                                                  Class definition :

                                                  Offensive

Fire Punch : Kai ignites his elbow for a hard hitting punch. He can also coat his fist in fire for additional damage. This is rarely used as he prefers to fight with his sword rather then his hands.

Fire Slash : Kai runs fire down his blade. The fire will continue even if the strike is blocked distracting and burning opponents in the process. The more determined he is in the battle the more powerful and hotter this fire will be.

Fire breath : Kai takes a deep breath of air and warms it in his lungs to spit out a cone of hot flame. The longer he takes to prepare the hotter and more powerful the fire is. A brief preparation is only going to distract while a lengthy one will cause severe damage to anyone caught in it.

Fire Ball : Your typical runn of the mill fireball. These are fairly fast but provide more concussive force then fire damage. He'll use these to create openings for more powerful attacks with either his fire or his blade.

Fire Bomb : It looks like a normal fire ball but this orb of fire will never actually connect with enemies. Instead it's supposed to explode right before them, washing flames over them in a wide area.

Fire Barrage Fires a barrage of fire balls and fire bombs at his target. Only beings of fire can walk out of an attack like this unscathed though it's possible to shield yourself from most of the damage.

Combust : Creates a series of flames around the target that race together. Once in close proximity the flames explode into fireballs to prevent the target from using cover to escape the flames.

Fire Goddess's Word : A powerful blast of fire from the mouth. Depending on what word used the effects are different

Gau'Ju : A small compact beam used for penetrating defenses, there is no charge time required for this attack and takes little of Kai's considerable energy reserve.

Gau'Gurah : A wide beam meant to hit an area. There is a lot more power behind this attack then Gau'Ju and it will take a toll on Kai's reserves.

                                                  Defensive

Fire Wall : Kai creates a wall of fire before him to block attacks. This works against both magic and physical attacks though it's more suited versus physical attacks.

Fire Shield : Similar to Fire Wall but instead of a wall it creates a bubble of fire to protect an area from attack.

                                                  Ascension

For his service to the goddess of fire Kai has been granted a secondary form for him to use in combat. Once activated Kai takes on the form of the Fire Godess' knight, the knight of passion. His fire changes from black to gold and is under Kai's complete control, it can't even hurt his allies, it merely feels warm to them, the feeling of his passion to defend them. The armor itself is created from fire given form and can be restored quickly after being damaged, almost like it's being healed. All of his fire attacks are also considerably stronger and his body becomes supercharged.

Final Sermon : Massive blast of concentrated fire fueled by both his rage and his god force. Consists of Inferno beams from both hands and Fire God's word. The inferno beams serve to penetrate whatever defenses were created with Fire God's word serving as the actual strike that does damage. In terms of blocking spells these two count as separate entities.

Wings of Fire : The fire flowing from his back makes flight for Kai more natural but he can still use propulsion for speed. These wings are basically tendrils of fire close together and can be used to shield allies. These tendrils can be used to grab at people or objects. To enemies they burn like a sun, to allies they are merely warm. These tendrils are hard to cut through and will regrow when damaged.

                                                  Utility

Hell Raiser : injects the ground with his fire magic, transforming the nearby area into a hellish landscape of fire and molten rock. Works as area denial and disrupts combatants in the affected area.

Purgatory : A series of flame pillars form from the ground. This can be used to keep someone pinned or to control an area. The more energy put into it the bigger and hotter they are.

Life sense : Through Kai's many near death experiences he's gained the ability to sense the life of people in the area. This is done through the 'fire' in their hearts and souls.

Fire propulsion : Kai expels fire from his body up to a point where he can use the resulting force to move his body. Through extensive training he's become able to use this as a form of flight.

                                                tab tab tab tab BIOGRAPHY

Adam was born on the fortress world of Cadia, a planet purely dedicated to protecting the Imperium from the Eye of Terror. The Eye of Terror is a breach in reality where raw power from the Immaterium spills into reality. Every black crusade has started with Cadia being the first target and in the past twelve crusades it has never fallen. Like most Cadian youths he was recruited early on in the WhiteShield regiments. Military service was part of standard education for Cadians. He was thirteen at that time when a shortage of military personel in the Cadia sector and his regiment was sent off to fight pirates and slavers. Most of the 'real' troops were on standing orders to defend the sector or were on loan to other battlegroups. It was during these three years of deployment that he was able to prove his worth. WhiteShield regiments that are sent off to combat typically suffer from disasterous casualty rates but those that survive tend to become excellent soldiers. During boarding action Adam showed the ability to think quickly on his feet and a natural knack for technology.

Had he been in another type of outfit he might have been made an engineer of sorts but considering his military skills they decided to give him a different training. At the age of fourteen he was detached from his now depleted regiment and sent off to the Elite Military Academy in Cadia where he was trained to become a Karskin with a specialization in technology. What followed was an intense training regime that lasted three years and involved a few minor biological enhancements to improve physique and muscle mass for improved performance in the field. With his training completed he was sent to Karsk Indominatus, one of the many massive fortresses that protect the planet from invasion. From there he served during minor incursions and assisted with the training of standard infantry before requesting a transfer. Serving as the garrison of a Karsk was an honorable job without a doubt but... he wanted more. He wanted more action. The transfer request led to being assigned to a Karskin team that was sent to serve with the fleet as specialized boarding troops.

With his skill and dedication he was made a squad sergeant after two years where his squad earned a reputation for efficiency and tenacity. His missions ranged from sabotage via teleportarium to outright capturing the vessel, something that his people absolutely excelled at. His greatest prize had been a battlecruiser called 'Imperial Justice' whose captain had rebelled. Through his actions the once venerable vessel was returned to the Emperor's service. It was that action that had led to him being made a lieutenant, an honor that was rarely bestowed upon someone of low birth like him. As was typical of new battlefield commissions he was taken off active service. Given his experience in training personnel he was sent off to Galbraxis Secundus to help them with their Storm Trooper program. The move angered him, especially when he later heard that shortly after his departure his squad had been killed in action. Rather then give into hatred he focused on his work, assisting the populace with their training program.

It turned out that his service was desperately needed too as he quickly used his expertise in close quarters assaults to help the local guard deal with a sudden influx of cults. Dozens of cults were eradicated every week but it seemed like there was no end. Eventually all hell broke loose and massive sections of the populace and indeed the planetary defense regiments turned to the dark gods. Ever the faithful servant he followed his final order. He took a squad of his best trainees and led an infiltration mission deep into the enemy's command and control center. A Liberation fleet had been sent to recapture the planet but any forces that would attempt a landing would be shot down if the planetary defense grid was still up. Through a bloody mission that cost the lives of his squad he was able to plant charges in the enemy command and control center only to find out that they lacked the punch. A moment later he saw the skies darken overhead, a bombardment was incoming. His charges were purely meant to paint a target for artillery to do the real job. While he didn't die in the resulting explosions he was badly injured and only his Cadian grit was what had allowed him to survive until he was 'salvaged'.

                                                tab tab tab tab PERSONALITY

Adam is someone that's dedicated to his service. He's proud, tenacious and well aware of his strengths and weaknesses. His biggest character flaw is probably that he's incapable of saying no to a superior. Because of this he has been dealt a shitty hand by his superiors which has led to the suffering for both himself and his friends. These events have led to him being somewhat bitter as opposed to his usual cheerful if slightly reserved personality. In the past he took on hard missions with bravado and excitement but that has been erased under the crushing heel of fate.

