Masao Reyen

Masao watched with some relief as the initial Osales fell to it's death thanks to their combined efforts. However, his relief was short lived as the next attack began. Masao's bat remained initially, helping light what area it could as elementals and others began foiling the beasts' plans. As the first fell, he felt more and more confidence grow in the group. That is, until an all too familiar scream echoed through the air. Masao turned just in time to watch as what was once a water elemental fall in pieces in a pool of blood and entrails. His eyes widened and his mouth fell open as he stared at the body, in shock that it could have happened so quickly. He hadn't even known the poor girl's name...

What happened next was a blur. He felt a sudden pressure in his right shoulder, coupled along with a force that brought him to his knees. Eyes still wide, Masao's vision slowly turned to his right shoulder. A shard of rock was extruding from his shoulder, the end that entered was peaking through the back. He stared at it, time slowing in his mind as he wondered how everything started so well and then went so bad. It was a mess, attacks were flying everywhere and they were being injured or killed one by one. Time almost seemed to halt now, and his sense of hearing was gone. Without thinking to do it, he watched his left hand reach up and grab at the shard in his shoulder. The tighter he gripped, the more the sensation of pain stung throughout his body. As his senses returned, his grip group stronger until he gave a forceful yank while gritting his teeth. He could feel the pressure lessen as the shard fell before him, he lurched forward as his left hand grabbed at the wound, watching the pool of blood forming below him. His shoulder was a sight to see; the hole exposed the now shattered bone and torn muscles, while bleeding profusely. The arm hung there limp and useless as blood trickled down.

After a moment of letting everything settle in his mind, Masao finally forced himself to his feet. In the time he had been injured much had transpired. It seemed a good group of them were now protected by some sort of earth dome, but not everyone made it inside. As far as Masao could see himself, Cici, Yoren, and another elemental he did not know were still capable of becoming the birds prey. If there were others, he did not notice. His attention first went to Yoren, who seemed to be the only one left holding the cliff together, and was intent on doing so until his very death. "Yoren! Don't you dare be a hero! The first chance you get, get out of there safely! I'll make sure that damned bird doesn't hurt anyone else..." Though truthfully, it was hard to say how much he could really do. The previous attacks took a lot more energy than he expected, and he was growing fainter by the minute.

The other to catch his eye was the blonde elemental he did not know. But at the moment, that didn't matter because it appeared he was incapacitated. Masao made the short sprint over to him, his right arm flailing at this side. Kneeling before the man, he came to the conclusion that he had over-exhausted himself in the battle. "If you've still got some energy left, save it. I may need your help if this thing decides to come for us." Introductions would have to wait, assuming they made it out alive...

Masao finally turned his attention to the warrior Cici. He was astounded with the woman's raw strength, she was practically standing toe to toe with the Osales and winning, at least as far as he could tell. He was thankful for the warrior, and made a mental note that he would have to straighten out their previous conversation from the night before. Again, assuming they all made it out. It seemed she was finishing the beast off, but it was not giving up easily on her. Just in case, he kept his left hand at the ready with a small flame in his palm, ready to send out a final burst of energy if needed. The idea to light the tornado on fire came to mind, but as he looked to the looming storm, his heart sunk. The attack had come loose, and was now just as ferocious as a wild storm, and worse yet, heading in their direction. "Everyone get down!!" He shouted to any that could hear. He himself turned towards the ground and got as low as he could, hoping the elemental near by understood to do so as well. As he laid their, a sharp pain reminded him of his shoulder. The flame in his left palm dimmed and died as his energy faded. His vision started to blur and blacken, until the elemental lay there now unconscious from blood loss and fatigue. Having already been lying down, it was doubtful any would notice until everything cleared.

Environment Alert!

As the claws of the vulture met flesh, it enjoyed the feel of tearing skin under its nails. What it didn't enjoy was the cold steel blade that was thrusted into its chest. As the sword pierced the thin bone that protected it, it broke and splintered. Small sharp chunks of the breast plate punctured and damaged the precious organs that the blade did not. The Osales was now running on pure adrenaline and nerves as it helplessly flailed against the warrior's brute strength. In a feeble attempt to escape the bird thrashed it's head downward where its neck was caught in an armored fist. Trying to let out an agonizing cry it found that it could not, Its windpipe had been crushed in the woman's amazing grip. Next, it felt her heave as she attempted to throw the bird. Feeling itself being pushed back the vulture spread its forty foot wide wings and propelled itself back forward. By doing this it used the last of its strength and fell limp and lifeless upon the warrior Cici.

