Keep an eye on this post for current news and events! Any drastic changes or announcements will be posted here also.

N e w s

  • September 19, 2009 . If you have any pets, colored by Kao, that you requested fruitification on, please visit [this link] as soon as possible!
  • June 23, 2009 . [Happy 4th Birthday, Pride Lands!]
  • May 19, 2009 . Just so people are on the same page with Kao growths, this is what's happening:
    - Breeding growths will be first. I am going to go completely down the folder list (which I think is alphabetical according to my computer) and grow every single lion throughout ALL of their stages. Then all of my current breedings will be done.
    - Flatsale growths will come next. I will do the same as the breeding growths; color all of their stages.
    - Then the miscellaneous growths (cubs won from games or events). Also the same process as the breeding growths.
    - After growings are complete, I will move to the fruits and semi customs/game customs that I owe.
    - Lastly, I will cert/re-cert everything that I can find that hasn't been certed/re-certed yet.
Once all of my growings are complete, I will be able to open up some breeding and custom slots. However, this depends on when I get this finished. If I finish a month or so before Pride Lands' anniversary, I'll just save the slots until then.
As I do the growings, I will gradually be changing my shading templates to my more improved way of doing it. From this point on, all growings posted (unless I already had it colored) will be done on new templates. Sorry for my slowness DX
  • May 14, 2009 . A new title banner and look for the first post of Pride Lands has been created! Hopefully the sexy fire lines will attract some newcomers into our lovey home :3 I would like to state that I (Kao) did -not- create the image inside of the banner, it's creator has been rightfully credited under our staff and credit section.
For those of you who read the news, keep in mind that Odet has some breeding plotting going on in her Breeding Den! Be sure to check it out and enter a couple or two if you wish.
  • April 18, 2009 . Yay for news! I'm going to try and utilize this post more often because I think it's fun XD. Anyway, getting to the point of this announcement - the winners for the Title Banner and Story contest have finally been chosen. While it didn't quite turn out the way most people probably expected it to, we had some awesome entries for both events. With the story contest, I plan to bring back the original Pride Lands story (done by teh awesome Kami), but tie the winning entries into it somehow; kind of like an extension. My reasoning for keeping the original story is the fact that it explained humans on the lands, which some people use in their plots with lions. More on how the stories will combine has been explained in the thread and will be revealed as soon as we can!
On another note, Kao has finally finished her To-do thread in the Suggestions and To-do subforum! If I owe you anything at all or you have PL pets colored by me, please drop by and read the latest post (on page 6). I really want to make sure I'm on top of things so I can finally open up some more breeding and custom slots! Questions/reminders/requests regarding anything about Pride Lands that I should do, feel free to mention those as well!
And last, but certainly not least, I would like everyone to give a round of applause to Moonlit Monkey for creating and running our re-homing event! It went VERY smoothly and Pride Lands now has some wonderful and dedicated people joining in on the role play/action! Monkey has been put on our whitelist and will receive a little something from the staff for all of her efforts. Thank you, Monkey!! <3
  • April 1, 2009 . Happy April Fools day Pride Lands! I hope you guys didn't get pranked too bad and I also hope you enjoyed our last minute hacking of the front page, done by the one and only Scribble XD
  • March 7, 2009 . The Pride Lands Relocation Event is a go! Props to Moonlit Monkey for having thought of such a nice idea and hosting it! If you have under 25 pets, drop by and, who knows, come back with a new friend in tow! If more, come in and drop a line as well!
  • February 27, 2009 . A new thread was created for co-owning agreements! If you feel you would like to contribute to this thread, please feel free to check it out!
  • February 09, 2009 . Regarding a new guild for prides, please visit this thread to read and take our survey! We need as much input as possible :3
  • February 01, 2009 . Check page '87 for an update on the shop! We've got some new features coming to Pride Lands very soon that we hope you'll enjoy. So keep an eye out!
  • Janurary 8, 2009 . So we're kicking off a new year in Pride Lands with hopefully a lot of catching up and some new events on the way. Kaoru has been gradually making changes to the guild and discussing new features with the rest of the staff. Prides will be coming back as soon as possible and hyenas/cheetahs are almost complete! Also, if you haven't noticed, there's a new subforum in the guild called "Suggestions and To-dos." Check it out as soon as you can! I'm hoping it becomes a lot easier on you guys, the regulars/customers, to make sure you have everything you need and all of your lions/pets are up-to-date. Hope you all had a happy new year!
  • October 19, 2008: To all hyena alpha owners - you may start setting up the front page of your clan thread. The thread has already been made so all you have to do is set the rest up. To other people of Pride Lands - there is no posting yet! f you post, you'll get a warning!
  • October 15, 2008: If you haven't been around Pride Lands, be sure to read the big announcement on page 8611! Also, the Halloween event is now open!
  • September 24, 2008: Have a mated pair? Be sure to check out the Forever Love for more information!
  • August 19, 2008: Kaoru and DHS's Olympic Mini Event! Check it out!

