oh man, i never realised but there's a good pun in there - backstory. ANYWAY, yes, he was a lot of fun to make. and yeah, very glad they don't have a base in reality like some horrific things in horror movies. although i suppose horrible mutation and parasites are real, so...oh no. ahh, thank you~ ;w;
yes, in the end it really comes down to just how things play out for which of them ends up the winner.

all three of us, my sister, our friend and i have cried reading each other's posts before. we've also cried writing them. that's when you know you're in deep and there is truly no escape, lol!
i'm so sorry to hear that. i'm pretty bad at knowing what to say and comforting people, but i do hope you and your family are all right.

the main way i end up learning quite a bit about things is because it's relevant to a character i have and i need to do some research. and when it comes to mental illness so many things can overflow into one another, and if you have more than one illness they react in a unique way as well, so you can only ever do your best to do it right! i've found it's good to read things people who have it have written about their experiences when it comes to any illness really, so i can totally recommend that if you find yourself stuck and needing guidance! and not at all, inspiration comes from all kinds of places, you never know when it's gonna hit you! honestly the only time i get annoyed with things is when people play the "crazy killer" and that's the only portrayal of mental illness in the entire work, just some excuse for a murderer based on stereotypes and a lack of creativity, or when it's a random illness added to be "edgy" or "quirky," and your setting definitely doesn't sound anything like that at all.
yeah, if it's a slice of life set in a world with dragons for example, you have to add that "fantasy" tag to the genre as well. "fictional biography" sounds pretty good, actually. the only thing i can think it might be classed as otherwise is "drama" since that's...a really ambiguous term that can be applied to a lot of specific things? there has to be a genre name for it, but i just tried looking and "drama" was the best i could find. ,:T
aww, i bet that's not true! you might be putting more of yourself in her than you realise, it's just easier to see good qualities in, well, anyone who isn't oneself? i know i struggle with that OTL
it's always cool when you come up with a scenario and you just don't know how a character would react, so you have to figure it out. you learn a lot about how you picture them and want them to be in doing so!

yeah, sounds about right. and ever-increasing!

still it's...quite unique, isn't it? xD yeah, i knew the idea starting out for what his mutation would be, needed a good way for the base of his spine to be an easy target for a hellbug (which, you guessed it, is in fact the thing that causes all the mutations), and a reason for a lot of repressed rage. he's kind of done with everything personally, but his new twin urges him to do bad things. and oh boy, he sure is. he can speak as well as having a telepathic link, so when he goes back to hiding inside the torso they can still communicate. he kinda just shrinks into a nice little area to hide. the main character he had a vanishing twin, when one absorbs the other in utero, though whether that's actually linked to his particular mutation is left a mystery because not only would it be hard to know, but it's creepier that way.
especially since he doesn't know if the people who abducted him were even working FOR the cops, so that's even more reason to go after the police force. yes, like i said i'm always a big sucker for that!
oh she's in the same universe. the main roles to fill were either the cops or the underground rebellion, so i just HAD to go for one of each. oh don't worry, he'll be fine as long as he's got his twin who's more than happy to engage in terrible activities required to survive. xD i hope so too! ;w;

i know! some of my dearest characters have come from little spin-offs! and definitely.

i know that feeling of being your creation's biggest fans as well as creators, but that's always good to be so invested!
ooh, anything to do with psychology has me super interested! the human mind is so incredibly complex with what we know already, and there's still so much left we haven't figured out. yeah there's gotta be a name for it, i feel like there is and i just can't place it, but "life stories" does seem to fit. sounds good! i always want to write romance and then when i get to it have no idea how to deal with it x'D
it's fun to see them grow and change, and learn more about what you value in them, as well as discovering more about them in general as it comes to you when posed with what-ifs regarding their future.

Oh no! Oh girlie, I'm so very sorry for your loss. But at least you were all with him. I'm sure he felt your love and comfort surrounding him and that's all any of us can ask for. I'm here for you if you need to vent or want virtual hugs.

Yeah, she was a tough lady. x.x It's really sad/scary that they don't see the danger, which makes it hard when you're trying to explain why they have to go somewhere safer. Which unfortunately didn't end up being safer for my grandmother :/

That's scary. My grandmother would put the stove on to make tea and then forget about it. Then we came home to the kitchen being on fire and she didn't notice a room over. We arranged to have her go somewhere during the way while we were away to hang out with other older folks but she got to the point where she had to be in the hospital and from her worsening condition. :/ Which she didn't like either. She was one of those people that would pull out IV's and ET tubes x.x

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope all is well and that he makes a speedy recovery.

My grandmother also had dementia and many other conditions. We couldn't care for her 24/7 due to work and school and it was too dangerous to leave at her home alone.

More than likely that is what's going on

Yeah, she's a doll. It was a good nervous. I don't really like being in the spotlight/public speaking so I was more nervous of knowing that everyone was going to be watching me all day. Which sounds silly when I type it out but it's true, haha. But my husband helped me feel calm so it all worked out 3nodding

yes, it's such a shame, there's some i reeeeally want to play but it's hard to find a place for them as they're so specific. oh man, i should've warned you beforehand about how...over the top it is! xD well, it was a version set in london and he was originally kidnapped and used as a drug mule until eventually he was too ill to continue with that. then they decided to harvest his organs, as you do, but kept him alive while doing it to ensure freshness, which lead to the perfect place for a hellbug to fall into when some bumbling henchman broke the containers for them while moving them through the room surgery was being performed. one nested at the base of his spine and things quickly took a violent turn with him managing to escape but not recalling how. then when he regained consciousness he was "alone" and bloody in the wilderness, until he realised an entire other version of himself from the waist up was growing out of his back. so he got a super fun mutant twin! he went to join a group of other mutants with hellbugs living underground and starting a revolution to try and take down the corrupt police force who didn't care about anything but murdering and enslaving them! so he was gonna get to be part of a gang of misfits, which i'm always a sucker for, along with my sister and friend's characters. i also had another character in the same setting who was working for the police force simply because she was a huge gore enthusiast and working for the evil police meant getting to indulge her sadistic tendencies. so yeah, it was kinda specific and hard to find a place for them elsewhere. xD but i love monstrous things so i want to find somewhere for him at least.

yes, they quickly became the most fleshed out of my characters.
yep, that's the one! who'd have known it would inspire us so much, haha!

indeed, just gotta keep my options open, never know when something might fall into place.

whoa! that's super impressive! the key is to take all the side characters you love and make a ridiculous spin-off with them! xD what genre/s does the story fall into? i'm curious now.
it's always so fun to have characters go through years of their life and grow and change, seeing how different they are from when they started.

Yeah, it's definitely hard. And whether or not they say it now, the time you put into helping them and being with them is worth it. For both you and them.
They were both at home with us for a long time until they're conditions got to the point that they needed to be in the hospitals.

Hopefully the time away with his friend will help. It's probably a little scary for him with all that's going on so he's acting out since he doesn't know how to deal with those feelings

Haha, so we got married in June of this year. It wasn't anything fancy but I had my family there and some friends so it was a great time.

My niece was the flower girl and she was so excited. Before we walked out together she said "oh my gosh, I'm so nervous! But a good nervous. Okay, spin around so I can do finally checks. Alright, you look beautiful, let's go!"
It was so funny, especially coming from an 8 year old