Meanwhile, the twister that was heading for Yoren was beginning to slow. It still had the strength to pick up large chunks of rock and throw them every which way. Already, a few had landed near Yoren and now some were headed right for him. The boulders were not of any serious size but they were coming at him with enough velocity to leave some nasty bruising and, if he was really lucky, some broken bones. In addition to this the water that Ebony had lost had seeped into the cracks of the cliff and soaked the softer loose stones. Slowly the cliff was becoming thick with mud and slipping down the canyon wall.

Not far from the edge of that cliff stood Kristen and Gerik. The Large spike that had been flying right at her head had found its mark. Only brief moments ago the sharp rock pierced right through her face. Its point buried itself into her head and just kept going. The girl didn't even have a chance to scream before the it had made it through the opposite side of her skull, dragging with it pieces of brain matter. Once it found its final destination in the soft muddy ground behind her, chunks of skull fell around it. The ground had been littered with bits of scalp with Kristen's long dark hair still attached. The pinkish tissue seeped red blood that intermingled with the blood that dripped down the earthen spear. Slowly, the weight of the warrior's dead body began to succumb to the effects of gravity, and sunk back towards the ground. As her head traveled the length of the spear one last time there was a sickening noise of wet suction and grinding bone. When she was finally laid upon the soil it seemed as though the poor soul could finally rest. Instead the ground beneath her began to give way.

The crumbling of the cliff started slow. First it began dragging Kristen over the edge, creeping until it simply began to fall away. Along with it, it took the warrior Gerik and a large portion of the canyon wall. Luckily for the rest of the group, it was only the edges that fell away; due to Yoren and Tacita's hard work their remaining companions would be left on safe ground. Were anyone to look over the edge of the cliff there would be no bodies in sight, only a pile of slick mud and broken rock. At least the fight was over now, as the final twister slowly blew itself out. A quiet dark blanketed the adventurers, the sweet taste of calm and victory was finally upon their tongue. If only it were not tainted by the bitterness of death and the loss of friends.

Now that Ebony had finished her attack the Osales came swooping down upon the warrior. With an "eep" the girl scuttled to the side and out of the way of the grand clash of the warrior and the bird. As she did so the image of the stranger filled her vision. The poor man was about to be bowled over by the remaining tornado, With swift feet she raced over to him. Already there were stones flying about and the wind whipped her hair about her. For once her face was no covered by her bangs revealing a pair of deep blue-violet eyes. Her Cheek bones her high and defined and her face quite stunning in an ethereal way.

Running to the man's side she wrapped her hand around his bicep and began to pull him away from danger. Though she held an uncanny strength in her body the large man surely would not budge easily. His hands were anchored to the earth as a tried to hold the collapsing cliff. "We have to move from here, its to dangerous!!" she yelled over the whistling winds. Holding up her scythe she began deflecting the rocks that were coming at them. Glancing back over her shoulder she saw the two warriors tumbling over and being engulfed in the mudslide. "We have to go now, its to late for them they have gotten their chance to live!" she pouted. Turning she bent down and put grabbed the man once more. Using whatever strength she could muster she pulled at the earth elemental. She would not give in would let go and move with her to safety. Already the twister was throwing more rocks at them, if they didn't get out of the way they would both surely be hit by them.

Yoren had fallen into an almost trance-like state, focused on nothing else other than his work of holding the cliff up. But Masao's voice pierced it, along with the tornado that was suddenly headed right for him. The water elemental who had weakened the cliff earlier was there too, tugging at his arm. She was surprisingly strong for her build, he noted. "Don't have to tell me twice!" he shouted, over the roar of the wind. But it was just then that a rock flew at him, hitting him in the right leg. Thankfully, it was not large enough to crush the limb, but it knocked him off his feet and flat onto his face, and his ankle twisted around as he fell - he could have sworn he heard a crack, as of splintering wood. Between the two, they had pulled Yoren away from his position quite effectively.