Okay folks, no one may like these, but they are necessary. Read them, live by them, FEAR them! We aren't wussies, if you break one, we will take action. After all, this is the Pride Lands, full of lions willing to protect their home!

Below you will find rules for not only the main thread, but for breedings, customs, and role playing. Although they have been placed here for clarification, each colorists has their own set of rules for customs and breedings in their den. So be sure to read those over as well!

M a i n .. T h r e a d .. R u l e s
  • Read the whole first/second page! Although it's perfectly acceptable to ask questions, a question you have may already be answered somewhere in the first/second page.
  • Do not beg for a pet! Actions such as this will only lower your chances of ever being able to obtain a Pride Lands pet.
  • NO stealing of any of the artwork (this includes banners, graphics, etc.) what-so-ever! Our lineartist worked extremely hard to make all of these lines for Pride Lands only!
  • You may NOT sell your pets/offspring! You may either give them away to others or keep them.
  • Check the drama at the door, no one wants that kind of stuff here
  • If you can't say anything nice, don't say it at all.
  • If there is someone bothering you for whatever reason, there are two ways to resolve the issue without causing havoc in the thread. Private message the person, or ignore them. These are two, very simple solutions that take little time. There is no need to lash out at someone in front of other people because that just creates drama.
  • If there happens to be some argumentation within the thread, do not jump in! This just makes things worse, even if you're trying to help. Best thing to do is carry on conversations and role playing.
  • Be respectful towards each other. New or old, it doesn't make you any better than someone else, nor does it exempt you from any of these rules.
  • Don't assume, it just makes an a** out of u and me
  • Do not harass the colorists or managers for any reason! If you have a question for one of them, message them politely.
  • The staff's word is law and must be followed.
  • Real-life commissions have not been put into effect. Please do not ask about this, we will notify the shop if it ever happens.
  • When an event pops up, read the rules, they should answer most of your questions.
  • Gods & Goddesses are available only through a special event.

• • • •

R o l e .. P l a y i n g .. R u l e s
  • Role playing is encouraged, but not required. However, for faster growths and a higher chance at participating in certain events, role playing will ensure that to you.
  • Use whatever tense you feel comfortable with when role playing.
  • It is recommended that you use a color for the pets you are role playing with. This prevents confusion if role playing with more than one lion at a time.
  • If you're doing an open RP within the main thread, please, let others join in! Let's not leave anyone out.
  • Role playing in another language is allowed as long as the other person(s) are able to speak the language also.
  • Lions that you make for the coloring thread or for commissions/fan-art may NOT be role played! This is a bannable offense!
  • Non-cosplay lions cannot be role played like a cosplay. This is unfair to those wishing to obtain cosplays/those who have paid a good amount for a cosplay.
  • No god-modding or role playing of another person's pet unless they say otherwise!
  • Do not ask someone if you can co-own their pet. They will come to you if co-owning is something they're considering.
  • Role playing pets from different shops is off-limits! People come here to role play Pride Lands' pets and to possibly get away from other shops. The last thing they want to see are pets being role played from the shops they're trying to avoid.
  • Be sure to discuss personalities, rights, and rules of your pets to other people you role play with. If your lion is mated to another lion and you've compromised on them staying together permanently, keep it that way!
  • Respect your role playing partners and their feelings.

