Lawrence Tiger

Lawrence smiled, and pulled the girl into his arms for a hug - a mistake, he soon realized, as his face neared hers and that feeling enveloped him again. He pulled away quickly and stood. "Ok then. We're going to need some supplies. You go ahead and grab what you'll need. We're going to have to go out into the desert, so make sure to grab lots of water. Here, He handed her a children's size pink backpack with flowers on it. "Put it all in this. I'm going to go grab some stuff for myself." He then grabbed a larger blue backpack for himself and headed for the meat section. He filled the bag with all of the good and bloody meat that he could find. He didn't want to succumb to his thirst and enter that state and drain Abbey dry. He soon finished and made his way over to where the girl was. He passed the tiny jewelry section of the store on the way to her, and stopped to pick out a butterfly pin. When he reached Abbey, he snuck up behind her and covered her eyes with his hands. "I've got a surprise for you!" He removed his hands and held the pin before her. He hoped it would make her feel better and smile again.

Abbey hugged Lawrence with a sniff as he pulled her close to him, at least she had him and wasn't completely alone and for the first time after her father's death she smiled up at Lawrence. The desert, what a funny place to find an angel but you can always find them in the most unexpected places, she had never been to a desert before but yert again she had never been anywhere except for this city today and the base. Abbey took a minute to admire her pretty bag before saluting Lawrence " Lot's of water and supplies, got it. Thank you~", she then ran down the liquid aisle and scanned the shelves for bottles of water that looked remotely drinkable and the rest of the space in her bag was taken up by cakes, a few pieces of fruit, sandwiches and a blanket.

The little girl ran back to the spot where she was with Lawrence and waited for him to finish packing his bag, she let out a tiny shriek and a giggle as he caught her off guard and covered her eyes. When she saw the beautiful butterfly pin before her, her entire expression lit up, never had she seen something so pretty and sparkly in her life. She hugged Lawrence once again before taking a good look at the pin "Thank you so much Mister Lawrence it's super pretty, your the best! ehehee...So are you already to go and find the angel yet?"

Lawrence gasped, caught off guard by the hug. There was that feeling again! He was both relieved, and saddened when she pulled away. He didn't like this confusion. He sighed, and put a smile back on his face and helped Abbey put on the pin. It looked good on her, and he told her so. He checked out what supplies she brought, and put in a bit more food. He didn't know how long they'd be going without any, and he didn't want her to run out. He helped her put her bag onto her back, then swung her up onto his own back. He slid the straps of his own bag up the front of his arms, letting it rest against his chest before walking outside. "Yes, let's go find her." As they reached the outskirts of the city and began to leave it behind, he looked out at the sand dunes and thought about Abbey's words. Yes, She most definitely was an angel.

"F**k!" Marcy swerved the helicopter to the side as bullets shot out of the sky, aiming straight at her. She quickly jerked the machine around and pressed down on some buttons, causing machine gun fire and rockets to shoot out, taking down three military fighter jets at once. She turned and shot down two more, but knew she wouldn't be able to shoot them all. There was a whole fleet after her! The pattern of attack looked familiar, but she didn't have time to figure out why. She turned the helicopter back around and made a beeline for the base. If she could just get inside, she could activate the defense measures and take them out. But how had they gotten to her so soon? Even if the she-wolf had called for back-up, there was no way they could have reached her so fast. There was only one other option then: they had been following her. She had been careless. She had left too much destruction in her wake and made it easy for them to trail her. She had jeopardized the entire mission. Marcy cursed again as one of the enemy's bullets hit the helicopter in a critical spot. Smoke billowed out of the tail as Marcy unwillingly began her descent. She quickly grabbed all of her stuff and jumped out at a safe height, rolling when she hit the ground in order to avoid being squashed by the falling debris. She was on her feet in an instant. Luckily, she had crashed not too far from the base. She ran up to the door, quickly pulling out her device and bypassing the security system. She ran to the control room and plugged the device in Her fingers flew over the keyboard at the central computer. In seconds, the defense systems were activating. Turrets began to fire at the incoming planes while blast doors closed on all of the buildings. Marcy loaded all of her guns and prepared herself. She may be fighting alone, but she would hit them with the strength of an entire army.

