So many things happening. It was too much to keep track of. She was losing her mind. He was already defeated for now. She wouldn't let up. She wouldn't. It was endless.

A sickening crack... yes. She'd hit one of them. An enemy? Yes, it had to be; there were nothing but enemies here. One of them was down. But what were all of these monsters? More enemies? Buzzing. A cacophony of buzzing. A shout, a laugh...? It all registered upon nearly deaf ears. But through that maddening din, something cut clear through to her thoughts. It was almost too clear to be ignored.

Luke...

She acted like she didn't hear it. That voice didn't exist. But something else happened. A swarm of something. Something painful.

Luke....

Something else. Her staff... something had hit it away. She barely even registered that her impromptu weapon was yanked right away from her until it was already gone. Who was this? What were all of these... these things?! She had to escape, she just had to get out of there, then she could finish this. She had to finish this. She had to escape! Yes, attack that voice. The one in her head! His voice!

Miss Vidina!

Her body froze in mid stride. She screamed something. She wasn't sure what. The bugs overwhelmed her. Something pierced her skin. Needles? Pins? Something sharp. She had obviously been about to leap forward to try and get past the one that had stolen her weapon, but everything stopped her. That voice. The chaos, the pain.... What was all this? Why couldn't she ever escape? That voice... it was her escape. If she could find it and destroy it... maybe this would all clear up. Yes. That was the odd thing out. She could escape. She could survive!

But... not this time. Next time. She could do it. She'd failed. Hopefully... hopefully she would get a next time.

Like a sack of lead, the hatless and weaponless Lucretia collapsed onto the cave floor.

Just because I

He had been watching. Waiting. Dark eyes searching for that specter to throw this unstable group into glorious chaos. As suspected, her sudden appearance had shifted their perspectives towards self-preservation. It was peculiar how she arose. A creature of morbid beauty and fascination she was a lucky find. He had found her earlier, incomprehensible, wandering around as though rabid. Although no evidence, in his mind, was presented to warrant it; she had attacked him. Hell-bent as she was seeking out blood as though it were water. Of course, being the creature he was, he had humored her. She wasn’t lucid. A rabid mongrel she wasn’t worth his time. He had driven her back into the caves through one of the several hidden entrances. Now she had returned in all her haunted glory.

Samael took a step back in order to fully appreciate the scene that fell before him. Seeing the crude weapon the specter produced he chuckled to himself. Well now sweetheart, don’t play rough with my toys. Samael thought to himself with a purr. In reality he couldn’t care less. They held no particular value or worth. If they died then he simply had more corpses to deal with. If they lived..well..that was a different matter. For now he was content to watch and to see if the boy’s claim about a power were true. Seeing the spirit move Iso and the kid out of the way, his eyes widened with interest. He saw something exit the wound though it wasn’t blood. Smoke? Essence? He had no idea. What he did know was that those disturbing things, the parasites, swarmed the specter to limit her movement. While that was interesting it did not obstruct his view of the two cats (which he later found out were Sogno and Incubo) transforming. Dark eyes flickered in annoyance at that. Cats.. Despicable creatures.

Once again his attention was seized by atrocious yelling. He grimaced, placing a hand over his ear, and narrowing his eyes into hate-filled slits. Just because they might be dying didn’t mean—He stared at the boy. Was he communicating with the disproportionate felines? Samael glanced at him intrigued. Was that his power? Could he read thoughts? Perhaps. Or maybe he was just good at understanding animal body language..

Another creature! Samael hadn’t even seen the small Fen, he would’ve underestimated the creature. He watched almost scoffing at the creature as it made its way to the specter. When the spined quills touched flesh and caused her to become paralyzed, he blinked in surprise. . How peculiar. What was Iso doing with such a creature? Was it always so dangerous? Was there a cure? He would have to find out. However, now was not the time for it as the brief entertainment drew to a close as the creature was defeated.

. ”Brilliant.” Samael said. His voice no longer held that strange icy tone although it wasn’t exactly inviting. ”Simply brilliant. Normally I would be disposing of corpses but you..” The valraven turned his attention to Leon and chuckled. ”You let them live. How interesting.” Dark eyes glanced over at the group once more. “”You may enter. Don’t get eager. You may have passed two of our tests but that, alone, does not grant you access. You will be staying with me for now.” He said as he turned away and started to walk away. He didn’t bother to check to see if they were following. If they were smart they would be. If not then they would find themselves trapped behind that sealed entrance once more. Should they re-emerge without him they would find this place more…hostile…than they ever would’ve imagined.