• • • •

C u s t o m .. R u l e s
  • Pride Lands no longer accepts bribes! Please do not ask us about custom bribes, it will be an automatic "no."
  • Every colorist has their own set of rules within their journals, so be sure to read their rules as well as these.
  • Listen to what the colorist has to say. It may be a question or concern that's needed to be heard.
  • Pestering a colorist about a pending custom is not recommended. While some colorists are more tolerant than others, it is still very stressful when people are constantly harassing them. On top of Gaia tasks, they have real-life situations that always come before the internet. So please, be patient.
  • Do not bug colorists about opening slots. They will open them on their own time, not yours.
  • Unless stated otherwise by colorist, haggling about price is unacceptable. Some colorists charge for their edits while some do not. Whatever the case may be, you must respect their decisions.
  • If there is something you're not happy with about the final result of your custom, question the colorist in a polite manner!
  • Most slots are first-come, first-serve. This usually works like a flatsale, where a "GO!" post will be made and requests follow.
  • You must send your custom trade after you have been confirmed your slot. Keep in mind that not all of the colorists will accept them right away, however.
  • More details about customs can be found in the guild

We can't forget about all of your questions, now can we? Never fear, we'll keep them right here where all can read. Maybe it'll even hold a question YOU had!

F r e q u e n t l y .. A s k e d .. Q u e s t i o n s
  • Can I have one for free?!
    • Well that's an easy answer, NO! The colorists work hard on these lions, they should get something for their work!

  • When is my lion gonna grow? It's been AGES!
    • As harsh as this sounds, your lion will grow when it grows. All the colorists have lives outside of Gaia (believe it or not). So it may take awhile for them to grow. If you'd rather them skip a stage (or 2), you may inform the colorist in their journal, found in the guild.

  • Can they breed?
    • Yes! Of course :3

  • Are they role played required?
    • As said in the rules, pets from this shop are not role play required, but it is encouraged for faster growths and whatnot.

  • Wow! I love the lines! Who drew them?
    • I'm glad you like them! The amazing Revanash, now known as Micro, drew them!

  • There sure are a lot of lion species, what's the difference between each one?
    • If you continue reading the front page, you'll find a section about the lions as well as the different types.

  • Can I be a guest colorist?
    • Although we'd prefer it if you didn't ask, a friendly PM to the mule during an event would be acceptable. Just keep in mind that if you haven't been in the shop for a while, your chances of coloring are slim. It's nothing against you or your coloring capabilities, we just rather give regulars a chance seeing as how they've been here for so long.

  • Hey, can I get a custom by <insert colorist name>?
    • If in their journal they're taking customs, then yes. If you don't see that they are, or it's not announced anywhere, DON'T ASK. They'll make it publicly known if there are slots going to be open. Usually they will give a warning before hand so you can save up money.

  • Oh! What about breedings!?
    • Again, if it's not publicly announced, don't ask! They're busy little bees, remember that.

  • Whoa, wait just a minute! When did <insert colorist name> get that lion?!
    • If the owner says it's okay for a colorist to color themselves a lion, don't complain! They all work diligently and should receive a little something for free.

  • Are we allowed to have gods/goddesses for a custom price?
    • Simply, the answer is no. They will be available only through special events (IE: auctions, RP events, etc.). And if you DO get a god/goddess, you must be active - whether by just hanging out with us here, or role playing. All we ask is no god-moding, even if they are a god/goddess.

  • Okay, well, what about deities? And elementals? Can our customs become something like that?
    • You cannot obtain a God through customs, only through special events.

  • More will be added as asked!

The story of the lands, of which the lions call home. Of how the hyenas came onto the lands, and of the current state of things...

Story
The tall savanna grasses waved in a memorizing way as a warm, dry desert wind swept over the Pride Lands. The gnarled trees that managed to survive there swayed their branches, a few dry leaves shaking off. The sky was a clear, clean blue, with a few puffy white clouds strewn about haphazardly. The few, shallow streams that ran through the lion’s territory sat idly, allowing the fish that lived in them to feed along the bottom, silvery scales attracting the sun’s bright glow. Small wildlife, a few hares, a prairie dog or two, scurried about, keeping low for fear of being seen by the ultimate predator of the African savanna.

The Lion.

Here, the lions ruled. No humans dared to set foot upon this patch of wilderness. Why just right here? The lions that resided here were not the average lion, like the one in your science book. These lions were many a color, red, blue, green. They also had patterns unlike any other. Curses, the villagers gossiped. Powers from the Gods, others murmured reverently. The truth about the markings though, was this.

