About
Let's see, I'm 22 years old, and not to toot my own horn, okay totally to toot my own horn, I've done a lot of stuff in my short life so far. I've graduated high school in the top 5%, failed out of college, been homeless, opened a restaurant, gone back to college, battled depression and suicide, overcome a yearlong drinking problem(mostly anyways), and throughout it all I've never stopped writing.I have bookshelves in my apartment now filled with quite an eclectic collection of books. I have textbooks on random subjects that I "accidentally" forgot to take back because I enjoyed them or found them useful for possible future writing projects, novels of all different genres, some tabletop gaming books that I love for the pretty pictures and art and the lore, (Warhammer 40k anyone? That universe is stupidly rich in lore. It's beautiful), and some writing books that range from one man's experience with writing workshops throughout his whole life put into a book to a collection of articles in the New York Times from authors to "How-To" books on novel writing. Then there are my notebooks, which might take up more room on my shelves than the actual books I have. >.> Tons and tons of notebooks filled with scribbles from when I learned how to write until now. I'm terrible about throwing things away that I've written in (read as: I never throw them away).
Let's see, what else should I say? Oh! I know! I'm currently in college and I'm going for a degree in English with a focus in Creative Writing. I plan to go straight into Graduate School afterwards to get a Master's Degree in Creative Writing if I can and then I want to teach at the college level. If that doesn't work, well I'm pretty darn good in a kitchen (again tooting my own horn, but it's true; my cooking is divine), and I'll probably end up working at a restaurant again.
I enjoy the outdoors, in doses, but I don't get to enjoy it much now because I absolutely abhor the cold, and I live in the mountains and it is constantly snowing this time of year. Don't ask why I came here if I hate the cold. I can't give a good reason. razz But when it is warmer I love to go hiking and exploring. Oh, swimming! I love to swim. I used to swim competitively in high school, and I was alright, but it was so much fun, and still fun today even though I don't do it races anymore.
Finally, I'm religious, but not in any organized sense of the word. I don't classify myself as Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Pagan, Wiccan, etc. But, I do draw on aspects of all the religions I've studied to try and make sense of the world as I see it, and I've found my god. S/he might not be the same as yours, but really I don't think that matters. You have your religion, I have mine, and if we want to talk about it over a nice cup of coffee, I'm down, as long as we all remain civil, or at least mostly civil.
