I already have gargoyles by the side door. One on either side. blaugh Yeah, hostas are a low growing plant and get big enough to be like a ground cover. They're not vine like but are fast growing and they have the long shoots that come up in the middle and have flowers on them. They only flower once a year though.

The plants in a circle reminds me of a park by my old house. Someone planted maple trees in a circle and they were at the point where they were about to close up when I moved. The squirrels loved hiding in there. LOL

Yeah, looking back at it he's lucky he didn't mess up the transmission. I'll have to try that copper thing. My mom had a huge shrub she's taking out to build a deck, so I'll make sure to tell her too. biggrin

My main problem right now is the full sun vs shade plants. My old house was full sun everywhere. This one has mostly shade in the backyard, which is nice, but leaves me at a loss as to what to plant there. I have most of it done but there are two small ares and the shade plants I find i don't usually like. I just end up gong with the old stand by, the hosta. (I swear I have about 20 different varieties in my backyard eek )

Yeah, it's a lot of work alright, but it needs done and will look a lot better when it's done. A few of the plants will be moving to the back yard, but the snowball and azalea which are too big for anywhere even back there are going to be taken to my family's cottage and planted there. No need killing the plants. They're pretty and will have more room there and help fill in an area on the sloped part of the yard no one wants to mow anymore. hahaha Not sure where the dwarf spruce will be going, most likely somewhere there because I don't particularly like them.

When we first moved here we tore out the boxwood that was under the kitchen window. Those suckers were rooted DEEP in the ground. The hubby hooked them up to the van and still had a hard tome ripping them out and that was after digging over 2 hours to expose most of the roots. The neighbor said they had been there for over 25 years.

Aww, thanks. heart heart emotion_hug

I think we're just going to end up swapping the plats out for smaller ones that we'll like better. Right now there is an azalea that is the biggest one I've ever seen. I'm afraid if I cut it back any further it will die. There's also some jungly looking plany on the other corner of the porch around our flag pole. It's a Japanese snowball bush. It's pretty, but huge. Why would you plant something that gets 8-10' tall in front of your porch? I'm thinking of more dwarf varieties of plants like a golden spirea and blue mist shrubs. The other side of the front of the house needs redone too. My hydrangeas went there and are getting too much sun. I'll most likely put some lavender and bee balm there and maybe move the forsythia plant there. (again placed in a spot too small for it, but it was a small plant so I left it there for now) Then we'll be taking out some dwarf spruce trees they planted on the other side of the sidewalk that goes from the driveway to the porch. They just look funny because they cut don on that side of the yard and there's this big gap between them of nothing. It's just an odd place to put something, so I never did. The only other thing we have planned is to paint the porch railing black. It's white right now.

If I lived close I'd be happy to help you with your weeding. emotion_hug

Buffer bar... blaugh funny as it is it does help me. xd

Hmm, not sure if it was topics or town names, it's been so long since I clicked on that thing, but either way they were some shockers. LOL Let's just say not too many were PG (although they tried to use less obvious terms) and 99% had to do with sex.

Yeah, I think that's why I like Barton so much; the old feel of it. It's like the old town's with a bit of sprucing up. I used to hate gardening and such when I worked, but when I quit my job I I had more time to devote to it and really like it now. Granted I don't go too overboard. I buy mostly perennials and then just keep the areas up by weeding and mulching. We're redoing the front yard finally. When we bough the house it already had some nice plants out front, but they were way too big for the space and not really plants I'd pick, but it was something, so we left them. Now we're to the point that if we trim them down much further they'd probably die and I don't want them above the porch. The first year here we spent the whole summer moving plants they had planted up against the house with 2 ft. or less of room to grow. They had 3 lilac bushes up against the foundation of the house in a planter box that is 18" wide. WTF????? and a Japanese Maple by the stairs of the front porch in a 2'x2' space. Now I know they're slow growing trees, but come on. Now to mention it was right where the hand rail was so you had to watch that too. We moved it into the front yard on the one side where the neighbors always tried to park their car. Kinda of a kill two bird with one stone thing. (the house was empty for a little over a year before we bought it and they would park in our front yard closest to their driveway. We did ask for them to stop, but then they tried to act like they didn't speak English, they didn't like it when I asked in Spanish with a shitty grin. They'd still do it every now and then when they didn't think anyone was home and so we said the heck with it and planted the tree there instead of moving it to the back yard. )

Maybe I have an easier time with bug in Durem because my method is more of a wait til it get close and in places like Barton that tends to send me running all over the place like an idiot and in Durem I get caught up on the rail of the building. blaugh

Oh believe me I complained and so did the other parents. I don't know what the heck she was thinking. I looked up what I could online, but still had a ton of questions.