The continent of Africa is relatively dry, as you should know. As people began to settle along the Nile, which seemed to be just about the only water source on the entire landmass, the natives, lions, giraffes, zebras and the like, were pushed down, farther away from the water. Now, the zebras were a humble race then, and they decided to co-exist with the humans, agreeing to do hard labor in exchange for water and other necessities. The giraffes, with their long legs, were able to travel great distances down the river, where no humans had yet settled.

That left the lion.

Now, the lion is a proud race, too proud to work for the humans, but were not built for the kind of travel they would have had to undertake to follow the giraffes. So, the race had to humble them selves and follow in the zebra’s direction… toward the humans. The reaction they got was unexpected.

Now, the humans were not stupid, and they had talked to the zebras about what else they had chased out. The zebras, oblivious of the trouble it could cause toward their friends, told the humans about lions. About how swift and powerful they were. About their long, sharp fangs and claws. About how smart they were. The humans, obviously, grew worried. They held a meeting to see what they should do.

“I have heard.”

The chieftain of the human tribe spoke, his gravelly voice vibrating the walls of the hut in which they met.

“I have heard from the scouts that they have seen the lions traveling this way. They say that the lions have a look of revenge about them!”

The chieftain exclaimed, although the scouts had not told him the last part. He had made that up himself, for he did not want the villagers to know that the lions came in peace, not in hatred. He didn’t want the lions to be liked, for fear of being overthrown by a powerful male. He certainly didn’t want a beast to rule the human tribe. He was jealous of the lions, for he was sure that they were more agile than him, more cunning, braver, better. So, to protect his position, he had to lie.

“The lions want to kill us all, eat us raw!”

He exclaimed, exaggerating an entire story about how menacing they appeared, even though he had no idea what the looked like at all. The tribe of humans wailed and moaned, begging their “all-powerful” leader to give them instruction on how to defeat the beasts.

“Kill them! Chase them away from the river! The zebras said that the lion’s stamina was not up to a long trek down the Nile, away from the settlement. All we must do is keep them away!”

He boomed, rousing the crowd of nervous tribe members, boosting their adrenaline. The men clung to their weapons, the woman to their children. A scout raced off with the speed of a cheetah to see where how close the lions were. He didn’t have to look long.

“They are here! The lions!!”

He cried, much to the villager’s fright, but the lion’s approval. It was only befitting that a creature of their grace and beauty was announced for all to hear. The zebras, who had heard what the chieftain had said, went crazy, whinnying and rearing, in a blind rage toward man and a fear for the lions. The lions, though, thought that the zebras were calling for them, as if being hurt by humans. The lions rushed forth, angry at the humans for hurting their friends. The armed tribe members greeted them with curses and hatred, swinging everything they could find toward the lions. The lions, confused, looked toward the zebras, who were unhurt. Now, it was the lions turn to be tricked. They thought that the zebras had worked with the humans to lure them here, straight into a trap. The lions attacked the zebras, and the zebras attacked the men, and the men attacked the lions. The lions drove the zebras out, and the humans drove the lions out in the opposite direction.

The zebras were frightened and surprised at the lions attack upon them. Why did they do that? The zebras raced off, away from the humans and the lions, down in the direction of the giraffes. At least they were still friendly

The lions, on the other hand, didnt have it so easy. The humans were still after them, with their smug chieftain standing proudly upon the hill that his tribe lived on. The lions would never be welcome here, much to his delight

The lions, as much as they didnt like it, had to flee off into the desert. When the humans were finally out of sight, they stopped running and looked around.

Where are we?

Are we lost?

Where's water?

The clan began to panic, pacing and snarling. All too soon they were on top of each other, snarling and clawing. One female, a petite ebony adult, remained calm.

"Everyone! Please! You are acting like a bunch of kits, panicking at everything. Look around you. Look where we are!"

As she spoke, the clan noticed their unfamiliar surroundings. It was like a rainforest, in the middle of the desert. A pond, which was fed with a small run off from the Nile, sat in the center of a circle of palm like trees. The foliage was thick and green, with plenty of small game which had come to drink. On the outside of the circle, there were many burrows in the ground, nice, cool, large burrows in which the lions could retreat after a hard day. It was the perfect place for the clan.

