The issue im seeing is love vs hate. People want to be known and recognized. Chastising them for that isnt fair because im sure that you would like to be known and recognized as well. If youre not being recognized then youre hating on the ones that are. I am sure thats not always the case but there is some truth to that statement.

It's not hate versus love. It's what's correct for our forum. Morally and within the rules.
Personally, I find these fanthreads beyond disgusting. They're far worse than anything from the elitism era.

What's morally wrong about showing appreciation to another person? And how is it more disgusting than a person claiming he is better than everyone else? confused

It's not morally wrong, but we have to find the correct balance for the forum. This isn't it.
It was better because those threads had zOMG related content. They weren't excuses to be recognized because you know someone. They were achievements, no matter how badly worded it was, no matter how cocky the poster was. Now all we have is threads dripping with sappy love and affection that don't add and don't share anything about zOMG. They're closed off to anyone who doesn't know the person.

You're assuming that these threads were created to grab attention. And I'd rather have sappy threads about love that help keep the community strong that have nothing to do with zOMG! than have drama and arguments that deal with zOMG! but only divide the community and is detrimental to the game. This is about zOMG's best interests.

I think she's trying to say that yes, there are plenty of "sappy threads about love the keep the community strong", where community here is the z!F regulars, and if you aren't a part of that community, you're excluded.

Do you have to personally know someone to mourn their loss or appreciate their contributions? I don't see how anyone is excluded.

If it's not contribution in the z!f, yes.

People who don't know her, are excluded. What did she do, outside of zOMG! or rather what did she do INSIDE of zOMG! There is this bunch of threads about two people and NO ONE bothered to say what they did to deserve to be mentioned. Other than 'being a good friend'.

Which is nice and sweet and cute, but really, if you want to show that kind of appreciation, chatterbox is the right place. It's NOT best for the community to post this here. All the drama which new players/and some older don't care about.

You appreciating them doesn't get you involved and your posts/thoughts will be overlooked. Attention in a thread is focused on the people who were close with whoever we're hypothetically talking about, not a random to them.

Bottom line is this,
If you aren't tight with the z!F "family" people will ignore you, unless you get loud and offensive/controversial. And if it comes to that- well we're not really talking about sappy lovey threads anymore, are we?
Get it?

You have not understood a word I have said, and I find that sad. Secondly, it's in your opinion these threads are disgusting, I however find elitism, by far, much worse. Why? Elitism - Im better than you, suck my "beeeeep". How is that better? Think.

Why does it matter if someone gives anons away when quitting? What does it even matter if they get attention or not? Mind your one business people. Too many big brother syndrome on Gaia. Sheesh. dramallama Good friends told me it's just a waste of time concentrating on the negative stuff and also have said, "Do you want to be right or do you want to be loved?" I think too many people have too much free time posting negative stuff in forums. Go do some homework or help a nub or do some chores, something more productive with your time before you wrinkle up and die. If someone wants to quit and say bye to community let them. If they come back don't judge them. Topics about leaving Gaia and zOMG! I think are on topic because it's the forum in which they have posted before. Well at least this gives me an idea that there should be a sub-forum or a sticky for people leaving Gaia on z!F. That way the forums can be more organized. Try to find the positive things in what you think are bad situations. It can create such interesting new ideas. I agree with original poster. I rather have the forum alive than dead.

What does your post have to do with anything please? I seriously don't get it. Writing "I love you, please have my babies before you leave' belongs in chatterbox. There are bunch of those already.

and one more thing.
"Do you want to be right or do you want to be loved?"

Whoever said that, has to be the worst friend ever. I don't want to pretend to be someone else, just to get all the people to like me. I like being myself, having my own opinion and not glare through a smile. If I don't agree with someone, doesn't mean we can't be friends. It means we have different opinions and respect each other enough so we don't see it as a problem.

So yeah. Normal people want to be THEMSELVES, right and loved. And they usually manage.

Oh come on there were posts and posts about Dande giving away items, so it's in response to that. It's like the total opposite of what the first post was suggesting. You can judge me for it not being relative to topic, but I did include things from op and following posts. It means that people are so into being right in forums and having their opinions be facts that it is scaring people away. It's ok to have opinions. Just use those opinions for something more productive like ATA and site feedback suggestions for zOMG! It's just the forums seems in such an angry attitude about simple little things it's silly. Like simply from the past few years people have had fits over simple words like elite, nerf, tuna, integrity vs abuse drama, dms open to all, etc. I don't get it. You may think my friends are bad and that's your opinion but they have also said zOMG! players are really smart. So why aren't we using are intelligence for good? Instead of whiny about everything all the time. It's like there is so much lack of respect for other people now of days, they don't care who they hurt as long as they get their own way. I'm not asking everyone to be friends and I admit I don't get along with everyone. It's just don't cuss each other out and namedrop whenever someone is offended. It gets old and all it causes is drama. Apply the golden rule at least and people need to keep with TOS. Trolling is bannable now, so opinions are ok, but don't take it too far that someone becomes just another number of why I got banned at the ATA threads. I got cussed out over tuna word before from forums in a pm, so yeah it's a little silly to me that people take things way too far sometimes.

By the way thank you for showing a prime example how ignorance and disrespect are shown in forums. You don't know me or my friend, yet you thought you had a right to judge them. My friends will laugh at being called bad friends so thanks for the chuckle. rofl

These threads about how much a person loves another player is doing the same thing. It divides the community. I'm able to post in all of none of those threads because I don't know the person. I'm further ostracized from the forums because I am unable to profess my undieing love to this. It's a softer way of ruining the forums and driving us apart, but it isn't anything bringing us together. All those threads accomplish is some nice a**-pats players don't need to have.

So you're saying this is about getting attention now? "Aww...I don't know them so they won't respond to my comment." crying And if that weren't bad enough, you're also saying "they'll ignore me if i'm supportive, so I'll be offensive instead to gain attention." emotion_awesome Do you realize how disgusting that sounds?

How are they dividing the community? Why would someone take offence to not being able to post in a thread that's about someone they don't know? Can't you feel for a person just because they're a part of the community?

That's like going into the news forum into a thread about the Newton shootings and saying "Hey, I don't like threads about those shootings because i never knew any of those kids who got shot. By being unable to express my feels for them since I have none, I'm just being ostracized from the rest of the forums."

If you were actually a regular and paid attention to things going on in the forum, you'd know who these people are. Dande and Miya are both regular players in DMS and have taken part in several Kam runs that have been posted in the forums. Miya especially has posted guides to DMS and results of experiments into different ways of doing DMS.

Your ignorance is not an excuse. You can't expect these people to come and shove their contributions into each and everyone's face. That's the same as a person that's coming to the forum for the first time saying "Hey, I don't know a single one of you so all these threads are invalid" dramallama

Again, your ignorance is not an excuse! Dande was never my friend and I've never even talked to her but I've seen many threads where she was an active part of the discussions.
