Spanning from horizon to horizon, Kells stretches in an unending expanse that none can claim to have seen the end of. The stories of its birth have been lost to time but many whisper that it has always existed, seeded at the creation of the world, the trees growing and dying in an unending, unbroken cycle of life. The largest trees soar into the clouds and the thickest canopies blot out even the sun. When one of the giants falls, it is quickly returned to the soil of its birth, eager seedlings reaching for the new swath of sunlight opened among the boughs above. The luckiest of Wolves is the one that sees a tree fall, because there is surely a Forest Spirit waiting in the shadows to bring in new life from this death.

Naming Rules
    • Kells wolves favor names with natural themes over more elaborate titles.
    • English translations of Native American names are good examples, if you need help with ideas. (e.g. - Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull, etc.)
    • Defining physical or habitual characteristics work well, as do plants and other animals.
    • For example, a few of our wolves are called White Rabbit, Wanderer, and Two Tone.
    • No double names! For instance, the shop has a Tiger, as well as a Tiger Lily and Tiger Eye. This is acceptable, but we cannot have two wolves named Tiger.

Dire Wolves of Kells
    • In Kells, wolves are kings. Roaming in packs, they rule the lands, stronger together than apart. There is no other creature like them in all of Kells. These wolves can grow to weigh anywhere between 75 and 145lbs, and stand anywhere from 4 to 6 feet tall when they are fully grown. Though they are the only large predator in Kells, it isn't uncommon for wolves to fight amongst themselves or rival packs.

Seers
    • From birth, these wolves have the gift of the far-seeing. As children, their visions are little more than glimmers in their eyes, but as they age, the visions become more vivid. The gift of Sight varies from seeing the past to the distant future and no two Seers share the same vision. Often considered the most powerful beings in all of Kells, they are extremely rare and can be distinguished from other wolves by their purple eyes.

Familiars
A familiar is an animal that has bonded with a wolf as an ally or friend. For a wolf, utilizing the unique talents of a familiar can be the best way to get through tough times.

Stages of growth
• Currently, hares cannot breed. This may change in the future. •

Hares
    • Some wolves would say that it is a bad idea to become friends with your food, but more than one has chosen a hare as a companion. Alert, quick and loving, the hare can definitively be useful. On the other hand, they are not always the most intelligence of creatures and can be extremely skittish, especially around wolves they don’t know.

Climate: warm during the spring and summer, colorful during fall, and icy come winter •

Legend says that deep in the forests of Kells, there was a place called Stonehenge. Ancestors traveled there for mysterious gatherings; and whether it was malevolent or sacred, all agree that it was a place steeped in magic. However, its true purpose and location have long been forgotten. All that remain are legends.

Current Holds of Kells

Kells Forest
    • Lush and teeming with life, Kells Forest is the largest and deepest in all of Kells. Nearly every wolf calls these woods home.

Kells Run
    • The cool, crystalline waters of Kells Run start their life in a northern lake and wind their way through Kells Forest where they mark the path to Redwood. For the most part, both river and lake are shallow enough for even pups to frolic in without too much trouble. However, these waters also hold great depths and their share of danger. Despite this, the wolves never seem to have any problem crossing them.

Redwood
    • Once said to be the most beautiful place in all of Kells, Redwood has withered to near-death. The leaves have fallen and decayed in a never-ending winter. The trees are barren and menacing. It is a cold place. There is very little left alive within its boundaries. However, the legendary Stonehenge was said to lie in this forest, perhaps lending to its former mystique, and it was about the time that the forest began to decay that Stonehenge vanished, forgotten.

Bluestone
    • A tall and proud guardian, the Bluestone mountain range encircles Kells, protecting it from the outside world. Closest to the lowlands, daring wolves may venture into its caves or seek out its secrets. However, as rock gives way to boulder and the slopes grow steeper, most either give up or are simply unable to continue. Nonetheless, it has been said that some wolves make Bluestone their home and have claimed it as their territory.
