Once, not too long ago, in a neighborhood not too far from yours, our heroine ChaosKirin got lost in the woods. Her friends had no compunctions about taking CK and dropping her off there as a joke, where she was sure to be eaten by a bunch of half-starved film students with nothing better to do than run around in the woods with their video cameras pointing at their feet.

Being as she suddenly found herself in these dire straights, CK did the only thing one could do in such a situation: Wander through the woods aimlessly, yelling at the top of her lungs about just how pissed she was that her friends abandoned her. Suddenly, she stumbled into a drainage ditch and nearly broke her ankle slipping on a v. special jewel-encrusted can. "Awesome!" said CK, after exhausting her vocabulary of curse words at having nearly broken her ankle. Of course, she picked up the can to shine it up, and predictably, a genie came out to present her with three wishes. "Okay, okay already!" he said. "What do you want, and hurry it up! I'm missing General Hospital!"

CK LOVED General Hospital. So they went back to the genie's jewel-encrusted can to watch it. By this point, CK had sobered up somewhat, and realized the direness of her situation. She was hungry, didn't know her way home, and worst of all, she wasn't sure if she'd even set her TiVo to record the episode of GH they'd just watched! Oh, she'd get back at her friends for what they'd done!

She fell into a deep thought. She plotted. She planned. She schemed. She designed weapons and defied UN inspectors. Finally, she'd done it! "I wish for--THE BEST PIZZA EVER!" she yelled. The genie granted her wish, and she feasted while thinking about what she wanted next.

"Uhmmhmhm," CK thought aloud. "I want to be home!"

And they were home. The fabulous genie took one look at the place, rolled his eyes, and said, "Oh, this is awful! Is that a floral-print couch? Seriously, girl, those went out of fashion AGES ago."

Afraid suddenly that the fabulous genie was going to begin redecorating her house without her permission, CK stammered: "Wait! I have another wish!"

"And those flounces! How could you--oh, fine. What do you want now?" The genie had been in fine form. He'd always wanted to be a fashionista, or failing that, an interior decorator. He folded his arms across his chest and pouted to show his dismay.

CK didn't notice. She was too busy plotting her next wish. It had to be something awesome! And horrifying! And completely incomparable! And a good way to get back at her horrible friends who'd dumped her in the woods. Her nose wrinkled up, her lips pulled back from her teeth, and she grinned a terrible grin. "I want--Tonberries!"

The genie appeared to be appalled by this, and without saying a word (And without leaving any Tonberries) he disappeared from Kirin's house, possibly forever. Kirin was, needless to say, very sad about this. After eating a full quart of ice cream, she went to bed.

She woke up the next morning afternoon with a terrible headache. Stumbling to get an aspirin from the medicine closet, she noticed that her sink was full of Jell-o. Was this some kind of horrible trick? Had her awful friends come back and filled up the pipes of her house with Jell-o? She swallowed several aspirin, and went gingerly to poke at the multicolored, gelatinous mass in her sink.

Only then did she notice: a) it wasn't Jell-o and b) there was a note on top of it. It was a pink note, with glitter and perfume. Also, the writing was in pink. Darker pink. 'Heres you're Tonberrees,' it said. Apparently, being a genie--even a fabulous one--didn't have a spelling requirement. 'PS: your a horrible person sad '

CK did the first thing she could think of in the excitement: She ate the note. (Have you ever taken aspirin on an empty stomach?) Then she went to get a fishbowl for the Jell-o eggs.

Three days later, one of her friends got a suspicious package in the mail. "Oh, I wonder what this could be," she said. In her hurry, she tore it open, not noticing the note that fell off.

'From ChaosKirin, to my dearest most wonderful friend who leaves me in the woods to get eaten by film students heart ' it said.

Inside was a Tonberree. "Aww, aren't you adorable!" she squealed. "I'll name you something pretentious in Latin and we can be best friends forev--hey what are you doing with that knife--"

DOINK.

And it was the worst birthday ever.

