The little things and how they matter...
this is where you'll probably find the nonsense from the guy with his head in the clouds...
"Guns of Fate" Ch. 2
Now that I'm finally getting the story moving, I'll do a quick character introduction (Since I really didn't do that in the story). So far, we have two main characters:

Chris, a 16 year old guy with a rather carefree attitude. He has a light tan, has shoulder length hair and is lean and slightly muscular. He's not much of a planner and speaks his mind often. He has the Howling Moon Revolver.

Katherine (a.k.a Kat), a 17 year old girl who's always been there for Chris. Since Chris often times does what he wants, she's often worried that he's gonna do something stupid. She's slightly shorter than Chris, has long blonde hair and is strong, although she looks weak by appearance.

And now for the last chapter's recap:

Shortly after Chris discovers a strange gun in his attic, his friend Kat tells him of his parent's death just outside of town. Swearing revenge, Chris packs his bags and prepares to go on a journey to hunt down their killer. Once he reached the edge of town, he found Kat waiting to go with him and unwilling to take no for an answer. And so, the two of them walk off into the night.

Now time for the next chapter!

CH. 2

I had no idea how long we walked before we realized that we didn't have a destination to head to. When I realized this, I looked around. I couldn't see anything beyond plateaus and cacti. Not to mention that it was even too dark to even see my own footprints. I looked at Kat. She was staring back at me, and I was almost certain that she had an annoyed look on her face, although it was too dark to tell.

"Something wrong Kat?" I made the mistake of asking.

"Do you even know where we're going?"

"Uh... Not really..."

"What do you mean, not really!? I've been following you this whole time thinking you were leading us to another town or something like that."

I didn't need to see her face to know she was pissed.
"Why don't we stop here and pick up in the morning?"

Silence. But I could hear her gathering twigs. So I started gathering some as well. We piled them together and started a fire. Then Kat started rummaging through her pack. She pulled out a package of hot dogs and two kabobs. It was quiet while we roasted them. Then Kat broke the silence.

"Ok, I can understand that you'd want revenge. Most people would. But what are you going to do when you find who you're looking for? How are you going to even find him?"

These were good questions. Questions I hadn't given myself time to think about.

"I'll try to find him by going on what I know. The killer had a wide-brimmed hat and a strange-looking rifle. Then, when I find him, I'll make him pay."

Kat just sighed and shook her head. I could only assume that she didn't understand.

Then she looked at me. "That's just it. How do you plan to make him pay? Charge him money?"

"With this." I pulled out the revolver. Kat looked horrified.

"Where did you get that!?"

"It was in my attic. I'm not sure if it works. I haven't even tried it yet."

The look in her eyes didn't change. Her eyes still shone with fear. I don't think it was fear of the gun, but some other kind of fear. I put the gun away.

"What's wrong?"

"Promise me something Chris."

"What?"

"Promise me that you'll never kill anyone with that gun."

"But the killer-"

"Promise me or I'll leave right now and you'll never see me again!"

I could tell how serious she was. "...I promise..."

"Promise what?"

"I promise not to kill anyone."

The fear in her eyes began to recede. "Thank you."

The rest of the night was quiet. we finished off the hot dogs and then turned in for the night. I had a dream of all the good times I had spent with my parents. How kindly they had treated me, even if I did something rotten. Suddenly, I was shaken out of sleep.

"Hey, wake up!"

I woke up to Kat's face. the sun was just beginning to rise. "What'd you wake me for?"

"You were crying in your sleep. Now get up. We have to plan out where we're going."

I sat up. She had a map and a compass out. I was amazed at how prepared she was. I rolled up my blanket and sat next to the map.

"Ok, we left town last night from the west side and walked for about two hours at a decent pace, which should put us about here." She pointed at a spot on the map. "The nearest town is about 5 or so miles northwest from here. If we leave now and keep up a decent pace, we should be there before noon. Got it?"

"Uh, yeah, I guess..." I wasn't good with maps at all. "You lead the way, ok?"

She sighed. "I knew you'd say that. Come on. We're leaving now."

So we gathered up our stuff and started on our way again. Like Kat said, we got to the next town just before noon. But, it didn't look like things were going well when we got there. Someone was robbing the bank, and it looked like they were well armed.
