The elf was merely travelling in a direction similar to the human's. He can hardly be accused of rescueing her when she noticed no ill occurrences, surely.

Besides, it's not like he would care that a human gets eaten by wild animals.

I was walking home from the store though the woods and saw some wolves chasing him. How he drew them after him I have no idea but I had quite a bit of meat I had bought that I threw. They ran to get it and I grabbed his hand and quickly ran to my home.

He looked smart and tough enough. I figured him owing me a favor would be very beneficial to me.

She's not exactly sure. The woman seems more than capable of taking care of herself, and looks like she would be disdainful of any kind of help.

The spirit guesses it's just her benevolent nature. The inability to turn your back on those in need may seem like a weakness to some, but to the guardian, she viewed it as one of her greatest strengths.
