Oh I love the Ace Attorney series! I played a couple of them after Ghost trick. I really like mystery stuff too, though haven't played Professor Layton yet. I have played Puzzle Agent and some people have said it has a similar style, but that one is kinda bizarre. I still like it though!

Also do you read? Or do you listen to audio books or anything like that?

Questionable Pilot

Sexy Frozen

Me too, I really like mysteries even though I'm terrible at deductions. xd I haven't heard of Puzzle Agent before, its art style looks cool, though! 3nodding And I mostly read manga, though the most recent novels I've read are Sarah Dessen's books and Rainbow Rowell's. I need to get out more in terms of reading material. xd I don't listen to audio books very often, mostly because they can be pretty pricey.

I'm trying to write/make a sorta detective visual novel and it's really hard! What kinda Manga do you like? I haven't read many recently, but I have manga like Magical Miracle, Jojos Bizzarre adventure, Pita Ten and Candidate for Goddess. :3

I don't listen to too many audio books for the same reason, but I do listen to old radio programs of detective stuff with William Gargan in it. biggrin

I can imagine it'd be hard! Just writing a story in general is a challenge. 3nodding I mostly read rom-com manga like Kamisama Kiss, Love*Com, My Love Story!! but I also enjoy mysteries, action, comedy, and fantasy like Detective Conan, Rurouni Kenshin, Rin-ne, and Ancient Magus' Bride. I'm not really picky about my genre so long as the story is interesting and engaging, the world building is easy to understand, and the majority of characters are likeable. The only things I don't prefer are horror/thriller like Junji Ito because of how much it gets into my head and makes me paranoid. Especially at night. sweatdrop
You can get ahold of old radio programs? How? eek

Shy Explorer

Hakui-Kitsune

I feel the same way about Junji Ito. It's certainly different, but just a little too far up the weird tree for me! eek

I get the feeling I would like rom-com, but I haven't seen a pairing I like so I guess that prevents me from getting into them. sweatdrop Probably has to do with my weird like of ears and liking only women. redface You prolly guessed that by now though.

Yeah, some of the old radio stuff is hosted on websites, others uploaded to youtube. Some of the old radio programs are great.
Such cute art - I love your chibi style!

Junji is less weird to me and more absolutely terrifying. xd Like, I read all of Uzumaki and the images within that story will haunt my mind for the rest of my life. That hospital story in Uzumaki... *shudder* I'll never forget.
Well, I know there are more Girl Love manga being released nowadays but they're usually slice of life stories with regular human girls. Milk Morinaga's works are pretty sweet and cute but can be a little same-y. I haven't seen much in the way of fantasy Girl Love stories, unfortunately. sweatdrop
Hmm, I should look into this. I've always been curious about old radio programs. 3nodding

HiR0SHi

Thank you very much! whee

I don't remember the names to all of them. I remember reading the flyswatter tree one, head balloons and a couple others, but I don't remember their names. Which is the Uzumaki one? They are terrifying, though I do mostly just find them bizarre. They get into your head and not always in a good way @_@. I do usually kinda like weird stuff or off kilter stories, but in moderation!

A fantasy girl love story would be really nice. I notice that when you get into more fantasy elements like elves and likes for most manga that they're almost always just side characters or supporting characters. sad

There is a good bit of the old radio stuff out there to look over. Like I said before, I really like the old William Gargan stuff! There might be something out there you like. 3nodding By the way, what kinda music do you like? biggrin