But, when they murmured and nodded to each other in approval, they noticed something odd. Each lion was sporting odd markings and colors on their pelts. They arent sure why, but they believe that it was the change in surroundings. In the circle of trees, their private oasis, there were strange, beautiful flowers that blossomed around the edge of the pond. The flowers were vibrant in color and design, and many of the odd patterns are seen on a lions coat to this day. They say that when a lion passes on, the flower that held its coat pattern shrivels and dies.

Odd, isnt it?

Normal lions are the most common species of lion in Pride Lands. They have no specific attributes and no abnormalities except for the feathers on their tails and the flakes on their ears. There's the occasional missing limb, deformity, or handicap, but for the most part, they're just fine. These lions come in a variety of colors, patterns, clothing, and each has his/her own personality. They are very social creatures, usually seeking affection and companionship from other family members and/or friends. They tend to get along with all the different species of lion, holding no grudges or hateful feelings towards them.

Normal lions can be found in all sorts of regions of Pride Lands, but like to hang out within the grassy fields and plains. This area provides trees for shade, rocks for shelter, and small watering holes scattered around. An adventurous lion, however, may travel into the other parts of the lands to explore.

Angelic lions are a rare type of lion here in Pride Lands. They have large, bird-like wings that can carry them through the air with ease. Although angelic lions will have their wings from cubhood, it's only in their adult stage that they can use them to their full potential. As cubs and teens, they can only fly short distances. They have three, wide tail feathers that float atop their tail, enabling the angelic lions to use them like rudders while flying in the air. The feathers can turn in every direction and even help to slow them down for a landing. Their flakes are wavy and longer than those of the common lions, allowing them to be more aerodynamic.

Like the normal lions, they can be found in all sorts of colors and patterns. Angelics usually hold a sweet and wise personality, preferring to observe their surroundings instead of getting involved. They, too, seek comfort and affection from others of their kind.

Because of the high winds and cooler temperatures, angelic lions prefer the mountainous areas over every other region of Pride Lands. Within the mountains, they can look over their world like protectors, guardian angels.

A fearsome type of lion that are very uncommon within the lands. They have bat-like wings that allow them to fly, but only at lower heights. Because their wings aren't as big as the angelics, demonic lions cannot travel long distances without taking breaks in between. Their wings are rather stubby as cubs and teens, only letting them float and glide rather than fly. They have a single pointed feather on the end of their tail, used in fighting and even hunting within the air. Their flakes are zig-zagged and sharp, serving no other purpose except for what they're normally for.

They are found in all different patterns and colors, preferring darker shades over light. Demonic lions are very independent creatures, seldom looking for friendships and/or family. In fact, a lot of the demonics are rather mean and aggressive, but it's not always the case.

These lions can be found deep within the forests of Pride Lands, hiding within its dense brush and shadows.

Solar lions are another uncommonly found lion within Pride Lands. They carry a large, four feathered tail resembling that of the sun. Though it's not used for anything specific, it gives them their "solar" name. Their flakes are long and float above their ears, acting as extended whiskers to temperature change, wind, and surroundings. Although they cannot use them for flying, Solars also have small wings floating against their hind ankles. Because these lions are extremely fast runners, the wings act as rudders and boosters for when they're in motion.

Like the other lions, Solars come in various colors, patterns, and designs. They tend to have a very mysterious and calm nature about them, appearing only when needed and keeping to themselves. Despite their independence, Solars do seek affection and companionship, but they keep their relationships small in numbers. Too many friends can sometimes be overwhelming for some Solar lions.

These lions are often found within the meadows, lounging in the tall grass and basking in the warm sun.

Lunar lions are a very rare species of lion in Pride Lands. Because the temperature drops at night, they have an extra long fur coat to help keep them warm. Their flakes and single tail feather are shaped like the crescent moon, curving in like the ocean's coast. Because they hunt mostly at night, their ears are long and wider than most other species of Pride Lands, giving them better hearing abilities.

They come in all sorts of colors and patterns, just like everyone else. Lunars are usually seen with a curious personality, known for their intelligence and head-strong opinions. They seem to get along better with other lions outside their species rather than their own. They keep their companionships small in numbers, often seen either singly or in pairs.