1. First and foremost, PLEASE don't steal our art. We actually work hard on it, and we'd really hate to see people taking it without paying for it. Art theft is illegal. If you decide to steal the drawings, I will find out. Just don't do it. Penalties for art theft include: Blacklisting, reporting to a mod. You will not be allowed to own a Tonberree, and any Tonberries you DO own will be taken away.

2. Flatsales will be held in one of two ways. First, will be the typical first-come-first serve style. When the contest opens, the first to post will be given first choice of the eggs, and so on, until all the eggs are gone. Second, for those with slow modems, prompts will also be issued, which will require people to write a bit for their eggs. Regular flatsale Tonberries will be 5K each. Special editions may cause the price to fluctuate a bit. If so, the price will be posted with the flatsale post.

3. No harassing ChaosKirin or mlisubaru, or the people who post here and/or own Tonberries. This means: If you don't like the Tonberree you get, don't complain. Don't harass other owners, either, and to those that have enough to bid in auctions... Well. Leave them alone, too.

4. Be respectful to the others on the forum, and do your best to type legibly in the English language (No L33T. Type with proper capitalization/punctuation/spelling.) No flame wars or meaningless posts. Bumping is allowed; I just don't want to see anything that might belong in another forum.

5. No reserving. For auctions and flatsales, PLEASE wait 'til we give the Okay to start posting. Don't PM us about auctions/flatsales/raffles.

6. Don't edit a flatsale/auction post once you've posted. Also, one Tonberree per flatsale or auction. Thanks.

7. People can be Blacklisted or greylisted at our discression. Blacklisting will last anywhere from a month to being permanent. Don't ask to be removed from the Blacklist. It won't happen.

8. There is no limit on the number of Tonberries you may own. For this reason, there will be just-for-newbies flatsales once in a while.

9. To prevent sniping in auctions, bidding will close ten minutes after the last bid is placed. If the set time for the auction ends and there are people still bidding, it will be allowed to continue until there's a ten minute time cushion.

10. Co-owning is not and will never be allowed. It bothers us greatly that two people will actually get together and pool all their money in an attempt to take a pet out from under the noses of people that don't like co-owning. Do not ask about it, please. There are NO CIRCUMSTANCES where we will allow co-owning, even if we've known you on Gaia for 10 years.

11. If you want a certain stage for your pet to be preserved, SAVE YOUR CERT. I cannot stress this enough. The shop owners don't have the space to save every single stage of your Tonberree's life, and we do apologise for that. After your Tonberree grows, the stage it was at will be DELETED. Please keep this in mind, and act accordingly.

12. Along with the above rule (This should be common sense) we CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR TONBERREE IN ITS CURRENT STAGE. The file for editing it is gone. If you need something changed on the cert, like the OWNER or the TONBERREE'S NAME, you will have to wait until it grows. Of course, if it's already an adult, it's too late, and we apologise for that. If you need something changed, please PM the mule about it. Name changes and owner changes will cost an additional 1000G. Why? Because you have to keep in mind that M and Kirin are not machines that mass-produce art.

13. There is nothing wrong with the art you're given. Even if it has ten arms and seven eyes and maybe three nostrils. The point is, please don't edit the art. If the shop owners decide that something about the art needs editing, they'll do it themselves. Think of the mistakes as giving your cert character. They're special editions!

14. Please don't ask us to grow your Tonberree. ._. We're aware of our own timeframes, and we don't need hints or reminders if we're a couple days late. We appreciate that you're exited, and that's great! But M and Kirin don't spend all their time with the Tonberree shop, so please understand if growings don't happen on a set schedule. Each request you make for one will delay your Tonberree's growth for a full month.

15. This is kinda a silly rule, HOWEVER, if your username is inexplicably and ridiculously long and it won't fit in the name field on the cert without making the cert look bad, I reserve the right to shorten it. For example, if your name is JosephinaRabbitGlowSunAtmosphere, I'll probably just put 'JosephinaRGSA' on the cert.