Abbey giggled sweetly as Lawrence fixed the pin onto the hair and blushed as he complimented her, it was extremely good of him to give her such a pretty present. She sweatdropped as Lawrence out more food into her bag since all she did was stuff it with cakes and sweets, she was only young so what would you expect, kids never took anything to seriously. He had really cheered up her up from her father's death, if it wasn't for Lawrence she would have been killed so she owed her life to him. The little girl sat comfortably on Lawrence's back and placed both her hands gently on his head, the desert was a barren piece of land, not even a small patch of grass anywhere. "This place is completely...deserted eheh huh pa-." Abbey cut herself off in mid sentence and covered her mouth then tried to change the subject to hide the word she almost called Lawrence, "D-Definitely not a dessert ehehehe...no ice cream anywhere heh..." The child quickly hid her face in her stuffed rabbit with an embarassed sniff, hopefully Lawrence didn't hear her tiny slip up and was more focused on finding the angel girl thathe talked so fondly about.

Steven Norrison

"Fire!"The man at the controls did as he was ordered, pressing down on a red button. A rocket shot out of the jet, crashing into a turret and causing a small explosion."Now take out the other one!" Steven released the button on the intercom and looked out at the scene before him. From the window of the cockpit of the drop-ship, he could see the entire base with it's shining steel and blazing turrets. Military fighter jets circled around it, some falling, some succeeding in taking down some of its defenses. This was it. This time, he would get her. He had seen her dash inside, her white hair marking her for who she was. He would have recognized that hair anywhere. Finally, the last turret was gone, and the drop ship flew lower. Fifty men, including Steven, jumped out, parachuting into the base, landing on the top of the walls and buildings. Some blew up as they landed on mines, others were impaled on the spikes, which covered the tops of the walls and buildings, that the others had managed to avoid. He dropped to the ground and ran forward, leading the others to the central building. The blast doors took some time to get through, but they soon succumbed to the steel cutters the troops had brought along. Steven dove to the side as they entered, bullets taking the place of where he had once stood. Several guns had been mounted on the ceiling and were shooting at them, while a mobile turret stood at the end of the hall, firing. A grenade launcher stood propped up against the vibrating machine, its trigger hooked up to a motor that pulled it, then released, pulled it, then released. Some more of his men fell, but the rest soon took out the threat. Still, the going was slow, as with each new corridor, there was a new barrage of weapons. When had she had the time to set all of this up? Had they really taken that long to move in? Steven was getting impatient. More of his men were falling. If this kept up, they might want to turn back. He had to keep going. He was so close! Finally, they came to the door of the control room and took out the last of the guns. With a nod from Steven, one of the men broke down the door and they stormed inside. Steven fumed with anger as he found it empty, with only the defense systems operating. "She's already escaping!" He ran back out the door and split his men into groups. His group headed straight for the main hanger, which was attached to the building they were in. They entered cautiously, keeping their guns up and their eyes peeled, sweeping across the seemingly deserted room. There! A flash of white! Two men opened fire, but were soon down as a single bullet pierced each of their necks. Only two more remained. They all dove behind giant metal boxes. Pulling the pin out with his teeth, Steven flung a smoke grenade in the direction he had seen the flash of white in. He and his men charged as it exploded. They were blind in the smoke, but they could at least hear. All it took, was that little shift, that tiny bit of sound, and he had her, his hand closing around his arm. A gun was pressed up against his forehead, but he managed to duck his head before it fired. He grabbed the arm with the gun and twisted it behind her back until she cried out and dropped the gun. His hand slipped for a moment as her foot made contact with his shin and her elbow sunk into his stomach, but he managed to grab her arm again as she tried to run. He called to his other men, who soon reached them and grabbed the girl as she struggled, her kicking legs helping to clear the thinning smoke. She finally stilled as Steven's gun pointed at her own forehead. Her eyes glared with a ferocity that was almost like an animal. He smiled. "Long time no see, Miss Lane." His men bound her arms and legs with handcuffs, then tied her to a chair. At a word from Steven, they left. He walked over to her, placing the nose of his gun on her forehead and sliding it up to pull off her headband, waving it in front of her face. Her eyes flashed with hatred, and he smiled wickedly. He had waited so long for this.

Abbey's hands were soft on his head. His hands curved backwards, holding her in place. He was moving at a swift pace. She had started moving again, and he had spent too much time on his detour. He chuckled at Abbey's joke, until she heard her slip. He looked away for a moment. Had she just called him . . . Papa? He laughed nervously as she made another joke, then continued walking in silence. He didn't know what to make of her slip. All he knew, was that it created a warm feeling inside of him. That feeling suddenly turned ice cold as he felt Her fear, and then Her anger. He broke into a run, his legs pumping and his muscles complaining as he forced his way through the sand. The air around them turned into a vacuum, shutting out all sound as his speed increased. She was in trouble. He had to get to her! Suddenly, he screeched to a halt as the desert sands changed into a gleaming military base surrounded by landed military fighter jets. The sounds returned, and they could hear gunfire from within the compound. Suddenly, the guns stopped. So would have Lawrence's heart, if it were still beating. Was she . . . ? He ran back down the dune he had just come up, out of the base's sight. He swung Abbey down from his back and gently set her on the ground, dropping his bag beside her. "Stay here, ok? Don't go into the base, don't go walking off, just stay here." He kissed the top of her head and ran towards the base, ducking into the shadow of one of the jets. He ran from shadow to shadow, then leaped over the wall. Thankfully, no one had seen him yet. He began to make his way towards the central building where all of the military men seemed to be centered.

