Warrior from the South American Coven

It was October 12th and she was currently packing for her trip to Romania. She knew her clothing would be out of place at the stronghold, but she had a bigger problem. She couldn't speak much english. She had never had a reason to, because her coven has not really associated with big cities or modern humans. They dealt with small villages and preyed on lost travelers, but that did not mean they needed to learn english. Plus she was not a high noble, she was a huntress. She had keen instincts, was fast, and due to her shape changing ability she had the ability to blend into the forest using any shape she wishes. The perfect hunter. "Soledad!" She called out, referring to the human by her name. Soledad was her handmaiden, and it was her duty to attend to her needs, whatever those needs may be. Soledad was also going to be going to Romania with her.

"Tenemos que seguir adelante o no vamos a llegar a la avión antes de que salga el sol ." They were going to be traveling via private plane, curtesy of the French Coven, to Romania. She really was unsure of what a plane was, but the coven leader had given her a crash course in it. It was the safest way to travel for them. The French coven had been generous enough to provide the plane as a sign of good faith. It would be a shame if the South American candidate were to perish by sunlight because another coven would not offer to help. It would only increase tension. They didn't need that at all. They needed to get along, but that was a fantasy currently. They have not worked together, as a whole race, since the time of their great king. The only and last king. They need a new king or leader to unite their race. That was the whole purpose of this experiment, to see if the kids ..candidates, could get along and figure something out. Otherwise their kind would perish.

She held her bag, putting the strap over her shoulder. The bag would be heavy to a human, but she was not a human, now was she? She would have Soledad carry something lighter. She picked up a second backpack and handed it to Soledad. The backpack contained some materials that Soledad might need to make some new clothing, if they needed to do such a thing. It also held some drawings and paintings that Isabela had done over the past few years. She intended to put them on the walls of her new room. She already knew that her handmaiden would be put into an adjoining room, she had been assured of that before she agreed to this. Of course, had any of them really agreed to this? I certainly had not been given a choice. My coven leader had ordered this of me... She had to go, or she would be committing treason.

((Translation: We need to get going or we will not make it to the plane before the sun rises. ))

It is quite late in the evening and there is a silent but cold breeze outside as Darius trails up and down the path of the main gate. A path well worn and traveled by he and a few others as it is their duty to protect the inhabitants that live here. Of course being as quiet and secluded as it is they do not much get visitors, let alone intruders of any sort. Therefore the majority of his time is merely spent twiddling his thumbs or whatever other mundane activitiy he chooses to occupy his time with.

Tonight is like no other though for tonight be the night that the Romanian stronghold is expecting guests and not just one or two guests but several very special guests from strongholds all over the globe. Normally Darius would not even bother to waste his time but hearing that these guests have unique abilities like himself certainly piqued his interest. Unfortunately he is very impatient and has grown utterly irritable at all the pacing and waiting for them to arrive.

He growls as he paces back and forth then throws his hands up in the air as a signification of defeat.

"This is absolutely ridiculous! It's freezing out here and I'm starving! Why do these assumingly spoiled children insist on wasting my time?"

Darius glances at the silver time piece wrapped around his left wrist and shakes his head in disappointment.

"The sun will be coming up at any moment now. Why did the royals ever think for even just a second that a vampire from another coven would willingly come to such a place as this? Nobody is coming, I'm out of he..."

At this point his voice trails off and his head snaps to the side. He had heard something but was not entirely sure of what it was. Maybe somebody has decided to come after all.

"Show yourself!"

Warrior from the South American Coven

From the departing shadows stepped forth the dark haired foreign beauty. She did not understand the words he had mumbled, lucky enough for him. Yet, she was clearly a vampire, seen by her shinning eyes, though the silver was out of sorts for her kind. It was actually a mark related to her gift of shape changing. She stared at the Romanian as she revealed herself. Now, she repeated the english phrase that her coven leader had taught her, to help her. "South America Coven. Isabela." That was all she could do for now. Learning a new language took time, and she had not spent years practicing it. She would have to work hard, but thankfully her handmaiden spoke enough English to be of use to her. Her handmaiden stood nearby, though she had given her handmaiden warmer clothes to wear. The cold did not bother the vampire woman, who was wearing the clothes she normally wore back home.