He led them to a rather large cabin. It was modestly furnished. Woven rugs adorned the wooden floor while odd carvings littered the shelves as works-in progress. It boasted of three rooms though nothing particularly spacious. Each room consisted of one bed and dresser save for Samael’s which consisted of two. He turned around to see if anyone had, indeed followed him. ”Welcome..”

"Do not fear me. I am a simple spirit."

When the woman finally subsided her rage state, the parasites all scattered and the majority of them hid in the shadows with three left to approach Nahumar and give off cute squeaks as if to say they worried about Nahumar. Incubo and Sogno on the other hand looked to Leon. Of course because he can only hear them, Incubo hung his head low to Leon.
"Forgive me human...Had you not said anything, my anger would of took hold and slain your friend. I am thankful you can understand me when Nahumar cannot."
"Now is not the time to feel like the bad guy, Incubo."

The two cats, surprisingly bowed to Leon in respect! Was he just good with animals? Or was his ability truly a gift? Either way their voices seemed to be more potent in his head than most thoughts. As if they only communicate with such methods.

Nahumar of course had to follow Samael into the village...and with the lack of activity outside, it worried him. Usually the Halflings were outside and either relaxing or working...but it seems like they were hidden from sight. Maybe now was not the best time to tell them that Nahumar was here...
As they approached the home, Nahumar had Sogno and Incubo stay outside to watch. Much to the dismay of protecting him. Instead, a rabbit parasite, about twice the size of normal ones would follow Nahumar in and be his escort. Nahumar then asked Samael "Do you have a place to wash off? I suffered some damage from that blow and would like a moment to recollect my thoughts." he was half lying. Nahumar wanted privacy while he mended his shell, or else the true form he held inside would escape and force those who see his visage to die of fright. Unable to comprehend the mass of Fear at all. He hoped that the time privately would get him some time alone...

Only when he was given permission would he leave the group with the parasite behind him and to where Samael pointed to the bath. With his time alone, Nahumar laid against the door and took the jar containing the Fear he took from Leon earlier. "He should be returning to normal anytime now." with a pop of the lid, Nahumar took the contents of the fear he extracted and absorb it into his shell to reform the crack whole. Seeing the work done, he smiled and proceed to change out of his current attire. Swapping his elaborate robes for a more casual look that the humans of this world were more associated with. With his moment of calm he wrapped his staff up to show he had no business to fight just yet and he would emerge from the room not five minutes after. The parasite squeaking in delight to him.

                                                  • It seemed like she wasn’t necessary to keep the boy in check, after all. Her brow furrowed as she tentatively reached out emotionally, and she was surprised to feel… almost nothing. Nothing compared to the overwhelming emotions from before, at any rate. She stopped running as the adrenaline began to run out, but still watched their temporary prisoner warily. At the very least she would keep a metaphysical feeler out, in an attempt to catch any sudden spikes of emotions from the child. If she had done it in the first place, she may have noticed him waking up and avoided the whole literal mess.

Trying to shake off more of the mud, the Sidhe jumped towards one of the closest trees as she shifted in midair once again. As she landed, she shook off whatever mud she could manage before turning back around to face the rest of the group. Now that they had managed to apparently get the bird under control, she didn’t see the point in her standing down there in the mud. Looking back to the rest of the group, seeing Aida so disheveled made the twang of guilt hit again. It was Minnaloushe’s fault that the woman was here in the first place, after all.

Sighing, she shook off more mud before speaking up, “I really think findin’ a place to camp out would be a big help for us all, at this point. If we can find any good vines we can use them to keep the child in check, unless you have faith innyer…” her nose scrunched up as her head cocked to the side, still unsure on what the deal with the scientist and the creature was, “child? To catch him again should something happen.”

Everything going on was quite a bit to handle, but she knew that if they didn’t find somewhere to rest soon things would be bad. Aida was obviously unwell, they had to figure out what to do with their prisoner, the strange woman was recovering from a really bad injury, and both Presea and Aida had gotten hit with the child’s weapon. While they seemed fine now, Minni really wanted to be safe and check them over for any lasting injuries from it. They had no way of knowing what was involved with what knocked them out, and if it was completely out of their systems yet.

David, stunned and reeling, could only stare at what he was sure would be his untimely demise. He'd been caught, and would soon be put to the tortures of this sadistic woman. This was completely wrong. Completely insane. And yet, somehow, he still couldn't find the strength to get out from under Ezio's weight. And then to add to the humiliation of it all, the shocked boy received a face full of slobber. Play? This wasn't playing! This was... this was...!