Yoren scrambled to his feet, and made a sort of inelegant shuffle back from the edge, as his face had been but a few inches away from it. Had he been any closer, he would have fallen to his death. He had not joined the warriors who would have been his companions in their fate, buried in a mudslide. The great grinding crack of splintering rock, the area that had once been their battleground now long fallen, sickened him.

It seemed an eternity before Yoren could stop rmoving, realizing that he was now on safe ground, his leg screaming in agony. He had a few scrapes (thankfully not too deep) from tiny shards of earth that had flown past, and his every muscle ached. The ankle didn't look too bad - it was tender and slightly swollen, and faintly livid. He would be able to walk, but with a limp. But he was alive, and that was more than could be said for some members of the group. "Well, now," he huffed, leaning against the rock wall, for he could barely stand upright. "Good... to see... some of you again. Perhaps not... the introduction... I'd have liked..."

After the drop of the dead female body, events transpired quickly. She wasn't sure why, but an earthy dome started to appear over a group. The healer caught sight of Clay, who seemed to have collapsed, before the barrier completed itself. It was then she realized she should have joined then. It was bugging her. How slow she seem to react to things around her. But, with no abilities to really help, she simply kept herself away from the area the Osales concentrated on and out of the fighters' way. It was the best she can come up with, sadly.

But Mahala kept alert as she ripped a piece of fabric from her clothes to tie around the injury on her arm. She watched as the strong female warrior, take on the Osales frontally. As the blond air elemental stumbled onto the safety side of the cliff and kept alert to attack. She also took note of each injury they were taking as best as she could. Grimacing when the male fire elemental pulled out the shard that impaled his shoulder, she grew extremely worried on how they will heal before they make it to their target place. There was a sinking feeling that said they would not be able to heal. Not fully. Not if it continues at this rate.

As the last of the Osales died and the cliff fell away, taking two more people with it, Mahala stood and watch until a somber silence fell over them. It was then that she released the tight grip she did not realize she had on her arm. Praying silently, the healer made a beeline to the two male elementals. A swift observational glance at the blond elemental told her he was simply exhausted, if not a little out of it. Mahala did not bother to assess the other still on the ground. She can already guess what happened after that stunt of his. "Sit and do some breathing." She told the blond as she kneeled down beside the fire elemental and pulled out necessary items she'll need. Placing the one of the two canteens she had between them, she pointed at the one she used a few times throughout the day. "Drink some if you need to." She offered before turning her full attention onto the serious injury before her.

"Why did he removed it." She mumbled to herself as she pulled the knocked out man onto his left side with some difficulty. Grabbing the knife, she briskly cut away the fabric around his wound while ignoring the stings of pain she felt from her arm. Afterwards, she grabbed the second canteen she brought out and bit down on the opening for the container. Carefully, she poured the water to wash some of the blood away. Once that was done, she was going to have to quickly start on putting enough pressure on the wound before wrapping it up as neatly as possible.

Anger is like fire. . .
It burns it all clean

Dezra Reiloch

As the earth surrounded the small group of them, Dezra looked up briefly from the wounded girl in front of her. The rock shield has put them into complete darkness, and had also blocked her vision of the light she had already set up outside. From inside of their little fort the fire elemental created a small light, enough to illuminate the little area they were in. The small ball would float in place above them, as she turned her gaze back to the injured Ysemina, waiting on the healer to show up. Her attention was split, however. Without sight of the light she had created on the outside for those still fighting, she was struggling to keep it going. She could only feel it, and it wasn’t quite enough. It flickered constantly, the size and light changing but at least keeping the area illuminated enough for those fighting. The smaller one inside the cavern kept relatively steady, only stressed because most of her focus was trying to control what she could not see.

Finally, it seemed that it was over. While they could not see what was going on out there, the violent shaking of the ground beneath them and the screeching of the Osales had finally halted. Letting out a heavy breath, Dezra let the light outside of the cavern dissipate. Unaware of the condition of the others outside, she had wrongly assumed that Masao would be able to take care of it from this point. With the light on the inside still burning strong, she turned her eyes to the earth elemental that had created their earth lair.

