Seriously though, is Pendulum Summoning a real thing now? And is it working well? Because I saw it and I figured this is where the card game gets too gimmicky and jumps the shark.

The starter deck that introduced it only came out like 2 weeks ago in japan

I'm very curoious how it affects the game. I know Synchros added much needed stability and speed to the game. I heard Xyz monsters kinda broke it though, with rampant FTKs and such. Always interesting to see the effects of a new mechanic.

Like they weren't giving us enough lightsworn support in the new deck now they add this so we can run chaos sworn even better...

Probably because their OCG text has always included めくる, which is the OCG keyword for the excavate mechanic. Any card that has that in its Japanese text is an excavating card.

This does explain why Morphing Jar and MJ#2 got banned, though.