Tonberries reproduce hermaphroditically. That is, they don't actually HAVE a gender. Two of them get together, and through the miracle of nature, they are somehow able to create eggs between them! Granted, they don't make thousands of eggs at a time like some frogs do. It's only a few. Of note, Tonberries do not mate for life.

This is the egg stage. Tonberree eggs are jelly-like, though very strong. It's almost impossible for them to break, which is what makes them so unique.

The baby Tonberree is completely aquatic, and breathes through gills. It starts to develop its personality at this point.

At this point, the child is breathing air, and may even venture onto land once in a while. It needs water to survive, however. Its personality will be very clear by this point.

The adult Tonberree is now fully terrestrial, and defensive of its owner. It has taken a weapon, and the lantern seems to be some sort of power source for it.

This is mostly because I can't STAND some of the old Tonberries I coloured. XD

1. I am offering the opportunity to have your old Tonberries re-coloured and placed on the new certs. This ONLY applies to the very old 'straight-tailed' (EXAMPLE HERE) version. Special editions are not included. They must be 'normal.'

2. The colourist on the cert MUST be ChaosKirin. I will not recolour Tonberries done by M.

3. For a limited time only, the recolouring fee is 5K! This should be sent to the mule (Tonberree) along with the name of the Tonberree you want recoloured. The following needs to be posted in the thread:

There are three species, who, oddly enough, have decided to ally themselves with Tonberries. They act as a conscience of sorts, though whether that's good or bad is impossible to tell! All are small, and only come up to ABOUT the Tonberree's knee at full height. They have their uses, though!

Flatsale familiars are 2K. There will occasionally be contests, raffles, and auctions for them, however, in addition to flatsales. Custom-coloured familiars are 20K and do not include lineart edits. Familiars with lineart edits are 50K. Familiars may be purchased by anyone, regardless of whether or not they own a Tonberree. They may be attached to their own mini tags, or added to an existing Tonberree (If you own one!) cert at no cost. Please, only one familiar per Tonberree!

MINIMOG

The Minimog is a tiny moogle. While small, though, Minimogs are incredibly loyal to the Tonberree they choose. They can hold weapons, which are usually hand-made from sticks and stones and the like. Most favour spears, though there are lots of oddballs out there who choose other things. Some never take a weapon at all, and are just content to sit on their 'berree's shoulder. Minimogs are capable of speech, and are very intelligent.

PARABO

The Parabo is named as a combination of parakeet and chocobo. While they aren't as small as parakeets, they're tiny compared to their big cousins, the chocobos! Parabos are quick little things. They can act as messangers or guardians, depending on what's needed of them. After all, they do have sharp talons and beaks. While parabos aren't capable of speech other than what a parrot might be able to accomplish, they are fairly intelligent.

MOOMBIT

Moombits can be hot-tempered and rash, though they are loyal guardians and faithful. Fiercely defensive of the Tonberree to whom they attach themselves, Moombit familiars are friends for life. Generally, they choose one word, usually their friend's name, and will convey all their ideas using that one word. Occasionally, Moombits learn more than just rudimentary speech. In general, they are very intelligent.

POCKET SHOOPUF

Pocket Shoopufs get just large enough for one Tonberree to ride on. The 'pocket' title can be somewhat deceiving, considering they're never small enough to fit inside a pocket... However, they are smaller than average. Though loyal, they are, unfortunately, rather dumb and single-minded, though are capable of great love and devotion.

TINY TONBERRY

The Tiny Tonberry is EASILY the smallest of the lot. At little more than three inches in height at most, these little critters are no less sneakity than their larger cousins. They tend to be slightly slimy to the touch... Personalities vary greatly, though they aren't quite as advanced as the big Tonberries.

There comes a time in every Tonberree's life where it wants to make more little Tonberries. Given that they are frog-like, one would think that each pair might lay thousands of eggs! However, this isn't the case. At most, an expectant family might have four.