Questionable Pilot

Sexy Frozen

Uzumaki is the series with all the spiral stuff. An entire town was cursed with the thing and everything just went downhill for the people within the story. Lots of deaths. Also, lots of terrifying imagery. Like, real life fear: bug crawling into the inner ear. *shudders*
Yeah, they usually are. confused I think it's an 'audience surrogate' kind of thing, depending on the age rating for the manga. Having the seemingly average, powerless human go on a journey in a fantasy realm gives the main character a lot of room to grow in terms of prowess. It's especially prevalent in manga for kids aged 6-12. But who knows, maybe there's something out there.
Maybe there is. 3nodding I usually like acoustic, pop, ballad or classical. I'm mostly into stuff that is either low-key or has a nice bass beat to it. Like, Walk the Moon's "Shut Up and Dance" or "One Foot" are nice 'get up and dance' songs I like. Elizabeth Grace's "Bleachless" is something I recently listened to that I really like. I also listened to a song I haven't heard in nearly 14 years, KOTOKO's "Resublimity," which is electronic/dance I think. I don't know much music vocabulary, so it's hard to say what I like exactly. sweatdrop

Shy Explorer

Hakui-Kitsune

Gosh. I'm glad I didn't read that one then >_<.

Yeah. I can understand why they don't do it. Probably not a very large audience either. confused

I like classical as well, though I think our music tastes differ. Though I did find Resublimity to be pretty appealing to me! biggrin I don't really know much about music vocabulary either, but I do know that I grew up with music like Metallica, Backstreet Boys and and grew into stuff like Conditional and Mother Earth . Though I always liked jazz and especially liked the kind you find in Halo ODST and whatever you would consider Sexy Brutale's Casino Theme . The only other stuff I like it video game music. My current favorite stuff is the kind of stuff like you find on the Invisigun heroes OST Nemoris is my favorite one. heart

Yeah, there's some seriously messed up imagery in there. I will never be able to forget them for the rest of my life, I swear. eek Makes me admire/wonder how some people really love and live off of horror stories as their mainstays.

Yeah, the best bet would to just do a self-publish kind of thing for the potential niche audience. And I don't know how many self-published manga creators are out there in Japan. There's probably more indie comic creators here in America, anyway. sweatdrop

Well, maybe not too different. I grew up with boy and girl bands back in the day. xd Backstreet Boys, N'SYNC, Spice Girls, etc. were my jam back in elementary school. Then, I got into anime and just got suckered into anime soundtracks, opening and ending themes, and the like. Conditional is pretty cool, I like the base beat with the piano a lot. It reminds me of gothic themes but with the added electronic beats overtop. 3nodding I've listened to a couple songs from Within Temptation before and really liked them, so Mother Earth was also really cool fair that met my expectations about the band. I also really like video game music. smile It's hard to pin down a few but the first one off the top of my head is Final Fantasy's quintessential themes that play throughout all their games and basically all of Kingdom Hearts' music. Oh yeah, there's also the [dot]hack soundtracks that are really pretty and evocative. The Halo 3 ODST is really good, I love the subtle saxophone playing in the background for a lot of the tracks. Sexy Brutale's Casino Theme was really nice and Nemoris was definitely interesting, too bad it was only a 30 second teaser. >_< Reminds me of another teaser song I heard a while ago called "In the Flame." Thankfully, there's a full version now.

Shy Explorer

Hakui-Kitsune

I know my brother is into horror stuff like saw and zombie movies, but I don't know if he even knows who Junji Ito is.

It might just be the culture in japan where there aren't many indie things but yeah. I'll just have to hope for it. I do write, but writing isn't the same as Manga or graphic novels. whee

I'm guilty of not reading as much manga or watching as much anime in recent years. I definitely do like anime, but I don't think I gravitate quite as much towards the music/soundtracks of them as I do for game music, but there are some sorta mixes I like. Disgaea 3 Intro for example. Also I remember really liking [dot]hack stuff! Though I forget why I just stopped watching the anime for it and I had a game for it too for playstation 2 I think. I super like that theme.

Yeah sorry it's only a 30 second teaser. If you're ever able to, Invisigun heroes has some beautiful music. Nemoris is my favorite one on it.

Also I LOVE Bastion and the soundtrack for it! I still sorta want to play Pyre, but the gameplay didn't win me over. That song sounds really nice though! I think Supergiant has some great storytelling! heart Bastion's ending with Zulf really held special meaning for me too, but no one I know seems to understand how I felt about it sweatdrop .