She took a step forward, closer to the entrance. "No English." She gestured towards her handmaiden as if to explain that her handmaiden was also her translator. So yes, while she did not speak english, she knew a couple phrases that she picked up here and there, that sometimes she overheard humans in the forest use when talking on those funny little boxes. Those little boxes were not weapons, so she saw little use in them. They spoke into them, and little voices came back out. A talking box, but still...not a weapon. When would humans learn? Glancing around, she could smell humans not too far away, as well as the smell of blood. She was old enough to control herself, but the South American tribes hunted both humans and animals. They were far enough away from large cities and modern human societies, that they were able to avoid drama in regards to hunting. Most of the humans they killed were those who went too far from their groups, alone. They never hunted families, children, or the elderly. It was part of their Coven's set of rules. They did not kill those who were weak. It was also a lack of challenge. The challenge was part of the fun of hunting. Part of the thrill.

Soledad carried what she could for Isabela knowing she needed to be of use, but it always seemed like the mistress could carry far more than the average person. It was almost inhuman to Soledad, but she chocked that up to all the physical training her mistress did. She worked harder than any man she had seen in her village, and could most certainly best the greatest of her tribe. Slightly struggling with the other luggage, plus her own small pack, she showed as little sign of it as possible and came scrambling along the beckoning of Isabela. "Ya voy Señora!" Soledad called out obediently and scurried to catch up.

Her attire was a simple sleeveless white peasant gown with a red Spanish flamenco skirt thrown over her waist, stopping a few inches above her ankles. This made it easy for her to walk and run without the dress getting caught everywhere, but still covering most of her legs to look like a presentable maid. She wore simple red slip on kitten heel pumps, the type that cover the toes and heel but leave the sides of the feet bare. This however was covered, along with her legs, with simple black hose to further add to her maid attire. Adorned her wrists were only a few thick gold bangles brought back from her village which her mistress so kindly let her keep, and holding her long ebony hair to the side was a deep red scrunchy that had a large rose on the outer part of it.

Looking up at her Mistress, she reacted quickly to what happened, quickly grabbing the back handed to her and juggling it with the others in her possession. Judging by the way it felt on all sides, she had an idea of what was in it and what could be asked of her in the future. It was a good thing too in Soledad's mind, for if her mistress didn't have the proper outfits for the proper occasion in this new land, they could accidentally offend its leader and that would go against the whole purpose of their move here.

                                      ----

Hearing the sounds of a man call out from what seemed like quite the close distance, she kept close to her mistress, for protection and to protect her. It was a weird contortion of mixed feelings she had, knowing her job was to protect her mistress at all costs, but having a strange deep feeling inside herself that if her mistress was in trouble, there would be nothing she could do because of the large gap in skill level and strength between them. Sometimes it almost felt like her mistress was protecting her, but in her mind, she knew that could not be possible. No Master would be so protective of their handmaiden.

Stepping out into the light after Isabela, she too became visible to the stranger before them. Isabela spoke up to the man before them in English to alert him as to who she was. Soledad, as a handmaiden, knew here place, and that was to be unseen and unheard unless necessary. She had understood what the man initially asked of them but did not yet reveal what he said to Isabela, since they already inadvertently did what he demanded. She also didn't want to stress Isabela by explaining his aggressive tone and the fact that he demanded something of her, so she simply kept it to herself.

Following quietly behind Isabela, she stood with the luggage as best as she could. She was beginning to feel the weight of it all and the air around them was not much help at all. Her outfit was designed for their heat back in South America, and this cold brisk air around them was no fun at all. A breeze blew by, flowing her skirt and blowing her hair. It was annoyingly cold, and she began to shiver ever so slightly, but not enough for most people to know unless they were really observing her. Averting her eyes upward, she heard Isabela speak again to the man, explaining in two words that she spoke no English. After being pointed to, Soledad gave a small bow to the man before her before speaking. "This is Mistress Isabela of the South American Coven and I am her handmaiden. She does not speak very much English but I can translate anything you have to say to her. Please feel free to use me accordingly." With those last words she bowed again, as if bowing to royalty. This is what she was taught to do to everyone because they would most likely be of higher rank than a maid, and judging by his attire and armor, he most certainly was.

