With a slight sigh Kai looked out of the window down at the ground that was rapidly fading from sight. It was his first time riding an airship and truth be told he wasn't all that fond of it. With his fire magic he was able to fly around just fine but the old man that had recruited him for the mage university had told him to try and fit in. You see a person like him didn't really belong in a prestigious school like the university of magic but rules had been bent for him because he was a rather special case.

He was an oprhan, a child without a family born in a region of the world known for it's lack of law and the thriving of criminal elements. Usually someone like him would end up a criminal or part of a slave army of some sorts but fortunately things had been different for him. During an incident in his youth his emotions had reached out to the goddess of passion and fire, prompting the divine being to mark him as her champion. There were a lot of misconceptions about that title and what it really meant however. For starters it didn't make him any sort of god or demi god himself. Rather it connected his soul to that of his goddess and allowed him to cast special magic or even take on the form of the avatar of fire. For all the raw power that it had given him control hadn't been one of them and education in general had been rather horrible. He'd been forced to learn how to read and speak the common tongue on his own without any guidance though the language of the gods had essentially been burned into his mind. All in all it made him a rather unique person, one with the ability to change a lot of things in the world and that was why the rulers of the world decided it was a good idea to have him become educated at their highest school of learning.

Still that didn't mean that people would accept him here. Rumors regarding him were bound to have spread to this place and that made him more then a little nervous. He knew well enough just how horrible his temper was and he did his best to project an aura that would keep bullies away. The people here haven't been through the same horrors that he had survived, compared to him the majority of the students would be soft. Part of him felt like he should leave himself a little open to educate them but again he had to try and mingle with the people. From what he'd been told there would be plenty of 'political games' between the different groups of students, something he wasn't looking forward to at all. There really was a lot that he didn't like about what he was going to do for the next few years but even his goddess had insisted that he did this and one doesn't say no to someone like her.

He sat there staring out at the sky for the entire trip debating both his past and his future. There were a lot of people that underestimated him when they were told that he didn't have any sort of formal education. Despite his lacking in that area he was plenty sharp and dealing with the lessons of a goddess gave you a special kind of intelligence. He sometimes wondered if people were ready for someone like him but he figured that he was going to find out soon enough. "We have arrived at Belgani University of magic. Please collect your affects and disembark." A voice rang out causing Kai to utter a sigh, he'd gotten quite used to his little quiet moment, probably one of the last few he would have for a long time. He saw some people start to lug around large packs of clothing and equipment while he just had his backpack, he'd never had a lot of possessions really. The things that were really important to him were stored in a magical dimension that he could access anywhere if he needed them.

Once he left the airship to stand at the floating city's airstrip he saw a woman beconning for students to come over to her. She ended up being the professor responsible for guiding the new students towards the area where they would be introduced to the other professors as well as their challenge of the day. Before anything got going in a proper fashion they would be split up into teams. Just how they were going to do that wasn't mentioned but he was quite sure that none of the students were going to have a say in the matter. Looking around he tried to see what kind of people he would be dealing with. There were a few that looked promissing but he knew better then to judge anyone based on their appearances. After all the fastest person he ever saw happened to be a fat guy, the world was a funny place like that sometimes.

So there he was, listening to a speech that he didn't really care about all that much while trying to prepare himself for the test that was being prepared for him and the other students.

Sitting comfortably in one of her father’s designs the white haired woman wasn’t too forward to one more utterly boring ride where she’d be forced to listen to the chatter of her so called friends, forced upon her by her father because connections were everything in this World. The elite have to stick together whether she liked it or not. Knowing there would be severe consequences if she didn’t play nice with the offspring of some of the most powerful people around the young woman sat there, trying not to look too bored, faking a smile here and there but keeping her involvement in the conversation to a minimal. The only thing they ever talked, or rather bragged, about was what their parents had achieved in life, trying to trump each other with the silliest of things only to come to the realization that the white haired woman sitting right next to them, no matter how much they try to convince themselves otherwise, is still on top of the rich people food chain but that never shuts them up for long.

