Eh, I know a couple... I got the impression that it's usually more mannerisms. Like putting someone on the spot with the whole "you" thing, or pointing at them. Waving with with your palm up, or facing them, that was a big thing (and when I was part of an exchange trip to Japan for two weeks, I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been to try to train twenty fourteen-year-old Americans to not act like barbarians, trying to wave to one another in the crowd!).

Oh! I get it -- like in Japanese, how usually, "you" is inferred, unless the speaker's deliberately being rude, right?

That's a good point, the context can be a lot different... as far as I know, in Spanish the "bad words" are almost... friendly? Well, no, I guess not so much friendly, but they're not really offensive -- unless the situation is like that. Just the words alone, though, aren't usually taken in a bad way (then again, that might be regional -- I'll admit I've really only been exposed to Spanish that people from Spain would probably find offensive in and of itself!).

rofl That makes me wonder... I mean, really, user names are only a problem if they're particularly vulgar, from what I'm told (since swearing itself isn't actually against the ToS)... they try to get away with it, anyway, but I wonder how many foreign-language expletives are used as user names without anyone noticing? xp
