Raine is rather serious-minded, responsible, and stable. She has the gift of tact and diplomacy, and possess a charming, easy-going nature which endears her to others. She has a serious desire to understand the heart and mind of everyone, and could be very effective in a career or in volunteer work where she is handling people and serving in a humanitarian way. The name also gives her a love of home and family, and as a parent she would likely be fair and understanding. She remembers the thoughtful little expressions of affection and appreciation that mean so much to others, and holds the ability to create a warm and loving environment. However, she tends to put things off and avoids facing issues because of a lack of confidence and uncertainty. The love of her life:
The clumsy Galbadian soldier who got hurt one day and ended up in her tender care. Don't let his looks fool you, he's the total opposite of what you might think of a well-sophisticated man. He's not. Laguna is, careless and clumsy but the man's got a big heart and can make you smile even if you want to shove the whole world up his butt. He's also shy and when he gets nervous all these werid symptoms come up, (Ex: that leg cramp).
After nursing him back to health, he stayed in WinHill to help her around with things, mostly Ellone. During a game sequence, you see the past Laguna and Ellone going on a monster patrol. We can see that his relationship with Ellone is very close, since Elle goes around all day calling him "Uncle Laguna" and that she likes a great deal because she never stops telling Raine that "Uncle Laguna and you should get married". Of course Laguna and Raine took it as a joke.
Love didn't come at first for them, but it was actually the kind of love that slowly develops as two people got to know each other more. But sadly, even if they were meant to be together, they weren't. Laguna left her to rescue Ellone which took him a very long time and Raine tragically died while he was away. Still, we can see that Laguna still loves her dearly (ending) and she was and is the love of his life and she felt the same about him.
The aftermath:
Excatly how Raine died wasn't offically answered by Squaresoft but the most popular(the one that made the most sense) was that she died while in labor.
Whether Laguna knew she was pregnant or not wasn't answered either, so some fans supported the he didn't know about it and others the opposite. As for me, I guess I'm in the middle. But as far as I know, everyone believes Raine gave birth to Squall AFTER Laguna left. Made sense since Laguna didn't know Squall was his son.
