...Am I Like THE ONLY Gaian That doesn't think MTV sponsoring gaia is a bad thing?

I mean come on MTV is one of the biggest music related companies in the world
They own VH1, MTV, MTV2, FUSE and many other International Music channels/corporations...
With such a HUGE sponsor, big things can happen...not to mention we get some pretty decent items out if it.

Yeah Gaia Makes Their Own Choices about how to go about things

I don't know, I just can't believe it without looking at the contracts myself or hearing it from the admins themselves >.>;

I mean... thing is... a company like MTV can come in and say, "Ok, we're going to give you $100k if you can help promote our show by adding a couple of new items. If that goes well, we'll give you more money for more items and to get more coverage on the site."
-- So yeah, to this respect Gaia can accept or decline, and maybe have some leeway on what items are created, but still, it's the sort of thing I mean.

I'm not sure if this is what happens with Gaia, but I know this happens at my own company and others that deal in e-commerce. :-S

They are not even really partnerships, so to speak. GAIA promotes them and they give them money.
But they have absolutely no say in ANYTHING else that GAIA does. The companies only invest in GAIA, they don't buy a part of it.

Well, yeah, obviously... in that respect I know and can accept that they're not "selling out" as I'm sure alot of other Gaians are trying to claim. But, there's still the potential for the admins to accept an offer which puts more control in a sponsors' hands for a specific part of the site.

Though, I remember an announcement from a long time ago, where Lanzer said they declined an offer because it wasn't in keeping with what they envisioned for Gaia's future, so I'm still quite confident in their intentions.

Just if a majority of the original Gaia founders start parting ways then I might get worried >.>;;

I think Gaia has attracted such a large community to it now that most companies are trying to lineup and get that unique sort of exposure that you can't find in many other places. I mean, you have alot of people on MySpace and Facebook, but this is so completely different... and just getting people into one forum talking about a movie/show/upcoming thing, creates a buzz. It's quite a smart marketting move really.