Abbey giggled up on Lawrence's shoulders feeling the wind gently brush across her face, the feeling of being tall was very rare to the little girl so she may of well enjoy her temporary new height while it lasts. To her dismay she could read from Lawrence's facial expression and from his nervous laugh that he heard her accidently call him papa so from the rest of their little trip the child didn't dare open her mouth to slip up again. Suddenly the tension began to wear away as Lawrenece's expression changed to a more serious one, something was definitely up! Her grip tightened onto him as he shot of into a sprint through the desert at high speeds, Abbey was slightly frightened about what was going on as they reached a military base similar to the one she used to live in only it seemed more protected.

She gazed up at the base rubbing a little grain of sand from her eye as Lawrence placed her down on the ground, she was so curious as to what was going on but it was Lawrence's buisiness so she knew it was wrong to interfere. Abbey sat down in the sand next to Lawrence's bag and giggled cutely as he kissed her on the forehead and gave her instructions not to run off from the spot. "O-Okay Mister Lawrence....please stay safe...." she whispered hugging her white stuffed rabbit, for Lawrence it was her duty to guard his bag from danger! The little girl hopped onto her feet setting the rabbit down on the ground before saluting him "Commander Fluffy, it is up to us to protect this bag from the scary sand monsters that want to steal Mister Lawrence's stuff!..." She marched around the bag in an army style fashion for quite a while wondering how long it was gonna take for Lawrence come back again. Maybe he was running off to find the angel girl he had told Abbey about, she couldn't wait to meet her!

Marcy Lane

Marcy was fuming, and while she was angry at Steven and the troops who were with him, she was more angry at herself for being so careless. She had never been caught before. Her anger shot skyward as he took off her bandana, removing the symbol that meant so much to her: a crescent moon strung with pearls and a fiery sun dripping blood, cross-stitched together, symbolizing the creatures of the night and the humans of the day, struggling to pull away, nearly destroying themselves, before learning to change directions and come together. It symbolized the rebels' struggles and hope for a peaceful future. She struggled against her bonds, screaming inwardly with rage but not making a sound as he tore the bandana in half, right down the center of the cross-stitching between the moon and the sun. "I said, 'Long time no see, Miss Lane.' " He tilted the chair back, grabbing her by the neck of her shirt and hanging her by it. "You do remember me, don't you?" He caught sight of the half-a-dog-tag hanging around her neck and snatched it up. He turned it over to see that only her first name remained, her last name being on the missing half. With a jerk, he broke the necklace off of her neck and stuffed it in his pocket. "What are you-" Marcy finally spoke, but she was cut off as Steven's lips halted hers. Marcy's eyes widened in surprise. They grew even wider as a familiar face appeared over Steven's shoulder, his face twisted by shock, pain, and betrayal. Lawrence? The sight of him thawed her, and she managed to free her lips, spitting in Steven's face. He jerked back, wiping at his face, and backed right into Lawrence, who threw him to the other side of the hanger. Marcy managed to grab a knife from her belt and cut the ropes that held her to the chair. It wouldn't cut through the handcuffs though, so she didn't bother to try. Instead, she stood and ran to the nearest helicopter. "Lawrence! Come on!" He ran over, breaking her handcuffs with his bare hands. She started up the helicopter and blasted her way out of the hanger as Steven came running towards them, yelling at the top of his lungs for his men. "There's someone we need to pick up!" It was amazing to hear his voice again, but what she didn't like what he said. "Are you serious?! Where?" He pointed out the little girl standing among the dunes, then ran to hang from the door. Marcy swung the helicopter as low as she dared, and Lawrence grabbed the girl and the bags, pulling them safely into the cockpit. Marcy immediately took to the air, shooting out as many of the fighter jets still on the ground as she could as she raced out of the area. Steven's tactics were working against him, as he had no turrets to shoot her down with. Their luck was short lived though, as Marcy noticed the fuel level. "We've got to find somewhere safe to hide and refuel. Do you know of anywhere near here?" She turned to look at him, standing by her side, just as he always had. Only this time, he was holding a little girl in his arms. Was she . . . his daughter?