Fancy clothes, having the newest everything, the famous name may amaze certain others but the by now bored out of her mind woman never cared about any of it. Being in the spotlight never was her thing nor was getting handed everything without having to work for it, it could make a person lazy, spoiled and many probably perceived the young woman as just that while in truth she’s absolutely nothing like that but she gave up trying to prove herself and convince people of her hardworking nature a long time ago. Instead over the years the young woman became more introverted, less inclined to share anything about herself with anyone because her words and action would get twisted so why bother anymore? Her father had set an image for his family and he’d go to great lengths to uphold it. Most the outside world got to see is just part of a well performed act but an act nonetheless. Oh well, if you don’t let people get too close, let them get to know you they can’t hurt you either.

“Eirwen!” Getting pulled from her thoughts the young woman raised her eyebrows at the disgruntled looking brunette sitting next to her. She’d been in her own little world for a few seconds too long and they had noticed she hadn’t been paying attention to conversation at all. How they could ever have been so easily deceived by a few well placed smiles and nods, the white haired woman had no idea but after failing to keep up that little act they were now on to her. “I was talking to you.” The brunette stated the quite obvious as she flipped her hair back and put on a pouty face. “Apologies, my mind just drifted off.” Adding an apologetic smile the young woman knew she was already forgiven even though the brunette let out a “hmpf” No one could stay mad at her for too long for fear of what daddy would do. As if she could commit an act as childish as telling her father and forcing him to deal with such trivial matters. Shouldn’t they have outgrown this phase a long time ago?

"We have arrived at Belgani University of magic. Please collect your affects and disembark."

Getting up from her seat the young woman politely waited about ten seconds for the brunette, who was now trying to get all of her useless s**t to fit in to her fashionable purse once more while the white haired woman had nothing to collect, all of her belongings needed to survive her time at the academy had already been delivered days ago. After those ten seconds the young woman gave up, sighed and pretended to be dragged along with the stream of people getting off the airship and following the group towards where a professor was calling out to them. Once everyone had gathered the group was taking to where they would meet the other professors and where they were told they would be split up in teams and that a first challenge had already been prepared for them.

This was just great. Teams. The white haired woman wasn’t looking forward to this little fact because she never really learned how to function well in a team, being responsible for someone other than yourself, having to work together. Everything had always been done for her and when she thought that finally she’d have the chance to do something on her own they decide to stick her with a teammate… ********].

                                                                  ((rp is ALIIIIIIVEEEE. IT'S ALIIIIIVE))

Kai had a look of wonder on his face as he looked at the hall that they had been assembled in while the headmaster gave his speech. He only heard a few details while he just marveled at the design. For someone that practically grew up in the wilds he still had an appreciation for beautiful design and he truly relished moments like these. When the speech was over he realized that they were going to start mentioning the teams. For an instant he grew a little nervous as he wondered what kind of person he was going to have to deal with. Last thing he wanted was to end up with someone that would make fun of him for how he had been raised. Something like that would likely end with him setting said person on fire. The people here might not like it but he didn't really care for their judgement. There was only one person that he answered to and in the end he had been invited here because of what he was. He figured that meant he could get away with some things others wouldn't be able to get away with.

Again he realized that he had zoned out when suddenly hearing his name being called out though in his case it was just his first name as he didn't have an official last name. The last name he used was one he had given to himself in honor of someone from his past. All across the room strange glances were exchanged as they wondered about the strange name before his partner was revealed. "Eirwen Skadi Storm." Said the headmaster and Kai looked around trying to gauge who it was that he was going to be working with. Sadly he didn't know enough about people to be able to pinpoint it as way too many people reacted to it. Perhaps she was someone important and people were shocked to hear she was paired with someone so strange. Shivers ran down his spine as a sense of dread started to escalate. Perhaps he had made a mistake in coming to this place... Little did he know that there was a rumor about him spreading across the university.

