- Thread Conduct
Most of this is common sense, but must be said regardless.
- Follow Gaia's TOS. This should go without saying.
- No stealing. All images and layouts are copyright Uoi'nota.
- Be literate. No chatspeak, and please attempt proper spelling & grammar.
- Pay promptly. All trades should be sent directly to the mule within 24 hours.
- Co-owning is only allowed for auctions. Even then, only two people may co own one pet.
- PM the Mule, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
- Do not flaunt the rules. You will be warned, then banned on your second offense.
Roleplay Rules
These are general rules, in-depth guidelines are found in the guild.
- No godmoding. Do not control or speak for another character.
- Do not give your pet special powers. Although they are born from nightmares,
they hunt and live as a normal pack.
Powers are reserved for Elders and a select few adults.
- Stay away from 1-liners. They just arent helpful. Try to add some details.
- Keep things PG-13. Anything beyond that, you may take off-site.
- RP is in-character. Remember not to take character grudges out of character.
Sale Rules
- Do not guilt-trip others out of a sale. Everyone has the right to participate.
- Do not buy a pet you do not have immediate funds for. If you can not pay,
this will result in a warning and your pet will be resold.
- Send all payments to the mule.
- If you lose, dont whine.
- If you win, dont gloat.

In the days of old, days long forgotten by man and his machines, the world was a much different place. Brimming with forest life and shining with the excellence of kings scarcely remembered, it was a time of wars for some, diplomacy for many, and hardships for all. Yet no matter what hardships the land faced, the ruling kingdom always promised sovereignty. Prosperity. Hope for a brighter future. Better future. Always better, always one filled with wealth and health and smiling children. For that purpose war is necessary! said the king to his followers, and they rallied in their battle-cries. But it was a strange war, for the prince of the enemy nation was deeply in love with the kingdom's princess. She was a lively sort; not particularly beautiful but pretty in her own rights, her knowledge, her political prowess. It was exactly that that allured the man so. So smitten was he, in fact, that he garbed himself to hide his status and fled the nation. He crept his way into the Sikluen Kingdom, and found the young woman when she was out speaking to the citizens. He spilled his heart out to her, appealed to her every tastes; he offered her the world's knowledge, contained in his libraries, feasts that even the gods would envy, and lush gardens that would always be tilled to suit her fancy.

That night, he set out for the marshlands out beyond the mountain's shadows, deep into the heartless forests whose thorns ate unprepared travelers alive. He made his way cautiously into the swamps, guided by his lantern as even the moon was too weary to pierce the thick canopy. He came to the alchemist's house, ideas churning through his mind like waves in a storm, he hushed his malicious excitement and entered. The aging man before him, busied with the inspection of some oddity or other, turned his head as soon as he heard the recognizable thump of a satchel of gold hitting his desk. He snatched it up greedily, demanded the prince's request, and as it was spoken his crooked-tooth smile widened unexpectedly. He knew just what he would do to complete this evil deed.
It was the night of the princess's wedding when the alchemist came sneaking into the kingdom; he posed as a simple merchant selling exotic rarities to royalty to get in past the guards. The princess and her newly wed husband had retired to the woman's quarters, which was exactly where the old man was headed towards. Many of the guards were still enjoying the festivities or were distracted by watching over the exterior of the castle, so those that normally patrolled the corridors were mostly otherwise distracted, making it easy for him to slip past the few that were stationed about. Soon he came upon the room he was after; the princess' quarters, guarded by only one sleeping patrolman. Keeping his footfalls silent, the old man quietly slipped into the dark room, his gnarled face distorted into a cruel smile.
"Who's there?" demanded the princess when light met her eyes. She sat up quickly, squinting towards the candlelight piercing in. But the room soon went dark again. "Love, someone is here." she whispered, touching her new husband's shoulder. He had been asleep but the disturbance had awakened him; he stood quickly, sheets tangled about his body, eyes angry and searching for an outlet. Soon, his eyes settled upon the sinewy shadow and he leaped forward; but much quicker than the man's feet were the alchemist's hands, and from a glass vial tied to his belt came a powerful, blinding blue light, and as the glass shattered specs freckled the cloud forming and from that came a sudden shot of blackness, as if evil itself had solidified and aimed itself straight towards the princess' husband. But he ducked, fell aside, and realized all too late that his instinctive reaction to save himself from whatever harm he might have befallen had redirected that evil towards his beloved young wife; he could only watch in horror as that black miasma engulfed her, slid down every opening into her body, shook her violently as if to break free her very soul. And, suddenly, the blackness spewed out of her, spiraling upon the floor like liquid evil, slowly forming a solid shape. And by the time that dark being came to exist, by the time that demon creature howled the most terrible cry imaginable, by the time its flesh caught fire and the room glowed red-orange-yellow, the princess was crying, back to the wall, too paralyzed with fear to attempt any sort of escape.
The beast suddenly sprang forward towards her and, as if he honestly believed he could do any good, the prince chased after it, shoving himself between the demon and his wife. But with a large, powerful paw, the creature flung him aside before he snapped his jaw tight around the woman's fragile body. The man could only look on in petrified terror as it tore her apart, limb from limb, vicious growls and painful shrieks melting into one unified sound of death.