Thank you. I think the fight is over, though. We should assess the damage.” Her gaze was still cold, her words lifeless as she offered her thanks. In truth, she was not happy that they had been confined to such a small space, even if she understood its purpose. She had not been able to provide any assistance from here, and while the battle seemed to be over, she was uncertain if they had come out on top. What she had been able to hear suggested that they did, but even so that did not mean that there were not more fatalities in the process. Both members of her previous team were out there, and both had a tendency to try and push themselves too far. She didn’t like not knowing..

Cherise Beaumont

The battle had become horrific. She had been fortunate enough to avoid being struck by anything, being so far away from the center of the fight, but the chaos was beyond anything that she had seen in her lifetime. Sure, she had experienced loss before, but never on this sort of level. It wasn’t so much that she cared about the people that were being killed. No, Cherise was terrified of the way that the first woman had been so suddenly snatched from where she’d been standing and then torn in half! She’d hardly even had the opportunity to scream. Cherise’s bow lowered slightly as she stared at the falling body, her mouth hanging open. Everything continued to move so quickly, and there was so much destruction. A woman had been speared right through the head by none other than their own attack thrown back at them, and the mudslide followed shortly after.

Her gut reaction was to turn and run. She needed to get away from this. These people – this group – was a death sentence, and Cherise had no intention of dying today. Something kept her locked in place, however. What if she came across one of these things on her own? Cherise was a city girl. She might be able to flee, but it was a full day’s travel to get back to the city, and even then she’d still be on the run. It was at this point that she started to realize that it may have been the goal in sending her here in the first place. The cheeky air elemental was starting to understand that perhaps she was on this mission as an easy way of getting rid of her. Sneaky old folks.. They were crafty indeed!

It was only at this point that Cherise would finally realize that the strange bird creatures were all finally deceased. She had been too stunned to fire off a single shot – lot of help she’d been! She was a little shaky at first, placing her arrow back in its quiver and slinging her bow across her back again. She was luckily far enough from the rest of the group that her momentary lapse in confidence might be overlooked. It was decided, in those few seconds, that she was going to stick around. It wasn’t necessarily because she wanted to, but because she felt that it was better than the alternative. If nothing else, the group did a fantastic job of keeping whatever baddies they had to deal with occupied so she wouldn’t have to.

She didn’t want to deal with the wounded. The tired and exhausted she could deal with, but she could barely handle her own wounds when she had them. Blood just wasn’t her thing, and there was a lot of it about. As she started to step through the wreckage, she was careful to watch her footing. The last thing she wanted was a bloodied boot. Her eyes went from one wounded warrior to the next, her pursed as she considered who she was going to chat with. Finally, it seemed she decided to stop near the other air elemental who had exhausted himself creating those whirlwinds. Without bothering to introduce herself, she took a seat in front of him, motioning for him to the same.

Here. You look tired. I think you could use a nap.” She offered him a lopsided grin and waved again in front of her, waiting for him to join her.

As a plume of smoke rising in the light...

At first it had seemed as though things were going to go the way he'd anticipated- the bird had been headed right for him. As the bird flew closer, he simply stared, a dangerous sort of smile twitching on his lips. It would only be a mere ghost of the full power version, but he was going to throw all he had into the technique used for a sonic boom. He was like a cornered viper poised to strike, ready to take the predator down with the prey. Unexpectedly thought, the bird seemed to change course, heading instead for the warrior who'd been throwing rocks at it. At that moment the fire elemental had come running over, "If you've still got some energy left, save it. I may need your help if this thing decides to come for us." Pale eyes glanced in the man's direction, and Celethelel nodded ever so slightly.

As he'd begun to retract the energy he'd pressurized the air around himself with, he noticed that a large quantity of it was being whisked away. At first puzzled, a dreadful realization soon dawned on him - the last twister had escaped, and it was headed for the team. In a hasty effort to halt the storm, he sent the air pressure as high as he could manage. Being as drained as he was the mere effort seemed to steal his own breath away, doubling him over as he battled the darkness flitting around the edges of his vision for the second time now. He couldn't afford to pass out. Not now. He had to at least be able to hold himself up. With so many people out already, he wouldn't allow himself to put that kind of strain on his teammates.

"Sit and do some breathing." On hearing those words, the air elemental seemed to remember that he had, in fact, been holding his breath for the past minute. Sucking in a breath of relief, he looked up, finding that the battle was over. The twister and the Osales were gone, along with the ground. How will we return along this route if we have no earth elementals once all is said and done? the thought haphazardly floated through his mind, not really sticking around long enough for him to think much further on the subject as he took a swallow of water gratefully.

