When I was a kid I had an assignment where the class had to write an original Thanksgiving story. It is paraphrased, like so:

The seafaring pilgrims that landed in the new world were being watched by extraterrestrials. After,nearly being discovered, the alien beings made a plan to keep the humans down. They taught the Pilgrims how to farm, fish, and work the new land to ensure survival. After over indulging in feasts and partying, the human race becomes weak, and sleepy. The aliens use that chance to steal humans away with little resistance. The yearly abductions take place even today.

I got a B on that for having run-on scentences. That was an A+ story I thought.