Looking at the man more closely, he gave off almost the exact same aura as the people she now worked for, which are much different than the people in her village. He too seemed like he would look at her with the eyes that everyone else in the South Coven gazed down upon her with, as if she were a wolf looking upon a rabbit. Regardless, it never amounted to anything bad back home, so she paid the the thought no further time, and continued to speak to him. "The Mistress is eager to get inside before the dawn comes. Do you have a room prepared for her already?" Soledad spoke trying her best to take care of her mistress's comforts and needs. She wasn't sure why they always traveled at night, or why she wouldn't go out in the sun, but she assumed it was a trait that was part of their group. She was awake a lot of the day and it was always quiet, with not many of the coven people around, but at night, they all seemed to thriving. But again, she was not allowed to indulge finding answers for these curiosities so she most likely may never know.

Darius lets out a chuckle at Soledad's question. Apparently this servant has absolutely no idea to whom she is speaking. He, Darius Lynk, prepare a room? That is the duty of the attendants, the humans. Of which obviously this handmaiden certainly is herself. The alluring aroma floating in the air between them is enough to drive any vampire mad especially that of one that is already starving as it is.

Darius is half tempted to snap at the girl but he decides that really is not necessary and would only cause avoidable conflict. He forces himself to smile as he glances from Soledad to Isabella and back again.

"Greetings, I am Darius Lynk. I welcome you to our home and hope that you will enjoy your stay here. There is a room that is awaiting your arrival. Follow me, I shall lead the way."

He abruptly turns around and begins heading into the main entrance, assuming that the two females are following close behind him. Darius then makes a sudden stop and does a three sixty, once again facing them. He has recalled that the puny human seemed to be struggling with her job of carrying luggage. He walks over to her and retrieves the luggage before effortlessly hoisting it onto his shoulder then continues on his way.

"Keep up, human."

Soledad's attentions were raised when he had laughed. It peaked her curiosity as to whether or not something she said was funny or if her rank was amusing, as it had been a few times among the South Coven members, but she reacted none to it and continued a fair amount of eye contact on him, not wanting to be rude or disrespectful. In her own thoughts among the small amount of silence and wait, she wondered whether or not this new place would be similar to her other home at the South. Would they too have ranks among the people with other servants she would be put to work with, or would she be forced into a new job. Although the latter was highly unlikely as she felt Isabela would not have this. That thought brought her a warm smile internally which she showed no signs of on the outside.

Diverting her attention back to reality, she watched his eyes flow to and fro from her to Isabela, but stopping on her. This was new to her. No one ever paid her the respect of looking at her while speaking to her. Usually they just faced Isabela and spoke about her as if she wasn't truly there. It startled her to which she showed a visible sign of, having a surprised and alert look about her face. Everything happened so fast she almost missed what he had said, and quickly she responded with a 'Thank you' before directing her attention to Isabela in an excited manner, like a child allowed to play with a toy she had been wanting to for ages. "Señora, Señor Lynk estará mostrando con nosotros dentro. Ven conmigo." She too wished to go inside as soon as possible. Soledad could feel her fingertips, nose and ears freezing, not to mention her legs each time a gust blew up her skirt. Her arms were bare, but at least her shawl brought a small amount of protection from the wind.

Turning around quickly, she rushed to catch up with Darius, but at the same time trying to stay near Isabela, as to not leave her side. But if only for a moment, she had decided to walk up to the man, in order to give him a more proper thank you, since her previous one was cut off by her startled reaction to his action. As she sped up to him, she came to an extremely abrupt halt, almost dropping the luggage she was barely hanging on to. A surprised look was on her face with slightly widened eyes and an elongated torso. She relaxed and leaned slightly forward, about to ask if something was the matter, only to have him take the luggage from her hands. She was nearly speechless. Struggling between emotions of confusion and curiosity, she stood there slightly shocked. He had already begun walking away from her, and she quickly caught up to him and walked by his side. "S-Seño- perdón... Lord Lynk. Y-You don't have to hold all those, especially for someone like me. Please, hold Mistress Isabela's bags instead."