Word had spread about a strange mage that would be attending the academy, one that had no prior formal education but had amazing powers at his disposal. The reason they wanted him at the university was to try and educate the mage to prevent the person in question from going completely rampant. It was interesting that they had kept the specific identy a secret but that was something that wasn''t going to last very long as it would show once the classes started. Whether or not being partnered with him would end up being a good thing or a bad thing was something that was up in the air though combat trials were assumed to be a breeze with the stranger as a partner. The Northern regions had been completely wild for centuries but some vestige of peace had decided after a mysterious figure with amazing fire at his disposal annihiliated whole tribes of barbarians. It wasn't official but it was assumed that the stranger and that mysterious figure were one and the same.

Eventually they were dismissed and sent to their rooms to get their stuff stowed away before dinner. He looked down at the silvery plate that they had given to him. Even now he didn't know how the hell it was supposed to work but a path to the room showed up on one side. For a while he stood there scratching his head, wondering how it worked but decided that a question like that would get an answer at a later time. When he arrived in the room he let out a slight whistle. It was certainly a fancy room compared to what he was used to. If memory served him correctly it was a penthouse and he'd never been in anything like it. There were two bedrooms, a shared bathroom , a common area and a simple kitchen that they could make their own food in should they want to during the year. With a frown he approached the kitchen and tried to figure out how it all worked, preferably without trying it. Personally he was used to using his fire magic to cook his food but he doubted something like that would fly here. He was going to have to learn how to cook all over again. "People have walked away from the natural way.." He murmured and turned around to inspect the rooms only to come face to face with his partner.

"Ah..." He muttered, not really sure what he was supposed to say.

Having asked explicitly and multiple times for her father to in no way interfere with her school life the white haired woman wondered if the man had kept his word or if he’d decided to go behind his daughter’s back and arranged a few things just in case. She’d already agreed to having her things sent to the academy with the, to her father, necessary escorts but that was all she’d agreed to. There would be no paying off professors or any of that s**t just to get his little girl in the spotlight. It was not what she wanted and she’d made that abundantly clear to the man but now that she watched the headmaster deliver his speech the young woman wondered if the teams had been decided by just the professors, picked out randomly or if certain powerful people somehow found a way to get a say in the matter. Well she’d know sooner rather than later, as the headmaster finished up his speech she knew they’d be announcing the teams soon. Looking around the room the young woman wondered who in here she could get teamed up with and with that thought a certain brunette popped up in her sight ‘if it’s her it’ll be the first time I’ll ask my father for anything’ she thought to herself as she couldn’t help but shudder just a little at the thought of being paired with the chatty brunette.

Paying attention as they started calling out the names the white haired woman raised her eyebrows as the next person on the list was only called by his first name. ‘Odd’ was all the young woman could think and to hers and everyone else’s surprise her name was next in line. She was getting paired with ‘first name only’. A lot of the students turned their heads to face the young woman, curious as to how she’s going to react to this, it wasn’t a pairing anyone was expecting. Other than surprise, disappointment was visible on many faces. Who wouldn’t have loved to be in the same team as Eirwen Skadi Storm. Oh the perks they could enjoy!

While everyone was focusing on either the odd pairing just made or the other names being called the white haired woman looked around to spot the male she’d been paired with only to notice he was doing to exact same thing. He had no idea where to look. He had no idea who she was ‘from under what rock did he just crawl?’ was the first thought that crossed the woman’s mind but not because she was offended in any way, just a little surprised that he wasn’t already clinging on to her, trying to get on her good side. This was rather new to her and abnormally strange, a good strange though. And it immediately proved that her father, for once, had kept his word and that alone made a smile appear on the young woman’s face.

When they were eventually dismissed the young woman was swarmed by the usual crowd. Questions were thrown at her from every direction and the only thing the white haired woman could do was pretend to be very displeased with the pairing and tell her brunette friend how she’d rather have been in a team with her. A little while later the white haired woman managed to escape her ‘friends’ and started making her way towards her room as fast as humanly possible only to find herself in front of the entrance to the penthouse. Did every team get a room/apartment like this or did her father find a way to interfere in at least some way?