And then she arrived. That mad scientist. The woman who had scared him off. The woman who had threatened to experiment on him and make his life nothing but horror. He winced back in abject fear as she approached, but then, when she grabbed Ezio into her arms, he was paralyzed. He may have been able to muster up the courage to run again, to take to the skies where they would never catch him, but.... What was all of this? This terror of a woman was acting like nothing had even happened. Like she'd never even wanted to dissect anybody.

Listening with the attention only a captive audience could produce, he lay perfectly still. Ezio was no longer holding him down. He could fly. He could leave... but his arms hurt. He hadn't noticed it at first, but Ezio was surprisingly strong, even to the point and leaving a few bruises on his arms where he'd been pinned down. And then, as soon as those bruises appeared, they vanished away. He could still fly off. He could do it. But would Ezio chase after him again? And would the results be even worse? Would he still live if that terrifying dragon boy took a bite out of him? He didn't want to know. He could only shake his head at the supposedly mad scientist in answer to her only question.

And then that awful cat.... There he was, surrounded by enemies. There he was, lying helpless on the ground. What chance did he have of flying away with all of their attentions focused on him? Desperately, he looked around, trying to find any sympathetic faces, or even ones he could try to talk his way out of. That elf, maybe? Sure, he'd stuck her with a poisoned dart, but....

That's when he saw the most terrifying face out of all of them.

Aida wasn't having any of this s**t, to put it plainly. Her bloodshot eyes and ragged countenance spoke volumes about what she was thinking as she stomped up to the group. The only thing missing was a river of foam dripping from her snarling lips. She wagered that this little boy hadn't seen any kind of demon before, but this was probably about as close as he would get: a hungover, alcohol deprived gate guardian.

"You... little... s**t!" she spat out, her voice sounding more than just a little unhinged. "You, Nerd, I don't even care. I don't even... I don't even know what I don't even right now!" A few more nonsensical shouts came from Aida's mouth, probably a bit too slurred to decipher.

But before she could let loose a massive can of a**-whooping on the little bird, Fluffy spoke up and interrupted her. "Oh yeeaaah?" she grumbled, turning to the cat and wrinkling up her nose. "And... uh.... Uh... fine! Fine! Tie him up! Just keep me away from him! I can't be held reshponshible for what I do to him if I'm around him! Pointy! Pointy, where're you? Yeah, you! You don't have anything to cure hangover, huh? Huh?"

Too many people...too many voices and Lukes to top it off was draining his mental capacity. If only they would shut up...more voices...real? He blinked before realizing Nahumar had gotten back up. He was glad he was still okay at least. Incubo and Songo obeyed him? More like they choose to listen to his plea, of which Leon was very grateful. He would have to thank them properly for holding back...when there wasn't so much noise distracting him. His hands fumbled searching his pockets for his headphones. "Ah...just...asked..." he mumbled lightly.

Ah! There they were! Quickly he put his earphones over his head attached the cord to his music player and blared his music drowning out the voices to a more manageable size. Leon gave a sigh of relief. He blinked a bit noticing Samael talking to him. He couldn't quite make out what he was saying though and exhaustion was hitting him so he didn't even want to try and read his thoughts. He seemed to be letting them through though and that was good enough for him.

It was odd, two voices cut in despite the noise. Clear as day once again he heard the voices of Sogno and Incubo, yet unlike most their voices were much more gentle. He seemed to zone out a moment. Ah...thank you...for listening to my request. Sorry...it's weird, talking to animals that is. Normally they don't talk back to me, but I guess you are special being with a spirit and all. Your voices....their actually pretty soothing right now. My head feels like it will explode. Luke was hard enough to handle and now there are even more people on top of that...that's what I get for breaking my mental wall down though I suppose... he mentally sighed.

Silently Leon followed along with the group, though he stuck close with Conor and Luke. He wanted to offer to carry her himself, but he couldn't, not with his leg still messed up from the fall earlier. But...at least Conor seemed reliable. His trust of the older male had gone up considerably since they first met.

Although the mud had done it's part keeping the winged child grounded, there was still the chance he could sake off just enough to allow flight once more. Inwardly she was grateful to Ezio for catching up to their attacker so quickly, the lack of knowledge he had of his own strength concerned her. Luckily, he brought no harm to the boy, and Aida was at least still capable of having minor spats with Minnaloushe. It wasn't long before the rest of them caught up with the scientist, Ezio himself acting affectionately towards the boy as if they were life long friends. For a moment she was concerned the scientist might do something drastic, what with the weird way she talked prior there was no telling what kind of thoughts were going on in her head. But it was only a moment after she was embracing Ezio like a loving mother, she even expressed some concern for the terrified boy.

