I was thinking that since we have so many posts of stuff we've done, funny situations, and how to fix cosplays, it'd be nice to get a list together of what not to do. If you comment in this thread, I'll add your suggestion to the list.
1~ Don't half-a$$ your cosplay.
2~ Don't dress up like one character, and act like another.
3~ Don't leave your costume at home!
4~ Don't be a little conceited b***h about your costume.
5~ Don't be rude when people want to take a picture of you/your costume
6~Don't forget to thank people who compliment your costume!
7~Don't make a weapon you can't control(as in, you don't want to be whacking people with it every time you turn around)
8~Don't get TOO in character and piss off all your friends when you're being a snot cause you're "in character."
9~ Don't use small, high voices just to try and be cute. It isn't cute at all.
10~Don't go up to someone dressed as your love interest and hang all over them.
11~Don't expect them to want to talk to you because you are dressed as love interests.
12~ Don't worry about others negative opinions of the character, series, your cosplay, or cosplaying in general. Your choice, you put in the effort, and if they don't like it, they can shove it.
13~Don't look at others' costumes and say oh, they are so much better than mine. Be proud of yours. On the contrary, don't brag or comment negatively on others' costumes.
14~Don't step on other people's costumes.
ESPECIALLY DRESS TRAINS.
15~Be careful of where you spit your gum. It can end up on someone's costume. That stuffs hard to get off! :[
16~If you spray-painted your hair or a wig, watch out for other people and their costumes! That stuff rubs off!
17~Don't random tackle someone you don't know.
18~Don't scream in a cosplayer's ear who is cosplaying your favorite character.
19~Don't forget to bring those fan/spray bottles for those hot days in layered costumes.
