I understand why some people who actually got into the
club treat it as some sort of horrible cancer. Because in reality,
what kind of reward is given the opportunity to spend even MORE
money when you've spent a decent amount in the first place? At
the same time, I look past that. I love the club and think it's an
awesome, new, shiny thing for me to play with and to be excited
about.

I happily spend my money on the site and will continue to do so.

You put it very well. Over the years I've spent a good bit if money in the site but really I see nothing wring with it. People spend money on things that they enjoy right? So how is this any different? Its kind of nice that we get something extra even though we never expected it.

Oh yes. It's always a treat when I get the ability to spend x5 as much as I did already on "lesser" things.

As mush as everyone wants to complain about club verge and everyone that spends their actual money on this site getting some sort of privilege on here I'd like like to say thanks.

I've spent a good amount of money on this site over the years and really it's about time that gaia gives privelages for spending more. Face it, if it wasn't for everyone spending their hard earned money on this site we wouldn't have all the events, features or anything on here.

Yes it did start as a free site, but really it could only stay that way for a while. If they're giving an exclusive shop to the big spenders then so be it. I work in the retail world and know how it is, if the people that spend hundreds geta bit of an incentive then so be it, they are after all the ones that keep this site running after all.

I think all this "money hungry" Gaia thing is rubbish, face it. After all they are the ones that keep this site running year after year so why not give them a bit of an incentive to spend more?

I do not see how Club Verge is a reward for the amount of money we have given them... the reward is to spend more than the amount it takes to get into the club for one item... some of which are only one pose at that?!?

I do not have a problem with a special store, especially the idea of the SD Plus doll of yourself, but to call it a 'reward' is ridiculous.

For those that are trying to compare this to the 'high rollers' in casinos, those players really do get perks and incentives when they go to those casinos... really discounted penthouse type rooms, discounts for their meals and shows, etc. Club Verge on the other hand gives no discounts and actually does the reverse and is selling items that cost almost more than anything they have ever sold in the regular cash shop before (of course some of the recent summer sales items compare to the prices of Club Verge).

That's very true. After seeing how crazy the prices are I'm thinking the guild is the perk and the 'birthday gifts' they mentioned.

There are many many awesome staff who have been lost in layoffs due to money issues. Some that I felt kinda close to (especially JK and Pan for example).

Anything gaia can do to get more income whilst still keeping the site open to all the free users I love. And all the people who do spend thier money on gaia and help gaia do everything they can for us I am very happy with as well.

Seriously if you buy a $1000 halo, Good on you, you deserve a shout out ^_^

Shy Rogue

I really have no objections to Club Verge.
I'm not a member, I have donated in the past. The sale that Gaia had showed that people are willing to pay $50 or more for a pixel item. If they want to give that money to Gaia then that's fine. Nobody should be outraged by people who have the disposable income to spend here.
I've seen other avatar sites sell items at those prices and they tend to sit there for long periods of time, giving those who can't plonk down $50 straight away have time to save up for it if they really, really, want it. I'm just going to take a wild guess and say that the items in that shop will stay there for a lengthy time, unlike the sale items (but people were still pissed off about those too...I guess you can't keep everyone happy...)

It's not a vital necessity to be part of this, I can happily ignore it and it won't effect my daily routine on Gaia. But for those who do donate frequently, it makes them feel like Gaia is appreciating what they are doing to support the site, and giving them the option to buy items that not everyone on Gaia can get their hands on. Everyone loves the limited edition stuff or special items that very few people might have...

Partying Reveler

People like to whine and complain, but really those same whiners and complainers aren't leaving gaia .

A lot of the time people forget Gaia is a business that employs actual people. So if they need to do what it takes to keeps lay offs away and staff happy by all means go for it . At the end of the day there not putting a gun to your head and telling you to buy there s**t . You don't even have to care . So all the negative hate is coming from nothing. At this point it sound like petty jealousy then actual complaints . I mean really , you don't have to be here . You can leave anytime you want no ones stopping you.

People hold hierarchies over stupider things, join date, amount of items, regularity in a certain forum. And it's not like I'm bowing at any verge members feet, nor am I shunning them. The fact that they're a benefactor to the site and keeping it free for everyone else at least deserves a tip of the hat .

Da fuq? Benefactors? As if they're just giving money out of the goodness of their hearts.
They expect an item in return, nothing wrong with that but you're almost putting them on a pedestal. :V

tip of the hat bow down same thing and at least those other "stupider things" are not just a reflection of how much spare money they have to put in to this site
like for instance join date shows how long you have been dedicated to the site and how familair you are with it even knowing its history, amount of items can mean either two things, the hierarchy of people who buy gaia cash or the one of people who actually worked their a** off to get gold to get those items

the exclusion of regular gaians from knowing or even obtaining certain items is just shady like before the cash shops would at least let you know what items you could buy if you really wanted to them but verge requires you put some money and a large amount at that to even know those items, it's hierarchy its giving more privilege to the people with more money to spend on gaia

Wait...so...you're thanking yourself?

..eesh and I thought I had high self-esteem.

We don't need thanking, er, thank you very much. We got our GC; we got our items with it; we got our bonuses; we got our crystal boxes; we got Club Verge. Expecting to be patted on the back even more for treating ourselves is a bit obscene.