The city that he lived was in the process of upgrading it's 'security' by installing more cameras. While he wasn't affiliated with the people that installed those cameras he was responsible for writing the software that allowed the footage to be analized. See there was just far too much data that had to be processed by hand so software was required. The twenty three year old male was somewhat of a prodidgy at these matters having graduated from his university at the age of twenty one. Data analyis had always fascinated him and that was partly because of his abilities. Aside from being the 'genius' he was also one of the mutants that had started to surface in society. He was able to feel shockwaves, down to people's very footsteps and was able to create fairly powerful ones as well. It was the former however that had let him to try to discover just how much there was to the world and had led him down to the career that he had now set up for himself.

Zec looked down at his blade for a moment before looking at his travelling companion. He'd met the man by accident really, an incident that neither of them should have gotten involved in. When he thought about it, it had been such a dumb thing to get involved in but they had. Each for their own reasons but honestly they were rather valid ones. "Y'know Zakhyn my buddy. I still haven't figured out whether meeting you has been a gift or a curse." Looking down again he ran the cloth over his somewhat oversized blade. They had just ended another skirmish with a group of scouts that were trying to hunt them down after they started their first fight with the local forces. "That's got to be the third group by now right?" Not sure if the man was going to actually vocalize his reply. "Still we'll manage. So far the people that they've sent after us are dumber then a bag of rocks."

Maybe it was a bit harsh to describe his former colleagues like that but perhaps it was just due to the fact that his companion's remarkable accuracy with a throwing knife robbed them of their potentially competent leadership before skirmishes even started. He'd likely never know but honestly he didn't really care either way, so long as they just died before him it was all good. Once he was done with the rag he inspected the weapon one last time before nodding to himself. He'd take a whet blade to it later but they had been sitting around long enough for now. Zakhyn was done with his maintenance as well so they headed out once more, staying just off the beaten path. The basic idea was to keep it as a guideline for their travels while making sure that they didn't attract any unwanted attention.

So one might ask, how did a deserter and an assassin get to meet each other on relatively friendly terms? It all happened about a week ago at a checkpoint. See there were rumors that the Avatar was in the region. Personally Zec didn't much care for that, in fact he disliked that the b*****d was here. It drew far too much attention to the region and he was trying to keep somewhat of a low profile. Either way the checkpoint's official goal was to fish out the Avatar but what it really did was extort merchants and travellers. Sure it pissed him off but it wasn't like they were actively hurting people right? He'd seen some checkpoints like that but they always seemed to just... disappear behind him. It was something he couldn't figure out but it also didn't matter so long as they were stopped. This one however, was probably not that bad but the locals didn't seem to think so.

One guy lost his s**t and drew a dagger. The fool had tried to stab the guard that was leering at his younger daughter but that just got him killed. It turned out that the guards had been itching for a fight and were all too eager to cut loose. In the end however they ended up facing Zec and Zakhyn, something that they just couldn't handle. Zec ended up crossing blades with Zakhyn just once before the both of them realized that they were not each other's enemies. They had bigger monsters to slay so they did just that. Whenever Zec worked he killed some of the bigger creatures that threatened towns with locals calling them monsters but by now he'd seen enough of the world to know that mankind was the real monster.

If there was an avatar out there... he wished the guy all the luck in the world because fixing this s**t wasn't going to be easy.

Zec frowned when Zakhyn mentioned that he had fought an extra group due to having encountered them during a scouting run. "Y'know. That sure sounds like the sort of thing one might want to mention in casual conversation." He muttered but figured that there was little use to it. While the man was a great fighter and a genuine pleasure to have by your side in a scruff, he really wasn't the greatest talker. As such he'd never really bothered to ask the man much about his past and the like, he knew he wasn't going to get a straight answer. Though if he had to be honest with himself he'd probably do the same to the man so he couldn't really give the assassin any kind of s**t for it. Well... not too much s**t anyway.

After his intial comment he continued to diligently clean his blade and then got up. However it was then that the man jinxed them. It was something that he was completely and uterly sure of. If looks could have killed the man he would have wiped out the man's entire family history with the look he gave him. Why did he care so much? Well simple really, he was incredibly superstitious. It was something that he had picked up from his parents given the type of work that they did. Any work that involved danger typically resulted in all manners of weird beliefs and it had stuck with Zec so far and it was likely going to continue for years to come. "You just jinxed us you b*****d." Zec growled and sprang up to his feet, looking around for any kind of threat that was nearby but it seemed that there was no such thing. However just when he relaxed and turned towards Zakhyn to apologise an arrow whipped past his head. Had he not turned around it would have hit him right between the eyes alright. So instead he glared at the man for a moment longer before using his sword as a shield against the next fed arrows.

Every now and then he was able to peek around his weapon to see what they were dealing with. A handful of normal soldiers which wasn't really that much of a problem but he spotted a trio of benders, one earth bender and two fire benders by the looks of it. When he glanced over at Zakhyn he could see that the both of them had come to the same conclusion as to who the biggest threat was. An Earthbender could lock them in place with ease and then they would be lost right then and there. With the benders in front it seemed like they were having a bit of a break. The benders were no doubt officers of a sort. He pushed forwards and saw Zakhyn by the side. To get their attention he hurled the few daggers that he still had at the benders. Now he wasn't an artist like Zakhyn was with them but it got their attention alright. The Earthbender bringing up a wall of earth to protect himself.

He didn't see what Zakhyn did to the man but he heard a satisfying thud followed by a series of curses. In that distraction Zec rushed forward, bull rushing

User ImageHavoc wasn't all that sure what Sam was thinking in letting the woman go. As far as soldiers came she was one of the most dangerous he had ever seen. It wasn't just her skills or the enhancements that she had. Hell it wasn't even her experience. Rather it was because of her determination. The woman had an iron will, the kind that not even Istas and his ilk had been able to bend, not completely anyway. In his experience those were the kinds that continued to cause trouble until they were put into the ground in a permanent fashion. His stance on the woman wasn't helped by the fact that he had treated her properly and with honor only to have it tossed into his face. He doubted that he was going to show her the same courtecy a second time. Everyone had their limits.

The mission that they were given was one that confused im a fair bit. While he was smarter and wiser then most mercenaries he was a warrior first and foremost. Still considering that what data they had on the creatures suggested a melee preference it did make sense for him to be there. Between all of the forces available there was little doubt that he was the most dangerous up close. To augment that Sam had taken the time to augment Havoc's already impressive blade. The unknown aliens were theorized to use some form of energy blade. While it was a oncept that was well understood by human society it wasn't used because of power requirements. Whatever these alies used as a power source it would still lead to much the same result in terms of weaponry. Now his weapon would be able to stand up against even those kinds of weapons and Sam remarked that the blade would even be capable of carving through starship hulls, a truly impressive feat.