“Here. You look tired. I think you could use a nap.” He turned to see the other air elemental, and sank down with a sigh. "Thank you." Most days he might be more modest, but in his current state he would gladly accept without hesitation. "...you're Cherise, right?" he asked, regarded her with his now rather mismatched eyes as he lay down. He somewhat recalled hearing about her here and there, them both being air elementals, but they hadn't really met formally.

The battle was over. That much was certain. Retracting his makeshift shelter, stood up, and assessed the damage. The cliff was not doing too well, and neither was an elemental. Tacita wasn't sure which elemental he was, but he was next to the one who had spoken to him earlier. One earth elemental was seemingly unconscious, and the other was worn out. Tacita had completely failed the group by wanting to see what they were capable of. He would have to apologize later. Instead of sitting around and moping now, though, he looked at both halves of the woman whom had been murdered. Putting a hand on the earth, he covered them up with the same sort of shelter he had covered himselves and the others in, albeit a bit smaller.

Putting a hand atop the shelter, he picked it up, making a sort of makeshift suitcase. Walking away from the group, Tacita quietly bowed his head and said a prayer. He prayed to no god, nor did he swear himself to any sort of deity, but he knew this was his fault. He did not blame himself out of sorrow, but out of practicality. He had sat back and waited, instead of taking action. He might not have prevented injury, but he knew he could have at least have prevented death.

"I will give her the proper burial." he muttered softly.

On the other side of the small group, Cici held her sword in her right hand, as she usually did, across her shoulders, while gingerly nursing her left forearm, keeping it tucked close against her stomach. Looking at the damage, she grimaced. This was going to be a long trip. She wasn't stupid enough to blame herself, but she knew things could have been prevented had they talked just a bit more.

"I know you all probably already know this, but we should move. At least to a more secure location."

Her vision was beginning to wane, and the world seemed to be spinning. Loss of blood was beginning to become a factor, but it was not so bad that she would have any problems yet. So long as she stayed away from the edge, she would be fine. They needed to move. If there were more birds, she wasn't sure she'd come away with both of her limbs intact.

No sooner had he suggested that the injured be brought to safety did it form around them. The earth crept up and over them creating a dome of shelter. Thankful for the quick granting of his wish, he slowly knelt down and gently laid Clay upon the ground. The boy was out cold and clearly exhausted but at least he was alive and safe for the time being. Xadrian peered about in the darkness of the shelter trying to see just who all had been allowed within its embrace. Just as his eyes began to adjust Dezra lit up the area with a small flame, he squinted at the sudden change but didn't complain about it.

He was about to finally scan the faces of the people within the enclosure when he felt the energy of another of their teammates disappear. He recognized it as the warrior whom had given him a look the night before. He tried not to flinch when he felt it but the energy surrounding her death felt so brutal, and so instant. There was so much going on outside it was hard for him to keep track of everyone's energy. He thus decided to focus on the elementals closest to him, Tacita and Dezra. Having confidence in the fire elementals skill despite her troubles he focused on helping Tacita. The man was still trying to repair the cliff and the stranger outside was still trying to hold it together. In addition to this he could feel the energies of a few of their group still standing on the unstable cliff. Xadrian channeled as much energy into what the tall creepy guy was doing as he could but it wasn't enough. The cliff began to fall away and with it went the aura of another warrior. Clamping his jaw down and sliding it to the side once he could hear the grinding of his own teeth. All Xadrian could hope for was that he'd survived. The guardian hadn't felt him die, only fall out of reach of his detect ability.

Still there was commotion outside, but it only lasts mere seconds longer before a quiet befell them. It was broken by the voice of his friend and pulled his attention to her, he nodded in agreeance to what she'd said. Yet as the man removed the earth that protected them he did not look around. Instead he was focused upon the guardian Ysmeina, her wound was severe but hopefully there was something the healer on hand could do for her. Looking to the silent and mysterious dark haired woman he asked, "Is there anything we can do to assist you in healing her?" Xadrian was no nurse but if they needed hot water or any other such amenity he would do his best to provide what was needed; even if it meant coordinating with the others.

