picked one at random. When he opened them he found he'd actually somehow...got a match. "Umm..." maybe liking flitterats had paid off?
He looked over the prizes he was eligible for and selected what seemed to be a very plain looking bottle on a string. Well, plain until he shook it and it lit up with little glowing stars. Ah, it was charmed or enchanted, that made more sense. He wondered why any one would want a bottle on a string otherwise.
"Maybe my luck has changed?" he asked looking over at Zalir.
Jezebeth supposed Cassie might have a bit of a point. She was rarely sitting still, unless in the library. She actually spent a majority of her times roaming around outdoors and poking everything and anything she came into contact with that didn't look poisonous or like it would eat her. She listened carefully as Cassie gave some advice on familiar care. She would certainly have to talk to some of the caretakers around the dorm.
"Thanks Cassie!" She smiled and wiggled her way into yet another line, this game involved aiming a little water gun and knocking down small, flimsy, targets. Try as she might she could only knock one down, but it still earned her yet another necklace to place around her neck. She basically jingled as she walked around now.
Pan da Moor
Likely the last thing I will claim for Jezebeth. I sooo wanted her to get all of the necklaces. > w>~
Laurel paused and took a look around. What games hadn't he played yet? He'd knocked down the bottles and played spin the wheel twice... Where would he go with Arcadia? Hmm...
"Oh! Oh! I know!" He said, squeezing Arcadia's hand. "Wanna play ring toss? I haven't played that yet!"

Figured it was okay if I had him pick a game. o uo
Too many plushies? Nonsense. 8U
My point tally so far: 120 points (37 + 12 + 15 + 13 + 8 + 2 + 14 + 1 + 18 = 120)

She should have stopped. Every time before she stopped after winning one of the smaller things. It was a pattern she should have continued. For the next few times she did worse then ever at the game. Finally giving up Sorren collected all the prizes that she had and headed over towards the food. All the playing she did had worked up an appetite. All the food looked so good that it was hard for her to decide which to eat. Instead she got a little of everything, happily munching on it all. She still wanted to play games, but that could wait.
Zalir blushed again. Zey couldn't remember the last time someone had seen zem excited. Come to think of it, zey couldn't remember the last time zey had acted as excited as they actually were. It just...didn't suit zeir personality. "Oh, um. I'm, um, glad I didn't...weird you out or anything?" That part made a bit of sense, even if zey'd never imagined somebody finding it nice to see zeir enthusiasm. The next part didn't make a lot of sense. "What do you mean by head blind? Is it a Geist magic thing?" Zey couldn't remember hearing the phrase before in classes on Geist culture, so that seemed unlikely.
"Maybe a Geist was attending the table earlier. Or she's the daughter of a Geist. Or the mother of one." Zey wanted to ask what Vaden meant by a challenge given at home. Maybe schooling was different for Geists in Zephyros. Or in Zephyros in general.
While Vaden picked his flitterrats, Zalir opened the bag of candy and popped one in zeir mouth. What met zeir tongue was a tart, but full-bodied taste that spread to the entirety of zeir mouth. It was like a piece of nearly-ripe fruit. It was delicious. "Looks like it has," zey said, pushing the candy into zeir cheek. "That's a very pretty glow-bottle there."

"Why would you have weirded me out?" he was actually confused by the notion that he should find anyone's behavior odd around here. These individuals for the most part were taught the basics of their cultures, but from then on left on their own on how they should feel about them. Just looking around the room he could see those who openly embraced their heritage, those who embraced aspects of it, and then the ones who utterly rejected it, and that was...that was okay in his opinion. If they'd been raised in their home territories it would be different, but they weren't at home, and it seemed the staff was doing the best they could with the resources they had.
As they walked he'd been lost in his thoughts and had nearly missed the Litch's second question. "Hmm? No, it's just a term I've heard for those who lack any aptitude for magic, outside of the very passive abilities, like activating a pre-packaged spell or imbuing Soul Stones." should he have mentioned the last one? He wasn't sure if that sort of talk was eschewed at the Academy. Stone imbuing could be a very personal and delicate topic after all.
He shrugged a bit. "Anything is possible really."
"Bout time right?" he chuckled a bit and once sure the bottle was secure in his pocket nodded to his companion. "Thank you."
Kobe shrugged as the other games were a bit full for the time being. He rubbed his belly, deciding more food would be good. As he walked to the food area, he wondered what his packmates were up to. Crispin had been doing his own thing for a while and Kobe only seemed to really see him when it was bedtime. Sighing softly, he put some food on a plate then found a place to sit quietly and eat. Him and Keegan had sorta gotten close.. he was a good big brother and he couldn't wait to see how happy he would be when... if.. he gave him a gift!

“You know speaking of significant others, I wonder if Morin and yue got trampled in the crowd” Lerin mused walking down the booths. There were just too many interesting games and the necklaces where adorable… she just had to be careful because losing was a pet peeve of hers. Then again it wasn’t as if Nasai was any better. Luckily the next booth was a concentration game which Lerin aced no problem. Now the shiny necklace was hers.
“Well there were a lot of people. My guess there was a long line or something or Meris decided to surprise me with something or other. Good thing we aren’t terribly hungry.” Of course her stomach growled to show just how true that statement was.
Clutching the prizes she'd already won, Zahneel decided that it was time for a short break. Searching out a relatively quiet spot, she got a cup of water and sat, sighing happily. As she sipped at her drink, she indulged herself in the sport of nightmare watching. It was interesting enough to keep her occupied while she rested and she made sure to not stare.
And once she drink was gone, she stretched out and waded back into the crowd. There were still so many things she wanted to do!

With his new Vespercat friend in his arms, Arden drifted about the event. Feeling the hype of his win, he played another game quick that involved pulling a straw with his free hand. It was simple and gratifying, and he walked away with a plushie under his other arm. He felt kind of silly having picked the stuffed toy, but hey. It was pretty soft.
Moving to hold his familiar better, he headed towards one of the main gathering areas where there wasn't many booths but instead a few tables for food. He lifted his chin as he rolled onto his toes, trying to see over the crowd for his snack options. As he came down, he backed into a Nightmare and instantly turned to apologize. "Sorry," he offered hurriedly, but with a blink he realized he actually knew the Geist he had stepped on. "Sorren, sorry." They weren't exactly close friends, but he had seen her in his classes plenty, especially as they were both Seniors. He smiled kindly, adjusting his grip on the bundle in his arms. His Vespercat meowed.

Cassie nodded, eyes bright. "Anytime cupcake," she informed with a grin. She sort of enjoyed being able to help the young Nightmares, and they were usually grateful for her input. She fell in line behind Jezebeth again, the game up ahead looking like some fun. The Fallen watched as her small companion won another trinket, and upon taking her turn, Cassie failed miserably. She really wasn't one for aiming. Pushing her now wet sleeves up, she tailed after the Freshling yet.
"What's left for you to win?" she teased softly, partly curious. Her own pocket wasn't too heavy, other than the plush on her arm. "Maybe we can find just the booths you need."
