As you enter the small pet shop, various cages and vivariums surround you. In each one, in relative comfort, is an animal. In the cage to your left is a brown fox, studying its food-bowl. Directly ahead is a wall lined with lizard and fish tanks. Birdcages hang from the ceiling, the occasional parrot paying a complement or rude comment to a potential buyer.

The phone rings, and a Mynah bird hops down from its perch to answer it. A moment later, a white-haired woman with paper cat ears comes out of the back rooms and nudges the bird aside, taking some notes and then looking at you.

“Welcome to the shop. I’m Kage. I’m sure Miko’s around somewhere, but she’s probably playing with the foxes again. How can I help?” she smiles at you, indicating the room in general.

[RolePlay Species Information]

Catlings
Genetically engineered from feline base genes, Catlings are the toys of the rich and influential. They are much sought after in many of the elven courts, and Kage sources them both from her own pets and the friends of the manor house she owns offworld. Often mistreated by their owners who have little of no idea how to care for them, she often confiscates litters and smuggles them out from under their owner's noses.

Becuase of their genetic past, Catlings have a very small magical influence at birth, and while they often learn to understand human they very rarely speak back without enchantment. They have a high intelligence.

Foxes
Favoured for years as familiars for Mages, foxes are a deffinate favourite among the magical community. Because of her own family background, Kage often sources these from the various critters running around the Thirteenth's real offworld base of operations, although sometimes she confiscates them from animal markets and the such like. She holds quite an influence in the magical community, and sometimes spare kits from litters are given to her.

Foxes, especially from the thirteenth, have a high magical influence. Look out for strange colours/markings - these are often signs of magical or sometimes even elemental breedings. Foxes have high intelligence, and when trained by a qaulified mage their magical levels can reach the point where they can learn to speak human and even cast spells. They have a high intelligence.

Hunting Dogs
Favoured highly by the men in the world where Kage keeps a rather large manor (inherited it from a since desceased husband). Her youngest son breeds them and is involved in the training market. Hunting dogs have large litters, and the runts are often abandoned becuase they don't grow as big or don't meet breed standards. Kage offers these dogs a place at the shop.

Hunting dogs can be trained to... well.... hunt, basically. Chase, find, refrain from harming, come, heel, agility, all the basics. They have a high intelligence for a dog, and often have a very good intuition for the feelings of their owners. They are unwaveringly loyal and fierce in the protection of their owners. They tend to have a low magical influence, but look out for strange colours/markings. Often dogs who show these signs become Shaman. Dogs can be cross bred with wolves.

Wolves
The wolves in the shop mostly are those who have lost their pack, are strays or those who were abandoned by their parent's. All of the wolves in the shop are taken under the wing of Midnight, currently the store's only adult wolf (male, I'll post his picture as soon as I finish it.) He likes to keep an eye on the stragglers and hopes one day that he can organise those that stay in the area as a pack.

Becuase all of the wolves are from different places, its hard to tell what they're magical influence will be, and how far you can train them. Watch out for non natural colouration, and strange marking shapes. Because of their independant natures, wolves see their 'owners' more as a companion, or guardian. Some never allow themselves to be baught by a person at all, and just use the shop as a base of operations ((any player baught wolf can be like this, just don't 'own' them when you roleplay them)). They are fiercely loyal to their owners and mates, and can be very cunning.

The rest of this information has been moved the the guild. If you'd like to know more information about the species we have available and the background of the shop, then request to join the guild. Everyone will be accepted, I just wanted to be able to control the posts etc. This information could be used to make prompt responses more accurate, but its not absolutly necessary.

[Previews]

Now for the nice stuff. Here are some sample silhouettes to give you an idea of the way your pets will grow smile . If your pet grows into a shape that doesn't fit the silhouettes, it may mean I have changed to lineart and forgotten to change the silhouette.... Or it might be a custom or special pet, which will sometimes have unusual or unique lineart. Again, don't hesitate to PM me with any problems.

We want this to work, so I’m afraid you’ll have to conform to a few basic, common-sense guidelines.

1.) While you can PM any ‘voiced’ member of staff with requests and questions, any messages sent to a silent partner will go unnoticed until that partner or employee finds their voice again – i.e. becomes active. I'm more likely to be active than Miko is, she's a very busy lady.

2.) Please, be courteous. That means not stealing artwork, not using swearwords, not begging or being obnoxious, and not direct linking. I’d like to be positive about these things, but sometimes I’ve found that being blunt helps. Oh, and anyone who swears at or in reference to Miko is instantly blacklisted - it may seem a little extreme, but she's doing me a favour and I'd like to keep it as hassle free as possible for her.

3.) If you get bored of your pet, please don’t try to sell it on. Return it to us, or give it to someone you know will look after it properly. If you do pass it on, please notify us either here or by PM to our active director – usually either Kage or Miko.

4.) Roleplaying here is encouraged, but not necessary. What you do with your pet outside the shop thread is, of course, up to you – but when we have time we do plan on checking up to make sure that they’re being treated right! Feel free to RP in this thread for the moment, we're still discussing any other avenues of expansion smile .

5.) While by default we won’t PM you with information about your pet’s development – posting it here instead – it is possible to arrange a notification IC.