With everyone accounted for and their culprit down with little success of escape, Presea eased up a little. While she wasn't too happy about being put to sleep forcibly, she was willing to hear this boy out, after all he MUST have a reason for attacking them out of the blue like that. Seeing the boy brought a small, sympathetic look to her face, and it was the least she could do to bring what little comfort she could to him. Presea was just one of those people who felt sorry for others easily, especially children. Her eyes then shifted to Minnie, who was still making tiresome efforts to rid her form of the foul smelling wet earth. the elf nodded in agreement, looking around for any possible traces of vines to bind the boy with. Sadly she hadn't an inkling where they could possibly stay that was dry in this swamp, and as far as she knew caves weren't exactly common in places like this. If they were going to find someplace dry, they'd have to keep moving. "There doesn't seem to be any shelter nearby as far as I can tell," she responded, "Perhaps we should follow the direction of the sun...?" she shrugged. Then again in Aida's grumpy state having to look at the sun would more than likely cause unending complaint from the guardian...speaking of which, looked a hair away from grinding the boy into the ground. A passing thought had Presea set on using all the strength she had to keep Aida away from him, which thankfully didn't happen. With a temper like that, there was no telling what Aida may have done if left unmonitored.

The dosage from the dart was still very much in the early stages of wearing off, they would just have to put up with her angry ranting until she was back to being her normal-not-twice-as-pissed-off self. Still she couldn't help but raise a brow at what she just said. "Erm...no...at least, I don't THINK any of the medicine I'm carrying can cure hangovers...then again, I've never heard of a cure for it, don't think it exists either." She scratched the side of her head, "It's not a hangover either...you just had a bigger dose of that coating from those darts than I did. I'm sure it'll wear off with some rest." Not that Aida was going to respond to her positively, what with how moody she was now.
Her mind then returned to the boy and how they would go about keeping him under wraps. Some of the trees looked dead, in fact she couldn't see anything that could be used...then it hit her like a brick, so hard she almost face-palmed. How could she be so forgetful! "...I think I can fix the vine problem..." she said. Without explaining it, Presea turned from the group and stepped towards the nearest tree. Placing her hand on the old bark, the elf closed her eyes a moment, concentrating, and within a number of seconds, about to or three vines began to sprout forth from the wet earth and wrap around the tree. It didn't take long for her to finish, opening her eyes to see the once bare tree temporarily decorated with green vines. Though these kinds of plants were known for being strong, Presea managed to remove them from place with ease using her bare hands. Turning to the group, who were probably a little dumbfounded by her little trick, Presea began her brief explanation. "I forgot to mention...I sort of have an affinity with the earth, so I'm able to make plants grow." She looked at the vines in her hand for a second before carefully moving towards the boy, not wanting to cause any unnecessary alarm as she kneeled down and spoke. "We're not going to hurt you, I promise...all I ask is that you cooperate with us, please." Her voice was soft but at the same time a little direct. While a small part of her did feel bad for having to tie him up like this, the fact he approached them with hostility was more than reason enough to bind him. Seeing Minnie didn't like the mud and Aida was in no condition to play helper, the scientist would have to do. "Could you give me a hand?"

Successful in paralyzing his prey, Nikola turned back to the group. His quills were still on end, eyes wild as he scowled around at all the strange parasites that still surrounded them but slowly began to calm as the situation started to diffuse. With a loud huff he sat next to Luke’s limp body, the quills along his face and spine flattening against himself. His orange eyes glanced to his person with a tilt of his head, as though asking if they were finished here yet.

Conor rolled his shoulder, sore from deflecting the attack from the hammer. The sound of gears grinding returned as he turned his false leg, the metal that anchored him from being pushed by the creature or thrown back by the blow from the hammer hitting against his going back into place. It was a handy feature, although it ran the potential for causing trouble. One too-strong blow and it could cause the metal poles to snap, thus being unable to go back to the main body of the metal leg. If his gait was bad now, it would only be worse with pieces missing from his prothstetic.

Putting his wrench back in it’s place on his belt, he walked over to where Luke lie. Scratching behind the fen’s ears, Nik pushing his head into the attention as a creature happy to have done well. Even if Nikola was usually annoyed with his person for not acting cautiously, it didn’t change the fact that as long as they were okay for now he appreciated being praised.

The engineer placed the hammer that he had pulled away from the woman on the ground as he knelt, checking for a pulse before doing anything else. “Weel, she's still alife. We'll hae tae try an' figure it whit tae dae wi' 'er ance we're somewhaur safer than haur,” his thick accent confirmed the girls survival, although he was still baffled about her behavior in general. He couldn’t have Nikola cure the paralyzation now, not yet. Out in the middle of a cave when they still didn’t know if she would try to attack them again didn’t seem like the wisest of options.