Once on the ground he let the scouting to Zara and Ronin as he took up a rear guard position to make sure that they weren't attacked from the rear. While he picked up some movement behind them it appeared to be just local wildlife when he concentrated on it. However when Zara and

Prince Zeck Terryn stood at the bridge of house Terryn's transport vessel. Despite being a transport vessel it was well defended by massive banks of macro cannons and plasma torpedos while powerful void shields protected it from return fire. Yet even that wasn't enough as a Mechanicus escort fleet surrounded it to make sure that the Terryn Knights inside were safe. That was how valued a detachment of Knights was for even the cold hearted tech priests. If was a strange relationship between the two, the knights were temperamental in the extreme where as the Mechanicus calculated everything before making their move. But that was the might that the Knights brought to the battlefield. It wasn't just the raw firepower that they carried, or their ability to tear open a Titan if they got up close. No their massive striding form served to inspire the grunts on the battlefield and many a battle had been won by Knights leading the charge, by getting those behind them to follow and by destroying everything before them in equal measure.

To his side a screen popped up with a message but he ignored it at first as he heard a sound behind him. An arm slipped around his side and he felt a warm figure press into him. "I was wondering when you two would join me." He uttered with a grin and turned briefly to give his consort, Alicia, a brief but loving embrace. "My dear. You have an inquisitorial message waiting for you. Not the sort of message you should leave hanging." Zeck looked over to the message and scowled at it. Honestly he didn't have time for the Inquisition's games right now but Alicia moved in to open the header of the message so they could see who it was from. "Inquisitor Macross is it? If memory serves he entertained you at that dreadful ball on Vintaris." He could hear a soft laugh at his side at that. "Yes. It was a pleasure really, it's not often one gets to dance with an inquisitor and his protegé is quite lovely as well." Terryn was silent for a little while longer and then activated the message that had been waiting for about a minute now.

"Ah! Prince Zeck, time has done you well I see. The situation on this planet h-" Kai started only to be cut off by a smiling Zeck. "No need for formalities Inquisitor. I'm familiar with the situation down there and I know you wish to petition for my House to send a detachment to aid you against the Xenos. We've been fighting in the Damocles Gulf for three years now and are on our way home." The Inquisitor had bristled at being interrupted by the man but had been holding his tongue. Knights were rather known for their attitude, even when it came to the Inquisition and it was barely tolerated. "We were hoping to rest and train new initiates but... well. You have done my consort a service a few years ago and I intend to pay it back. We are changing our course and will arrive in half an hour. Expect us to hit the ground running. The Emperor protects." Then he waited long enough for Kai to react before cutting the feed. "There are ways to be more cordial my love." Alicia uttered as she pecked his cheek. "The Emperor doesn't require me to be cordial to defeat his enemies." He replied and got another smile from his love.

With that he turned to head towards the vault where all the Knight Suits were in storage with Sacrisants tending to them. As he did so he got a little tug from Alicia. Her words were unspoken and he didn't turn to face her. "I will return to you my love. It'll take more then those damned blueberries can hurl at me to keep me from returning to your embrace." He knew that while she was proud of what he did on the battlefield she also worried for him. Given what the galaxy looked like (and she understood it a lot better then he did), he understood those fears of her. But for a Knight there could be no fear, such a thing was purged when one took their place on the Throne Mechanicum where the Knight became one with his armor. But a Knight Suit was no mere piece of armor, to pilot it you had to bond with it in every sense of the word. Every previous Knight's personality and memories were stored within the suit and left their impression on the current Knight. To state that it was life changing was the understatement of the millenium.

He was in the process of gearing up for his bonding with suit, The Edge of Redemption, when the techpriest in charge of the escort came in over the vox. The half man, half machine spoke to him in angry binary cant and he waited for it to finish. "If you want something from me you'll have to adress me in my language." Of course Zeck had implants to understand binary chant but this techpriest was a bit too posessive for his tastes. A Knightly House was typically either directly affiliated with the Imperium or the Cult Mechanicus but his house was a bit different. Officially they were strictly affiliated to the Imperium but their close proximity the forgeworld of Gryphonne IV has resulted in strong indirect ties to the Cult Mechanicus. The world's own Titan legion, the mighty Legio Gryphonicus had a blood kinship with house Terryn due to some of their princeps being cousins of the Terryns. It was because of this that occasionally the techpriests entertained the thought that the Terryns were their property. Something that Zeck knew his father would never agree to. Of course should Gryphonne petition for aid they would almost always get it. The petition was a formality but also a sign of respect and to a Knight, respect was everything along with honor.

"I'll make it simple while you try to get what's left of your throat to work. By my standards I owe a dept to the people on the planet we're heading to. If we were to lower those standards the same would apply to our eagerness to aid your ilk Techpriest. We don't compromise on our standards, lest we be but savages. House Terryn's bond with Gryphonne IV is one of friendship, not servitude. Don't interrupt my business again." It was a comment that could start quite the messy incident but he was well aware that this specific techpriest was a bit of a pushover. Not that Zeck had discovered this by himself of course, Alicia was a true genius when it came to subtlties, whether it was at court back home or here when dealing with 'alies'. She completed him when he wasn't one with his armor. Alicia's information was accurate as always as he heard the priest bristtle briefly. "As you wish Prince Terryn... but we will not be joining the battle." Zeck couldn't argue against that and frankly he didn't want them on the battlefield anyway. Someone had to keep the transport safe. "Then that concludes our business. The Emperor protects." Again the techpriest bristled but didn't comment. "Blessings of the Omnisiah to you."

With that last bit taken care of he strode towards his machine and pressed his hand to the cool Adamantium plating. While 'Redemption' was technically inactive he could still feel it's lust for battle. "Soon." He spoke calmly as the Sacrisants prepared it for activation while helping him up to take his throne. Only a Knight could understand what it meant to sit on the throne. The suits weren't piloted by controls like your average vehicle. No it was controlled by melding your mind with the ancient machine, essentially becoming the machine itself. The systems themselves were advanced beyond anything else in the Imperium allowing these massive machines to move with grace usually associated with Eldar vehicles. But there was a price, few had the fortitude to establish the link in the first place with many an illfitting aspirant being rendered braindead. Aside from that there was the chemicals and hormones that the machine pumped into the user to facilitate the connection which rendered it impossible for women to operate the machine. Yet even if they could control the suit there came a price afterwards. Prolongued use could wear the user out as they are unaware of their own body for the duration of the bond and cases of addiction to either the drugs or the feeling of being a towering engine of war were not unheard of.

Together with his force of eighteen knights he endured the bond being initiated but the pain faded quickly as it was replaced with the feeling of absolute power at his fingertips. All the while Alicia and the other consorts had assembled to head down to the surface to inform their allies of the impending charge. They had done so in a shuttle painted in the Terryn colours, a vibrant blue with golden highlights. It touched down near the Kai's command ship where the inquisitor himself was waiting along with his command staff. The sixteen women walked down the ramp in their resplendant dresses, each of them carrying themselves with pride and dignity with some of them being in various stages of pregnancy. "Good evening Inquisitor. A pleasure to see you again. The same to you miss, I did adore the brief time we spoke." She uttered pleasantly before turning to the others present to greet them politely with full name and title. "While I'm usually rather fond of formalities it would be best to get started. The Knights are about to deploy in front of your battle line to punch a hole. I assume you would like us to concentrate on the Xenos' ballistic suits during the charge?" Kai found himself dipping his head lightly. "I appreciate your lord's sense of urgency. It would be best to get rid of the xenos as soon as possible." With that Kai moved to hand out orders to finalize the preparations for the assault so that they would all be ready for when the knights arrived.

