Devlin raced through the trees in search of the prey he had lost. He'd been chasing a deer with a bad leg for two days now, the creature had somehow managed to allude him at every turn. Some was telling him that this was no normal deer. After all, even with living in this forest for nearly twenty years now, Devlin had never seen anythng like this deer. A beautiful creature, save the leg, that was the purest brown the hunter had ever seen. But the feeling of it being unatural hummed at Dev's intincts, and he had taken it upon himself to track this creature down and do what he must for the sake of his home.

Two hours later he found it. Standing still at a puddle of sorts, resting and taking a drink. Devlin was careful to be a as quiet as possible when slipping behind a tree and drawing an arrow, notching that arrow. He waited untill he had the angle just right before silently drawing the homemade wed-like strin, breathing in to get maximum power for this strike.

Adrian let his plane glide through the air as he watched behind him and around him. These were tough times. War plagued the country and he'd been forced into it. He barely knew how to fight and yet he'd been thrown into a plane, taught to fly, and set out into the world. It wasn't that hard, it was just the crashing and burning thought that bothered him. Spotting the enemy air craft behind him, Adrian got ready to pull back and blast it with a missile, he figured it would be a quick kill since the other had been following him for near twenty minutes.

Suddenly the tables were turned he felt the enemy's missile make contact with his engine. Cursing, Adrian did what he could to keep the plane steady as the enemy pulled away, sure that he would crash and die. At any rate, they were so far over the forest that even if he did live, there was no way he'd survive. Adrian's plane came barreling downwards when he lost control, crashing through the tree's and landing hard.

Devlin was just about to let the arrow fly when a kind of scream was heard from above. But Dec only notice the deer bounding away. He cursed and started after it, except the screaming got louder, and almost too late Devlin noticed the huge thing about to fall on him. Swiftly he ran to a slighly safer part on the whatever it was landed fully and had stopped.

Having lived pretty much his whole life in the forest, Devlin had never seen anything like this thing. No, that was wrong. He'd seen them, from a distance as they flew over the woods, but none of them had ever even come close to the tree tops.

He knocked another arrow and apporched the smoking white-silver thing. There was some kind of oval-ish arch way towards the middle of it, Dev knocked on it, but nothing happened. In the front there were two large water-clear things, sperated by a black line, both with large spider-webbed cracks on both. However he could make out a form through the cracks. The creature appearedto be hurt, if all the red was anything to jugde by. Devlin put away the bow annd arrow, finding a rock to help break the water-clear stuff. Soon he had the person out of the thing and on the ground before him.

Adrian felt the impact, he could feel his warm blood everywhere. As he'd been taught, he tried to stay conscious and get out. The button that let him out didn't work, the clear glass around him was covered in spiderweb cracks and yet it did not open. He heard something back a ways on the plane. It sounded like a knock, but at the same time it sounded like what could turn into an explosion.

Leaning back in his seat and staying still, he knew he was trapped. Through the cracks, he seen a figure moving around on the outside, and then the sound of smashing. Adrian turned his head away as the window finally broke, sending glass shards everywhere. Feeling his body being moved, Adrian clenched his teeth, clinging to consciousness. For all he knew, he was in enemy territory and whoever had pulled him out was just going to kill him. Or the plane had found a landing spot and that man had come to finish the job. Closing his eyes, the pilot felt pain all throughout his body, although without actually looking at himself, he had no idea how bad it actually was.

Devlin tired to be careful, but no doubt that moving even a little bit probably hurt. "Hey? You hear me? You ok?" Devlin asked, his voice hoarse and hesitating from so long with really using it. Most of the blood was on either his face or his legs. So the worst of the cuts would be on there.

Gently Devlin picked the man up again after listening to him for a few seconds, and raced away from the thing that had crashed. He couldn''t go all the way back to the cave that he'd made into his home, but there was a hollow tree that he stayed in when he came down the way. It would be just big enough to house the both of them for now.

Hearing a man's voice above him, it sounded like thunder to his pounding head. "Oh I'm fine... I just fell twenty thousand feet is all..." What a silly thing to ask. He was bleeding, he was obviously hurt, and he'd been pulled out of a plane wreck he should have died in. Obviously he wasn't okay! Adrian pushed his helmet off, not that it had done any good when it was on. The part that covered his face had been up so it hadn't helped any, and his head was bleeding. Trying to asses the damage without moving, he focused his thoughts on his body. Breathing. How was breathing? After a few more breaths, he realized his lungs were alright which meant he had a chance. Of course he was dizzy and all, but who wouldn't be?

Feeling himself moved again, he tried to fight it but a lot of good that did. Pain shot up through his body and there was nothing to do about it. Adrian had to keep his teeth clenched to avoid letting any sound of pain out of his mouth. "Will you be careful?" He complained. Of course Adrian was thankful for being pulled out of there before he passed out or the plane exploded or something. He still felt like passing out, but at least he wouldn't do it inside a plane that probably could have filled with smoke or gas and suffocated him. Or exploded.