Moments later Xadrian found himself watching the tall earth elemental take the two halves of Miko away. In his mind he said a silent prayer for her and wished that she find her place with the Great Dragon. He would make sure to give each of the fallen a proper ceremony even if it was only a small and private one. He let his eyes follow the man for a minute before he took the time to really survey what had happened. The Osales had been defeated and fallen upon the white haired warrior. The woman looked weak and was losing blood, she had a pretty nasty would on her arm. Then there was the stranger, Ebony, and Masao, each being of various wellness but overall in good condition. possibly save for the fire elemental. He looked a little... less whole. As for the rest of the group, there was nothing a little rest healing, and bandages couldn't take care of.

Yoren stood stock-still for a few moments, barrel chest heaving, eyes glazed over, ankle gently throbbing with waves of pain. Things were quieter now, and the elementals were already beginning to move amongst themselves, tending to each other, sitting down. He saw the tall, dead-eyed man he had seen earlier repairing the cliff, encasing the remains of the water elemental in a sort of tomb. It made for a more dignified one than the heap of rock at the bottom of the canyon, at least. He bowed his head and said a brief prayer to the Great Dragon himself, before heading off to meet Dezra again.

He was not certain how much he wanted to meet Dezra again. They had had their disagreements on the last journey, after all, and the constant anger burning under the surface of her skin, frankly, scared him. But it would only be for the best - she was, after all, a voice of experience here, and they had some experiences in common. "Well. Good to see you again." He cleared his throat, before continuing to speak. "The Osales are dead, but the cliff collapsed, an' it took two of ours with it. I... I just couldn't hold it together long enough. An' there's a few injured, too, quite badly at that. The healers are tending to 'em, but I'll see what I can do to help." His voice caught in his throat on the last word, and he had to look away briefly, as an expression of guilt crossed his face, as if his failure to hold up the cliff had caused their deaths. Which he supposed it had. And by the time he looked back at Dezra, he was stony-faced once more, before he turned away and stumped off.

Yoren heard one of the warriors saying they needed to move to a safer location. He shook his head internally at that - he doubted most of the group could even move right now. But he had a more immediate interest in Masao, who now lay blacked out, a wound dripping blood from his side. A dark-haired healer was already tending to him, and a man, who from the energy around him was a guardian, was asking if he could help. Yoren threw his own offer in then. "I've a few herbs in my pack, if you need anything to help clean the wound. Been on my own a while, y'see. It's not much, but... anything I can do to help an old friend." He gave a smile, a rather strained and thin one to be certain, but he hoped to ingratiate himself with this new group. Having already seen three of them fall, and having helped them against the Osales, he could not abandon them now. "I'm Yoren, by the way, an' I was with Dezra an' Masao on that last journey. Sorry I didn't have time for introductions. Things were a bit hectic there n' all."

"Bored..."

Water Elemental

An ominous foot stepped forward onto the rough jagged pass that the unfortunate adventurers had found themselves upon. As is bored half closed green iris' had scanned the area. The man who could not be identified as friend or foe merely smiled. A very rare sight for the man indeed. The leather greaves that he had placed upon his legs had showed ever show brilliantly in the mornings light, and by the very same light he could see that the mornings dew hadn't even laid yet, and the ground was soaked. Some of it by blood other parts by water, and maybe even tears who knew?

He shrugged carelessly as he had decided to fully immerse himself in the opening. He had walked not like that of friend or foe, but as if he was an undesired presence, As death himself. Hmm, they didn't even make it to the maze without casualties. A small sinister smile twisted at the edge of his mouth, but that was quickly snuffed. Boring The simple word had plagued most of his life, but it would be postponed until he had met with his new companions.