With a sigh the white haired woman swung the door open, the first thing catching her eye being her team member already inspecting the place. He didn’t seem to notice someone else had walked in the room until he turned around and acknowledged Eirwin’s presence by muttering something. He obviously had no idea what to say. “Eirwen Storm. You’re Kai right? Is it just Kai?” Eirwin quickly introduced herself as she stuck out her hand for him to shake, adding the question about his name in the hope to get a conversation going. While waiting for a response the young woman looked around a bit. To her these were rather simple living accommodations and that’s exactly what she liked about it. “I guess we have a lot to discuss since we’re going to have to work together.” The young woman was trying her hardest to sound as friendly as possible when she said that while really she’d preferred to be in a room by herself, being the only member of her team. But things were like this and she’d just have to deal with that and well maybe this guy wasn’t too bad of a partner…

Kai gave the woman before him a weird look when she extended her hand. At first he thought it was some sort of martial arts move before he remebered the gesture from the ethics class that they forced him to take before coming to the University. Gingerly he extended his own hand and shook it, his grip more firm then one would expect from his appearance. To anyone he would look like just your average guy, albeit with deep emerald eyes and an impressive amount of tattoes under his clothing, though the ones on his neck and hand were clear for the world to see. However there was nothing normal about him, the connection he had with his goddess had left him impowered then more then a few ways and strength was definitely one of them. Sadly knowledge wasn't something she'd left him with though she'd promissed to grant him that when he was much older. He supposed that she wanted to see what he could accumulate on his own though knowledge gathering had hardly been his focus in life.

"Yes...It's just Kai... for now." He said clamly and pulled his hand back while keeping his gaze on hers a moment longer. He wanted to keep his rather unique situation regarding names to himself for now. The last thing he wanted was for him to be judged by this woman for something that she didn't understand yet. He kept his attention on her as he stepped back and settled into one of the sofa chairs in their common room. When she spoke up again he frowned a little and shrugged his shoulders while leaning back comfortably in the shoulders."An interesting idea but ultimately somewhat pointless. We don't know what the other is capable of and no matter how modest we are we'll never be able to accurately describe our own abilities in a neutral way." He finally uttered and shifted a little. While he didn't have an extensive amount of knowledge he was certainly wise for his age.

"Time will show the truth and there's no reason to push for victory over the others from day one." He added and yawned slightly, not bothering to cover his mouth because he hadn't been taught to do so. "I heard there's going to be solo trials tomorrow that will serve to introduce everyone's abilities so that will do the job nicely." He continued and sighed a little before getting up again to head for the kitchen. With a groan he came to the realization that there was absolutely nothing to drink or eat in the place and that he was going to have to wait half an hour before he could get any kind of relief. Sighing he walked back to where he had seated himself before and gave her a curious look.

"I saw you get swamped earlier by people after the ceremony was over. How come?"

Different. Yes different would be an accurate way to describe the man standing in front of her. As they shook hands Eirwen noticed the firmness of it, which she hadn’t really expected by just looking at the guy, and although she wanted to comment on it the white haired woman refrained from doing so though when he told her that it was indeed just Kai, for now she couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows slightly. There was a lot of mystery surrounding this person. “For now?” Eirwen mused as she thought about it for a moment but she couldn’t think of any reason for the young man, now taking a seat on one of the sofas, not to tell her his last name but she wasn’t about to force it out of him either.

“Maybe, but I don’t like surprises. That’s why I suggested.” Eirwen replied rather dryly as Kai completely shot her down. He had a point, a valid one but he still shot her down, something else the young woman wasn’t used to, people talking back, not agreeing with her. This was all so new. While this was exactly what the woman had always wanted it would still take her some time to get used to. “And I wasn’t just talking about abilities either but that doesn’t matter, we’ll just do it your way and let time show us the truth then.” Eirwen commented in a slightly annoyed manner, if every conversation was going to be as this one the white haired woman was pretty sure the two of them were not going to end up the greatest of friends or partners.