Back in orbit the Knights had all bonded with their armor and were giving their commander status reports. All eighteen of them were ready for battle and eager to take the fight to the Tau. Having received footage of the enemy force they knew that there were plenty of big targets for them to tear through. They were going to deploy in three identical groups of six knights, each in a wedge formation with a champion up front and the commander right behind them with the rest on the flanks. It was a tried and true assault formation that had breached many a line, be it Eldar, Ork or in this case the Tau. "Vitraxis. You and your lance take the left flank. Baltis go right. I will push up the center. All knights focus fire on enemy heavy battlesuits. Priority is as follows, Riptide, Stormsurge and Ghostkeel. Unless they actively threaten your rear armor you are to ignore crisis teams. As for the Supremacy armor they have in play. That piece of Xenos filth is all mine." With the orders handed out all the Knights moved into their drop pods as he selected a target for landing. Due to having spent two years fighting side by side with the Black Templar chapter he had developped a liking for aggressive combat drops into the enemy line. However a quick inspection of the Tau formation told him that such a thing would just lead to them being shot out of the sky. Such a landing might work against the Orks and their like but not against the advanced Tau forces.

Instead he went for a more conventional landing by dropping in near the Inquisitor's forces to breach the enemy line from the front rather then above. It would allow the rest of the Imperial forces to follow the Knights in so that they could do some bashing of their own. On the flip side it would allow them to salvage the situation if the charge went horribly wrong. That said he had no doubt that their assault would drive home. Eighteen knights was overkill for a theatre of war such as this but he was humoring the Inquisitor and he didn't want to have any of his knights complaining about being held back. No it was best to just throw all of them at the wall to break it down proper and give everyone the satisfaction of having destroyed Xenos filth. Once everyone was in their armor he triggered the launch causing all drop pods to lurch towards the surface with all due haste. "The Emperor protects." He uttered and heard his knights repeat the phrase.

The collection of ceramite plated drop pods hit the ground with earth shattering strength causing shockwaves to ripple all the way to the Tau lines. Some of the Imperial soldiers that had been caught off guard were knocked off their feet. Then just like an Astartes drop pod assault the transports popped open to unload their lethal cargo on the battlefield. The battlefield was still covered with dust when a single hunting call could be heard piercing the shocked silence. A moment later the sound was repeated by seventeen different sources. Then the ground started to shake once more as the towering engines of destruction began their march. A howl filled the air as the knights with carapese mounted missile launchers unleashed their first volley of fire. The Tau's missile defense systems intercepted many of them but even so the Tau fire line became pocketted with craters as fire warriors were blown apart under the missile barrage. In return the Tau's heavy ballistic suits returned fire causing the dustcloud to swirl violently as energy beams passed through without hitting any of the Knights. Seconds later the tripple spearhead formation of the Knights burst from the cloud with weapons blazing. Rapid-fire battlecannons blasted away at enemy formations while Avenger Gattling Cannons tore through infantry formations and vehicles alike. Those armed with Thermal cannons watched their comrades blast away as they prepared themselves for their own brand of destruction. Theirs was a close range weapon but it was the most destructive one of all.

Now that they were in the open however the advanced weapon systems that the Tau possessed was going to hit home. Ion shields were deployed to the front but even they could fail if hit hard enough. To the side he saw Galantari stumble as several volleys from Ion Accelerators and Pulse Driver Cannons but the veteran held on, managing to recover rather then succumb to hostile fire. Then Galantari was hit again, this time by a thick beam that punched clean through the armor and came out the other side. They were in range of the Supremacy suit now and it had claimed it's first kill. At the sudden loss of their comrade the Knights didn't feel fear or worry. All they could feel now was rage and the need to drive their weapons home. Zeck's own Reaper chainsword stood poised to tear through the enemy but he had to wait a little longer.

They had crossed half of the distance by the time that the Tau unleased weaponry that caused the ground to shake all the harder. The gargantuan supremacy armor unleased it's ordinance. The ground rumbled and the blasts were bright enough to overload the suit's senses. It felt, sounded and looked like the Apocalypse but house Terryn's charge continued on. Once he could see again he saw that two more of his Knights had fallen. "Foul Xenos..." He growled through gritted teeth as small arms fire splashed against his armor. They were close now. The firepower that was unleashed by both sides tore through the battlefield with the Tau infantry being the real victims of the duel. Another salvo from the heavy guns impacted the formation of charging adamantium but this time there were no more casualties. The Tau could see how close the Knights were now, their fear was palpable in the air and to Zeck it was delicious. They were close enough now that the torse mounted machine guns could enter the fray, the high calibre machine guns tearing through infantry and battlesuit alike.

But then they finally connected after a prolonged charge, charging the Tau like this was always dangerous due to their ability to project immense amounts of firepower but once up close... Well the Tau were hardly close combat specialists, in fact they were outright terrible and they knew it. They did everything they could to keep their enemies at range or to kill them before they got close enough but here they had failed and now house Terryn was upon them. Once more the hunting horns sounded, blasting the Tau defenses with a wall of amplified sound before finally crashing into them. At this close range the thermal cannons unloaded, sending concentrated blasts of plasma into enemy battle suits and tanks that all but vaporized them in an instant. Infantry was crushed underfoot while tanks were flipped over but the real target of the charge were the heavy suits further back. At this point there was nothing that could save the Tau, they had gotten their shots in and now it was time for House Terryn to get their pound of flesh.

To his side he could see his herald dive into one of the Tau stormsurges, staying low to avoid the oversized gun so that he could tear through the xenos construct up close. The sight of his comrades unleashing destruction filled him with a zeal to do the same. Where as his Knights were targetting enemies that were their size or smaller, his prey was much bigger then his own suit. It should have terrified him, it should have filled him with fear but instead all he felt was excitement. As the massive construct swung it's arm at him he dived under it, his chainsword howling with thirst before he plunged it up into machine to sever the servos of one of it's legs. While he hadn't done enough damage to cause it to topple he fired a point blank shot at the weakened leg with his thermal cannon to finish the job. Groaning the towering war machine started to crumble towards the ground but it's weaponry was still as dangerous as ever.

He forced his suit to dive forward and away from the crashing machine only to move back and mount the fallen machine. Defensive fire splashed against his armor, the burst cannons and smart missiles posing no threat to him so his shields didn't even activate. It was then that he realized that the pilots were trying to escape with a hatch opening near the top. He gritted his teeth, feeling insulted that what could have been a good kill was now tainted due to his enemy's cowardice. "Cowards die in shame." He growled and fired a blast from his thermal cannon into the machine's control center killing the crew. A few had already gotten out and were quickly gunned down by his armor mounted machine gun.

Despite the powerful charge the Tau were starting to react though they were on the verge of breaking. Their Commanders were nothing if not brilliant and were leading from the front to salvage their defensive lines at the head of crisis teams. Around him he saw the smaller battlesuits dash around to get a fusion blast in against the vulnerable parts of his armor. One shot almost crippled his right leg and the same enemy was about to fire a second shot to finish the job before being destroyed by a rather striking redhead. Only then did it dawn on him that the Inquisitor's forces had followed his charge when it had begun. Had they failed those troops would have died along with the knights but they had stood together held together by faith in their strength and their purpose. That was something that earned the troops a fair bit of respect with the knights. The combination of Inquisition forces and Blood Ravens quickly tore through what remained of the Tau forces with the various commanders picking out their targets. The Knights teamed up with the ground troops to coordinate the mop up operation while he took a moment to observe what they had done.