Shifting her unconscious weight over his shoulders so that he was carrying her fireman style, he turned to the rest of the group. With a nod towards Nikola, the fen went to Leon’s side as they all followed after the strange man. The whole thing didn’t seem like a great idea. Honestly, even that was an understatement. However, he did make a promise to the child, and a deal was a deal. As soon as they figured out that there was no real ‘village’ in the mines, he could take Leon to see an actual doctor for his leg. Still, everything they’d seen thus far left an awful pit in his stomach. None of it made sense, and his brows were in a permanent state of being furrowed as his brain tried to catch up with it all. Magic, spirits, strange puzzles hidden in the middle of the mines that he knew weren’t here before… it was a bit much, even for him.

When they came across the house, it just made him scowl even more. He didn’t mean to, and he honestly hadn’t even noticed he was. His brain was wired for the scientific, though, and this was far from that. What they had already seen was more than enough to confound him, and now the strange man led them to a cabin through the mines, and also assured them that the ‘village’ really did exist.

As they entered the cabin, he cautiously looked around before laying the unconscious woman down on the couch. He didn’t really like being in this situation one bit, but short of knocking Leon out too and dragging them both away he didn’t see how he could end this peacefully. For the time being, he dragged a chair close by the couch and reclined into it, crossing his arms across his chest as he peered around the room. Nikola went to his side but did not sit, orange eyes flicking around the room from person to person, quills quivering along his spine. Neither of them were exactly sure what they were doing here, or where to go from here. All they could do is hope for a moment of clarity to help them figure out where to go from here.

This, however, was a pitiful excuse. The dirt offered no interruptions in its dullness. There was nothing for miles. No trees, no flowers...simply land that stretch endlessly for miles. It was monotonous. It was the path he needed to travel.

With nothing more than the bag of supplies on his back and his weapons at easy access, he headed into the town. The distance between the capital and the town wasn't close by any means. The trek of twenty miles would be daunting to anyone save Dejan. It would take plenty of time. It took him around eight hours to complete the walk. Having left during the early evening he walked through the night and into the morning. Always vigilant. Always alert. The stars kept him company offering some light while the moon gave more assistance. Still, ever cautious, he kept a hand on his gun. He refused to rest out in the open just yet. Only when he found out what he needed to know would he allow sleep to take his body. Not now though for now he had but to finish the journey.

Dejan pulled the water canteen from his back, opening it and letting the cold liquid slide down his throat. Hydration. Rest. He was only a few miles away now. By the time he had finally reached the building it was around four in the evening. Generally children had gone home by then and it was only the staff left to finish gathering files or whatever exactly these workers did. The teachers at the capital and the teachers of the town didn't exactly have the same job.

As he entered into the building he quickly took in the modest appearance of it. It wasn't exactly something that would make one breathless. The outside, as well as the inside, was moderate. This was taken in quickly as he headed to the desk to see a woman there. Her clothes were dull, bland and spoke of trying to dress to code too strictly. She was a civilian. She didn't need to know the whole of why he was there. Simply that he was and to take him to the principle. Each time she refused he became a bit more frustrated. Did she not realize who he was? His outfit spoke of being a member of the capital militia. Surely she recognized the insignia so why then was she so stubborn in her refusal? Dejan's body tensed as he gripped the front desk with his hands. Knuckles whitened as he leaned forward. "Tell. Him. He commanded coldly before the secretary left to inform the principle. Finally. He was getting somewhere.

Dejan waited for only a moment before he was let into the room. The woman exchanged glances between the cadet and the principle before she returned to her desk. His attention left her as he entered the room. He stood, his stance stiff and demanding, as is the practice of all military personel. Brown eyes focused on the pipe and the lack of smoke before making their way to those of the principle. "Cadet Quinn." He curtly feeling no need to further introduce himself. He proceeded right along to what business he had in the area. Dejan didn't believe in idle chatter, not when it involved finding the kid." We received news of the return of your previous employee, a teacher by the name of Lucretia, had returned." His voice was careful and steady. He didn't bother to show him the picture that he had of her. It wouldn't be necessary. "We have reason to suspect she might have taken the Lichtenburg kid. If you know her whereabouts or where she headed, tell me now." He wasn't about to let her get away from him. The others might have been easy to avoid but Dejan wouldn't be deterred so easily. There was a lot invested in this mission. There was more here than a simple retrieval. If he brought back Lucretia he would be promoted and finally escape the memories that haunted the cadet quarters.