"You killed her!" he screamed, grabbing up the nearest object and flinging it at the man.
"Be careful, you brat! That's expensive!" the man shrieked, barely dodging the glass jar and watching with great contempt as a corrosive liquid spilled into the wood floor. "You stupid child, that's what you get for messing with magic! I did what you requested. That whole place set afire, he could not have survived being in the room where the flames originated. Besides, you never said not to kill her, too." He scoffed, plopping himself down in a large, lush, red chair.
"I'll kill you!"
"Or!" the man said, barely managing to grasp the prince's attention to stop another jar of expensive chemicals from being tossed at his head. "You can become so rich and powerful, so revered and so feared, that you can get any woman you please." he offered, crooked teeth showing through his sinister smile.
"I wanted only one woman." The prince snarled, his fists clenching.
"You will find another."
"I will not!" He swept his arm across the table, shattering many glass vials and jars and sending a large portion of chemicals to the floor. Some mixed, puffing up green and red fumes, while others ate away the floorboards.
"Stop that, you stupid child! You'll kill us both!"
"Perfect!"
"I can bring her back." the man said, suddenly. The prince was caught off guard by this, but his emotions were temporarily held aback.

Barely able to contain his laughter, the man smiled cooly. "We must gather specific ingredients for the spell to work, young master. It will be difficult, but it will work."
"That could never happen."
"Are you so sure? Are you so sure you want to bet against my magic? Or would you rather die with the regret of knowing you didn't even try?"
Reluctantly, the prince calmed down, and after a few minutes of thought agreed to aid in the ritual to bring back his beloved. For her soul, he agreed to scour the corners of the world and bring back the rarest ingredients known to alchemy so that the spell could be completed.
Of course, the alchemist had different plans for those rare ingredients. Indeed, they had been used up in that night's fiasco, and he needed more if he planned to call forth more of his demons. His trial had proven that the nightmare demons could be born, and quite easily. And now, he had a pawn to go and fetch what he required so that he might call forth the beasts of hellish dreams; the Ikal'daka.

- Species Traits
Ikal'daka were created by Alphonse, who formed the first Ikal out
of nightmares. His meddling, however, in the dark forces proved to be
too much for him to control, and the Ikal have since given him the slip
and now are self-sufficient in the wild.
All Ikal are born with a sigil on their shoulderblade, which is the only
reminder that they were once branded to Alphonse's will.
Growth
Each stage takes about 2 weeks to complete, though RPed pets
can grow much faster, and complete growth in roughly a month.
- Newborn
At this stage Ikal'daka are extremely vulnerable, and weak.
They need a protector, and they are usually born in a pack.
However, if they are born outside of a pack, they need to find one.
Pup
During this time, they are still very vulnerable, and can not hunt
well on thieir own. If they're lucky, they can bring down small
game such as mice and young rabbits. They still need protection.

- Adolescent
When they reach this age, they are usually capable of being self-
sufficient. They can start finding a mate, though they cannot breed.

Adult
Adults are fully self-reliant if the need arises, though most stay within
the pack for easier hunting and security. They can breed, and even
split off with a mate to form their own pack.

- Elders
Elders are, of course, the oldest and wisest of the Ikal.
They can only be gained through significant RP or through
a heavy bribe. They have gone through much of life and their
power and wisdom is unmatched by any other Ikal.