It also seemed like the man was in desperate need to learn some manners. First it had seemed like he had no idea what Eirwen was planning on doing when she stuck out her hand. It had taken him a few moments to realize or remember what a handshake is and then there was the yawning without him covering his mouth. While wondering if she should comment on it, ask him about where he was raised just to get a clearer view on what to expect from this young man he spoke up again, talking about the solo trials that would take place the next day “hm-m” was all she managed to let out as her piercing blue eyes followed Kai’s movements as he stood up and made his way towards the kitchen only to see him sigh at the sight of all the empty cabinets and watch him walk back towards the sofa.

As he seated himself once more the young man gave Eirwen a curious look before asking about the ceremony earlier “Status.” Eirwen stated with a little shrug as if it was nothing important “But you don’t seem bothered by it and really you shouldn’t.” that was all the white haired woman wanted to share about that particular subject. For now. Kai didn’t know who she was, didn’t know who her father was and well Eirwen wanted to keep it that way, at least for a while longer. “We should get going. It’s almost dinner time.” Abruptly changing the subject the young woman rose from her seat, giving Kai a look as if asking if he was going to join her or that she should leave first.

Dinner would be another chance for people to swarm her, throw question her way and Eirwen wasn’t looking forward to that. Was she still supposed to act like the team she was put in bothered her or would the brunette, a person who keeps being referred to as the brunette because no matter how hard and long Eirwen thought about it the girl’s name would not come to her, feel offended if she noticed Eirwen was actually fine with it?

Kai merely nodded slowly when the woman repeated the for now section of what he had told her about his name. He did frown however when she mentioned not liking surprises. "Surprises keep life interesting. If you can anticipate everything that'll happen to you in life then there would be nothing to it. Life is about experiencing things but if you know it already then there's no experience." He replied in a calm tone and stayed in the sofa, completely relaxed and oblivious to any kind of insults that she might be subjecting the other woman to. Kai was a relatively simple man with even simpler needs. It was society that wanted to force all the extra baggage on him and while he accepted their attempt to do so he wasn't all to enthousiastic about it.

"So was I Eirwen. Lips can lie but actions do not. The way a person fights shows shards of a person's true personality, something that even decievers can't completely mimic. It's how I've observed humanity for years now and through it I've learned more then I would have through just talking." He continued simply as he continued to lounge comfortably. Truly he could become used to living in a place like this, it was so much better then what he was used to. Eirwen on the otherhand didn't seem all that happy about it but perhaps that was because of his presence. Oh well, he'd never been too good at first impressions. Perhaps that was because he didn't really put all that much effort into how he came across. In the end his actions spoke volumes, especially compared to whatever kind of theatrics he might perform for other people to like him.

When she mentioned status being the reason he gave her a knowing look but didn't elaborate any further on how he had experienced things on his end. "Status is just something invented so that they can pretend to hold power but they only have power because people think they have it and thus act on it. Status can be such a weird thing..." He mused quietly, not really talking to Eirwen as he stroked his chin slowly while lost in thought. Her prompting him to go eat was what stirred him from his thoughts again so he got up and motioned for her to lead the way. "Judging by your words you don't seem to like the attention all that much. Have you considered asking people to leave you alone?" He suggested as they walked towards the door of their penthouse. "After all in the end you only answer to yourself." He uttered.

They were left somewhat alone till they reached the dining area. A few people approached them but a single fierce glance from him kept them at bay. "I don't have a reputation to uphold unlike you." He murmured and got inline while looking over the food options there were. As far as he could tell they could pretty much arrange for just about everything on the spot thanks to magic so he went with a large plate of pasta. He was likely going to get seconds and even thirds if given a chance, his existence consumed a lot of energy on a constant basis. "What do you expect from the classes here? I honestly don't know. This is the first school I ever attended."