▓Dr. Peter Ilyich▓

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The honorable Dr. Peter Ilyich, for all of his vices, was generally a patient man. One had to be when running a school like this, especially when everybody was so panicked about these crazy Gifted — or whatever the term those kids used — running around. He'd only seen a small fraction of these supposed incidents, but it was enough to put him on the cautious side. And he couldn't help but be cautious of this surprisingly serious stranger barging into his office and immediately asking for information.

Grumbling something under his breath with such a deep rumble that his jowls shook, the headmaster slowly stood up from his chair and set his dummy pipe down on the desk. It didn't take him long to realize what was going on. This little kid was from the capital, that monstrosity of a city where everything was taken so seriously it was nearly impossible to get anything done. And if there was one thing that this portly professor hated, it was when something didn't get done. He tried not to show his worry, keeping a jolly attitude about him and smiling a bit too widely. It was smiles like that which got him the position in the first place.

"Ah, yes. Dr. Peter Ilyich. You speak of Miss Lucretia Vidina?" he began, professionally and with as much gravity as his oversized figure attracted. "It's barely been a week, but the school is recovering nicely. Thank you for asking. She always was the odd one, you know? Mind always wandering. She had all these weird new ideas about teaching that the kids liked, but... well, let's not speak ill of her. She may not be dead, but with the way things are, it might be better to think as much. And yes, Leon Soloman Lichtenburg. His family has been raising quite a row, you know. Quite a row. Harrumph."

The dauntingly large figure paused before settling himself back into his chair to the sound of worrying creaks, like the wood would give out under him at any minute. "So the capitol sent you, hm? Look here, son. You would be wise to do what you need to do, and bother as few people as possible. I'll tell you what you need to know, and you won't disturb my staff. Hm? Now, here is the story, young man. Miss Vidina came in and turned herself in after her house and shop quite literally combusted. Or froze. Or was struck by lightning. Nobody has a consistent story. But we decided to exile her instead of any other means, seeing as she has done this school a good service before all of this. Now, young man, she was spotted in the outskirts of town just a day ago. There were reports of others like her as well, and...."

Upon the topic of other Mysticals, the professor clammed up, dodging it carefully. "Well, we needn't concern ourselves with the other one anymore. Hm. As she left, she was seen absconding with Leon Soloman Lichtenburg, one of our students, heading in the direction of one of our neighboring towns. We... have not heard anything of them for some time. But it is a few days walk, and they likely stopped somewhere along the way to rest. Now, are you satisfied, young man?"

"Big Brother..."

✥-━┈┈━-✥
Sorina started her trip off to find Nahumar. Waving goodbye to her siblings she begins her journey alone. Passing the village they lived nearby and entering the capital. When asking for her brother's whereabouts she was met with a shrug and a simple 'we do not know'. If the Elders did not know where he was, maybe she could follow his trail! The emotion spirits are tied to one another and their powers radiate to each one despite their preference...but Sorina has not felt his presence for a long time.

She wandered through the wastes, asking directions and looking for new locations. In the meanwhile, she saw wondrous sights, new lands and plenty of flowers she only read about in her brother's books. It didn't seem all that dangerous but then the trail led to the swamps. Stories about it tell of very dangerous plants and animals that roam the wilds at night. She would have to trek fast as to not worry much. The swamp was hard to move through and unlike clear water, it could not be manipulated by her abilities...The more she moved, the longer the trip felt until she eventually started to feel hungry.
"Just a little more..." she said to herself before noticing her leg was caught on a twig...a vine? No...something else. She tried to pull it out but when her attention turned ahead, she was met with a snake that eyed her curiously.

Now she was not scared of animals. Far from it...but the way it looked at her made her screech in terror from the lack of visibility. "Anyone! Someone help! Big Brother!" She shouldn't of left alone. She was no fighter. she couldn't kill it. Her fear was clear as day, wishing she could of just ran. It didn't bode well for her stomach either. Growling in pain as the last sense of substance she had was a village back with the blue flowers.

Ezio couldn't help but lick his lips when Etzy mentioned feeding him, which probably only added to the fear of him actually taking a bite out of the boy. "Ah..hungy! Hungy!" Ezio cried pointing to his mouth dramatically and tugging on Etzy's labcoat.

Etzy sighed and sifted the boy again. "I know little one, I'll find you something to eat on the way ok? You need to be good now though," she replied as the dragon boy nodded his understanding.

When Aida awoke and asked about a hangover cure she tilted her head. The elf said something about there not being a cure for that. The human scientist shook her head at the two. "What nonsense?! Of course there is a cure! There is a cure for everything as long as you look hard and long enough. I found that cure long ago...though I don't have what I need to make the concoction. I'm afraid the ingredients don't grow here in the swamp and the process is rather difficult to get right," she added.