6.) Your Pet will grow automatically. The first stage lasts about a week, the next two to three weeks and the last four to six weeks. If you think we have forgotten to post its growing, feel free to PM me and ask about it smile .

If you feel that there is any information missing, or that it could be organised better, feel free to PM me any suggestions that come to mind wink

Flatsale rules;

1. These are speed flatsales, first post first serve. If this should ever pose a problem, then a better solution may be found.
2. The flatsale starts when the reference numbers appear below the pet previews, and doesn't finish until all of the pets are sold.
3. You can buy as many pets at a flatsale as you can afford, but you must buy them one at a time, and you cannot reserve the next one until the first is certed in the check out.
4. No pets will be reserved until the trade is sent. If you post the form but don't send the trade, and someone else does it before you, the pet goes to them.
5. Be nice, there may be some points in it for courtesy.
6. If you don't get the pet you like, don't feel bad! Request for one the same in the next flatsale, or buy a custom.

How much are they and How do I get one?
If they're on display in the shop, then they're for sale smile . Actual flatsales, auctions and stuff won't be introduced unless we become popular smile . There will also be events and things at certain times of the year. Each species is individually priced, check the displays.

What about customs?
Our pets are all fully vaccinated and can be transported between… oh, you mean customised, personal pets.
Customs slots may become available when I get some free time. The only way to tell is to check the displays regularly - if there's a blank line art on display, then that’s a custom slot. Custom slots will be quite a bit more expensive though, but they do include line art edits and colour/marking designs. A Custom slot is represented on the display shelves by a white baby pet.

Do I direct link?
Nope. And you won't have a chance to - all of the certed images will be posted in the pickup point, you'll have to come and get them yourself from there. All of their developments will also be posted there, so check back frequently, I won't be PMing you for every development wink .

OMG I lost my pet!! (A.K.A. I didn’t save it to my own server)
I have back up images of all of the pets, so if you were to happen to lose your image for whatever reason, just PM me and I'll post it up again. If you get really stuck we can talk about the best place to keep it wink

Do I have to RP?
Its not absolutely necessary to RP to get a pet, but there are loads of advantages if you do. For example you can ask opinions about how your pet will develop, how fast it is likely to grow, how its colours/markings are likely to change as it gets older. You can also ask for advance notice about certain kinds of pet, so that you can preview them before they go on display.

How long does it take to grow?
It varies. Each stage of your pet will be prepared before it is sold to you, so you won't be waiting for me to colour it before you can have it. However, it might develop quicker if you rp it, speed is also determined by its species, parents and various things. If you feel that it has been too long, feel free to PM me and ask.

Can I work in your shop?
Yes. There will be various positions opening once we're up and running. If you feel you could add something to the shop, feel free to post to us or PM myself about it, and we can talk wink

How do I order?
Once the pet goes into the display, its sold on a first come first serve basis. You need to quote the reference number attached to each pet in your post, and then start the trade. It will only be accepted once your pet has been certed and posted in the pick up area.

Do you take items as payment? What about Pet-trades?
Yep, we'll take both at our own discretion. This will depend on whether either of us want the items, and whether either of us like your pet. Please don't be offended if the answer is no.

Can I own more than one at a time?
Of course! You can own as many at a time as you can afford. You can even buy them more than one at a time. If you like, I will put two or more pets on the same cert smile

Down Potion, as provided by the lovely Raiki (he wanders in from time to time.) It takes your pet down a stage in growth, but the only way to make this change permanent is to use another potion.

Well, as we have our first teenagers and adults, I think its time to sort this out! As a responisble pet shop, there will only be one breeding slot open at a time. This slot is currently OPEN.

Rules
1. All pairings must be evidenced by roleplay. You have to have played the two together before applying for the breeding slot.
2. No same sex pairings can have babies. Surrogacy is allowed, however.
3. All pets must be at the adult stage before breeding, except catlings, which can breed at the teenage stage.
4. Colour combinations/twins etc can be requested, but may not be granted unless you apply to one of the custom slots.

Breedings for full pets will cost 10k each, 5k from each parent. Mini pets are 5k each, 2.5k from each parent. Father gets pick of the litter, because that's traditional. You can either choose to keep the resulting babies, give them away, or let the shop sell them on. You won't recieve payment if we sell them on.

Catlings: 3 - 8 approx
Foxes: 2 - 4 approx
Dogs: 2 - 6 approx
Wolves: 2 - 4 approx
Bears: 2 - 2 approx
Hyena: 2 - 4 approx

Ferrets: 2 - 6 approx
Fearie Dragons: 2 - 4 approx
Rabbits: 2 - 8 approx

New colourist rules, which mean that pets have to go into FS rather than be posted. Also, as we seem to have a lot of people on this post who I haven't heard from for a while, I need to recieve some confirmation that you wish to carry on as a colourist within the next month, please. And a pet for the April FS

If you order a custom and would like anything changed with the final product, feel free to let me know. smile Remember, it's not final until you say so, but please don't be too picky because I can only do what I can. haha

My flatscales are around 2.5k and customs are 4k. If the custom is more complicated, I may ask for more, but I will let you know. I do accept pet trades, but I have to okay the pet first. It also has to be alright with the pet creator as I'd like my name to be put on the cert.