A smirk crossed the young woman’s face when Kai commented that she didn’t seem to like the attention that came with her status all that much, adding if she’d ever just tried asking people to leave her alone. “Not an option. Can’t be perceived as anything less than perfect. Me saying I want to be left alone…I can already imagine how my words would get twisted and abused.” Eirwen replied and as they reached the front door of their penthouse the white haired woman wondered for a moment or two if Kai would open the door for her but then remembered he didn’t seem to have any manners let alone know anything about etiquette so the young woman just swung the door open and stepped outside, waiting for her teammate to follow her. “And I can’t just think about myself, I have to think about the image of my entire family and how my actions might influence them. A very tiring matter and something you probably won’t agree with but that’s just the way things are for me and I’ve learned to live with it a long time ago no matter how much I keep disliking it.” Eirwen added as they made their way towards the dining area.

Once they arrived the two of them were immediately spotted and as Eirwen tried her best to hold back a sigh, dreading the conversations she’d be forced to have, one glare from Kai kept everyone at bay. She could work with this, spin everything a bit so it seems like Kai is just mighty strange, which he is, and how she has to spend time with him because well they’re stuck together in a team. Her ‘friends’ will feel sorry for her rather than get mad. After throwing the brunette, who’s name still eluded Eirwen, an apologetic smile and rolling of the eyes the white haired young woman followed Kai to stand in line to get something to eat. When Kai told her he didn’t have a reputation to uphold the young woman nodded “I think I might actually be grateful for that.”

Although Kai’s pasta looked delicious and Eirwen spent at least a minute staring at it before ordering a simple salad, trying her best to look happy with a s she walked towards an empty table and sitting down. “I’m going to have someone stock the kitchen for us, so if there’s anything in particular you want just let me know.” Eirwen stated as she poked her salad, not eating any of it. Not that she didn’t like it, just that when seeing the enormous plate of pasta had her craving something with a little more fat in it.

Kai’s next question pulled the white haired woman from her thoughts, her blue eyes looking up at the male as she shrugged. “I was homeschooled for most of my life so I have no idea.” Eirwen replied. Most of her friends were like her, homeschooled, others went to very elitist private schools before coming here but none of them had met the white haired woman in class but through many business dinners and just due to the fact that their family’s needed them to get along. In a way they were all forced upon each other, forced to be friends and in time maybe even more. “I’ve tried doing some research because as you already know I don’t like surprised but… I didn’t find out much.” Finally starting on her salad Eirwen remembered something about some sort of introductory challenge that had been arranged. Maybe she just heard wrong, she’d been lost in thought for most of the time anyway, until they’d called her name that is. “Were you homeschooled as well?” Eirwen thought of asking, it would mean they had at least one thing in common, though part of her seriously doubted this. She wondered if he’d ever had gotten any form of education at all with his lack of manners and rather blunt way of communicating.

Kai gave a frown at the woman's remark and shrugged again. He was well aware that the woman was raised in a completely different way then he had been. She'd been surrounded by people that desired things and would raise her. He didn't have nearly the same fortune. For as long as he could remember solitude and challenges were all he had in his life. Still he didn't resent her for their differences as there was nothing either of them could do about it. Truth be told he didn't even know if he'd want to follow a different path. In the end he'd managed to survive the trials and that was the most important thing in the end.

"Just be careful that you don't end up living your life solely for other people. In the end it's stil your life." He said before they were off to the dining area to get their food. Satisfied that he'd done something good for his partner he settled down but then gave her a look. "I don't mind being the boogey man that keeps them away... but don't take advantage of it too much. While I don't care for the masses, I don't want to become the evil guy of the academy. In the end that'll bite me in the a**." He warned her just to be sure. This was a role he'd played in the past and he'd been taken advantage of about as many times. The fact that she seemed to eager about it made him somewhat apprehensive.

"Damn if I know. I don't know what kind of food you can arrange for." He said with a little shrug as he really didn't know what she could arrange. With a frown he noted her plate and how little food was on it. "Playing a rolemodel is one thing, playing an unrealistic one is a whole other. Imagine people passing out because they think they can manage with barely any food simple because they see you're able to." He spoke, pointing the fork at her and waving it a little as he spoke.