Her hands inched towards the bags, mostly expecting him to give them to her, as she was most accustomed to all the while having thoughts race through her head. What would they say to her if they saw him doing her job? Would she get in trouble, or perhaps this was the norm at this coven. Maybe he did not understand that she was only a lowly handmaiden. She did not know. Looking down at her hands, she could feel the blood returning to them. It was such a relief to not hold the heavy bags, even her own, but she would dare not tell a soul of them. Her fingertips grew red as the blood was finally able to leave, freeing her hands to finally warm themselves. "And..." Soledad spoke timidly "Thank you very much, for showing us your hospitality my Lord."

Warrior from the South American Coven

The mistress was a bit confused by what we going on. She did not understand the words they spoke or what had transpired. Instead, she looked to Soledad, who was supposed to be her ears, since she could not understand what was said. "¿Qué está pasando en Soledad ?" She paused, and waited a moment, waiting for her handmaiden to follow her orders and respond to her. Why had he taken Soledad's luggage? "Pregunte cielo si hay reglas aquelarre eventuelle que necesito saber , y si eventuelle de los otros después de haber llegado." She said, speaking in her native tongue. She had no problem asking Soledad to ask sensitive questions, that humans would normally take no participation in. She really did not have too much of a choice, really. After all, she couldn't speak English. Or any other language, actually. It was Spanish only for her. She was not a noble, thus her coven leader had not forced her to learn English as she had the noble children. She had been the child of a hunter and it was a simply life. She knew her duties to her coven, and if her coven leader had not ordered it, she could not be here.

She scratched at the necklace at her throat. It was a necklace, a simple leather chain with a little tooth at the end. The tooth was actually that of the first animal she had killed on her own, during a hunt. She had been forced to prove herself as a child, like all hunters were. It had taken only a few hours for her to hunt down a prey of choice, of course it did help that she had a leg up. While she had not transformed by then yet, she still had a leg up. But everyone had passed that year. She kept walking, now inside.

((Translation: "What is going on Soledad?" -- "Ask him if there are any coven rules I need to know, and if any of the others have arrived." ))

Walking anxiously by Darius's side, Soledad was distracted from her quest for the luggage upon hearing Isabela's confusion. Turning around immediately, she slowed her pacing to better speak with her Master. Isabela seemed quite confused as to what was going on, but Soledad wasn't sure if it was something specific or in general. After her first question, she asked a second, requiring Soledad to speak to Darius directly once again. Walking by Isabela's side, she thought for a moment as to what she needed to say to help her master understand what had happened. After that pause, she glanced up at Isabela and spoke normally, her shy timid submissive nature unseen when speaking to her Master. "Ah, Señor Lynk no está mostrando a nuestras cuartos. Y..." She had no true answers for anything else Isabela had questions to, and Soledad puzzled over them for a moment, trying her best to find an answer for her. "Y, el Señor está siendo muy amable conmigo, pero no te preocupes; voy a hablar con él acerca de su pedir." With that she brisked up her pace towards Darius once again.

After nearing his side again, they had walked through the grand doors to the extravagant Romanian Stronghold. It was indeed a stronghold; even the interior emanated strength and stability all with a touch of their place in the heir achy of humanity, which was very high. In awe of her new surroundings, she was almost distracted from her Master's orders, and quickly snapped herself back to her goals. Walking near Darius again, she spoke to him, with a submissive tone but a small tone of assertiveness to try to eliminate her shyness. "Mistress Isabela would like to know if there are any Romanian Coven rules that she should obey." Pausing for a moment, she almost forgot the other request. "Y if any other Coven members have arrived." Speaking between the two languages, something she hadn't really done, caused her to speak broken English on the occasion. She always tried to correct herself before hand but sometimes, it just slipped through.