The odd figure walked past the blonde haired girl whom had decided to comfort another male who had seemed eerily exhausted. As he did he had looked to their left and had noticed the creature. It was an eerie sight with its boned armor, wings, and even parts of its throat, completely detached at some parts, and some feathers flittered all over the place as a very clearly epic battle had taken place. As his eyes had moved from the repulsive creature, his iris had yet found another interesting landmark. A cave in had occurred and it would seem that a battle took place right where it happened. Although there was little evidence to support his theory this was the decision he had compiled on.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hours before

The brownish blond haired male, had escaped his meditation classes for the day just long enough to check the mail. As he did he had noticed a suspicious looking envelope addressed to him. Its contents had explained that there was an adventurers party in the Silva Forest. In it had contained any and all information that he would need to prepare for the journey. It took him an hour to obtain the provisions from the city, and another two hours to find the party. In his letter had explained that one of the elementals are most likely dead by now and that he was serving as a replacement, for the land of Aladora.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Present

The morning light had lit up his leather protected torso, and his features could truly be made out. On his person he had only brought one thing a small water satchel that hung loosely from his left hip. His full frame was an average males. He was 5'9 and at about 150 pounds. His Brownish blonde hair was disheveled and completely amuck as if he just woke up. He had placed one of his rugged hands up to his mouth as if to stifle a yawn. As much as I hate those Elders I want to know how they do it. He spoke to himself referring to knowing there was already death.

"Well, I've postponed this long enough... My name's Xethias Yolres. I am here as a replacement Water Elemental. The Elders sent me." He had then sent a hand into his pocket clearly looking for something. "Now hold on I just had it..." He said as he franticly began searching for something in all of his pockets at once. "Aha, Found it, This is the letter the Elders sent me." The piece of paper was found in his shoe, and was all crumpled up, and could easily tell that it was ill taken care of. His tone of voice wasn't too convincing either. It sounded monotone, and just completely bored to be where he was as it was.

Anger is like fire. . .
It burns it all clean

Dezra Reiloch

As soon as the structure which had been protecting them was gone, Dezra turned her attention to the rest of the group. She was surprised to find them in darkness. She had expected Masao to take care of keeping the area well-lit so that they could take care of the wounded. A worry settled in her stomach, and her eyes moved around the group more frantically. Her count of the survivors was incorrect – or they had lost more while she had been trapped. Finally, those dark eyes widened as they landed on the fallen figure of Masao being tended to by the healer, but before she had the opportunity to react, a large, familiar figure had approached her.

Any worry had been instantly wiped from her expression as Yoren spoke up. She was quick to return to that cool and calculating gaze, sizing him up as he gave her a status report. At the very least, he was being useful and concise. Perhaps he had become more sensible since their escape from the maze. The event had certainly had an impact on her, so she supposed she should not be surprised that it would affect him as well. After he had finished, she had given him a simple nod of thanks, and he walked away quickly enough. She looked briefly back at the guardian in front of her. By now, surely the healer had arrived, and Xadrian was there as well. She stood from her place before the wounded girl, allowing them to do a little work. For the time being, there was nothing that she could do. She would have to wait on their assessment before she could help.

Xadrian, please assist the healer with this one. There’s nothing I can do here yet.” Her tone was even and robotic. Dezra had essentially shut down at this point, viewing the massacre’s aftermath more as a series of tasks now than the bodies of friends. The tall earth elemental Tacita, who she had earlier noted for being mostly pointless during the battle and had so far done little to prove her wrong, had taken the body of the water elemental and was preparing to bury her. It was the first truly useful thing that she had seen him do. Quite frankly, she had seen his protective cavern as more of an irritation than a help. It had prevented her from assisting with the defeat of the beast, and the more she looked at those injured and fallen, the more she resented him for it. She faced at the wounded warrior as she spoke up about moving and nodded slowly. “Yes, it would be ideal that we move, but we first need to get everyone up and moving. There are more pressing issues at hand.” She glanced over her shoulder at the rest of the wreckage, attempting to find some use for the warrior, and then smirked a little to herself as she spotted the first bird. “We’re going to need to eat tonight,” she said to Cici as she turned back to her. “The Osales, disgusting as he is, will have some decent meat on him. Why don’t you acquire some for us. You’re good at slicing things up, right?” She raised an eyebrow at the girl, daring her to challenge her, but didn’t give her more than a second to do so before she had turned away to deal with the rest of the damage.

Again, her attention fell upon Masao. He was unconscious and bleeding, and the wound looked like it had gone all the way through. She hesitated, considering whether she should assist, but realized that once again there was nothing for her to do here. The healer and Yoren were already working on it. The most that she could think to do was to leave behind a small ball of fire over their heads as a source of light for her to work by, as well as one for Sabine and Ysemeina. With most of the others being assisted, she found herself face-to-face instead with the newest member of their team, apparently sent by the elders shortly after their departure. She stared at the boy impatiently as he hunted for his letter, and was clearly not impressed when he pulled it out of his shoe, of all places.

