Artist Information and Requirements
We are always looking for new artists to join us, and we have an amazing staff of artists presently helping our shop thrive.
ItNotM uses a template based system, where artists can choose a pre-existing template or splice pieces from multiple templates to create artwork. Our artists can provide full edits, including hair, expression, clothes, accessories and items, and may also require splicing pieces from different templates or drawing new body parts to properly suit the art. Artists may decline doing major edits or redraws, but we ask that people be prepared to try to at least do some basic splices. We are looking for skilled artists capable of working with templates and drawing in a style that can compliment the templates. While artists may incorporate their own styles or modify templates to better match, they will need to work with our art staff and art GMs to maintain some level of uniformity in the art produced for our shop. If you feel like your style is drastically different from our templates, don’t be afraid to apply! We are willing to work with a variety of styles as long as the artwork can remain cohesive on the templates. If this means that you may need to recolor or modify templates to retain a cohesive flow of styles, we will consider this in applications! While we traditionally operate in a soft shaded style, we are open minded to artists that prefer to color using cel shading, hard shading, or realistic shading--as long as it retains an anime influence and compliments our existing styles
or can compliment reshaded templates provided by the artist utilizing our lines.
As an artist for the shop, your duties may include participation in free events such as concept contests or mini games, judging contests, providing growths, quest fairying players, designing custom outfits, weighing in on art related changes, or running customs.
New artists may be asked to get approval for art before posting to ensure they meet guidelines and quality, and you may be asked to work with another shop artist for a short time while you settle in.
All artists should strive to finish a piece once every two weeks to ensure no lapse in playability of earned characters, however the shop works with artists provided they keep open communication.
Full Time Artists are paid in one of two ways; we have credit options (where you can do art in exchange for credits to buy new characters or piece of art for yourself or others in the shop), or gold options. Guest Artists will be paid in gold or Crown Tokens, however will have access to a modified exchange rate of Crown Tokens as well as exclusive staff offers.
Base prices for a full stage of art range from 500 Million (for characters grandfathered in under a lower gold price) to 1 Billion gold, however with the fluctuating Gaia Economy, this is subject to change at any time to better reflect the value of currency. Artists retain 100% of earnings from all customs they open, and all personal auctions they run (unless negotiated otherwise). They are guaranteed a cut in raffles, to be determined based on raffle, and will earn 75% of all Bribe offers.
Full Time Artists
Full Time Artists have the following Quota:
Must Provide at least two pieces of new powered art once every three months. Examples of how this may be done include opening customs, accepting grab bag requests, or accepting Crown Token claims to meet this quota.
Provide at least two new pieces of free art every three months. Examples of how this may be done include free alternate civilian outfits, free alternate powered outfits, or Quest Fairying deserving players.
Participation in concept contests, giveaways, and other shopwide events (this may include creating premades, semi premades, or full customs).
Completion of at least three growths within the three month time period (provided your slots are requested).
Guest Artists
Guest Artists do not have to adhere to the quota of full time artists and, while they do not have any requirements, the shop would like to ask that they try to produce at least five pieces of artwork per year. They must also keep open communication with the shop when they are too busy to participate in events or other shop related duties. Guest artists will be asked to prioritize grab bag claims and help artists who are requesting assistance in completing their work lists, but there is a lot of freedom in what they can do. They may do upgrades if they are requested, can open customs, take on Crown Token claims, do premades, or participate in other art related shop events. They are not naturally guaranteed participation in shop hosted auctions, raffles or bribes, however invitation may be offered depending on activity level. Guest artists will
not have crew privileges within the Guild and may be exempt from some full time staff perks. Guest artists will only be able to take on a maximum of three things at any one time and will be required to contact anyone on their list within two week intervals with updates on the art even if they have not been able to finish it.
Unique Artists
We are looking to be more lenient with art styles for unique art provided it meets a few basic standards. Unique artists must work in a style that is full-color, full-body, anime inspired, and comparable in quality to our existing art. Traditionally, templated artists can collaborate to create unique art but are still expected to produce a certain amount of templated art.
Unique artists will be considered
guest artists as we adapt to this new position in the shop. They will be paid in Crown Tokens and do not have the same quota as full time artists due to the nature of working without templates.
Templated artists
can still work on unique art, however they are still expected to meet their quota for templated art. All unique art will need approval from an Art GM, at least for the first three months; after which, the unique artist may move on from the probationary period. Unique artists will be paid twice as much per piece of unique art as the shop pays for templated art.
Application Process
If you are applying for a standard full time/guest artist position:
We have provided the links to several templates our shop uses; please download the PSDs of your choice and design a uniform for each of them. Please select a different faction for each template! We currently have four factions—the
Senshi, the
Negaverse, the
Knights and the
Dark Mirror Court; information about each faction can be found in the corresponding links, and an overview of uniform guidelines may be found
here. If you are creating a Senshi/(including Corrupted Senshi and Dark Mirror Senshi), please design them using a sphere themed from our
Locked Spheres list. If creating a Knight, please be mindful of planet colors and themes when designing! Negaverse agents are supposed to be military/business with predominantly dark colors, so please also keep this in mind if designing one! In order to best showcase the style you want to bring to the shop you can edit expression, modify hands, redraw limbs, or reshade; while some of these are common requests for templated art, other requests are more extreme.
Please remember that all of these are intended to be first stage characters, so their outfits should be based off of the first stage guidelines! If you are hired, these characters may be given out in an event, so we want them to be as close to shop guidelines as possible! If you have any questions about uniform guidelines, please feel free to ask!
Alternatively, for your application you may also choose to do a sample growth of one of your characters if they have hit growth requirements and have been posted for art. You may contact
In the Name of the Mule to discuss options for this; players must understand that if the art meets guidelines and they are promoted to official art staff they may use their art, however if they are not hired the art cannot be displayed or shared within the shop and cannot be considered official growth art. If the player is not hired, they will still need to get their art from an official shop source. You
must contact the shop mule for this prior to starting this art if it is something you would be interested in. Additionally, if you struggle with CC designs based on the available themes, you may also contact the shop mule and we can work with you to give you a general theme or style outside of the locked list.
Rules:
These lines are not to be used for anything outside of shop application. We are providing the links now for potential candidates to utilize to showcase their skills, so please do not abuse the PSDs! We do not consent to these lines being used for sketching, designing, use in other shops, or to being posted anywhere outside of this application thread. Thank you for understanding!
Please either utilize an art style that compliments or matches the art style of our templates or show us a sample of how you would modify template coloring to match your style. If you are submitting an application with a different style, you may edit the template’s shading to better match your style. You may edit expression and pose, but please do not edit the facial features so much that it is not recognizable as our templates. If you submit an application with a style that requires the templates to be modified, please understand that you may need to get approval from an Art GM before the art can be dropped!
Everyone is free to enter! Please do not discourage anyone from entering and please do not give unwanted criticism for any art.
While you do not have to be a member of the shop to apply, it is generally helpful if you are at least vaguely familiar with the factions and/or faction uniform guidelines! Please let us know if you do not feel like you have a good grasp of them; if hired we will work with you to try and help!
Please title PM applications as 'Artist Application' and send them to In the Name of the Mule!