He didn't quite know how to react to all the questions about scholing, perhaps he shouldn't have brought it up in the first place "In a way but different. The North taught me everything I know. From people in the village, to animals... and Kinina the fire goddess." He said trying to sound casual about it but there was no way to casually mention being partially raized by a divine being. "I found out most things the hard way but they made me who I am today. Hard lessons are the ones you remember I suppose." He added and tried to smile but didn't quite manage it. "Don't spread the word. Last thing we need is for the both of us to get all the attention. I don't want another horde of worshippers. Subservience makes me sick..." He muttered and started eating.

‘Don’t end up living your life solely for others’ Good advice but Eirwen had no idea how she ever going to achieve this without angering her family, without angering her father and on top of that the white haired woman couldn’t recall when the last time was she did anything for herself, without thinking of others, without considering the consequences her actions might have. As that thought crossed her might again, the words Kai had spoken repeating themselves over and over the white haired woman slowly began eating her salad, her eyes meeting Kai’s as he spoke up again, saying he didn’t mind playing the boogey man but warning her not to take advantage of that too much “I won’t even though it is very tempting. I don’t think anything has ever kept them at a distance and I quite like it but taking advantage of someone is not really my thing so don’t worry.” Again poking at her salad the young woman had no intent on finishing and after a few moments pushed her plate away.

A smile crossed Eirwen’s face when Kai commented he had no idea what kind of food she could arrange for “Anything and everything.” The white haired woman replied “Well I can’t but my father can, so if there’s anything you can think of, anything at all…” it wasn’t too show off that Eirwen said those things but simply because she was going to send her father a list of what kind of food she wanted to see stocked in their kitchen and it would be rather selfish and impolite not to ask Kai about what he might want. But instead of replying Kai noticed her very meager meal and decided to lecture her, saying she was playing an unrealistic role model if she was going to let people believe they can manage with that little amount of food just because she seems to be able to. “And what if I just wasn’t all that hungry today? What if I really do manage? And put that damned fork down, what were you planning on doing with it? Force feed me?”

Leaning back a little Eirwen thought he might actually be capable of trying to force feed her “Please don’t.” The white haired woman muttered before sighing deeply. Who was she even kidding… Yes by now she’d lost her appetite for the salad but all kinds of other food occupied her mind, most of the chocolate variety, chocolate mousse, chocolate covered strawberries, a hot chocolate or just a simple piece of dark chocolate.

Luckily the conversation switched subject soon enough and Eirwen explained how she was home schooled before asking about Kai’s education. The answer he gave her was nothing she’d ever expected to hear and it had her raise her eyebrows “You’re from the North? Now I understand.” Eirwen commented regarding his manners but what had really caught her attention was the mention of the goddess of fire and passion, Kinina. “She taught you?” Eirwen weighed his words, found it quite questionable for any person to have been personally taught anything by a deity but she didn’t deem Kai a liar either. “I don’t like gossip or hordes of worshippers so I’m not about blab about any of this to anyone.”

Several moments and after seeing Kai finish his third plate of pasta and honestly feeling bit sick to the stomach after watching the young man devour it the two of them made their way back to their penthouse. “How can you even eat that much?” Eirwen asked as she entered the room and walked straight towards a sofa chair, sat down, swinging her legs over a side and making herself comfortable “I felt full just watching you.” And just at that moment her stomach decided to rumble “Well maybe not that full.”

Kai gave another shrug when she persisted about the food. "I genuinely don't know. I don't know what the options are. Just choose for me. Once I know what the possibilites are I'll be able to put in some requests." He said and leaned back with a sigh. "I never learned the names of the things I ate. Historically I've eaten what was available, no questions asked. In the end beggers can't be choosers." He uttered and wondered if someone that grew up like her would be able to understand a statement like that. Did she ever have to really beg to get anything she needed in a life or death scenario? Regardless he wasn't going to ask her.

