1. Oct. 23, 2009 - This thread is being set up. Please do not post until the thread has been completely made.

2. Oct. 24, 2009 - This thread is open!

3. Dec. 4, 2009 - We are closing elf recruitment until after New Year's Day. The staff cannot keep up with training of new elves and the new applications.

4. Feb. 12, 2010 - Recruitment thread is now open again!

5. June 30, 2010 - Thread undergoing a major revamp. We are still open!

6. August 8, 2010 - Please read the updates to our education plan. Also, please note that our end of the education term for 2010 will be Nov. 26, 2010. This is to prepare all the elves, new and old, for gathering gifts and getting ready to go out into the GCD. This thread will close for elf application on Nov. 26, 2010. If you want to be an elf, get started and your training soon.

7. Nov. 26, 2010 - Recruitment for being an elf, and elf academy classes, are now closed for the rest of the year. We will open again in early 2011. Everyone have a safe and gift-filled holiday!

Part of being a good GCD Elf always means following Gaia Online's rules, Gaia Online's regulations, our (GCD Elf) thread rules, and the rules of the GCD. However, some of those rules can be confusing. So a list of our rules are below for all new recruits to follow.

Thread Rules

1. Obey all of Gaia's rules. This includes the Terms of Service, Rules & Guidelines, the rules inside the Gaia Community Projects (GCP) sub-forum, and the stickies located in the Gaia Community Discussion (GCD) forum.

2. Obey all of the rules concerning the GCD Elves. If you do not follow them, we reserve the right to kick you out of our organization.

3. Please note that you are an elf and you must take on an elf persona. That means you...


a. Give gifts without expecting anything in return. In order to do so, you must have the funds to gift Gaians accordingly.

b. You are anonymous. In other words, you do not reveal your main account to anyone in any forum. That information is personal and confidential.

c. Do not take your elf donations and transfer them to your main. If you are caught doing so you will be kicked out from the GCD Elves.

d. You must follow the rules of the Amaryllis Academy. This includes doing your class work before a pre-decided time during the year, keeping secrets, and following directions and listening to your fellow elves. Please note that all new elves must take all the classes in the academy.

4. If you wish to join us, you must create an elf account. You will need a 3 digit number to identify yourself. To look at the numbers already taken, please use Gaia's Search Engine for usernames.

5. When you become a GCD Elf, you must request to be accepted into Amaryllis Academy for your elf training. Once you have completed your schoolwork, only then will you be invited you to the main GCD Elf forum.

6. Do not ask to be accepted into Amaryllis Academy unless you are a GCD Elf. Your request will not be accepted.

7. You may donate to any elf for him/her to buy gifts for good Gaians. Please let the elf know if the donation is personal - meaning for the elf, or for the public - meaning the gift is to be recycled back to users in the GCD.

8. Do not harass us elves or spam this thread. You will be reported.

9. These rules are subject to change as the thread owners see fit.

The GCD Elves started as an organization in 2007. We continue to thrive by giving back to the GCD and gifting good users with gifts. What you decide to gift is up to you, but all new elves must take classes in Amaryllis Academy.

It is a requirement that all new elves must complete these classes before Nov. 26, 2010. This is to ensure that all new elves are educated and prepared for the Christmas Season. Again, the classes for new elves ARE required. If you have any questions about the academy, its rules, or learning procedures, and you are already accepted into the guild - please ask them in this thread. If you have other questions and are not a member of the academy, please contact either GCD Elf Headmaster, GCD Elf 012, or GCD Robo Elf. We will try to get back with you as soon as possible.

EDIT - We now have a new rule in Amaryllis Academy. All new recruits must take the first training class, Basic Education. After you have passed the first class, the next class will be GCD Elf Principles & Practices. Once you graduate from that class, you will be required to go to the third class Etiquette Class. Your final classwork will be The GCD & You.

1q. What kind of oragnization is this?
1a. This organization is group of users who become elves to train, study, and prepare for gifting during the holday season in the GCD.

2q. You guys seem so serious? Why all the classes and preparation? Gifting is gifting...
2a. Being an elf DOES NOT EXEMPT YOU from following the rules and guidelines of Gaia Online or any of the forums - including the GCD. All too often, users think that belonging to a group exempts them from any forum's rules. The truth is, it doesn't. This also creates problems for the organization. Our schoolwork is, for the most part, easy - one of our classes should be as easy as pie.

3q. Where are your classes held?
3a. In this guild. You may review the classwork to see if it is something you can handle. All the work must be done before the deadline. If it is not done, then you don't gift. If you have any ideas on how to improve the course of study, please contact GCD Robo Elf.

4q. Can I choose my own elf persona?
4a. Yes.

5q. Can I choose what I want to gift?
5a. Yes.

6q. Can I gift outside the GCD?
6a. I'm sorry, but no. All elves must gift within the GCD.

7q. Do I have to create an elf account?

8q. Can I join the main elf guild without taking any of the classes?
8a. I'm sorry, but no. Once you have finished your classwork - and only when you have finished your classwork - can you join the main elf guild.

10q. Can I donate to any of the elves?
10a. Of course! I do ask that you state somewhere that the donation is personal - meaning for the elf, or public - meaning the gift is to be recycled back to users in the GCD.

13q. Why do you have to start one class before the other?
13a. The reason is, some of our elves are want to post in the fourms right away without reading the rules and stickies in the GCD. Because one of our classes actually ask you to go out and post, they should know the basics of the forum. That is why Basic Education is started as the first class. Because a firm learning in the site basics will help a new elf become a stronger character.