It was after this exchange that Etzy's attention was once again drawn to the elf who seemed to grow vines out of a bare tree. Her purple eyes seemed to sparkle with curiosity. "How'd you do that!? That is amazing, did you speed up the growth factor? If I could recreate this process...everyone would be able to have food and nobody would have to go hungry!!" At this point Etzy seemed to ramble to herself about various process and scientific terms that nobody in the current party could probably follow. Her ramblings were interrupted however by Presea asking for assistance. "Hmm? Oh! Yes! Of course! Would it be possible for me to take a small portion of these vines? I would certainly love to study this further at another time..." Etzy stated probably to the groups relief seeing as she didn't seem to focus on making the elf her target for studying. The lady scientist then put Ezio down for a moment to help Presea with binding the boy so he couldn't get away again.

Just because I
tab like Humans

He observed the way they entered the cabin, whether it was with hesitant steps or with overbearing confidence, taking in every bit of information he could. The way they walked, talked and even breathed told him subtle details about each person. Some of them glanced about taking in what little decor there was while others immediately sought to be else where. For example, the one named Nahumar seemed to hold some sort of air of authority. This wasn't his establishment and yet, here he was, sauntering in as if he owned it. The way he carried himself was another annoyance. Although whether or not that was contributed to the fact that he was followed by a constant parasite Samael couldn't tell. Before entering the cabin Nahumar had set Incubo and Sogno, those two cats, as guards. It wasn't necessary. Very few people ever visited his home and, of those that did, none presented any sort of danger. If anything, it was the other way around. Yet here, on either side of his front door, were two cats..

Interrupted from his thoughts, Samael's dark eyes glanced over at the spirit. They wandered over the male's form as he spoke. They took in everything missing very little. He was still being followed by a parasite. This time it was a rather large rabbit. The valravn nodded to the question and pointed over the the right. He never mentioned which door it was. Nahumar was a spirit. Surely he could figure it out. After a few moments he watched him return. An amused smirk played on Samael's lips as Nahumar rejoined the group. Did this spirit think that a change of clothes would find him more agreeable?

While Nahumar seemed to have no trouble pressing further into his home, the other guests seemed to be quite hesitant. Iso seemed to be the most reluctant to even pass through his doors. He appeared to be the most suspicious of the residence. Instead, the engineer had taken residence in one of the chairs he pulled up beside the couch. With arms crossed only then did it seem as though Iso would even take a look around him. Samael couldn't help but find that whole "lone guard" act amusing. Idly he wondered what connection he could possibly have with the strange woman that lay on the sofa. Did he know her? How could he know her? When she became conscious would she be sane? He didn't know. It was a curious thing but she was not the only one he guarded. The young teen was also there as was the strange creature.

Samael didn't know what the fen was. He simply knew that he should avoid those damn quills. Having seen them in action he knew they held some sort of poison. Was there an antidote? Did it wear off or was the damage permanent? As he thought about it he glanced over at the creature. It seemed to have also taken up the job as "guardian". It was watching over Iso as well as the others. It couldn't keep an eye on everyone though. He would see to that soon enough.

"If you think I'm going to congratulate you on making it this far, you're mistaken." Samael's sharp words sounded almost hostile though he never raised his voice. It was quiet and even."You may have made it this far but everyone fails. Each test is harder than the last. If you're not willing to sacrifice a bit of yourself then say so now." He looked at each person for a moment allowing the words to sink in. "The only person who really needs to be here is him." Samael said gesturing to Leon. He continued. "Should you choose to abandon your non-existent cause I will return you to the gate. If you persist then I must tell you one thing-" he chuckled. It was a strange disembodied sound. It was empty. It was hollow. It was void of any emotion that usually create such sounds. "This is the last chance for you to change your mind..while it's still intact." Samael paused for a moment. "Should you decide to stay, my guest room has bed although you might require food before sleeping...The choice is yours but make it soon. I have better things to do than to wait for you to make up your mind."

Well this was boring. No death, no destruction, nothing to do. Katarina hadn’t been offered a job in ages. Her money wasn’t dwindling— she was actually rather frugal— but she wasn’t having fun. She was getting the itch again. The itch that something had to happen before she went into a frenzy and just started killing for giggles. That hadn’t happened in many years now but it was always a possibility in the back of her mind. Damon would have approved. But he wasn’t around anymore. He wasn’t even supposed to be in her head anymore. That was easier said than done, though. Emotional ties were harder to break than she wished they were.