As the rest fought he headed back towards his fallen comrades. All in all five of them had fallen in their charge with another one having been toppled in the the fighting after the charge. Only one of of them was utterly destroyed and beyond salvaging and that was a terrible price to pay for this campaign. The others had lost their pilots but the suits themselves could be salvaged, already he could see a mix of his own repair crew and the Inquisitor's staff working on them. So long as they worked on the machines with dignity he didn't mind the help.

Tavin's condition hadn't improved in the slightest after being jolted hard enough that the straps nearly broke. He could taste blood in his mouth but was positive that he hadn't bit his tongue or his lip. Were things that bad? Just thinking about that gave him the shivers so he quickly turned off the medical display to the side with a voice command. If he was ******** then he didn't want to know about it. He needed what was left of his confidence to finish this fight. It took him a moment to collect his senses properly and figure out where he had been shot from. Another attack was sent his way but he was able to punch the throttle and flew out of the way. While he was able to evade the shot he could feel that Providence wasn't quite as nimble as it was supposed to be. The port thruster had taken damage and was only at eighty percent right now, something that was sure to bite him in the a** if things weren't concluded soon. The third and final titan was far enough from anyone that he didn't have to worry about collateral damage so he wasn't going to put the effort into disabling it. As it was he wasn't sure if he could manage it anymore.

He gave a quick glance to the side and saw the readout on Kit's mech and winced a little, instantly regretting taking a look at it. Still he doubted that Providence looked like much right now so he wasn't in a position to judge. A soft beep drew his attention back to the battle, the Ion Accelerator was ready to fire again, he just had to get a target lock first. A titan was a big target, an easy target for Providence now that she was actually calibrated. There was a high pitched whine as the shot was fired, a blue beam appeared briefly before the ion blast raced out towards it's target, howling through the air with the promise of death. It impacted the titan right in the control pod, tearing through the armor and killing the pilot. To Tavin it was a dishonourable practice but he just couldn't risk it. What was honor when the people you cared for were in danger? He couldn't afford it right now, today was a lesson in sheer brutality today and these attackers had already found out that the Soban fought tooth and nail when push came to shove.

"Kit." He called out to his one ally on their part of the battlefield. Without realising it he was going to tell her to back down and return to base for repairs. But he had caught himself just in time. Telling her such a thing would be nothing more then an insult to her and he didn't want that. He'd always respected her and after today he respected her all the more. "We're almost done here. You're doing amazing. Just hold on a little while longer. I still owe you that store." As he spoke he took the time to relax for a moment, settling into a different position in the command chair. There was pain, a lot of pain but Providence had pumped him full of all sorts of chemicals to get him to focus on the battle but he knew it was there, scratching at his mind now. Kit was hunting for one of the enemies but he knew that there was another one nearby.

Out of the corner of his eyes he saw one of the Utility mechs that had been attacking him from a distance start to head for the mech bay. It was clear that as far as that pilot was concerned the battle was lost but said pilot was determined to rack up a body count before it was all over. The look on Tavin's face was one of absolute disgust. These attackers had absolutely no honor to them as they proved to him again and again. His mind was made up, there would be no mercy, no respite for them and he was going to show the vermin just how brutal a fight against a Soban could be. Inside the bay were both powered down mechs and the crews that tended to them. Now that he thought of it, Aoife was near it too as he had seen her defend the bay from attackers. If any of the ordinance or fuel tanks were hit then the whole place was likely to go up in flames. His face turned grim upon that realization. No way in hell he was going to let this happen. "Kit! No matter what you have to keep that other one off my a**. This whole place will go up if I don't stop that one!"

He fired off a quick snapshot from his main gun, the blue pulse howling through the air. It wasn't even close but it served to spook the mech enough to back off from it's approach to the mech bay. He pushed his thrusters hard to boost himself over the surface, racing back towards the mech bay where he took up a defensive position. Return fire rained down on him, jolting him hard once more even though the shields took it. While it wasn't even that intense of a blow it felt like a knife was being jammed in his back again and again every time. Yet it wasn't going to stop him, so long as he could think he would continue to fight the enemy with everything that he had. "Heads up! There's an enemy targetting the mech bay. If they get a good shot in on the interior this whole place is going to blow sky high!" His voice was projected all over the area so that everyone nearby could hear it. He knew that Aoife was down there along with a few others that he had seen but he didn't know where he was exactly. He was going to have to be careful with moving around here lest he accidentally kill someone as collateral damage. The mere thought of killing or even hurting her in that way... it already ate away at him. The sight of her burning corpse came back to him, a flashback from the simulation but he forced it out of his head. He didn't need this right now.

To make sure the hangar was safe he activated his shield generator and ejected it so that it was positioned to cover the entrance. It left him utterly defenceless aside from his badly damaged armor but it was for the greater good.

Shirax Ka’mono , there's a lot to be said about this Lycan. Some of it good, some of it bad. For all intents and purposes he is the avatar of his people, embodying both savage strength and brutal cunning in one package. With the title came training, education and access to knowledge befit of royalty. However... being the firstborn he's always had a target on his back. Competitors demanded duels to prove their worth only to be utterly and publicly broken by Shirax . After the first few there weren't many save fools who sought him out on purpose. Yet for all his ability and might he only showed such utter brutality to those that challenged him, using it to avoid having to fend off constant threats. His distrust for the Drow is intense, bordering on the edge of hatred itself for their past actions. The marriage is something that he sees as an opportunity, a way to have a way in should the Drow demonstrate their inevitable treachery. Despite this stance on the matter he very much loves his family, going so far to brutalize those that would speak ill of his younger siblings. He'll fight for his people but for his family he would go to the ends of the world.

Tavin woke slowly with pain flowing through his body. Some might be distressed by it but frrankly for him it just served as a reminder that he was still alive. He'd always had a strong will but with what had happened earlier that day that had only grown stronger. There were too many things that he wanted to live for right now and nothing was going to stop him. Not his enemies and certainly not his currently shattered body. Still there was no denying that it hurt, that it hurt badly even. "Hmm... ********... the process has started alright." He muttered to himself as he looked at his legs. They had been broken further by the medical staff to put them into the correct position and then put casts around them. What followed afterwards was a highly expensive treatment and one that he wasn't going to forget any time soon. An infusion of nano-machines would course through the broken parts of his body to repair them. It was a hell of a lot faster than conventional healing but it did have it's price. Pain was involved and a lot of it. The start wasn't that bad but the two days in the center was absolute hell and for that reason they tended to keep people under in the few instances that this technology had been used. That wasn't the case with Tavin, he wanted just a little more time awake to know what happened with his friends and to spend time with Aoife. A bit of pain was well worth it to him though he wasn't going to be all that lucid by the end of it.