If you hold down the shift key it allows you go walk faster. Trying out the sit/stand one. I keep hitting something and end up sitting but that's usually when I'm not paying attention and hit it on accident. Control button does sit/stand. Must be hitting the wrong one when trying to hit shift. lol My area had nothing but lewd and inappropriate topics in it. I laughed that I lived in ho central. My immediate area had old topics in it and the surrounding ones had some recent ones, but of the same nature.

I visited a few friends's houses on aylwyn's account. It's a lot easier to find them with this format instead of the other. You have to do it from the main taxi area if their not online though.

I don't really like Aekea at all. I also found the stairs hard to navigate. To me the whole look just wasn't appealing. I could live with the street style somewhat, but the housing options I didn't like at all. Just not my style I guess. I like the other 3 though. I like visiting Durem to play on the elevator. hahaha I picked Barton because of the flowers. I love gardening.

Yeah, I have no idea why, but the apartment works better for me. I found it odd myself. blaugh

Yeah, it's a lot to do, but if I don't do it they'll forget something and then I'll feel guilty. Plus there are something we need to buy yet. My daughter has been helping make the list of stuff she'll need. She's good about being organized. Since this will be her first time going, we've been trying to find out as much as we can, especially since her band teacher sprung it on her the day before the stuff needed to be turned in. eek They had a low turn out (probably because no one said anything about it til a few days before rolleyes ) but she really wants to go and her teacher is helping with the cost, so why not. My son, well, let's just say I hope he remembers to change his underwear. LOL Okay, he's not really that bad, but at times I wonder... wink
Hmmm, once I changed the walking speed on one account it changed all of them for me automatically. I haven't had to adjust it since. Took me forever to figure out how to do it though. I only found about it and the shift key while reading some strangers' convo while waiting for my person to walk to the corner of the screen I was on. hahaha
I miss the map too. It would be nice if each town had a square or something. If they do I haven't found it. I find it hard to navigate anywhere but to my house and my friends' houses. I had mixed feelings about topics. I never used them in the old towns, but then again I never really knew any of the people around my house. They all seemed abandoned. (yes, I'm nosy and went inside, they could have locked it... blaugh ) Now that I know the people around me and where the heck my friends' houses are it would be nice to have that option. Maybe they'll bring it back later after everything settles down a bit.
We're just the opposite because I catch bugs better in the apartments than in the house settings. LOL Where did you end up moving? I chose Barton and Cooki Monstah is there with me. biggrin My one son chose Gambino and another chose Durem. He originally chose Aekea, then didn't like it so he switched to Durem. My other daughter chose Durem too.

LOL I'm almost 4x yours age. blaugh Hard to believe I've been on for 6.5 years. eek

Yeah, IRL has been kicking my butt. Until the kids are out of school next month I'll be running here and there trying to get all kinds of crap done. My one son is going to Washington D.C. later this month and I've been making sure he has all he needs for that plus trying to get him in to the HS program his older brother is in, (lots of hoops to jump through to qualify xp ) Cooki Monstah has band camp next month so I've been making sure I have a list of what she needs, and getting the crap. Oh and this weekend we get to get the shingles all cleaned up permanent instead of in piles. Dumpster's coming today. Yay! Plus about 3 bday parties to get my kids to. Now that you're tired fro reading that, imagine how I feel. LOL I'll be glad when it's over and I can veg out on gaia for the most part of the day. mrgreen

I've placed my houses and bookmarked my kids houses. Took me forever to figure out how to accept people in my neighborhood. Stupid smartphone! They need better instructions with this set up. I have no idea what if anything Gambino market/ square whatever is for. Then again, I really never knew what the heck to do in Towns other than run around and try to click on bugs and pick up trash. (still suck at clicking on those bugs in this format LOL) It would be nice if you could do a little more there. *shrug*

Yeah, the Governor is not at all the big bad guy they made him out to be in the books I guess. I've heard the, "Well, they're building up to it" line too. I hope so because he wasn't coming off too evil. (Plus I keep seeing that guy as his role in Doctor Who; The Next Doctor episode hahaha)

Yeah, Carl is damaged goods at this point. He'd probably stand a pretty good chance in that time out corner the way he's been acting. LOL

Use them to rebuild the fences the Governor's gang keep driving through? emotion_dowant

I was bummed a bit too. I saw somewhere Morgan was going to be in the finale, but it must have been something to hide the real episode. *shrug* And the whole Governor killing all those people was spoiled for me by a facebook update that said 20 some people are going to die tonight. Thanks Walking Dead people. You made that scene way to predictable after that spoiler. stare I was kinda waiting for Carl to open fire when the people started coming off the bus. You can't tell me he didn't think about it the way he reacted to them. blaugh