When she got annoyed with his statement he frowned and waved the fork around a little longer. "I would if you keep it up. There's no point in lying to me Eirwen nor have I deserved that." He said calmly and finished the rest of his meal before getting some more. The remark she made about the North earned her a stern gaze from him. "Yes. The North that was abandonned and abused by the rest of the world only to have them end up as the butt of half the jokes in the world. Life is tougher then you think there but people still manage it. The people there earn respect with every breath they utter and every drop of blood they spill against the horrors that live there." He said darkly but there was no threat associated with her though it was obvious he didn't appreciate the casual remark that she made. It was something that he'd heard far too often and he never liked the reactions people had. The issue about his goddess being casually skipped over as he didn't want to discuss more of it in public. As it was it was a rather touchy subject.

Once they were back in their room he glared at her when her stomach rumbled but didn't say anything, it merely served to emphasise the point he had made during the meal. "I have a fast metabolism and we have a test tomorrow. I want to be at my strongest for it." He said simply and settled into the seat as well, right across from his partner. "Look... I don't care that you wear a mask in public, that's your right. But not here, not in private. I'm supposed to be your partner and that means you don't keep anything from me. I'll treat you the same in return." He said with a sigh and lounged back a little, popping his back in the process with a groan. The trip to the university hadn't agreed with him all that much so he was happy to have a somewhat relaxing day after arriving. Tomorrow was going to be interesting with the challenges however but he was still looking forward to them.

"You might want to rush your dad with the food if you're going to keep eating so little in public." He remarked and tossed her a single glance before laying back again. No, manners weren't his strong suit. It wasn't something that he needed to survive but Eirwen was going to find out what had allowed him to survive in an area that was known for being completely ruthless. In the North conventional laws and logic simply didn't apply, men had gone crazy from the things they'd seen there and many military outfits sent their specialists there for training only to have whole groups dissapear. One thing was sure, one did not trifle with the North.

Eirwen hadn’t reacted much when Kai suddenly scolded her during dinner right after she’d made her little remark about the North which in hind sight might not have been the most appropriate response to someone actually from there, raised there. Not only the scolding but the stern look made it quite clear the man did not appreciate such comments and at that moment Eirwen got why people decided to keep their distance when thrown such a look their way. The remainder of dinner Eirwen tried to stay as quiet as possible and when Kai was finally finished with his meal she was glad enough to head back to the penthouse in the hope the mood would change for the better again.

Alas another glare was aimed at the young woman when her stomach decided to rumble. Kai stayed quiet for a while before explaining about his fast metabolism and about how he wants to be at his strongest for the test tomorrow. Eirwen hadn’t actually given the sole test any thought, maybe she should’ve gone for a plate of pasta as well. Too late for that now. A sigh left the woman’s lips as she shifted her position in the sofa chair to a more upright one just as Kai told her that it was her choice to wear a mask in public but that in private she couldn’t keep anything from him, they’re supposed to be partners. “I’m not wearing a mask, not right now anyway.” She replied as she watched the young man lounge back.

Rising from her own seat Eirwen stretched before letting out a yawn “I was actually planning on rushing him.” The white haired woman replied to Kai’s next comment before heading towards the bedroom that had already been claimed for her “I’m going to try to reach him before trying to get some shuteye. Goodnight.” It was rushed and the young woman didn’t exactly wait for Kai to reply before heading in to her room. She realized it might have come across as maybe impolite and while she had thought about apologizing she feared that it might just make things worse, that he’d take it the wrong way again and so she hadn’t, not yet anyway.

The next day Eirwen had gotten up rather early. Her father had come through for her but of course the people deliver all the things she’d asked for needed to be let in and Eirwen didn’t want a knock on their door to wake Kai up so when the food, a lot of it, arrived Eirwen told the delivery people to just leave it all boxed up in the kitchen, saying that she’d take care of the rest. As soon as they left the white haired young woman started to stock the kitchen cabinets and their fridge with everything she could come up with last night, hoping there would at least be something to Kai’s liking.

Taking a step back the white haired woman was rather happy with the sight of a fully stocked kitchen, including a large bowl standing comfortably on the counter filled to the brim with all kinds of fruit “That’s more like it. Looks rather homey too.” She murmured to herself while picking up a green apple from the fruit bowl and taking a large bite out of it. It would be time for breakfast soon so Eirwen suspected Kai would emerge from his own bedroom soon enough.