Lunar lions are found in a remote area of Pride Lands, the coast. With it's beautiful ocean that goes on for hundreds of miles, soft and sandy beaches, and lush grasses, it's the prefect place for the Lunars. The moon controls the tide, which is what these lions use as a guide in life. Lunar lions will often swim under the moonlight, occasionally joining the Water lions for a friendly gathering.

Water lions are a female specific breed, with the most unique attributes among all of the species. These lionesses have a large dorsal fin atop their backs for an extra boost of speed while swimming. Their flakes are also fin-like, allowing them to move swiftly under water while hunting. Their paws are slightly wider than the paws of other species, making it easier for them to paddle through lakes and rivers. Water lionesses also have extremely long, smooth tail feathers that enable them to steer through their environment with ease.

They come in all sorts of colors, patterns, and designs, their flakes and fin almost see-through despite any coloration. Water lionesses are known to be very gentle, calm, and giving. They enjoy spending time with others and are willing to help any creature of Pride Lands. They seek affection and tend to grow very close to those that they love. If there's any species of lion in Pride Lands that's monogamous, it would be the Water lionesses.

These lions are often found around lakes, rivers, and occasionally, the ocean. They feel safer within the water, where they have the advantage over the other species of lion. Because they hunt mostly fish, competition for food is rare, which could be a reason for their calm nature. Although they only seem capable of being in the water, water lionesses enjoy spending time out on land as well.

Fire lions are probably the most prominent breed throughout Pride Lands. With their bold appearance and fiery attitude, they're bond to stand out from the crowd. Each fire lion is equipped with a flaming mane, which is used as a hunting strategy as well as a fighting technique. Instead of having tail feathers, their tails are tipped with a single flame, used for hunting, fighting, and even lighting the way in darkness. As cubs, their flames are a lot duller and a lot less controllable, but it grows with time. They are by far the most unique attribute and turn many heads.

Fire lions come in all sorts of colors, patterns, designs, but they're a male-specific breed. They're normally very arrogant or very bold, making many or no friends. Despite their hot-headed personalities, they make exceptional leaders during times of stress and/or despair. They like to show off to the females and make themselves known.

Because of their fiery qualities, these lions spend most of their time in th deserts of Pride Lands. Even though they have full control of their flames, accidents can happen and trees/vegetation can catch fire.

Far off, not often seen around the lions, lay hyenas. In their clans they sit, here you will find their stages of growth and some facts about them.

A b o u t .. t h e .. H y e n a s
  • Family: Hyaenidae
  • Order: Carnivora
  • Class: Mammalia
  • Scientific Name: Crocuta crocuta
  • Lifespan: 25 years
  • Diet: Omnivore, but it's mostly consisted of scraps left behind from other animals
  • Weight: 110 to 190 lbs
  • Height: 34 to 59 in; Tail, 10 to 14 in

F a c t s
  • They are good swimmers, capable of controlling their buoyancy and walking at the bottom of pools whilst holding their breath
  • They have a bite that can deliver over 1,000 pounds of pressure
  • They can bark, howl, grunt, whoop, and other series of noises
  • They rely more sight than smell while hunting prey
  • Females are always more dominant than males
  • Females lead the clans
  • Females also have very unique reproductive organs, making it look almost identical to a males'
  • Usually 2 pups at a time are born

User ImageS t a g e s

Pup: This is a universal stage, meaning that during a flatsale, breeding, or event, you're able to choose your hyenas gender. Hyena pups are born with their eyes open and their teeth already fully developed. They come in a variety of colors, patterns, designs, and sizes. Unlike the lions, they don't have any abnormalities except for their diverse appearances. A little while after they are born, the female will relocate them to her clan's site. It is from here that pups are taught the ways of their clan and begin to grow.

Adolescent: At this age, your hyena is ready to explore his/her surrounding and look for some friends. Because hyenas are very social creatures, much interaction is needed in order for them to learn and understand certain things. They are also ready to participate in hunting, helping the adults in taking their prey down and bringing it back to the clan site. Although they are almost full grown, your hyena is still very playful.