He uttered a sigh and tried to shift in place a little to be more comfortable and felt a very familiar weight against his chest. There had been plenty of times where Aoife ended up sleeping next or on top of him but this time things felt quite different from all of those times. Normally he would have teased her in some way to wake her up but this time.... well this time he was just content to look at her as she slept. He had a warm if somewhat pained smile on his lips as he reached out to caress the side of her face, to move some of her hair so that he could look at her properly. "So peaceful... even after everything that happened. I wonder if all of us will be able to sleep like that." He murmured to himself and just continued to look at her. In talking to her however he had actually managed to wake her up, though fortunately it was a gentle wake up rather than an abrupt one. The redhead started to shift a little, mumbing to herself before lifting her head up to look at him.

"Oh, hey. You're awake. You feelin' alright?"

It felt like a weird question to be asked, with most of his body bandaged up or in a cast. "Well enough... all things considering. My chest hurts and it feels like the nano infusion's been at work while I've been sleeping." He uttered and groaned a bit. It was going to take some time to get used to all of this. "It's my back and my legs that I'm worried about. I can't move them but... well they hurt so I'm not too worried... yet." He uttered a sigh to hide the fact that it utterly terified him. The last hting he wanted to be was a cripple after his first battle. He was supposed to have many more! To lead his house, his people from the front. He had to have faith, faith that his body wouldn't fail him and that he would overcome this hurdle as he had with so many before. "What about you?" He asked calmly as he used the conversation to push his thoughts away from his fears.

He could see her eyes go wide when she realized that she was hurting him. While he didn't really mind it all that much it would have been nice to not have to deal with more of it. "Oh, s**t! Sorry!" She uttered and changed her position so that she was pretty much straddling him without actually sitting on him. Even so they were close enough that he could feel her body heat against his skin which was quite distracting indeed. "I'd actually fallen asleep beside you. Then there were these dreams... guess they had a bit of an effect on my behavior while I slept..." He frowned a little at that remark, this was hardly all that different though he had to admit that the intent behind it all had much more meaning now. "Oh, I'm doing great now. I'd say 'we gotta quit meeting like this,' but it you make a mighty comfortable pillow. Could get used to it. You know, when we're not such a damn mess."

Tavin's smirk grew at that remark of hers. "Well thats not a surprise at all now is it? It's how you've ended up before on countless occasions but... you've taken it to a whole new level haven't you?" He murmured softly and leaned in with that special kind of smirk that was reserved just for Aoife. "You pervert. I've always known but now you're just giving me validation." After he spoke he looked at his own condition for a moment. "Yeah well you're not exactly someone to let things get in your way now are you? I'll be up and about soon enough... But I'm content to have this moment for now... with you and just you. Feels... right."

"One of these days, I should tell you a few of those dreams I've had. Might give us a few ideas, if you know what I mean." As she spoke she looked down again, this time however because she had shifted a bit he had a rather good view of a a very prominent part of her body. "Pervert, eh? Like the pot calling the kettle black, if you ask me. Great view, huh? Not that you haven't had a small peek or two before, so whats the harm in getting a full view~?" He saw that grin turn into a soft smile while she leaned in to press their foreheads against each other. "Certain things... are worth waiting for, especially now that we've got all the time in the world. Your health is more important right now, and I'll be here every step of the way." There were times where he wondered what he had done to have such an amazing friend. Now those questions were only intensified as he wondered what he had done to earn the love of someone such as her. He wondered if there was even anything he could do to ruin things between them. Truth be told he doubted it but he also wasn't going to test it.

Now he had to laugh a little as she made her remark, it hurt to laugh but honestly it was well worth it. "Oh I think I can imagine what goes on in those dreams of you. I think we have that one in common... no surprise." He teased her with a wink but then realize just what he was looking at. Now usually he could handle her teasing, typically because he had the advantage but right then and there he was flustered by what he saw. He'd seen hints of them before but given that her gown hung low he could see it all he could see it all in it's wonderful form. "Ah..." There was no way he could be coherent with a view like that. "Yeah ah... I..." To his side the equipment started to beep a bit faster, signalling a change in blood pressure and heart rate. "Hmmm... I don't think I have enough blood in me to fuel both things right now... If you're going down this path... don't blame me if I do something... rash." His hand moved to caress the side of her face lightly, his touch weak as he just didn't have a lot of strength in him. The treatment that was rebuilding parts of his body and the recent injuries just weighed on him. "Hmmm... have I ever told you how damn beautiful you are this close... and I'm not talking about those beautiful bo-" He paused to smirk. "Those eyes of yours... and I really do mean eyes... How did I ever manage to deserve you..."

"Oh, Tavin. You should know better than to threaten me with a good time~" Yeah she was playing havoc with his blood pressure right there with remarks like that. "I see what you did there. Smooth. Real smooth."
She flashed him a wink that caused the machines to his side to beep just a tad harder. What good was his poker face when he was attached to a machine like that?! "Can't say you have, but I could get used to it, so long as it's you who's saying it. Speaking of..." He could feel her start to caress the side of his face, it felt like his skin was on fire when she touched him but it was the good kind of fire, a warm sensation that spread through his being from the points of contact between them."I always did love your eyes too, you know. Crimson. Like blood and fire. You could give me a look and it'd actually affect my mood. I used to pretend I didn't notice, like they didn't affect me. Oh, but they do. they always do..."

"I've always 'threatened' you with a good time my dear. It's just that the meaning of 'good time' has shifted over the years..." He uttered with a smirk and was content to just enjoy the soft moment they shared and he listened to her comment. "Yeah, I suppose it has, but I can't complain." Yeah she was right, they couldn't complain. Their needs had evolved as they grew older. These were always his favorite, not a care in the world and just the two of them. "You know me. I'm smooth as hell, at times, in the right conditions. Once more he laughed and shook his head a little before an idea formed in his mind. Yes... yes it wa the right time, maybe not the right place but it felt right to him. "I know you like them... I know the looks you like. Concern... care... joy. Let me introduce you to a new one..." His voice grew lower as he spoke while leaning in. Those crimson eyes of hers meeting those emerald hues of hers as his expression shifted. They practically seemed ablaze now, radiant with a new type of expression that she had never been subjected to, lust, and his was quite the lustful gaze indeed."Sooo... how do you like it~?" He whispered as hot breath spilled over Aoife's lips, trying to entice her to come forward.

"You know me well, but what possible..." He could see and feel her stop, her whole body pausing for a bit as she grew warmer. Oh yes... he was getting to her alright. "I, uh..." He could feel her lower herself, pressing closer to and against him. While he laid there she cupped his face and he slowly moved to do the same. "Go ahead~" He teased, giving that final push she needed to move forward from everything going through her. "You devil, you..." A breathless whisper that sent shivers down his spine. He was well aware that he was creating a new brand of monster, one that might end up being more then he could possibly handle, but frankly that just made it all the more fun and interesting. "Just for you..." Their lips slowly pressed against each other, a softer kiss than either of them really wanted but that was alright. They both made due as they held each other tightly and poured all of their feelings into one single kiss. What it lacked in physical intensity it more than made up for in emotional depth. There were no words to describe how happy he was that this moment had finally come to pass between them. It was a long time comming.

