I'd call it a high-rise apt building. I guess projects can be high-rises too, but looking at it from ground level it looks like a fairly well-to-do place with no litter or graffiti, large urns filled with flowers in front of the buildings, and expensive late-model cars parked there.

The teen pizza delivery boy accused of raping an upper West Side woman as her 7-year-old daughter slept in the bed beside her is being held without bail after admitting to the sick attack.

Cesar Lucas, 16, confessed “that he went in because he was feeling horny and that he took advantage of her,” according to court papers.

Lucas was delivering pizzas to another apartment in the victim’s doorman building when he took advantage of an unlocked door and found the victim sleeping with her young daughter.

The little girl never awoke as Lucas raped her mother about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.


The victim told the Daily News the creep also stole her iPhone.

Lucas was arraigned Saturday night on charges of rape, burglary, sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

He is being charged as an adult, and held without bail on Rikers Island.

The sicko somehow kept his job at Sal’s Pizzeria on 10th Ave. after an August arrest for robbing a W. 42nd St. apartment during another delivery run.

He was arrested for the rape at work Saturday.

His alleged victim lives across the hall from her mother. The family often kept their doors unlocked to cross back and forth between apartments.

confused I know this is an odd question however, who ordered the pizza?

It says in the article that they neighbours ordered it. The guy then went prowling afterward. Kids like to sleep with their parents occasionally. I used to climb into my parents bed if I had a nightmare or something, until we got our cats which then slept with me.

I don't get all this "blame the victim, she should have locked the door" stuff. Yeah, she should have made sure the door was locked (it's NYC), but that's not a reason to excuse a stranger who walks in planning to commit a crime.

And so what if the child slept through at all? Was the child really asleep (kids that young sleep like rocks) or did she lie still because she was terrified of what was happening to her mother? She may have heard him threaten to hurt her when he attacked her mother.

The perp has confessed that he raped her and that he entered her apartment with the intent to rape her. He may have delivered pizzas to the neighbor before and noticed that she was a single mother, an excellent target.

The incident has some who live in doorman buildings concerned about their own safety.

Some residents said they do not lock their doors because they feel safe with a doorman in the lobby.

“To a degree I think I feel more comfortable,” a Manhattan resident told CBS 2′s Amy Dardashtian.

But others cautioned against that sense of security.


“The minute the doorman turns around to help somebody else to get into the building, next thing you know someone slips in,” Upper East Side resident John Blau told Dardashtian.

After dropping off the pizza, Lucas went down the hallway looking for an unlocked apartment, police said.

The victim’s family told Dardashtian that Lucas was upstairs for more than 20 minutes and no one went upstairs to see what was going on.

One doorman in a different building said that delay would be unacceptable at his job.

“Every delivery, every contractor, everybody carrying a package upstairs is escorted,” doorman Tony Greci told Dardashtian.

The family told CBS 2 that the victim kept her door unlocked because her mother lives across the hall.

Prosecutors said the teen used his pizza boy job to commit another crime this summer.Police said Lucas was arrested for burglarizing an apartment at Silver Towers in Hell’s Kitchen in August but kept his job at New York Sal’s Pizzeria.

An attendant from the woman’s building said a new policy has been implemented barring delivery men upstairs after 10 p.m.