Walking a little behind him, her pacing slowed at the realization of something he had said earlier that she had paid almost zero attention to. 'Keep up, human.' Eh? This caught her attention moreso than she had ever thought possible and only furthered her curious mind into wondering what exactly he meant by that. The problem with Soledad was that at the South American Coven, they had somehow been able to hide exactly who they were from her and the other servants. With the rules in place about absolute obedience and no pursuing curious thoughts, Soledad was left in the dark as to the true race that these people were. She knew not of how the 'wine' they drank was in fact blood, and that it was the reason why the Coven smelled like decay. And she was never allowed to question why people looked at her like prey, and only speculated a naive notion that it derived from rank, her being the lowest of the low so that was how they looked upon her. Any one with a more experienced mind might have figured out the answers to all these extremely suspicious actions that these people did, but Soledad came from such a small tribal village that she only knew how to do her skill set and she stuck to what she knew, and that had allowed her to be a very good handmaiden to Mistress Isabela. Sniffing the air, it reminded her of the South American Coven, and again, there were many people this late at night. She could only assume with her ignorant yet innocent thoughts, that it was because they had all the Coven guests arriving tonight. Mumbling out loud, she repeated the words '..human' as she delved into her curiosity while walking beside Darius to where he would lead them.

Josette's Theme: La Petite Mort
xxxxJosette looked out the passenger side window and marveled over the Romanian forest and mountains that loomed in a great black silhouettes behind them. This country was beautiful, even in the darkness. The sky started to turn from black to navy, a colorful count down for the rising sun. The vampire had never had the opportunity to see a real sunset being a born vampire. As a girl she would beg her mother to describe what the seeing the sun was like, how it felt to have it on your skin or to see it through a stained glass window. Yet even having it described to her was not enough for young Josette.

As a girl, she stayed up late, or early according to a human cycle, and watched for the sun. Waiting for it was beautiful by itself. Seeing the sky turn a rainbow of colors. From dark blues and purples to pinks and oranges and finally the bright yellow. Her bright green eyes strained at the shear power of the ball of hydrogen. A prickling sensation broke out across her face, which turned into an itch. before long the brilliant light started to burn her face. She screamed, plagued by the demon sun. Her cursed skin was saved by her nanny who had noticed little Josette was missing from her bed in the nursery. She couldn't remember anything after that. She was in and out of consciousness, dreaming about the sun searing her delicate vampire skin. Her burns healed eventually, leaving little freckles on her pale face, a constant reminder of the sun and it's glorious but deadly rays. She remembered nanny consoling her over her ruined face. "Mon cher bébé ne pleure pas maintenant. Savez-vous ce que ces freackles sont? Ils sont baisers des anges." she said as she wiped the tears from Josette. As she thought of that moment she reached up to her face and touched her face. "Baisers angel," she said aloud with a little smile on her face. She enjoyed her freckles, her little angel kisses. Funny that her nanny would call them that. Most of the world thought her race were demons; a scary monster told to children. Now a days vampires were becoming a fad. Between movies and books, and that oh so horrible story about those sparkle skinned vampires, it was cool to be a vamp. Though the human world would be awfully bored with reals ones. Besides the blood sucking and hiding from the sun, they lived pretty simple lives for the most part. Funny she should be thinking of such things when she was in the home of the most notorious vampires in the world. Only one of them was known to most humans which was Vlad Von Tepes, Dracula to most. Josette wondered if the old bat was still around, lurking in the shadows.

The driver drove onto a gravel road that led up to what must be the Romanian Stronghold. It was old looking, gothic in style. Yet it wasn't without it's charms. It looked like the buildings from the old days. even before Josette was apart of this world. A smile broke out across the girls face. She couldn't wait to get on the inside and see the interior. Would it be older with thick velvet drapes, tapestries and paintings of old vampires before them? Or would it be more modern with simplistic and minimal styling to it? Not only was she curious about that, but also of those who would join her there, the other born. She was one of five born into the race and gifted special abilities. The whole future of the her race rested on these young vampires and herself. Her green eyes looked down at her hands, turning the ruby and diamond ring on her finger like she always did when she was nervous. It was by far her favorite piece of jewelry along with the matching necklace. It was a present given to her on her 100th birthday from her father. He hand selected each ruby and diamond and made her a one of a kind set onlyy made once for his beloved daughter."Vous, bébé, êtes mon bijou rare et vous valez plus que tous les bijoux dans le monde." She had worn the ring ever since that day, only matching it with the necklace on special occasion and this was one of those times.