He wasn't really sure how much time had passed as they laid there kissing but it all came to an abrupt end when a solid thud filled the room followed by a very familiar somewhat panicked voice. "L-Lord Soban...! I'm so sorry, I uh..." The sound had managed to startle Aoife as well who all but launched herself right out of the bed causing her to elegantly land just shy of the face that Tavin loved so very much. He had of course tried to warn her with a "Careful you're gonna.." But down she went like a sack of bricks. "Tavin's awake...! I'll just uh...scoot on out here to give you all...some privacy..." The tall Soban leader grinned and shook his head as he put a hand on Artyom's shoulder. "Think nothing of it lad. It is quite the sight." All the while Tavin could hear Aoife groan on the floor though he couldn't reach to see what happened. However before long she recovered and stood upright. "L-lord Soban...A-arty...lovely to...ah...see...you...both?" The poor girl looked so nervous while Tavin just laid there grinning as he realized that Aoife was just in range for what he wanted to do. "This was... um...Oh, who am I kidding? This was exactly what it looked like..."

That was Tavin's cue as he reached out for her to grab her hand lightly. "Ah yes. As you can see my dear girlfriend has some mobility issues due to sustained injuries. Please forgive her." He thought that put things together nicely. Hardly an elegant announcement but that wasn't really the point. The real goal, one that he had achieved as Aoife's cheeks now matched her hair, was to fluster the hell out of Aoife. "Seems like injuries aren't stopping the two of you. If memory serves the both of you are supposed to be RESTING." The remark seemed simple enough but for Tavin it was laced with that ice cold critisim that the man handed out behind the scenes. There was no mistaking that Valerian was a hard man to please though he was happy that he was only complaining about the fact that Tavin was supposed to be resting, rather than his performance. To his side he could tell that Aoife saw it as harsh critism as well but he squeezed her hand to show support for her. "But it is good to see that both of you are alright. Don't worry son, Isis is alright and the Kith is fine as well. We lost some people but they died well."

The news was a source of relief and sadness at the same time. Isis was fine but some of his kin had died. It made him feel bad that he hadn't thought about them, that he had been so focussed on Aoife all this time. As his thoughts ran rampant through his head he let go of Aoife's hand though she was quick to capture it again. He shook the thoughts from his head with help from Aoife's comforting and gave her a little smile. "That's good to hear father..." He uttered softly and turned his attention to Artyom. "Looks like you made it out just fine huh buddy? I'm starting to feel inept with me being the pilot and being the most injured one here... The comment might have appeared as a joke but Tavin actually meant it. While he had scored four kills in his first engagement he didn't feel like a hero. His body was a mess and Providence was utterly destroyed. Hey man...And hello, Aoife. It's lovely to see you, too." He followed Artyom as he moved to adress the new couple. "Glad to see you guys are also hanging on, honestly. It was pretty crazy out there today. "C'mon, Tav, we all know you're anything but inept. You did work out there; I know you did. You always do, heh." As loyal as ever Artyom just didn't accept any wrong from Tavin. Another reason why he was such a treasured friend of Tavin's.

Tam looked out of the window, a neutral look on his face. For years now he had stuck to the shadows, he'd worn it as his cloak. He'd been building up for what was about to come for a very long time now. Those bastards thought that they had an idea of what they were facing. They were about to find out that they were in fact sadly mistaken. A war was coming, one that they were not going to be prepared to fight. His enemies might have their hands on the ruling castes both high and low but they were willfully ignorant of the anger and hatred that was festering at the foundation of civilization itself. The poor, the misshapen, the downtrodden and the ignored all of them were wound up from the actions of their 'betters' and due to careful prodding from Sam's side. Through puppets he had spoken to them, by his control of technology he had planted false information. Did Sam care for them? Not overly... he was pitting the ignorant against the arrogant for his own purposes : vengeance.

He knew that he was a monster, he had long since accepted that fact. He had to be in order to fight the greater evil. Judgement would come for him one day. By his own hand or that of justice. That was a deal he had made with his second in command early on. While the two didn't see eye to eye on methods they had the same goal in mind. It was just that as far as Sam was concerned he was more than willing to cause the deaths of a billion people in order to save billions. To him it was simple mathematics, burn out the cancer that plagued the world. Sacrifices had to be made.

He could feel the others look at him as he went about his preparations. Even from here amongst the masses he had access to what he considered his greatest strength. For months now he had set his gaze upon this area, marking those that were foolish and corrupted. Then he manufactured lies, plausible ones given their track record and worked to ensure that there was some semblance of proof about the horrible claims. An hour ago he had spread some of those out into the world and planted the rest so that it could easily be found. Allegations of corruption, rape, abuse and outright murder were sent out into the web. The media didn't latch onto it but they didn't have to, enough people read it that it got a life of it's own on social media but it spread even faster on the dark web. By the time that Proto asked when they would attack people started to congregate outside in protest towards the local townhall and police office. They were angry beyond belief but things were still peaceful, for now.

"Not long now. Our cover is starting to form. Let's get out of the open." He uttered calmly and lead the way closer to the Marquee. Part of his attention was spent on his surroundings but the rest was still on the city itself. A crucial bit of his plan was having sent threat emails to several police officers. Said emails contained vivid descriptions of how said officer would be tortured and killed, along with images of gore to feed the imagination. The reason why he did so became apparent soon enough as a few miles from where they were several shots rang out. Chaos broke out in that part of town, some fled, some died but most of all, some gave into their outrage. Despite himself Sam smiled lightly to himself, a rare gesture. He loved it when plans came together.

"Now we go. Angel, lead the way. Proto back her up. Don't let anything get in your way. I will go around the other way to flank them. They will not be ready for us.." He paused for a moment and rolled his shoulder. Was he tense? He didn't even know anymore. At times he felt so removed from the rest of mankind even as he tried to save it. "Good hunting. Don't hold back and show no mercy."

                • Sam used to be confident man, the kind of person that walked into every situation with a confident smirk and an arrogant swagger. It was annoying for sure and his attitude didn't make him all that popular as he was considered to be an utter b*****d by most. However his one single saving grace was that he was talented. Whatever task was given to him he could accomplish, accomplishing the stated goals at the very least. Yet then there was an incident. He always pushed himself hard, too hard really whether it was during practice or his solo training. His two main traits drove him to excel but there was a cost. When testing the limits of his abilities he all but eviscerated himself, tearing flesh and smashing bones. The horrific injury was considered karma by most though there were some that lamented the situation since pretty much everyone involved thought that he would never survive the weeks to come, let alone recover.

                • Bio : Sam was born weak and frail, tainted with a sickness at a young age that proved difficult to cure by Argentus' medical prowess. Both his parents were prominent scholars, his father being a military strategist where his mother was involved in scientific advances. They were perfectionists, a pair that was utterly incapable of tolerating mistakes. For them their son's condition was simply... unacceptable. Were some options legal Sam probably wouldn't have reached the age of four. Instead they kept him from public view and bound in a wheelchair as he couldn't walk due to underdeveloped muscle mass. The only thing he really had going for him was his intelligence which was well into the genius scale for Argentus'. By the time he was six years old he was at the education level of children that were quite a bit older due to homeschooling. His parents should have been proud but he wasn't considered a complete package and instead reserved their praise for his older sister.

