What does "Halu" mean?

Hello! I ... kind of shouldn't technically be posting here since I don't currently live in Korea.
I aspire to, though. It's part of my career goal, and I really want to talk to people who live there now. ^^; You can kick me out though if I'm not allowed, lol.

Also, I think that "halu" was "haru" as in Haru Haru? Which is an amazing song, by the way ... xD

i want to study korean language and culture and hopefully teach english there at some point. if i can't do that, i'm at least going to learn as much abut the culture as i can and take a visit.

I plan on going to South Korea for a trip in winter 2009/spring 2010.

Also I plan on doing study abroad in 2 - 4 years. (Places I could attend.)

K well, I'm wondering how are half korean/half white people treated in South Korea?
I'm kind of worried when I go I'll just receive rays of hate and spite.
Oh and if I wanted to teach English, would I need an English major? D=

Mmm, I live near Seoul National and my language exchange partner goes to Yonsei. I have some friends who go to Sogang. Yonsei has a really good language program, but it's mostly focused on grammar. My friends who go to Sogang say their program focuses more on spoken language. My co-worker graduated from Ehwa. If you aren't interested in finding any guys at your school, then I guess Ehwa should be fine...but I'd never be okay with that.

I don't think there'll be that much racism towards you. Some might think you are cool. And if you are good-looking, I'm sure no one would care. Korea honestly does put a lot on appearances.

If you want to teach English, you don't need an English major - though it might be a bit helpful. I had to get a TEFL certificate to get a higher amount of pay. It wasn't that hard for me. But if you were an English major, you wouldn't need to get it. But that's just my program...

Hehe. Well, actually, teaching can be difficult - but it really depends on what kind of school you work at. I think it's a really good experience to have, though.

Ah, a senior in high school! My little brother is going through that, too. But he's kind of given up hope already and I'm not sure how to encourage him from across the world. I just finished college in Jun.