Katarina had been staying in the halfling village for a while now but it was just so peaceful. Everyone getting along and being kind to one another. It was slightly nauseating. There was always rest of the human world to delve into but without a job why would she? It wasn’t like she enjoyed being around humans without a purpose. She hadn’t felt truly at ease around them since she had left her family all those years ago. Well, her adopted family that is. Who even knew where or who her real family was? She hadn’t even tried to find them anyway. They were worthless— they had left her to be raised by other people. Those were her parents. Not two people who shared biology with her and created her into existence.

But what to do. There had to be something worthy of her time at that point. There was no real chaos to throw herself into unless she decided to go out of the village and stir some up of her own. Wait…stir some up. A grin spread across Katarina’s face as the idea occurred to her— Samael. He was always good for some laughs. At his expense, of course. It was incredibly frustrating for her when they first met— what with his negation and all— but she’d grown somewhat attached to the valravn. In the way that cats become attached to mice. Mice who were their size and had teeth just as sharp as their own. Katarina and Samael had their own special kind of relationship and that had been built over a period of time. In the beginning all she wanted to do was force him into submission but that was fairly impossible given his power. Illusions wouldn’t work on him and that was a massive letdown. But words still existed and Katarina was good at slinging them. Both of them were. And Samael always proved to be at least somewhat entertaining. Good enough for now, at least.

The walk to his shack, as she called it, was always irritating. She understood the gatekeeper business but did he really have to live out in the middle of nowhere? It was rather ridiculous really. Sure, he was kind of a black sheep but he didn’t have to live it. Or maybe he did— Katarina never really paid attention to social graces and mores within the village. She couldn’t have told anyone whether or not Samael was hated or not. But she did manage to get to his little abode.

Once she arrived she noted movement in the windows. More movement than just Samael would provide. “Oooh, he has company,” she tutted to herself before looking in one of his windows. Yes, he did indeed have company— more people than she’d ever seen around him in the entire time she’d known him. Samael wasn’t someone who had many friends, if any. Katarina wasn’t sure if she was classified as a friend or not but it didn’t matter to her. She still dropped in on him whenever she felt so inclined. And this was the kind of distraction she had been looking for— she could pester him for hours about how and why there were three— no four, there was one laid on the couch— people in his house! The possibilities of torment were nearly endless.

A smirk spread across her face as she waltzed up to his door from the window. “Samael~” she purred against the door as her fingers rapped on it. Her voice was loud enough that the people inside would hear. His cabin’s walls may have been made of wood but Katarina had a way of projecting. It was important when it came to illusions— making yourself sound everywhere and nowhere all at once. The tone she used was both seductive and teasing at the same time. With just a hint of malice that only he would pick up on.

Nahumar of Fear
User Image
"Do not fear me. I am a simple spirit."

✥-━┈┈━-✥
Just feeling the air about made Nahumar worried. Had something happened to the Halflings? Were they hiding or had they all died? No...He knew they would survive with their illusions. He didn't bother sitting as he stood there in the room off to the side. The parasite beside him looked to be like some sort of secretary rather than a guard. Digging into his bag and pulling out a flask of water to offer around to the group.

Nahumar's face turned straight as a board as he listened to his words. "While yes Leon is the one who needs to be here, the Halflings would never be this harsh towards guests. I still wish to seek an audience with the elder here." Nahumar was not going to let it go with ease. He hoped that the man would know of who he was if he a least showed some identification. From his bag, he pulled a hardened stone insignia of what looks like a Dragon and a Serpent twisting around one another and adorned with gems. A number underneath reads out 13.

"Surely you have done homework to know what this is?" He turned to the others... "I hope you all understand." and with a firm voice he stated once again...
"I am Nahumar, the Spirit of Fear. The Thirteenth member of the Council of Elders for Mystical beings. I came to this land to find and...slay my crazed sister, Anera of Anger. The Halfling Elders for generation are known to keep tabs with the humans, and Anera could be hiding somewhere among them...If she is allowed to do as she please, she might kill all humans...then Halfings and if it gets that far, whatever even slightly moves." The face he showed, it was of pain but also importance. "I have done the trials many times over, with many new incarnation of the Gatekeepers. I am not one to be afraid of what you throw at me." as he said that, the small Parasite held up a flag in his two paws, waving it around like some fan at a sport game.

He was of coursed interrupted with a newcomer. A smile on his face was easy to change to. "Why hello there, miss." His voice much kinder and gentle. If anything, this was how Nahumar was a lot of the time. The Parasite Rabbit looked at Katarina, giving light peeps of a welcome. The purple fur of the rabbit looking creature could come off as cute to the untrained eye...but looking harder, she could see the true form without the others knowing. A beetle like bug. Harmless when alone but deadly in a swarm...best to not anger it.

Sadly if she tried to find out what Nahumar looked like, it would take her a long while to even crack his shell.