Adult: As adults, hyenas are ready to search for a mate, start a clan, or keep to themselves as loners; searching Pride Lands without a mission. Males, who are smaller and less aggressive than females, will typically leave their birth clan once old enough. Females, however, tend to stick together in a very structured hierarchy. Although females are the ones who lead clans, it is not too uncommon that you'll find a male in the alpha position.

Cheetahs are yet another species of Pride Lands, typically hanging around with those of their own kind. Here you will find their stages of growth and some facts about them.

A b o u t .. t h e .. C h e e t a h s
  • Family: Felidae
  • Order: Carnivora
  • Class: Mammalia
  • Scientific Name: Acinonyx jubatus
  • Lifespan: 12 years
  • Diet: A carnivore, eating mostly mammals under 88 lb, including the Thomson's gazelle, the Grant's gazelle, and the impala.
  • Weight: 88 to 140 lbs
  • Height: About 35 inches tall

F a c t s
  • It is the fastest land animal, reaching speeds between 70-76 mph
  • They have semi-retractable claws that provide extra grip while running
  • They can purr, chirp, and make various other noises
  • Cheetahs cannot roar
  • The wings of the male boost speed while running and also allow them to fly
  • Females don't have wings, but horns instead, usually used in fights against males
  • They are a very vulnerable species
  • Cheetahs can have 2, possibly 3 cubs at a time
  • Unlike their normal cousins, the cheetahs of Pride Lands form united tribes

User ImageS t a g e s

Cub: Cubs are born in a solitary den away their designated tribe, kept watch by their mother. Males are born with small wings while females are born with horns, used only once each gender is older. The can come in a variety of different colors, patterns, deigns, and sizes. Cheetah cubs are very curious, but remain hidden for the first few days of their lives. Once their mother feels ready to bring them back to the tribe, she can choose to keep them in the center, watched over by her or other females of Cheetah Lands, or keep them within her tribe.

Adolescent: By the time they reach this stage, the cheetahs will be full of energy and almost ready to leave the Center to remain in theur tribes. Although males cannot fly, their wings do start to provide extra speed while running. The horns of the females, however, remain small and helpless. Once allowed to go back to their tribe, members of their family will teach them how to hunt, babysit, and introduce them to the ways of Cheetah Lands.

Adult: Males will finally have full control over their wings, enabling them to fly at great heights and distances. Females will have long horns that they'll use for hunting and defense. Once a cheetah becomes an adult, they have many opinions. They can either stay within their family's tribe, which is filled with both related and unrelated cheetahs, or move to another of the five tribes. If they decide to move, he/she will still see and interact with their original family due to the Cheetah Lands' united ways. If an adult feels as though they cannot live under the laws of the land, then they will be looked at as an outcast and forced to live among the lions or hyenas.

Sometimes a lion is lucky enough to have a small animal be their companion. We call them familiars. So far, there are only two known kinds: Mice & Hornbills.

User ImageM i c e .. F a c t s
  • Mice familiars make extremely good scouts because they are quick and agile
  • They are also useful when it comes to solitary missions, such as sneaking into other prides, going to notify other lions, etc.
  • They tend to be a bit naggy on concerned for their fellow lion, but it's all in good friendship
  • They can hear extremely well and will alert danger way before the lions can detect it
  • Travel size! XD

H o r n b i l l .. F a c t s
  • Hornbills make the best messengers, seeing as how they can fly through the air. Kind of like air mail!
  • They are very useful for lions with prides because they are able to communicate quickly and also keep the king updated on his surroundings
  • Some think they are know-it-alls, but just ignore it >>;
  • If ever in danger, send them up ahead to lookout for incoming problems

Got a lot of gold and nothing to spend it on? Try it on an auction! If you're the higest bidder in the end, you'll win the prize! Keep an eye on this area for future auction.

    R u l e s
    • No whining, fighting, or any other sort of negative feedback when participating in an auction. Offenses that aren't taken to PMs will immediately be gray listed and/or unable to continue in certain events.
    • Do not discourage other bidders! This is not only very rude, but immature as well. Auctions are supposed to be competitive, but don't let it get out of control.
    • Do not plan your bids in the thread to "scare" others off.
    • Items are accepted, but it also depends on the colorist (there will be a note below the lion if the colorist doesn't accept items). Their prices are based off of the tektek.org prices.
    • There is no limit as to what you can bid on
    • More will be added as needed