The town car stopped. It was finally time to face her destiny. She quickly pulled out her compact mirror from her black Chanel handbag and looked at her freckled face. Luckily her bright red lipstick didn't smudge off on the plane ride over and her hair looked fairly neat in a loose chignon. This was it, the place that she would prove herself and represent her coven leaning so heavy on this meeting to go well. The driver opened her door and offered a hand to her. She took it, making sure to be careful not to fall in her red pumps. Gravel was never good for heels. "Merci" she said causal to the driver. The young woman smooth out her black skinny jeans and adjusted her top over her cropped tank top. It maybe a little inappropriate to wear a shear blouse with just a bra, so she settled for the cropped look instead. Her navel was there for all to see but she had the body to pull it off so why not. As she looked up to see the entrance she saw two young ladies with luggage being escorted by a very handsome young man inside the building. Josette quickly took her bags from the driver, thanked him and rushed over to the small group. "Attendez-moi se il vous plaît! I'm here!" She made it over to the three of them and smiled. "May I accompany you inside?" That's when she looked over at the girls. The one vampire was a beautiful, exotic looking woman with piercing eyes. This must be the vampire from South America, the one her coven loaned the jet to. The other girl smelled human to her. Though she was pretty and Josette loved her cultural look in traditional blouse and skirt. How very cute. "You must be the born from South America. Cest un plaisir de vous rencontrer ! Oh how rude of me, let me say that again in your tongue. Es un placer conocerte." She turned to the young man as well. He had a face of a Greek statue and a light goatee around his kissable lips. "Vous êtes sacrément chaude," she said, hoping he couldn't understand her. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well. I am Josette Bijoux of the coven Français. A pleasure to be in your company."

Translation:
"My dear baby don't cry now. Do you know what those freackles are? They are kisses from the angels." "Angel kisses" "You, baby, are my rare jewel and you are worth more than all the jewels in the world" "please wait for me" "It's a pleasure to meet you" "damn you're hot"

Darius looks from each of the three women before shaking his head and turning away to continue walking.

"De ce voi, femeile vorbesc atât de al naibii de mult? You ask too many questions..." (translation: Why do you women talk so damn much?" wink

The first part of his sentence was purposely in Romanian, as he is highly doubtful a single one of them will understand it. He makes sure the last part is in English, at least the human would understand that and maybe the younger French vampiress.

He is leading the three females down a long, dark hallway when Soledad inquires about any rules that she and her master should be aware of. This causes Darius to stop and abruptly turn around to face her and the other two women.

"No, human. We here are not big fans of having a lot of rules and regulations like the majority of the others. All I request is that you all show some manners and be respectful, use common sense really."

He points to the French girl as he proceeds to answer the slew of questions that were previously presented to him.

"Besides you two, she is the only other that has yet to arrive. I honestly was about to take my leave of the front gate when you and..."

Darius pauses briefly trying to pull information from his mind. He is absolutely horrible at recalling other's names and generally gives people nicknames that he can easily remember them by. Poor Soledad has already received one and does not even no it yet. Silly human.

"Bella...?"

He lets the name slowly roll of his tongue in question as he is not entirely sure if he has gotten the name correct or not. She does not much look like an Isabella to him. Gabriella, maybe. The woman does have some amazing eyes though but then again she is a vampire after all.

"When you and your master arrived, I was in the midst of leaving. So it is good that you showed up when you did. Elsewhere you would be roaming around this place completely clueless as to where to go or what to do."

Darius goes to turn back around to continue their journey but stops half way to turn back once again. He steps over to Josette, setting the luggage he had been carrying around down before putting his hand out toward her in a polite gesture.

"Might as well get all the introductions out of the way before we go any further, somebody else might decide to show up in the process. Miss Josie, I am Darius Lynk. I will be yours and everyone else's host for your stay here in Romania. Și crede -mă plăcerea e de partea mea."(translation: And believe me, the pleasure is all mine.)
