Papa to Kiss in the Dark was pretty horrific.

Um, I haven't come across an anime that's scared me, but Petshop of Horrors was a good OVA. Higurashi had it's moments but ultimately was a disappointment. Another has some good gore, storyline is weak and I hate all the characters; All up it's a meh.

I've come across better horror manga. Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni is great but there aren't many chapters. Doubt is more of a psychological thriller but I loved it. Kibengakuha Yotsuya Senpai no Kaidan was far from brilliant but it had it's moments. Again Petshop of Horrors really shone in my eyes and I would reccomend the s**t out of it.

Another is pretty dark and Gyo is weirdly dark in its own way. I had a dream based on those things. sweatdrop

Death Note. But if we were talking about manga "Uzumaki" wins by a landslide. Freakest manga I have EVER looked at. I couldn't see a spiral without freaking for weeks. You should check it out =D

I think Mangas tend to be scarier than anime for me ;u; Then again, I don't watch horror anime. I have to say, who knew you could eff up spirals so much?

well higurashi wasn't that scary, just creepy and has some gore to it.
elfen lied is just gore. nothing more to it.

Well, Mei is not dead...but the real dead person walks among them. Twist is that not only those in Class 3 didn't know which one of them is dead but the dead person didn't know that he or she is dead too! It's kinda like the Sixth Sense
