Some insight from
some friends...
GET TO KNOW ME
Well, if you came this long, I'll tell you some things about myself...
To put things in perspective, I'll tell you first that I'm (more than) 50 years old. "Oh!", you could say "... such an old man!". I've been called lots of things here on Gaia, and not all of them nice. So, go ahead, I'm used to it. razz
One of the things people usually ask me first when I tell them my age is "Don't you have anything better to do?", "Get a life... Your life should be boring". And to those people I say: I have a life. And more than that, I have a WONDERFUL life. But it looks like most young guys think that when you're past your 30's you should be a boring and useless old man. That's not true, you guys! I enjoy this place, as I enjoy lots of things that I do.
I'm a system analyst, and I also work as a programmer and I'm in charge of keeping working all the servers, workstations and connectivity in my office (Yep, I'm kinda nerdy, lol). I enjoy playing guitar, and I play it in the worship group at my church. There I also lead with my wife the youth group, which means we're always surrounded by teens.
I have been blessed with a wonderful wife (I still have not dragged her into Gaia) and two great kids ("Divinx" and "the crasy"). They are the sunshine in my life. Both my kids started playing in Gaia many months before I did, and sometimes I looked at what they were doing, and I thought "that's such a timewaste...". But one day I gave it a try, and I'm glad I did. I found here many wonderful on-line friends. Not the casual ones that talk to you just once and then dissapear, but good friendship.
I have a really bad memory, so if we met some time ago, and I didn't saw you for some time, I'd probably don't remember who you are... So, don't be surprised or upset if I ask you some details to make me remember you.
If you're reading all this and you're not my fiend, you're welcome to become one! I don't accept random requests, so first talk to me, and we can gather on Rally or Towns to know each other.
Have fun!
Something I found and agree
We don't care if you're friends with other guys. But when you're sitting next to us, and some random guy walks into the room and you jump up and tackle him, without even introducing us, yeah, it pisses us off. It doesn't help if you sit there and talk to him for ten minutes without even acknowledging the fact that we're still there.
We don't care if a guy calls >OR TEXTS< you, but at 2 in the morning we do get a little concerned... Nothing is that important at 2 am that it can't wait till the morning.
Also, when we tell you you're pretty/ beautiful/ gorgeous/ cute/ stunning, we freaking mean it. Don't tell us we're wrong. We'll stop trying to convince you. The sexiest thing about a girl is confidence.
Don't be mad when we hold the door open. Take advantage of the mood we're in.
Let us pay for you! Don't "feel bad". We enjoy doing it. It's expected. Smile and say "thank you".
Kiss us when no one's watching. If you kiss us when you know somebody's looking, we'll be more impressed.
You don't have to get dressed up for us. If we're going out with you in the first place, you don't have to feel the need to wear the shortest skirt you have or put on every kind of makeup you own. We like you for who you are and not what you are. Honestly, I think a girl looks more beautiful when she's just in her pj's. Or in my t-shirt and boxers, not all dolled up.
Don't take everything we say seriously. Sarcasm is a beautiful thing. See the beauty in it.
Don't get angry easily.
Stop using magazines/media as your bible.
Don't talk about how hot Chris Brown, Brad Pitt, or Jesse McCartney is in front of us. It's boring, and we don't care. You have girlfriends for that.
Whatever happened to the word "handsome"/"beautiful"? I'd be utterly stunned by a girl who greeted me with "Hey handsome!" instead of "Hey baby/ stud/ cutie/ sexy" or whatever else you can think of. On the other hand I'm not sayin I woulndn't like it ether wink
Girls, I cannot stress this enough: if you aren't being treated right by a guy, don't wait for him to change!!!!! Ditch his sorry @$$, disgrace to the male population and find someone who will treat you with utter respect. Someone who will honor your morals. Someone who will make you smile when you're at your lowest. Someone who will care for you even when you make mistakes. Someone who will love you, no matter how bad you make them feel. Someone who will stop what they're doing just to look you in the eyes... and say "I love you" ...and actually mean it. Give the nice guys a chance.
