Database migration and what to expect in the near future
We welcomed 2024 by announcing in our
Company Update that a big project was in the works: Database migration.

Because it should take care of the occasional 504 errors that pop up whenever one of our 25 servers breaks for [insert reason here].
Over the weekend, as Lanzer discussed in his latest
Work Diary entry, we began a significant database upgrade that would allow us to move forward in this project:

Our months long database upgrade is starting the important phase of migrating data to updated servers. Once that is done, data can then be migrated to the cloud based database services. There should be no interruption of services during the coming weeks as we finish on these tasks.
Related to this upgrade, we experienced a brief outage this morning just before 10:00 AM PDT. We’re also aware of the numerous reports coming in about expired offers not releasing held funds back to accounts, and our developers are actively investigating to both find and fix the core issue and to refund the missing Gold/Platinum.
Our developers are hard at work to support the smoothest transition possible, but no upgrade of this magnitude will be without issues. Our staff is keeping an eye out for reports of new bugs and errors and flagging them up to our developers as quickly as we see them.
We may encounter more bumps along the way and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue this process.

How you can report bugs/glitches that you encounter:
When a bug/glitch is experienced on Gaia, we ask that you report it through our Bug Report & Technical Support forum. Please check the front page of the forum for a thread that reports the issue you're having and contribute to it if needed before creating one of your own; it's more helpful for our staff who are gathering information about an active bug, and for our developers who are reviewing reports and updating those affected, to work from a single thread. Staff and volunteers regularly check this forum to help troubleshoot issues that affect individual Gaians, to flag up bugs to our developers, and to keep an eye out for urgent problems.
The more specific you're able to be about your issue, the better. Examples, links, steps to reproduce, screenshots, etc., can all be helpful toward explaining and identifying your issue. The Ask the Staff/Pre-AtS threads are not the designated places to report bugs, and should not be used as a replacement for our BR&TS forum. While we do see and pass along bugs that have been brought up at these events, they're not a great place to gather information about or help you troubleshoot what you're experiencing.