"I don't know about safe, but there was a military base not far away that was just wiped out by a gang of vampires. You could refuel there." He tried to keep a straight face, to hide the whirlwind of emotions threatening to tear him apart. He couldn't be happier to see Her again, finally! After all of these years of searching! But, to have found Her in the arms of another man . . . He was shaken up, and shaken up bad. He hadn't realized he was hugging Abbey tightly and quickly set her down. "I don't think you've met Abbey. She was living in the base I just told you about. I met her today. She's uh, she's with me now." He leaned down and whispered in Marcy's ear about the death of the father.

Abbey became very restless as she sat down and drew pictures in the sand with her finger, she began to think that Lawrence wasn't going to come back and she was going to be stuck in this desert all alone. She rubbed away a few tears before hearing a loud buzzing noise from a distance, at first she thought it was a bee until she caught sight of a large helicopter coming towards her. She was filled with terror and scrambled to her feet in an attempt to run away from the helicopter until she saw a very familiar face reach out to her and pick her up along with his bags. Good thing she managed to grab her rabbit and hug him safely in her arms before she was taken into the helicopter. Abbey gazed up at Lawrence as he hugged her and hugged his arm gently, for a moment she almost lost faith in him coming back but he did and that only made her trust in Lawrence even stronger.

The little girl looked up at the white haired female in awe as Lawrence introduced her to Marcy, she even looked exactly like an angel and was probably just as nice as Lawrence described her. As Lawrence introduced Abbey to the angel she slipped behind his leg appearing very shy with meeting new people, all she could manage to do was give a small curtsey to Marcy and whisper "N-Nice to meet you Miss Angel ma'am...." Abbey sat down with her legs crossed in the corner of the helipcopter and watched as Lawrence whispered into Marcy's ear, she knew that he was talking about her from the expression on his face and sighed. The child smiled softly and looked at her rabbit straight in the eyes, despite her father's death she didn't feel so lonely anymore, she felt free for once being able to leave the base now. From the sounds of Lawrence and Marcy's conversation they were gonna go back home to the base again, it would bring back alot of painful memories but she had to be brave and strong. "Thank you...f-for coming back for me..."

"Great. Another base." Marcy said, grumbling. Her look softened as Lawrence told her about Abbey's father. She glanced back at the girl and raised a brow. "Angel?" She turned her confused look to Lawrence before turning back to the girl with a gentle smile. "It's nice to meet you too Abbey, but I'm no angel." She laughed. "Just call me Marcy." She smiled warmly at the girl, then turned back to the controls as she banked the helicopter to the side.

Lawrence just shrugged when Marcy turned her questioning gaze towards him, but inside, his make-believe heart ached. She was most definitely an angel to him - an angel that had been tainted now. He walked over to Abbey, scooping her up and sitting down in her place, resting her in his lap with his arms around her."Of course I came back for you. You didn't think I'd leave you, did you?" He smiled down at her, then kissed the top of her head.

Abbey watched Marcy's expression after she had called her an angel, why did she seem so bewildered about the word angel and deny that she was one? She resembled one and was just as kind hearted so why deny the truth unless she was trying to cover up the exsistence of angels or something and was an undercover angel for Heaven. Abbey realised because of her little made up story that she had to keep the exsistence of angels a secret and the thoughts of angels were soon cleared. "Thank you ma'am-uh I mean Marcy " she chuckled as Lawrence picked her up and set her on his lap with his arms around her and then hugged him leaning back in his arms. "It's just cause....you were gone for a while a-and you left you bags but I'll never doubt you again I promise."

As Lawrence kissed her head she smiled up at him and laughed before softly poking his nose before leaning back again curling her knees into her chest as she looked out at the window. "Mister Lawrence...We're going back home to the base again aren't we...I-I don't really mind that papa's in Heaven now, he always wanted to go up there t-to see mama because she went to Heaven a year ago too. As long as their happy then I should be to but I don't understand, I don't know why I feel sad..." the child quickly folded her arms and hid her face with a whimper, she felt horrible for being greedy by trying to keep her papa all to herself when he wanted to be with her mama.

Lawrence chuckled. "If I leave my bags, than I have to come back for them, silly!" The smile on his face faded as she continued speaking. He held her tighter, hugging her into his chest. "Yes we are. It's ok to feel sad when you lose someone Abbey. It's natural for humans." Apparently, it was natural for vampires too. He remembered the hole that he had felt in his chest when he had lost Marcy. He looked up at the girl as she banked the helicopter, bringing it in for a landing on the roof of the base. For some reason, the hole was still there. She was the same girl, and yet, somehow different. He looked back down at Abbey. "No one wants to lose the ones they love. But don't worry, you're not going to lose me. I'm tough." He thumped his chest, winking at her.
