Chef Em's Recipe Book These are all the recipes I have. They are easy and great for a busy mom or for a laid back lazy teenager. They will not disappoint, I promise.

The most important meal of the day
To have a good day you need to start off right. Breakfast can either make or break your day.
From the classics to the most fancy (and fantasic), these recipes will make your kids or husband/wife want to get up early.

Five-Minute Multigrain Cereal

What you'll need:

2Tbsp Quick-Cooking Barley
2Tbsp Bulgur (Cracked Wheat)
2Tbsp Old-Fashioned Oats, uncooked
2/3 Cup water
2Tbsp Raisins
Pinch of Cinnamon
1Tbsp Chopped Walnuts or Pecans
Low-Fat Milk (1%;Optional)

What you Do:

In a mircowave-safe 1-quart bowl, combine barley, bulgur, oats, and water. Microwave on HIGH 2 minutes. Stir in raisins and cinnamon; microwave 3 minutes longer. Stir, the top with walnuts. Serve with milk, if desired.


Buttermilk Pancakes

What you need:
1 3/4 Cups Buttermilk
3Tbsp Butter or Margerine, melted
1 Large Egg
1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
2Tbsp Sugar
2Tsp Baking Powder
1/2Tsp Baking Soda
1/2Tsp Salt
Vegetable Oil for Cooking

What you Do:
1)In blender, combine buttermilk, melted butter and egg and blend. Add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and blend just until combined.
2)Heat griddle or 12-inch skillet over MEDIUM heat until a drop of water sizzles when dropped in pan; brush lightly with oil. Pour batter by 1/4 cups onto griddle, making a few pancakes at a time. Cook until tops are bubbly and edges look dry. With wide spatula, turn and cook until undersid is golden. Transfer to a platter; keep warm.
3) Repeat with remaining batter, brushing pan or griddle with more oil as necessary.


Overnight Baked French Toast

What you'll need:
12 Slices Firm White Bread
6 Large Eggs
2 Cups Milk
1Tsp Vanilla Extract
1/4Tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/4Tsp Ground Nutmeg
Pinch of Salt
1/2 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
4Tbsp Butter or Margeine, Softened
1Tbsp Maple Syrup

What you Do:
1)Arrange bread slices in four stacks in 8-inch square baking dish.
2)In blender, combine eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and blend until mixture is smooth. Slowly pour egg mixture over bread slices; press bread down to absorb egg mixture, spooning egg mixture over any uncoated bread. Cover and refridgerate overnight.
3)Preheat oven to 350F. In small bowl, stir brown sugar, butter, and maple syrup until combined. Spread evenly over each stack of bread. Bake until knife inserted 1-inch from center comes out clean, about 1 hour. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.


Aspargus Omelet

What you need:
1/8Tsp Coursely Ground Black Pepper
4 Ounces Gruyere Cheese, Shredded (1 Cup)
1 Pound Asparagus, Trimmed
8 Large Eggs
1/2Tsp Salt
1/2 Cup Cold Water
4Tsp Butter or Margerine

What you Do:
1)In a deep 12-inch skillet, heat 1 inch of water to boiling over HIGH heat.
Sprinkle Pepper over Cheese and set aside.
2Add asparagus to skillet; return water to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer,uncovered, just until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water. Drain and set aside.
3)In medium bowl, with wire whisk, beat eggs, salt, and cold water.
4)Place non-stick 8-inch skillet over MEDIUM heat and melt 1 Tsp butter. Pour in 1/2 cup egg mixture; cook, gently liftin edge of eggs with heat-safe rubber spatula and tilting pan to allow uncooked egg to run underneath, until eggs are set, about 1 minute. Sprinkle 1/4 of cheese mixture over half of omlet; top with 1/4 asparagus spears. Fold unfilled omelet half over filling and slide onto warm plate. Repeat with remaining butter, egg mixture, and filling, If desired, keep omelets warm in 200F oven until all are cooked.
