I did study on my own rather than take classes. I can't say I "learned" on my own since much of what I learned was from books I've read. But I did study on my own and just pick up things over the years. ^^

If you want to learn to draw people, I highly recommend Andrew Loomis' books. They're public domain, so you can find them online. They are immensely helpful. =3