Well if he could complain and moan about it, he was obviously ok and probably going to live. Still rude and annoying though. "Am bein' careful. You heavy." Devlin grunted back. Ungrateful much? But Dev was also a little grumpy, thanks to that crash, he'd lost the deer. And he was curious. As to what that thing was, who this man was, and where did he come from, but those could wait till he was healed.

Again beinhg gental, not that the other noticed, Dev laid him down on the moss bed when they arrived at the tree. Too get a good look at the wounds Dev started tugging off his clothes. Hoping that he didn't injure the man further. And hoping that the guy didn't strugle, that would make helping him more dificult.

Adrian didn't think he was heavy. Any fit man from his team would have carried him like it was nothing. He knew he should be acting more grateful, but somehow that didn't seem possible. Trying to stay awake, he forced himself to think. Who was this man? Why was he so far out in the forest. The man seemed to live there, which was odd. Why was he there? So many questions with no answer in sight.

It didn't matter how gentle the other was. Adrian was in pain no matter what. Being laid down saved a lot of pain. Although the movement in the attempted to remove clothes brought on a whole knew pain. At the very least, he prayed nothing had been broken. That would only make things harder then they had to be. He was cut up everywhere, but his lower body seemed to be the worst. Adrian's legs were cut up pretty and bruised badly and one large piece of glass stuck in his left thigh.

Devlin winced asthe man's body was revealed. He had to be in alot of pain right now. Dev left the tree for a few minutes, there was a special blue moss that had healing properties, and while most of it grew around the cave, there should be enough around here to help the worst cuts. It wasn't too much longer before he found the moss, and an old tree stump that he carved in two different sized bowls, one larger and one smaller, with a bone knife he kept on his person.

There was a steam nearby that he used to fill the larger bowl, while the moss was in the smaller. After getting what he needed, Dev headed back to the tree and set the two bowls on the floor beside the man. He took a peice of cloth from a pocket, dipped it into the water to wet it and started washing the blood off. "Sorry if hurts." Dev appogized to the boy as he cleaned the other.

Soon he had washed off most of the blood, not moving the peice and water-clear from his skin. Then he pressed the cloth to the peice and quickly slid it out, placing the bloody peice on the side before holding some of the blue moss onto the wounds.

Adrian realized he must look bad, but as for now, he still prayed it was something minor that caused him so much pain. Something easily treatable, unlike a sprain or broken bone. When the strange man left, he thought about taking off. If it wasn't for the fact he couldn't move without pain, which would be the glass in his leg cutting more, he probably would have gone. At any rate, the man seemed to be helpful anyway. Despite the fact he personally wasn't showing much gratitude.

When the stranger apologized ahead of time, that told him right there that he was going to get hurt. All he could do was nod and silently promise not to yell. Body tense as the water cleaned the blood off, revealing that most of his wounds were moderate to minor and would heal easily. When the rag came off of his body, Adrian let himself relax.

Without any sort of warning, he felt a blinding pain in his thigh, causing him to arch his back and clench his teeth hard, though sound of pain still made it's way through. If ever there was a time to lose consciousness, now was it. Unfortunately, it did not seem to want to happen now. Slowly, his back made contact with the moss bed again and his body relaxed. Without the glass in Adrian's thigh, he actually felt some relief. It was one of those times where something hurt so badly, it felt good when it was gone, even if you were still in pain.

Closing his eyes and panting slightly since he'd stopped breathing when the glass came out, Adrian muttered a soft form of thanks.

Devlin sighed in relief. He wasn't as badly hurt as he had first thought, and now that thw water-clear was out he seemed a little better. He kept the moss in place until the skin started to heal. It itched, that much Dev knew. So he had to say, "Sorry. No move." So that he wouldn't try to scratch or anything and make it worse.

On he moved to the other cuts, more itchy blue moss. But it was helping, that was what mattered. In about a week or two the guy would be healed enough to go back to where ever he came from, and Devlin could resume his hunrt of that deer.

Sorry no move? Adrian realized the man didn't have a very well built vocabulary. With that thought, he could guess that he was pretty far out into the forest. Whoever this was had been here a while. As his body relaxed, he started to feel itchy all over. Now he realized what 'Sorry, no move' meant. It meant no scratching. He whined softly, trying to keep his arms at his sides and avoid scratching since it probably would only make things worse.

Adrian closed his eyes again, now focusing on not scratching. It was very bothersome, whatever it was, but it did seem to help. "What is this stuff?" It was hard to let himself drift off when all he could think about was how itchy he was.

Devlin held up some of the blue moss for him to see. "Blood moss." He said, and point at the blue veins running through his skin, showing this was why he call it that. "Helps." He added with a smile. The man seemed to understand him well enough, and he understood the other pretty well, despite the diferences in the way they spoke.

"I Devlin, you?" He said, asking the guys name. He couldn't forever thin of him as 'the man' now could he? It felt too odd for some reason.