How does this happen, you ask? Well, we're not exactly sure. When two Tonberries love (?) each other very much, they hide away and then, suddenly, there are eggs! That's... about all we know. Seriously, though, do you REALLY want to know what goes on?

Given the fact that we want to keep the Tonberree population in check, we charge the Tonberries for use of these... 'hidden places' they find. The cost for a breeding is 20K. Each pair is guaranteed at least two eggs from the breeding, and may have up to four.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Two people who own two different Tonberries (in other words, you can't breed your own together) should post in the thread asking for a breeding slot, if there's one open. Please use this form:

2. The colourist you pick will then use the random number feature on Gaia to determine how many offspring you will recieve between two and four. When this is done, you should send trade to that colourist, and she will do your eggs for you.

3. When breedings open, you may only claim one spot among all of your Tonberries. You may also only keep one egg per breeding.


WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH THE EGGS

1. Each owner may keep one egg, if they so desire.
2. Owners may choose to sell the egg back to the shop. It will then be put aside to be used in a 2nd/3rd/etc gen flatsale. Owners will recieve 2K for an egg they decide to sell to the shop.
3. Eggs may be auctioned in a thread set up by the owner. Auctions would probably work best for Tonberries who are 'special.' (IE: two Master Tonberries bred together will usually breed true.) 60% of what you earn on the auction will go to the colourist who did your eggs, and the owners will have 40% to split between them.
4. Eggs may be given to friends at no charge.

GENETICS

1. Normal x Normal = Normal, with a 1% chance of producing a Master.
2. Normal x Master = Normal, with a 25% chance of producing a Master. Master eggs will be noted.
3. Master x Master = Master, with a 10% chance of producing a King.
4. Special Tonberries (like the Harry Potter series) involved in breeding will vary. Offspring will tend to have features of the special parent.

Additional note: Tonberries will not necessarily be a mixture of the two colours of their parents. Colours will be similar, but due to Tonberree genetics, mutations regularly occur. One Tonberree may be thirteen different colours, where its sibling may be pure red. Though there will be evidences of the parents in all the young, colours will vary as much as personalities.

CHAOSKIRIN

TYPE A (40K): Custom-coloured ADULT Tonberree. This Tonberree will not grow, and does not include any lineart edits. Master Tonberries or King Tonberries cannot be type A customs.

TYPE B (65K): Custom-Coloured Tonberree which will cycle through all four stages. (Egg, baby, child, adult). This type does not include lineart edits. Master Tonberries or King Tonberries cannot be type B customs.

TYPE C (80K): This type includes minor lineart edits to the adult Tonberree only. Minor lineart edits include knife edits, lantern edits, or the addition of items which can easily be included without drastically changing the lineart. This Tonberree will cycle through all four stages. Master Tonberries or King Tonberries cannot be type C customs. DOES NOT INCLUDE COSPLAYS.

TYPE D (220K): This type includes major lineart edits to the adult Tonberree only, and minor lineart edits to baby and child stages, if desired. Major lineart edits can include anything that I'm able to draw, and should be discussed with Kirin before sending payment. Master Tonberries or King Tonberries cannot be type D customs.

TYPE E (400K): Type E customs are Master Tonberries. When filling out a custom form, one should also define what colour you'd like the feather crest on the head to be, and also the colour of the star.

Type F (200K - 700K+): Type G customs are cosplay Tonberries. The final price will be based off of one of the above prices, based on what the person commissioning the custom wants. Customs from popular series (Final Fantasy, Naruto, et cetera) Will generally be slightly more expensive, since I would like to reserve those for future auctions. Before sending the form, and if there's an open slot, all interested parties should PM the mule to see if Kirin can do the custom, and what she wants to charge for it. Note, price reflects adult-only edits. If edits are desired on hatchling and adolescent stages, the price will increase.

TYPE G (Devil Tail): For a Devil Tail, Kirin will draw you an entirely unique set of Tonberries (Egg, baby, child, adult.) This set will be one of a kind, and will never be re-used.