I am Dezra Reiloch, fire elemental. You appear to have arrived just in time to be completely useless to us in the field of battle. So, to make up for it, I’m tasking you with getting us a supply of clean water. We’ll be needing it to assist with taking care of the wounded, and our other water user is… busy.” Sure, Ebony was probably tired, but Dezra’s primary concern at the moment was with how dense the girl was. She didn’t expect her to be able to follow orders. “There is a river running through the canyon below. We’ll need it to be of drinking quality. If you can purify water – I’ve heard a select few are able – then we could also use some for the wounds. However, if you’re not, then it’s not worth the risk of infection.” She paused, considering whether there was anything she wanted to add to it. “Just hold onto it, we’ll let you know when we need you. Do you understand?

Once the girl had begun pulling on the man's arm he seemed to become more aware of his surroundings. She was so happy to see that he was going to move, that she let go of his arm, bounced and clapped. An expression of joy could be seen on her face as the wind and dirt wildly whipped about them and threatened their lives. While Ebony celebrated her small victory a large rock whizzed past her head, and bashed into Yoren's leg. Once the water elemental stopped and looked down at the man she winced at his injury and said, "ouuuchie." She then moved to help him to safety.

Once the the two were out of harms way the girl noticed that everything was quiet. Looking about she observed that the wind had died, along with the osales, the cliff, her teammates and the light of day. Much had changed in this small area since they'd arrived... When they had walked into it, it had been sunny, and pretty, and not crumbly, there wasn't blood everywhere, or body parts, and bunnies. Or at least she imagined there to have been bunnies hiding somewhere. Ebony's mind continued to trail off, stopping only for subjects that included octopuses or food, until finally she realized that she was standing alone. The stranger whom she'd helped along was a short ways away and talking to the healer. Deciding to follow the large fellow around, Ebony trotted after him.

In the few strides it would have taken to reach him, Ebony managed to nearly trip and fall. Precariously re-balancing herself after a bunch of arm flailing she let out a a sigh of relief. She then looked to see what it was that had been obscuring her path, only to find a gaunt looking man at her feet. Kneeling down to take a better look at him she began to wonder if he was alive. Though instead of it being the beat up look about him, or the pallor of his skin, it was the fact that he hadn't moved an inch that concerned her. If she'd have been looking closer she'd have noticed that his chest was still rising and falling in a steady rhythm; but that would be expecting too much of her. Leaning her face in close to his she squinted her eyes at his profile... She then slowly raised her hand and poked his cheek. When he didn't seem to respond to this her eyes became fixated on the spot she'd touched. "Are you going to live too now?" she asked Clay as she poked his face again... and again, and again, and again, until she was mesmerized by the simple action and enjoying it thoroughly.

Cici, watching as Dezra took obvious delight in ordering people around, let out a sigh as she was told to obtain meat from the downed Oscales just because she "was good at slicing things up". It didn't bother her so much though, people like her never looked any further than their own world, as narcissistic as she was. However, it did bother her that this was one big power play. It was obvious by the look on her face. In the end though, it didn't matter; Cici wasn't one to complain. She had to make herself useful, but she was going to have to bother the fire elemental in order to get anything done.

Before she did anything else, Cici walked over to Dezra, the fire elemental, and held her arm out. Blood immediately began flowing, and falling onto the ground. Cici was at least polite enough to keep the blood away from anyone else, though her eyes were beginning to glaze over as a side effect. It didn't matter how strong she became, losing blood always did the same, though neither her voice nor her legs wavered. Multiple lacerations from the talons of the bird scarred her forearm, and would likely only be more scars to decorate her body, but that didn't bother her.

"Fine. But first, please use your fire to sear the wounds on my forearm closed. I will not waste a healers power with such a minor wound, but neither would I would not want my blood soiling the food."

Her voice was neither one of contempt, nor one of anger-but rather, one of respect. It wasn't that she respected the elemental herself, but that she respected that she was taking the initiative. There was hidden fear inside of the warrior, of course. What if the elemental didn't limit her fire to the wounds?