He grew to resent his parents for the difference in treatment but he tried to be cordial with his sister. The difference between them wasn't her fault but his own body's. They would never be the closest of siblings but at least he had someone to talk to who didn't berate him for his flaws. While other children learned the basics of math, language and science he was already busy with more complicated matters. When those of his age groups were playing outside he was still learning, reading about military theories, philosophy and the great enemy that plagued everyone. He had a great deal of respect for the military for fighting such monsters and naturally especially so for the Night Seekers who proverbially plunged into hell itself. While he doubted that he would ever become one despite his fiercest of hopes he did hope to become to reach a point where he could be of assistance to their kind. These thoughts did very little to gain his parents' favor as they just saw as a child's wasteful and impossible dreams. He was nine at the time and while his resentment for his parents grew a part of him still wanted them to be proud of him or to at least accept him. It crushed him utterly and completely but his sister was the one that spoke courage into his ear.

When he was ten his fate seemed to change. A medical breakthrough resulted in a cure for Sam's affliction. Finally able to begin building proper muscle mass he started to work on that. It was a hard process to be sure and the next three years he worked to improve himself to the point where he could enter the academy. During the day when he didn't have his homeschooling he would go out and swim or try to 'run'. His way of doing it was a bit funky to say the least as it was all self taught on instinct and he was ridiculed as a result of it. Not that he cared really, he was finally able to actually do it! Where he'd once been solemn and withdrawn he actually started to smile finally. He developed a tendency to push himself too hard, resulting in him being bed-ridden from sheer soreness as he utterly refused to sit in that damnable wheelchair ever again. During these times he often found himself reading stories about the Night Hunters, utterly idolizing them to the point where it almost seemed like he considered them to be demi-gods of sorts.

By the time he was twelve and eligible for the tests to join the nation's junior academy he thought that he was ready but in his preparations he managed to break his arm in an accident. He was given permission to try out the next year which was probably a fortunate event as he just wasn't ready on a physical level. For all his improvements he was still weak and frail compared to the others as he was below the baseline for the population. He redoubled his efforts and when the time came next year he only just barely managed to squeak by on the physical portion. During the tests he managed to make up for his lack of raw strength deficiency with speed due to his light frame and intelligence as he prevented himself from getting into positions where he had no options. Were it not for his academy scores which were simply top of the class he probably wouldn't have been accepted. He did however earn himself the reputation of being a smart a** for correcting a minor mistake by a professor. Personally Sam was convinced that the examinator did it on purpose as a test to see who caught it as it was a rather obscure fact.

Once accepted he realized what he had signed up for. Training was hard to say the very least and he had to make up for his physical deficiencies with extra practice. Given his academic advantages this was a good thing as he worked out while others studied. During the first two years he was able to build up some more muscle mass but when combat training started he was well below the others. When trying conventional methods in sparring sessions he was thoroughly defeated every time to the point where there were rumors that he was going to be kicked out. But once he started to get a better feel for his powers during these sessions he was able to get a few wins in. He just wasn't the best one to one fighter but when he participated in group sessions with teams he flourished. With his power he was able to get information and with lightning attacks from flanks he was quite capable of controlling battlefields. He had experimented with carrying both a long range weapon and a close combat weapon but he just didn't have the strength and endurance to use the both of them effectively without storing one of them on the battlefield for recovery.

So it was that by the time that he graduated from the junior academy he was presented with a weapon that allowed him to excel in his preferred method of combat. His gunblade could switch between ranged fire and a sword in short order. It was also made from experimental light weight materials which further helped him use it. The lighter weight did mean it was harder to actually drive home his hits in close combat but he made up for that with speed and precision. It was at Soleria that he started to effectively develop as a human being. He'd never been able to make real friends out of his fellow Argentus students as he didn't share their stereotype. His early life had left him with a deep sense of humility where he just couldn't share in with some of the crude jokes about the other kingdoms. Senior students from other years were pleasantly surprised to find that Sam didn't carry much of the negative stereotypes of his people. While confident he wasn't really arrogant, he went into discussions when he thought he was right but only out of a desire to help others. Wrong ideas could lead to bad tactics which could get people killed.

He was the subject of a fair bit of teasing because he was a bit gullible, occasionally it bordered on bullying though it never remained there for long. For his part he was able to help some of his newly made friends with the academic portions while they returned the favor during physical tests. In the process he opened up more as a person. Where he had once been quiet and reserved he started to actively take part in discussions where he spoke his mind. For someone that had been quiet for so long he surprised a fair few people by having strong opinions on several matters though he was careful to only voice those around people he trusted for fear of being taken out of context or causing trouble. He disapproved of many of the social mannerisms and constructs of his homeland.

By the time he was seventeen he had finally exceeded the physical human baseline but not by much though it was a source of pride for him. He was starting to rise above the defects he had as a child and was becoming a man that he could be proud of. Now that he was actually performing his parents mentioned him to others. These people pretended not to realize that Sam had been kept hidden his early life out of social grace and acted like they had known him all along. Trips home at the end of the year were difficult for him. He acted cordial to his parents and had gotten quite close with his sister but he would never be able to forgive them. Where he needed support his sister was the only one that helped him. During his last visit he showed them the papers for emancipation and left them. In doing so he brought considerable shame to the family but he just saw it as justice for everything that had happened.

Now for his last year he returned as his own man, the rumors about his emancipation no doubt spreading to his fellow students though he wasn't keen on talking about it. His fate and his life were now fully in his own hands though he did intend to keep in touch with his beloved sister. Now he could turn to the future utterly and completely, his eyes ablaze with determination. He was close to reaching a dream that he had thought utterly impossible as a child. During his rise to his current state there had been many who had seen potential in him and he was determined to make them proud. He didn't have a real family anymore but... he felt like his fellow Night Seekers might just fill that void for him.

Powers : Teleportation: Ability to instantly change location.
Limitations : Cannot go through solid objects as a line of sight is required.
Can carry other people though this increases the strain of using his ability.

                  Personality :

Sam's a calm person that's easy to get along with. Over the years he managed to slide out of being a withdrawn bookworm to become a pretty social person. The charisma that he has was built up through both experience and him actively looking for ways to get along with people, the latter through reading books on social interaction. Other students tend to describe him as a confident person who always seems to have a plan or two when it comes to dealing with situations. While he lacks the charisma of your average 'hero' he's a competent leader though somewhat lacking in the inspiration department. When it comes to his friends he's very passionate as he sees them as the only family he has besides his sister. Because of this he can often be found driving home tactics and strategies in an attempt to guarantee their survival. He'll typically only be confrontational in this situation. He's convinced that pretty much any situation can be answered through knowledge and preparation. He also definitely believes in 'Work smarter, not harder'.

                  Trivia :
He has a genuine fear for being crippled again. When he was fifteen years old on of the instructors had had enough of his attempts at subterfuge and forced him into a stand and fight scenario. The man was a natural brawler that was intent on teaching Sam how to stand and fight like a man which was the situation that Sam actively tried to avoid. It was during this that he took a bad fall that caused a fracture in his tailbone. Because it was a minor injury the medical staff didn't think much of it and just put him in a wheelchair for a moment. When he woke up after having passed out from the fall he screamed until his throat was raw. In that instant he thought that everything he had achieved had been lost, that he was bound to a wheelchair once more. In response they put him in bed for two weeks to recover.
